games, not bad considering center court ticket would cost as much as $3600. a standard hotel room is running around 600 for the weekend and pay about $1,000 for a round trip flight for a total of $1900. >> nbc 10 has you covered throughout villanova's championship chase. keith and matt will bring us live reports. breaking news just in to the "nbc 10 news" room. the fbi says it has now broken into the iphone of the gunman in the san bernardino terror attacks. you may remember the fbi asked for apple's help to break in which led to a debate over whether apple should do that. the fbi says it broke into the phone on its own, that means the court case involving apple is now over. to our weather and strong gusts, the big story tonight, take a live look at the scene where the wind turbines are getting a workout.

the flags were flapping in down town wilmington as well and walking around took extra effort. with that wind slapping around anyone trying to take a stroll. nbc 10's glenn "hurricane" schwartz is joining us. >> what can we expect tonight? >> it's going to be a windy night especially over the next few hours, we're seeing the flags blowing hard, this is at cape may from the marquis de lafayette hotel and we have gusts of 45 to 50 miles an hour, a wind advisory until midnight for the entire area. look at these current wind gusts, 43 miles an hour in philadelphia, 48 in pottstown, 40 in wilmington. 40 at allentown, 44 mount pocono. you rarely see so many places with gusts that high. strongest wind gust i've seen so far today, 51 miles an hour in chester county. a mix of sun and clouds during the day today. no precipitation left, we had

that this morning and that is long gone. 62 degrees now after a high of 70, so the temperature is starting to go down and it is going to get chillier for a while. but then it's going to warm up again. vile details with the seven-day in a few minutes. now the latest on that shooting outside the u.s. capitol in washington, d.c. tonight, capitol police say an officer shot a man who pulled out a gun at a capitol check point. that suspect is in the hospital, we're told a bystander was injured with minor injuries. it put the capitol on lockdown and staffers ordered to stay inside. police tell us there was no further threat to the public. korn coverage tonights with lester holt ahead at 6:30 tonight. five years after being wounded in a deadly shooting spree former congresswoman gabby giffords brought her gun campaign to our area. she was in wilmington.

pamela was there and has a throwser look at the message that was delivered in delaware today. >> grief is a difficult feeling to put into words. >> when the words ran out for delaware mother who lost a son to gun violence there was this. that which she could not say was felt by former congresswoman gabby giffords and her husband mark kelly. they shared this moment before the delaware coalition for common sense. a group dedicated to keeping even more families from knowing the feeling behind this embrace. >> i'm somebody who has defended our constitution and the bill of rights by going you know, in combat. i understand that right. >> retired astronaut mark kelly will be the first to tell you he owns a gun and supports second amendment rights but what he can't get behind are the numbers that say every 17 minutes someone, somewhere in this country, dies of gun violence. >> we have 33,000 people die

from gun violence every year. >> the best approach he says begins with looking at who can get them. >> keeping guns out of the hands of criminals like dangerous felons, domestic abusers and people that are dangerously mentally ill. >> they hope to close the loopholes that prevent people from getting guns. >> stopping gun violence takes courage. the courage to do what's right, the courage of new ideas, i've seen great courage when my life was on the line. >> with the support of one another they hope to draw support across the board toughening up gun laws and hopefully saving lives in the process. >> now is the time to come together, be responsible, democrats, republicans, everyone. we must never stop fighting. >> as you saw that coalition has brought a lot of people

together, there were pastors, domestic violence advocates, as well as people who spent their entire careers in law enforcement, all of their minds now joined together to combat this problem here in delaware where every five days someone is shot to death. pamela osborne, "nbc 10 news." philadelphia city council met to talk about gun violence and its effect on young people. nbc 10 at the public hearing. police commissioner richard ross urged neighbors to speak up when they suspect someone they know may turn to violence. they are seeing a rise in the number of shootings in the city. we have new information today about the american airlines co-pilot who was grounded on suspicion of drunkenness. we learned that 50-year-old john mcguire is from delaware county. today authorities charged him with operating under the influence of alcohol. he was scheduled to be on a flight from detroit to philadelphia saturday.

that flight was later canceled. $3 million how much lawmakers say new jersey should spend to test for lead in the water in all of the state school districts, right now new jersey has no law or standard for testing, they say the reality of what's happening with flint, michigan's water crisis and high levels of lead in the newark school system forced this new proposal. they say moneys ear marked for lead prevention statewide has gone down the drain and used on other projects. >> unmike the administration that doesn't think it's a crisis, if it's your child that gets poisoned, and becomes neurologically disabled, you'll find out. >> under the law the state would reimburse districts for the twice a year water testing but if lead is found remedial costs would fall on the district. >> philadelphia mayor jim kenney paid a visit to day care students. nbc 10 was there as the mayor read to the children at the china town learning center.

