nbc 10 news starts now. video captures chaotic kids wreaking havoc on board a septa "l" train. police track down their parents who are talking about the video that went viral. hitting the road. today's the day villanova heads to houston ahead of their final four showdown but not before fans get a chance to send them off in astyle. we're off to a chilly start, temperatures in the 30s and 40s. a live look at 69th street terminal in upper darby. we're right around normal for this time of year. 4:00 a.m., good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert

forecast. if this is right around normal, we've been spoiled. >> we have. today we'll feel normal. march temperatures which means this morning we're running 10 to 17 degrees cooler than yesterday. 14 degrees chillier in northeast philadelphia which has most of the area in the 30s and some spots below freezing. look at pottstown and doylestown, 30 degrees right at the freezing mark for wrightstown. while wilmington is 36, south philadelphia, 5th and wharton has dropped to 28, roxborough 37, 35 in northeast philadelphia. a cold start, yes. we will see sunshine and something's missing today. the wind is going to really take a break, a 4 mile-an-hour breeze at 9:00 and by lunch time, just 9 miles an hour and 52 degrees. sunshine and they'll be climbing this afternoon. i'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. let's see how the forecast is moving. jessica boyington has first alert traffic. >> we're watching 422. a lot of construction out there. 4 east and westbound between route 23 and trooper road. what you're looking at right now

is route 23. we have lane restrictions in both directions with one lane getting by. obviously no backup right now. we're not dealing with a whole lot of volume on the roads at this early hour. when it clears out of the way around theç 5:00 hour, we'll kp you updated with that. here's the schuylkill expressway. eastbound, westbound, no problems and 13 minutes at the most from the blue route to the vine street expressway. speeds still into the 50s. if you take mass transit, everything is run on time or close to schedule. tracy. the march to victory is on. today is the day the villanova wildcats head to houston ahead of this weekend and final four matchup. katy zachry is live at villanova with the details. what's going to happen this morning? >> hi, tracy, a lot of excitement surrounding the sendoff later today. it isn't until around 3:00. already i've seen one person show up with a large piece of luggage. so this is the day the center where the wildcats practice, and this is where the school will come together around 3:00 today

to wish their team good luck. they are playing the oklahoma sooners this saturday night in houston. for the ncaa final four matchup. there's a lot riding on this game. whoever wins the championship -- whoever wins this saturday goes to the championship game monday night. the last time the wildcats went to the final four was in 2009. the last time they won the tournament was in 1985. so students return to campus yesterday after easter break. forget catching up about how their vacation was, all talk was about this weekend's game. now, at last check with villanova and organizers of today's sendoff party, they were still working out the exact details but already this morning, i've reached out to several key players who are part of that sendoff party. as soon as i get details about it, i'll share them with you. we'll be back in about 25 minutes with reaction from students across campus. reporting live at villanova, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. the wright brothers and no,

not the airplane guys. ahead in our next half hour, you know jay wright but have you met his younger brother? meet him and hear about their shared love of family and basketball. we have our own team heading to the final four, keith jones, matt delucia and john clark will report live from houston starting tomorrow. be sure to watchur villanova march to victory, live from texas friday night. we'll have keys to the game, players to watch and we'll get the flavor of houston. 4:04 and 41 degrees outside. new from overnight, police are looking for a shooter who gunned down a man in west philadelphia. mercy hospital called police after a car dropped off a wounded man there. the victim was shot in the head, chest and arm. he was transferred to presbyterian hospital where he is in critical condition. police traced the shooting to south cecil street where they found blood leading to the victim's home. investigators aren't sure if the shooting happened inside or

outside that home. a mother is apologizing for a video that shows young children spitting, cursing and hitting on a septa "l" train. a rider recorded the video on the "l" before the kids exited. we blurred the faces. they exited at the york/dolphin station in philadelphia. people who saw the children alerted the mother. >> send me the video. my kids? when i seen then, i was like oh, my god. i was ashamed of it. >> parents told nbc 10 the man who shot the video instigated the incident with the kids but they say they don't condone their children's behavior. septa police say they contacted the parents and offered them social services. this story is generating a lot of reaction on our nbc 10 facebook page.

home. she was found beating and bown in the basement of her ewing home around 10:00 yesterday morning. police believe two masked men ransacked the home for items to steal and assaulted the victim before tieing it her up. the victim was found when a friend came to check on her. >> it's really sad. i guess it could happen in any neighbored in anywhere. we just have to be ves cautious. >> this is the second home invasion in ewing township this month. a court hearing is scheduled today in las vegas in judy huff's lawsuit against bill cosby. she allege the comedian forced her to play a sex act on him at the playboy mansion when she was 15 years old. a defamation lawsuit filed by janis dickinson can move forward. cosby's lawyers argue dickinson

changed her story over the years. the judge says the facts will come out at trial. cosby is facing criminal charges in montgomery county. he's accused of drugging and assaulting an employee. the position is considered second in command to state attorney general kathleen kane. kane will go on trial in august for allegedly leaking grand jury information and then lying about it. cosby's lawyers have been trying to get the case against him thrown out based on an immunity deal they made with castor decadesç ago when he was montgomery county district attorney. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. eight minutes after 4:00. the temperatures have been coming down. we've got a cold morning but a beautiful day ahead. bright sunshine and the wind is taking a break today. but the wind returns tomorrow and at the end of the week,

