thing. 3:00 a.m. to noon on sunday, a mix of rain and snow. could actually start as rain and mostly melting. as we go through the afternoon, and it gets a little bit heavier, it will be changing over to snow in the philadelphia area if it's not already. and it continues all snow north and west. 6 to midnight it's about all snow across any part of the area even toward the shore. and this is what we're expecting, that mix with the rain, during the daytime hours, in philadelphia, parts of delaware and south jersey, nearly all snow. north and west and accumulation likely across a good bit of the area. by the time this is all over with. in the short-term we have rain showers, generally light rain showers moving through some of the northern suburbs. more on the timing and how much snow to expect with the rest of the seven-day in a few minutes. >> hard to believe that snow is coming given how nice it's been. >> i know. people, though, are getting ready for the quick flashback to

nova's big win and we'll check in with john at 5:00. now to breaking news related to the paris terror attacks, a fugitive suspected in those attacks is now in custody after a raid in belgium. officials now say there were more people involved in the plot than they initially thought. george spencer joins us live with that new information that we learned from investigators. george. >> rosemary, the belgian prime minister came out and said that three suspects were arrested in today's operation, including salah abdeslam. he had been on the run for four months before his arrest today. he was the only suspect in the paris attacks who was still at large. the prime minister tweeted he received congratulations from president obama about that capture. belgian news outlets report that abdeslam was hurt in the raid, while another suspect was shot

dead. authorities think abdeslam was the eighth attacker in that coordinated isis assault in paris that killed 130 people, out enjoying a friday night back in november, one was abdeslam's brother who blew himself up. authorities say the suspect slipped into bell jam after the spree. they will want to know how he evaded authorities for so long and will want him to answer questions about the plotting of the terror attack. earlier this week we can tell you that a separate raid targeting other suspects in the paris attacks ended with the arrest of another suspect who was also thought to be involved in that terrorism. obviously developing international story we'll be following for now we're live in the digital operations center, i'm george spencer, "nbc 10 news." back at home we have new video in to the newsroom to share with you. a car in the bay in atlantic

city. the car flew through the air like a scene from "the dukes of hazzard" along annapolis and south boulevard avenue this morning. witnesses tell police they saw two people trying to get out of the car just as it was sinking. the passenger was treated on the scene, the driver was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated. we have new information in the case of a new jersey man who killed his mother days after he finished serving three decades in prison. steven pratt has been sentenced to another 25 years behind bars. he pleaded guilty to killing his mother in atlantic city in 2014, it happened two days after he was freed from prison. he had been serving time for killing his next door neighbor in 1984 when pratt was 15 years old. >> philadelphia police say it was a chaotic morning for officers who were serving a warrant in port richmond. the suspect ran off in his underwear when officers shot a dog. the officers were waiting to

enter a house around 6:00 this morning while someone inside moved several pit bulls to the backyard. once the officers went in, police say the suspect took off in his underwear without shoes. he left the door open and one of the dogs got back inside and charged at an officer. the officer then shot the dog. the dog is still alive. the suspect got away, he's wanted for failing to appear in court on drug charges. now to decision 2016. a threat against one of donald trump's sons this afternoon. new york city police officers standing guard outside the home of eric trump, after he received a suspicious piece of mail containing a white powder which was determined to be harmless but it also had a letter saying the republican front-runner should drop out of the race or the next letter would be real. on the democratic side, vermont senator bernie sanders says hillary clinton is still beatable for the party's nomination. he says he can win several western states as well as april

primaries in wisconsin, new york, and also here in pennsylvania. clinton holds the lead of more than 300 committed delegates. decision 2016 will come to our region this spring, pennsylvania and delaware holding their primary elections on april 26. new jersey voters go to the polls on june 7. for complete election coverage including the delegate counts and upcoming primaries and caucuses tap the nbc 10 app. today hundreds of students walked silently through the streets of philadelphia to protest social injustice. as you can see, they marched through traffic near eakin's oval and carried posters with messages for the police. it ended at united methodist church where they bet the local district attorney and other leaders. discussed a more trusting relationship between minority communities and law enforcement. >> when the cops come i get scared so i walk out of the way. >> it's not great seeing my people gunned down in the street

unarmed. so for me as a black woman and black person this is important for me. >> the march was inspire bid the 1917 silent parade led by civil rights activist web deboy who protested against lynching and anti-black violence. from the delaware bureau, an 88-year-old man died from the flu, the first flu death in the state this season, officials say it's been a recent spike in cases, the number doubling last week from the week before. staying in delaware, environmentalist officials are getting ready for the start of what could be a very active mosquito season. crews will begin spraying near populated areas downstate tomorrow weather permitting. they will be in northern delaware on tuesday. officials tell us relatively mild winter means there could be plenty of mosquitoes this spring and summer. >> fire extinguishers are at the center of a scheme targeting small businesses across our

