right now at 6:00 it's tournament time. the villanova wildcats are hoping to get another victory in l louisville tonight and make it to the final four. this would be their first time there in seven years. here's a look at the nbc 10 countdown clock. villanova will face off against kansas in less than three hours. good evening. i'm denise nakano. they are hoping to add another championship to its collection. live in louisville, tim, how are the fans feeling about the chances tonight? >> reporter: i think, denise, they've been saying the same thing all along, if the team plays as well as we know they

can play and they hit their shots, they'll be fine. this is the brown hotel. we have a bigger crowd tonight than thursday night. you see hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people packing in here making it very hard for us to hear. the only thing they don't have -- they have passion. the only thing they don't have at villanova is a good goat. take a look at this. >> let's go nova! >> reporter: nova's chant is way better than the kansas' slow chant we heard today. ♪ >> reporter: kansas' goat way better. lots of nova fans were at the festival. the kansas goat whooped the nova goat in a race. but up in the highlands neighborhood -- >> this is louisville, kentucky -- >> reporter: spinelli's is owned by a philly guy who came west and decided to stay. his family now has a bunch of

locations in and around louisville. >> we want to show them rocky and the great food that we do have and the great rolls we have. >> reporter: the rocky balboa and their cheese steaks all served on rolls imported daily and they're good. that's legit. villanova fans in town have picked up the philly skyline t-shirts, old family photos and artwork that shows the family's love of septa, even stickers honoring the one thing the family really misses from back home. >> you need to come to louisville. it is something we completely miss. >> reporter: yeah, they do, but they've seen a lot of philadelphia fans from home. a few blocks south of the arena, the wildcats could punch their ticket to houston and the final four. a guy in a kansas hat being welcomed here amongst the vil villanova fans. he has a friend who is a fan.

it's going to clear out soon. the team will walk through in a few minutes, walk through this huge crowd. it will be very loud. it will be crazy. that's why we came upstairs on the balcony. we know what it was like thursday night. then all these fans will head up to the arena a few blocks north for hopefully a great night. it was a great day, a picturesque day. hopefully an awesome night. tim furlong, nbc 10 news. all right, tim. thank you. a live look now at the wells fargo center in south philadelphia where notre dame will take on north carolina in the elite eight tomorrow night. new tonight more evacuations at the new castle county apartment complex where police found four residents dead in their units yesterday. management of the complex now says a boiler exhaust pipe caused the tragedy at the hidden valley apartment complex on homestead road in wilmington. nbc 10's george spencer covered the story as it was breaking last night. george, today even more residents had to leave their

home. >> reporter: that's right, denise. last night authorities only evacuated the building where those residents died and the building right next door, but today we saw voluntary evacuations for many of the other buildings in this complex as management here works to ensure this doesn't happen again. carrying out possessions box by box, it was a somber moving day for the family of nancy uniac, one of the four residents found dead at the evergreen apartments at riverfront heights last night, apparently the result of carbon monoxide poisoning. >> it comes in waves because you feel like you have to get done what you have to get done, but sometimes you stop and look and this just didn't have to be. >> reporter: martin is nancy's brother, leading the effort to clean out her apartment just down the stairs from her unit authorities tell us karl did you know if i, veronica mousily, and

a dog were found dead. >> my girlfriend is pregnant. she lives here with me, also. i don't know what that carbon monoxide might do to the baby. >> reporter: they say an he cext pipe was the cause. maintenance crews worked to replace the exhaust pipes for every boiler leaving residents without heat or hot water. >> my biggest fear is it happening again and we won't make it out. next time, what if we don't make it out? >> reporter: of the eight survivors hospitalized last night, only one was still in the hospital this morning in stable condition. for the families of the victims, the deaths feel senseless. >> you look at which wiilmingto might go down in wilmington or anywhere and you don't think it's going to be an odorless gas. that's not the thing you think it's going to be.

