nbc 10 news starts now. right now on "nbc 10 news today," a baby abducted from the king of prussia mall is safe and back with his family this morning. police have a suspect in custody. here's the moment when the family was reunited with the baby. we have live team coverage of this still developing story. this morning, it is unusually warm and breezy and we're tracking showers. 4:00 a.m. and 66 degrees outside. good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today," i'm tracy davidson. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with the first alert forecast. we should take the umbrellas this morning. >> we don't have much in the way of rainfall but some areas are starting to see rain. we're waiting for it in philadelphia. it's not far away. the temperatures have been falling but not by much.

we're getting a warm start in the 60s this morning and the numbers will climbr))q upper 70s this afternoon with a chance of showers and some thunderstorms. and like yesterday we'll get gusty winds. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington is watching first alert traffic. >> we're watching the vine street expressway, heading through center city, doing okay for the most part. this is around 24th street. leftover construction projects over here, into the shoulder, not really taking out any parts of the lanes. what we pay attention to is headed westbound towards the schuylkill. right now we're okay. if you're on the vine, you're heading towards the schuylkill expressway. once you get there, you'll be okay as well. the conshohocken curve, eastbound/westbound, a 13-minute trip at the most. speeds into the 60s. back in the next ten with more checks on your majors around the area. tracy? prayers, hugs and kisses. a relieved family is reunited

with a baby abducted at king of prussia mall. police combed the area for the woman who took the infant. the suspect is in custody waiting to be charged. we have live coverage with drew smith at the upper merion police station. >> we do expect her to face a judge this morning. we're waiting to learn her name from police here. they held her here overnight. investigators first figured out that woman's identity from mall surveillance video. it shows the accused kidnaper leaving the king of prussia mall with the baby in her arms just after 5:30 last night. police tell us she befriend this family in the food court area. when the baby started crying, the woman asked to hold him. at some point, she got up and left with this baby, leaving this family in a major panic. it prompted an intense police response throughout our area. nbc 10 was here at the police station as the family was gathered around and finally got

the good news, many hours later that that baby was found safe and unhurt. they had stopped to pray inside the police station. >> this was a hard, bad çnight. this is real hard for somebody to go through. >> reporter: police are crediting tips from the public that came after they put out an amber alert as well as several alerts through local media. you saw this woman's picture on nbc 10 throughout the night. they ended up finding her in tredyffrin township inside a home with that baby who, again, was not hurt. we do expect her to face a judge. we'll be here all morning and bringing you updates all morning. >> drew, thanks for the update. shoppers say a chaotic scene outside of king of prussia mall after this abduction happened. officers searched cars as they tried to leave the mall to check for the missing baby. our team coverage continues with nbc 10's monique braxton, live at the mall with more on how

that all-out investigation unfolded. monique, walk us through what happened. >> i was one of those people leaving the mall just after 7:00 last night when police stopped me at one of the exits. i asked them what was going on. they said a baby had been taken and quickly searched my back seat and then waved me on. we'll show you video of what other customers went through moments after the 7-month-old was taken from the food court at 5:45. police at every exit, stopping cars, checking them thoroughly, waving customers on their way. skyforce 10 was also over the mall, capturing the chaos. police were walking throughout the mall as well. the suspect was seen on surveillance videotape leaving the mall with the baby in her arms. twa hours later, an amber alert was broadcast on tv. the first one identified philadelphia county, the first one said chester/montgomery where the crime occurred and surrounding counties. after 9:00 last night, four

hours after the child was taken, the amber alert signal was sent to everyone's cell phone. so this morning, you're going to hear from alarmed customers and we're also reviewing the state police protocol when it comes to issuing amber alerts. live outside king of prussia mall, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. to recap, the baby who was missing for more than five hours is back with his family. police are holding the woman they say took the infant from the king of prussia mall. she's waiting to be charged. stay with nbc 10 and our nbc 10 app for continuing coverage throughout the morning. this morning, new information about a mercer county home invasion. police arrested this man, joseph blanch. he's accused of attacking a 92-year-old woman and ransacking her home. it happened earlier this week in ewing township. police say he's one of two men who assaulted and tied up the elderly victim. blanch faces a list of charges including kidnapping, burglary

and aggravated assault. the villanova's next step in their march to victory is just a day away in houston. final four fever is sweeping through nova's campus. hundreds of new final four t-shirts and other gear arrived at the book store and quickly flew off store shelves. villanova arrived in houston ahead of their matchup with the oklahoma sooners. the winner of tomorrow's game move on to play the national championship. the wildcats are preparing for the national stage and fans are feeling excitement. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in houston. matt, good morning. >> good morning, tracy. you can feel the excitement here in houston and the team is in this hotel behind me. they spent their first full day in houston yesterday, right here, the team hotel, all decked out with banners, quite the red carpet. we flew into houston to follow this final four team in their march to victory. quite a few nova fans here already. i'm told by the school that most