area. nbc 10 found businesses in four counties hit including montgomery, bucks, lehigh and northampton counties. deanna durante is live this afternoon in roslyn. i understand many might not know they have been scammed? >> reporter: or they thought it was a sales man who showed up trying to pitch something. this guy hits in business areas but targets small businesses, a tattoo parlor, a family owned dry-cleaner as well as a privately owned barber shop. >> the guy came in, he was scroungy looking, unkept, reddish-blond hair. >> reporter: first when she spotted the guy up the street she thought he needed a haircut. >> he came win a little red bucket. >> nick's barber shop has a strict no solicitation policy. >> she is the pit bull. >> i just felt sorry for him. >> kind of bold. >> he went for the fire extinguisher and offered a better deal on a refill and

service. >> i said we don't need a change. >> after she gave him her usual brush-off he left. problem is he went over to the dry-cleaner and across the street to the tattoo parlor and dozens of businesses from philly to scranton. offering to service fire extinguishers and pose as fire marshals in towns across the area. >> i knew there was something wrong. he didn't have tags on anything professional to say who he was representing. >> you knew it was a scam but you didn't dial 911. >> i did not. i did not. and i should have. >> a fire marshal would never show up without i.d. or in full uniform. the town won't demand cash. they say the guy has gotten payouts as small as 20 and as much as 200. they fear it could cause more than cash especially if the guy certify as fire system that is not safe. all things they didn't think of when the guy was here.

knocked out power for a short time. the family of local co-owner of "the philadelphia inquirer" lewis katz has filed a wrongful death lawsuit two years after he died in a plane crash. the suit says that the defendants including the plane's manufacturer caused the crash by their negligence and by manufacturing and or designing a defective product. the ntsb has blamed the crash on pilot error and aircraft design faults. it seeks unspecified damages. >> the civil suit involving hulk hogan's sex tape is in the hands of a florida jury. hogan is suing gawker for $100 million for posting a video showing him having sex with the wife of his then best friend. his attorneys say he did not consent to the video and gawker didn't follow usual journalism proes. the editors argue it was news worthy. >> hitler's personal copy of

"mein kampf" sold for more than $20,000 at auction, hosted by auctions in chesapeake city. the auction house has not released information about who the bidders are. american soldiers found the book in hitler's apartment days before he killed himself in 1945. yeah, hard to believe that we have snow in the forecast a couple days from now when we've gotten into the 60s today. big changes are on the way. we do have showers around in parts of the area now. the colder weather is coming in over the weekend. and we're going to be getting hours worth of snow, a lot of the question is going to be how much of it melts as it falls. we have a combination of clouds and sunshine, you can see blue in that sky. it's been pretty windy. west at 20 gusting to 37 miles

an hour. but it's 62 degrees right now. 60 in reading, 61 in bensalem, 60 in lancaster. so, it's pretty warm across the entire area. 63 in millville and in dover. those are the warm spots. out there at the moment. now, it's not going to stay warm, 62 today. but only 47 for the high tomorrow. as the clouds thicken up only 37 sunday, with all of the rain and snow falling. then on monday it's chilly as well. boy, it's going to warm way back up next week. two light showers across some of the northern portions of our area, the poconos, lehigh valley, that is not associated with this next storm. and it's not organized, not even close to being organized at this point. there is a blob of moisture in the middle of the country, a lot near the gulf coast, and so it's going to have a hard time coming

together to create a major storm. but it is going to create a storm. there we go, sunday morning and the light precipitation is in. so it could be starting off as light rain. come on, it's raining outside. but it could change to snow if the atmosphere gets colder and the precipitation heavier. that's during the afternoon. and into sunday night. this is many hours of this. and that is part of the problem. now a little closer view, there could even be some snow sneaking áq by tomorrow evening. and then by sunday morning here we go, there's rain to the south ÷ñ west. and guess where the rain snow line is for much of the day? there is 4:00 on sunday, snow north and west, darker blue indicating heavier show. you can see this hour after hour of this. we're not talking flurries or a few snow showers. and it doesn't end. according to this model until

early monday morning. so, the timeline again, 3:00 a.m. to noon, we start to see some of the precipitation. mostly melting. in the afternoon, though, may start getting heavy enough to start sticking in areas and changing over to snow in some places that are raining. and anything that falls during the evening is likely to be snow. overall generally less than an inch southern delaware, extreme south jersey because much of it is going to be rain or melting snow. 1 to 3 inches from philadelphia south and east. again, a lot of it, either rain or melting snow. but there could be a burst at some point sunday afternoon, mainly snow to the north and webs. 3 to 5 inches though there could be locally heavier amounts, some of those bands of heavier snow set up. a chance of an early shower, then clearing tonight. 36 in philadelphia, 29 north and west. during the day tomorrow, the clouds thicken up, it's