the maybe has been visiting day care centers across the city to talk about his plan to raise money for his pre-k plan. good news tonight if you live in pennsylvania and work in delaware. your commute home could get easier. that is if you rely on septa. here is a look at 30th street station where the evening commute is in full swing. next month septa wilmington newark line will be adding two express trains in the evening, they will run between the four stations in delaware and center city philadelphia. this will save commuters about 10 minutes. the service will start two weeks from today. >> a construction project begins tomorrow on the draw bridge over the schuylkill river. crews will work to enhance the operation and structural condition of the bridge. the project is expected to take two years. this week lanes will be closed in cloth directions. >> are you the big winner from

the weekend powerball drawing, there was one ticket that matched all of the white balls saturday but it could have been worth even more. that ticket was purchased at the one stop shop on airs town road in burlington county. it matched all five white balls with 11, 23, 42, 52, and 68, but missed the powerball which was 6. lottery official say the ticket would have been worth $2 million if it had been purchased without power play. >> next on "nbc 10 news" at 6, election day exception. local voters start heading to the polls next month but they may not have the final say in the end. because of the way the ballots work. you'll see why next in a live report. >> plus, wind's the story now. but we've got a major warm-up after we cool down. i'll look at when it's going to hit and how long it's going to last next in my first alert forecast.

lauren mayk has that story. >> pennsylvania is unlike any state in the country. >> reporter: yes. it is unusual. we're at the national constitution center where you can walk through the process. if you win a republican primary in pennsylvania you get 17 delegates but there are three times that number that are unbound and that can make you want to look carefully at your ballot. on the floor of the convention hall are the delegates. they officially pick the party's nominee and 54 pennsylvania delegates can vote any way they want. no matter who wins the primary. who are they? republican voters will decide. along with picking a presidential candidate april 26, you'll pick delegates. >> you are directly voting for the people but you don't know who their alliances are. >> so we decided to ask. they called or e-mailed all of the candidates who had contact

undecided. >> i think you have to really listen to what the thoughts of the people would be. and my 100% committed to voting for who wins the district, no. >> reporter: he tells me the best candidate to win in november is key for him. we reached more than 20 delegate candidates all across the region and interestingly, nobody told us they were definitely voting for donald trump or for john kasich. ted cruz was the only name we heard. and we should note the democrats they don't do it this way in pennsylvania. on the ballot it lists who each delegate candidate is supporting. lauren mayk, "nbc 10 news." >> so interesting. it's going to be interesting in july. delaware holds its primary election april 26 as well, new jersey voters head to the polls june 7. you can get the latest decision 2016 news any time including the updated delegate count by tapping the nbc 10 app.

what an interesting day. we started with rain and drizzle and no windment we end up with sunshine and powerful wind. strong wind, gusting up to 50 miles an hour in parts of the area. we've got colder nights ahead the next two nights especially tomorrow night. and then the 70s are going to be returning later on during the week. cameras shaking out there right now. still pretty windy. sustained wind at 31 miles an hour in philly gusting to 43. temperatures 62 degrees. so it's been a mild wind today. it's not going to be tomorrow. temperatures down in the mid-50s, north and west. 47 in mount pocono. and we got close to 70 degrees in southern portions of the area. and temperatures there also dropping into the low 60s. that's before the sun sets. so it's going to be going down.

73 for friday, 60 saturday and sunday. today official high 70 degrees, it's the seventh day this month we hit 70. only 57 tomorrow. a tremendous drop in temperatures to barely average for this time of the year. we've got wind gusts over 40 miles an hour in many parts of the area, the highest number we've seen so far today, 51 miles an hour in parts of chester county. there's the wind, it's out of the west and it's gusty as we go through the evening. 9:00 still gusting to 34 miles an hour, temperatures in the 50s. we go through later at night, it's still going to be a windy, windy night across the area. we had a mix of clouds and sun, no precipitation left over once that morning rain is gone. the gusts not only through the evening, but later on tonight

too. and tomorrow. it's not going to be quite as windy tomorrow. it will be gusting up to 30 miles an hour tomorrow instead of the 40 to 50 miles an hour we saw today. so it's windy tonight, and colder, 40 in philadelphia, the wind chill by morning 32, that's how it's going to feel. 20 to 30, gust to 50. during the day tomorrow a windy day, not quite as windy as today. up to 35 miles an hour. temperatures holding in the 50s though. so it's going to be fairly chilly. and then tomorrow night down to 34 in philadelphia, 20s in the suburbs, but by thursday we're back up in the 70s. showers thursday night and into friday, some of that rain could be on the heavier side. friday's mild, but by the end of the weekend it is not mild. it's cold. >> i'm danny pommells. coming up villanova gets ready for a tough test against a familiar foe in oklahoma.