we'll warm to about 60 this afternoon. the fbi confirms it's looking into a report that hackers linked to isis targeted dozens of new jersey transit officers. "newsweek" reports the breach led to the release of personal information of more than 50 transit officers. the report says the hackers encouraged lone wolf attacks on those officers. in. j transit says the hackers did not compromise their information system but were able to get some information from an outside vendor. this morning, investigators describe the man who hijacked a flight from egypt to cyprus as psychologically unstable. he boarded the plane in alexandria, threatened to blow it up and forced it to land in cyprus. this video shows the hijacker passing through airport security yesterday morning. you can see him go through the metal detector and get a patdown. he was wearing a fake explosives vest. he held passengers and crew members hostage for about six hours before he finally released them and surrendered. before the standoff ended, a

crew member escaped out the cockpit video. the hijacking was not an act of terror, they say. the$' appears to have family problems and officials say after landing in cyprus, the man asked to speak to his ex-wife who they brought to the airport. then look at this picture. a guy posed for a picture with the hijacker and this photo was all over social media. the british passenger was one of the last people to be freed when the hijack incident ended his friends told a british newspaper the move was typical of an irreverent man who loves a joke. 4:15. 39 degrees outside. now to decision 2016. the eventual republican presidential nominee may not be able to count on the support of his rivals. listen to what the candidate said at a cnn town hall in wisconsin. >> do you continue to -- >> no, i don't anymore. >> you don't? >> no. we'll see who it is. >> i'm not in the habit of supporting someone who attacks my wife and attacks my family. that is going beyond the line.

i think our wives, our kids should be off limits. >> ohio governor john kasich said he'll have to see how things finish before keeping a pledge to back the nominee. meantime, donald trump continues to defend his campaign manager who is charged with assaulting a reporter earlier this month. this is new surveillance video of the incident. this was a campaign event in florida. the reporter in the yellow shirt says trump's campaign manager forcibly pulled her arm when she tried to ask the candidate a question. corey lewandowski is charged with misdemeanor battery now. >> what donald trump has been doing over these last months is inciting violent behavior, aggressive behavior. >> clinton was in wisconsin where voters go to the polls next tuesday. meantime, hillary clinton's camp opened a phone bank in old city philadelphia last night. dozens of people called pennsylvania voters to get their message out. primary here is four weeks away

and bernie sanders plans to make his first campaign visit to pennsylvania tomorrow at a rally in pittsburgh. there are 189 democratic delegates up for grabs in pennsylvania. you can get the latest on decision 2016 anytime including the updatedç delegate count by tapping the nbc 10 app. tributes are pouring in for oscar winning actress patty duke who died yesterday at her home in idaho at the age of 69. she was a child star who went on to a decade's long career on stage and screen. at age 12 she started as helen keller in "the miracle worker." ed inment-'60s she played identical cousins in the patty duke show. she was open about her battle for depression and became an advocate for others with mental illness. 4:17. penn state is offering new opportunities for students in delaware county. >> one, two, three. >> the brandywine campus is

pottstown, reading, doylestown just below freezing at 30 degrees. 37 at the airport in cape may. middle 30s for wide bin and cape may courthouse. it's a cold start but completely clear at the shore. the rest of the area, there were a few thin clouds overnight. they have cleared out. we'll see sunshine today. over the next couple days, things will be changing. tomorrow we'll start to see some of the highç clouds move in an behind those clouds, wet weather. look at the showers and thunderstorms that are lining up in the midwest from the deep south into the chicago area. those showers are on the move, mainly heading to the north to begin with. as we get into the latter part of the week on friday, we will see a chance of some showers. isolated showers possible tomorrow afternoon, thursday afternoon as the clouds move in. most of those will pass to the north. as we go into friday morning we'll be watching for showers and thunderstorms. but not today. today will be a beautiful day after a cold morning. sunny skies, a light breeze, out

that's scheduled until april 8th. something we'll have to pay attention to for the next week or so. 95 moving through delaware, no problems here. north or southbound from 295 to 495, speeds still into the 60s, an 11-minute drive time. people and police are scolding a woman who called 911 to report a pizza delivery mistake. police in hartford, connecticut say a woman dialed 911 and asked police if they could help her get her money back. they delivered a pie sh a hamburger topping instead of cheese and bacon. >> i called them back and they don't want to give my money back. they keep hanging up. >> that's not a police matter, ma'am. you'll have to work that out for the pizza shop. >> 911 is not no joke. they should fine them at least $50 or $100. >> the workers at the pizza shop said the woman ate half the

just 3525 minutes past 4:00. good morning, upper darby. here's a look at the 69th street transportation center. if you're headed out for an early morning trolley or train, it's a chilly 35 degrees out. today a philadelphia community will celebrate a neighborhood landmark. the tacony library is marking its 110th anniversary for a party for families. history buffs can also look back at the last 110 years. the library is closing for major renovations starting tomorrow night. now from our trenton bureau, this morning we're hearing from two emergency responders who helped an expected mother carrying twins when she went into labor inside a school cafeteria. the pregnant mom began to feel labor plans when she was visiting with her child at sykes academy in trenton on monday night. she wasn't due for anotherç month. two ems technicians arrived just in the nick of time. they brought the mom out to the ambulance where she gave birth to healthy twins.