right now, might feel like spring but that's going to soon change. the nbc 10 first alert weather radar is tracking snow this weekend and we continue to get new information about the track and also the timing of this spring snowstorm. >> first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz has all of the details on the wet weather. glenn? >> there is no doubt that there's a lot of moisture around the country right now. extends from missouri to the gulf of mexico, some of the questions remain about how organized everything is going to get. but it does look like this is going to be combination of moisture and cold enough air to

produce snow. and it looks like it will mix with rain during the daytime hours, this is on sunday. from philadelphia and points south and east like delaware and south jersey, nearly all snow to the north and west. and some accumulation likely especially north and west. there's the storm developing, north carolina coast saturday night, and into sunday morning. may start off as a little bit of rain or a mixture. eventually the colder air comes in and changes any rain over to snow. we get a number of hours of that snow, so eventually it will start to accumulate. a lot of is it going to melt during the daytime hours. 3:00 a.m. to noon most is melting. then during the afternoon as it gets heavier in some places, it will start to change from rain to snow and start to accumulate as we head toward the nighttime hours. so it's not going to be accumulating all day, or all night, but it's going to be

47 monday and then it starts going up big time next week. it's 60 degrees in wilmington and chester springs, 61 in northeast philly, 58 degrees in trenton. 60 in reading and lancaster, so the temperatures above average. just about every where. the west wind is a land breeze today so the beaches are just as warm as the inland areas. you can see some of these light showers coming across the area. mostly up around the poconos. and some in berks county and the lehigh valley. most of the area is dry and will stay dry. but that's not true for much of the country. you've got a lot of moisture in the middle of the country and down by the gulf coast it's going to try to combine into a storm. it may not quite get its act together in time to produce significant snows around here, more likely up in new england, it will take longer for the storm to intensify. but you can see the circulation is there, the moisture is coming

in off the ocean. by sunday we're getting enough cold air coming in, at the same time as we're seeing moisture to produce snow. there's really not much doubt about that. it's just the question related to the temperatures. so, the daytime hours, this late in the season, it's easy for snow to melt. temperature above 32, easy for snow to melt. it's got to come down a pretty good clip to be sticking during the day. sunday evening, when the sun goes down, if it's snowing, of course the best chance for it to be sticking. now, a little closer view as we go through saturday night and into sunday morning. temperatures just barely above the freezing mark in philadelphia. but you can see as the snow comes down it could snow above 32 degrees but this is mostly melting. the darker blue indicating a little heavier snow. there's the rain snow line across the philadelphia area for a good bit of the afternoon. and on the wider view, once

again you can see perhaps a little bit of snow sneaking in to parts of delaware and south jersey saturday night. and then the warmer air comes up. it's a fairly large area of snow, hour after hour. those darker blues indicating some at least moderate snow, and it lasts for quite a long time. if it was colder, there would be more accumulation. less than an inch toward the shore, it's mostly rain or melting. 1 to 3 inches for philadelphia south and east. with a mixture and some melting. and main pli snow north and west if it doesn't melt we get up to 3 to 5 inches. a chance of an early shower tonight, followed by clearing, 36 for the low. during the day tomorrow, not nearly as windy as today but a lot colder. temperatures may not get out of the 40s. and seven-day forecast, the average high is 53, so we're way below that on sunday with the winter storm, and then monday

with mosquito season around the corner now new studies show where in the us tus zika virus is most likely to spread. those of us here in philadelphia along with new york and washington have a moderate risk, the risk in miami, orlando, savannah and charleston is high. as spring approaches many plan their summer vacation and the zika threat make some rethink. >> a travel show today we learned that folks aren't canceling vacation all together.

they are making alternative plans. >> while crews at the convention center are setting up the displays and rolling out the carpets, exhibitors are getting ready for tourists looking to book their next trip. >> 23 miles of beach. >> another selling point for roxanne of the conventioners bureau is florida is not an active zika zone. outbreaks which is spread by infected mosquitoes have plagued other warm weather destinations from mexico to brazil and prompted some to change their plans and visit places closer to home. >> especially women who already are pregnant are saying you know, i feel safer being in the state. let's head florida and bypass the bahamas and caribbean until after the baby is born. >> we want to educate the consumer. >> because it can cause birth defects which results in brain damage, pregnant women traveling to zika zones most at risk.