>> reporter: that man says there were no carbon monoxide detectors in his sister's apartment, but we've been watching as workers have been installing them today. the complex says the problem boiler had been inspected by the state and had passed that required inspection. reporting live tonight in wilmington, i'm george spencer, nbc 10 news. thank you, george. a pennsylvania pilot is suspected of being drunk before a flight to philadelphia today. the faa detained the american airlines pilot at a detroit airport this morning and held him from the flight. he has since been released, but that flight had to be canceled and customers had to take other flights. american airlines issued an apology. the company says this is a serious matter and we are assisting local law enforcement with the investigation. we will handle this matter appropriately as a safety and care of our customers and employees is our highest priority, end quote. developing right now, the u.s. coast guard has just

suspended its search for some missing boaters about a half mile off the coast just north of atlantic city. the search started last night when someone reported seeing three or four people on top of what looked like an overturned fishing boat. the coast guard says it's gotten at least one more report since then. no boaters are reported missing so far. what a great start to the holiday weekend. nbc 10 at wilmington where people were out enjoying the sunshine. and the spring flowers, as you can see, they were in bloom. let's go now to the jersey shore where many people are spending their easter weekend. here is a live look at cape may. many people just love being here with all that sunshine, the water and the warm weather. here with the easter sunday forecast, everyone wants to know is this great weather going to be sticking around for the easter egg hunt? we are tracking showers. it looks like anything disruptive will hold off until

overnight sunday. a live look, a little bit more cloud cover right now. so plenty of sunshine across all areas with high pressure still in control here across a good chunk of the north and east. tracking one disturbance off to the south that will drive a little bit of moisture into the area tomorrow afternoon. our main system we're tracking for sunday night into monday, mostly monday, i should say, up across the plains. temperatures into the lower 60s in philadelphia. cooler to the shore, though. 47 in atlantic city. 46 toward the wildwood area so, again, we do keep things dry tonight and early tomorrow as well. so if you're heading out to any services in the morning we're mostly looking dry with the potential for drizzle across extreme southern areas. a closer look at the timing with the rain we're tracking for sunday night and into your monday. denise? turning now to the terror in brussels. a missing american who hasn't been heard from since tuesday is confirmed dead by his family. the brother of justin schultz tweeted he found out today that, quote, the cowards took my

brother's life. schultz was with his wife stephanie who was still unaccounted for. two other americans, a brother and sister from new york, were killed in the attack which took at least 31 lives. today belgian prosecutors announce they've charged three men for the attacks on the brussels airport and subway. those three suspects were arrested thursday, one of them is charge d with terrorist murder. belgian media are reporting that suspect was the man seen at the airport with two alleged accomplices who blew themselves up. in decision 2016, a fight out west still ahead. hillary clinton and bernie sanders battle it out for support in several western contests. and one of them is already declared a winner tonight. plus, talk about a special delivery. the unique way some local kids got their easter candy fix today.

a special drone delivery this easter weekend dropped thousands of candy filled easter eggs in cherry hill this morning. dozens of kids rushed in to scoop them up. there they go. we talked to one 11-year-old who was in a sharing mood with the eggs he collected. >> when the drone dropped and didn't have no canndy, i had fie or six eggs and i gave him away because he was crying. >> that's generosity for you. impacting your world christian center hosted today's egg drone drop. it's mostly looking cloudy for your easter holiday. we are tracking showers for the start of the workweek. we'll look at the timing coming up in my first alert seven-day forecast.

vermont candidate bernie sanders hopes to narrow the gap with hillary clinton. so far so good for sanders. nbc news projects he's the winner of the alaska caucus. caucuses are also happening in hawaii and washington state. meanwhile, republicans are focusing on wisconsin where polls show a tight race. nbc 10 national correspondent chris pallone reports. >> reporter: vermont senator bernie sanders drawing at least 15,000 people to a rally at safeco field in seattle. >> when i was a kid, i had a dream of being at home plate in a major league ballpark. >> reporter: sanders is going to make up ground on front-runner hillary clinton, saturday would be a good place to start with democratic voters in alaska, hawaii and washington all holding caucuses. clinton has about a 300 delegate lead but sanders and his supporters say he's poised to

see momentum. >> and i believe if we win here in washington, we're going to win in california. >> reporter: sanders tends to do well in states with caucuses and smaller percentages of minority voters. an nbc news analysis shows sanders needs to win 58 of the remaining delegates to become the nominee. not impossible but improbable. >> and this is the woman that i would see be president. >> reporter: republicans next vote april 5 in wisconsin as the three remaining candidates stump for votes there. anticipation is building for who, if anyone, scott walker will choose to endorse. senator ted cruz picked up the backing of a former texas rival. cruz beat him in a 2012 race for senate. >> and that was then. this is now. ted cruz and david are two different people. we're both identical, almost identical in our views and we're both conservative.

>> reporter: cruz's best poised to bring republicans together and win the white house after a nomination fight which is becoming uglier by the day. chris pallone, nbc news. for complete decision 2016 coverage including today's caucus results and the latest delegate count, be sure to tap the nbc 10 app. the annual event at the pennsylvania convention center. the two-day event commemorates african-americans across the nation. one of the highlights this year is the philadelphia debut of a documentary celebrating the achievements of african-american olympians in the 1936 olympics known as the hitler games. jesse owens is perhaps the most notable athlete from that year, but he was one of nine african-americans who took part. eight of those athletes took home gold. well, what a beautiful start to the holiday weekend, plenty of sunshine out there this afternoon with relatively moderate temperatures.

as we head into tonight clouds will be on the increase. that will be the trend as we head into tomorrow as well. we are tracking some showers, most of which look to hold off until sunday night into monday. i'm also tracking warmer temperatures. it looks like we could once again reach the 70-degree mark as we head into next week. now temperatures have been above normal. the trend, as of today, of course, has been to cooler temperatures. 69 degrees. temperatures tomorrow looking similar. the good news we'll stay around if not above normal. wall-to-wall sunshine, we're seeing clouds increase towards atlantic city thanks to the strong northeasterly flow. temperatures cooler as well, into the 40s, while we're still in the 50s for wilmington. enjoying high pressure there well to the north and east. we have two disturbances that we're tracking, one to the south. this will increase moisture tomorrow afternoon but our main system for monday afternoon will bring us some showers well to our west out across the plains. as we head into tomorrow, that cloud cover, mostly dry weather.

9:00 a.m., temperatures into the 40s. we could see some showers, southern areas, delaware, but, again, most of that disturbance will push offshore. the showers start to become more numerous although in this case still not looking widespread. now monday 9:00 a.m. still looking mostly showery as we head into the afternoon, perhaps the showers become more numerous, perhaps locally heavy. temperatures will be on the cool side as we head into monday and winds increase with the passage of this front to get the workweek under way. no drastic temperature changes expected over the course of the next couple of days. clouds on the increase. 41 the low. 45 north and west. mostly cloudy for your easter, again, with the potential for a passing shower mostly to the south, during the morning or afternoon. most of the more numerous showers won't arrive until after sunset and really after

confirms the identity of the first suspect charged in direct connection to the attacks in brussels, this as belgian prosecutors charge two others in custody with terrorist activity. one of the americans severely injured in the bombings and from some of their family members as well. also, a man freed after spending two decades behind bars for a murder he says he did not commit. our investigation shedding new light. and then the custody battle over a 6-year-old girl removed from her foster home because she is part native american. now there's a bitter battle over the families that want to raise her. we'll have that story and much more when we see you in a few minutes for "nbc nightly news," deni denise. we'll see you at 6:30. this is sports desk brought to you by xfinity, changing the way you watch tv. >> i'm danny pommells.

nova look iing to be in the fin quartet for the first time since 2009. john clark is it at the team hotel in louisville where the wildcats are about to head to the arena. >> reporter: danny, it is getting wild and crazy. you can hear the band starting to play right now. nova nation is here getting ready to send the cats off to the arena. they're going to leave here in about half an hour or so and villanova going into this game against kansas, they really are the hottest team in the tournament. they have the best shooting percentage in 22 years. i have to tell you from covering this team, the seniors and the juniors have been through this three, four years. they are playing their best basketball at the right time. they are so together as a team. >> we definitely play for each other, and just our chemistry, i think you see it out on the floor that we really enjoy playing on the floor together and we have the confidence both on the offensive and defensive end.

it's looking pretty good. >> not quite as sunny today. no big temperature changes so it won't be drastically cold er or anything like that. we could see a passing shower well to the south of philadelphia. it's mostly just looking like a cloudy afternoon and then as we head into sunday night, that's when the showers start to become more numerous and, again, i think for the most part that's going to be after midnight and into monday. monday is looking on the rainy side but then we do improve as we head into the middle of the week. that will bring us very nice weather and temperatures will start to come up as well late week so we are keeping a close eye on the temperatures for the second part of the week. >> okay, thank you. that's nbc 10 news. we'll see you back here tonight at 11:00. nbc nightly news is next.