nbc 10. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> eight minutes after 4:00. it is a warm start. i'm tracking some showers in the area. an a possibility of thunderstorms during the day today. warm winds will be blowing. we're starting off warm in the 60s right now. we will warm well into the 70s, close to 80 degrees this afternoon. but over the weekend, a cold blast. you'll really feel it come together on sunday. 68 degrees right now in allentown, northeast philadelphia is 67 and atlantic city 61 with clouds in place. rain is falling, just short of philadelphia. we do have gusty winds and that's going to keep us warm through the day. winds are at 20 miles an hour, northeast philadelphia. stronger in the mountains and in parts of delaware. here come a few showers, light showers at this hour. moving through delaware and into new jersey with one exception. you can see that shower that's now moving into cumberland county off of delaware bay. that's a brief, heavy rainfall, moving off to the northeast. we'll have a few chances for rain during the day.

this first one and then you can see more to the west and that's going to be here later this morning. a chance of showers, possibly thunderstorms this afternoon. but it won't be an all-day rainfall. what we will see are the warm temperatures all day. highs in the low 70s for bethlehem, fleetwood and pennsburg. sunshine may break through at times in between showers and a chance of thunderstorms to warm temperatures into the middle 70s for souderton, abington and moorestown. at the shore, the wind will be blowing. a warmup for cape may, 76 degrees, occasional showers and a chance ofç a thunderstorm. a chance better in afternoon than this morning. malvern, wilmington, philadelphia, upper 70s for wilmington and philadelphia. berlin, new jersey, up to 78 degrees this afternoon. but keep an eye on the sky for the occasional showers and even a possibility of a thunderstorm. i'll take a look at the weekend and those colder temperatures when i come back in ten minutes.

leaders are keeping a close eye on north korea after it fired a short-range missile into the sea. it's the latest in a series of weapons launches for north korea. the latest launch is an apparent response to joint military exercises between the u.s. and south korea. back here at home, a history professor fired from villanova university is facing child pornography charges. he viewed the illegal material through a campus computer, officials say. villanova relieve ed hoss of hi duties. joshua bishop was put to death by lethal injection shortly after the supreme court denied his lawyer's request for a stay. he was found guilty in 1994 of a beating death. an accomplice pleaded guilty and got life in prison. two young men scale the fence that separates arizona from mexico. a mexican news crew happened to be there capturing them

breaching the 27-foot tall fence. both men were wearing backpacks, one using a walkie-talkie. this morning we're hearing from the parents of an infant who died after a routine trip to the dentist. she received a cavity filling at austin's children's dentistry. doctors told her mother there were complications with what they referred to as a standard procedure. >> i'll never get to see her grow up. >> she left her brother. they played. >> she was so full of life. >> she had the most beautiful raspy little voice. >> a spokesperson for the dental office called the situation a tragedy. authorities are trying to determine the exact cause of death. 4:15. 66 degrees outside. now to decision 2016, it comes to philadelphia.

john kasich ralliedç supporter at the union league yesterday. the ohio governor blasted gop rival donald trump as being unprepared for the white house. kasich also said he intends to compete aggressively in pennsylvania before the april 26th primary. speaking of donald trump, he met privately with the republican national committee in washington yesterday. the gop front-runner waved and gave a thumbs up after he spoke with officials for nearly an hour. the meeting was scheduled prior to trump's comments supporting some form of punishment for women who get abortions if the procedure were to become illegal. trump later reversed himself and taken out of context. meantime, republican ted cruz's name will appear on pennsylvania's primary ballot. a pittsburgh man argued that cruz was not eligible because he was born in canada. the democrats, hillary

scott kelly will officially hang up his space suit. kelly is retiring after more than 20 years of service. he recently set the u.s. record for the most timeç spent in space. kelly returned to earth last month after living at the international space station for nearly a year. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 1 minutes after 4:00. a warm and windy day is ahead. you can see the winds blowing the flag in center city. 67 degrees. now seeing some showers in philadelphia international. light showers, winds out of the south at 7 miles an hour. that's going to keep our temperatures elevated during the day. .winds will get stronger this afternoon. a light rainfall in south philadelphia. citizens bank park. we may see some breaks of sunshine. it's not going to be an all-day rainfall. with a few breaks of sun we'll get a quick warmup. the temperatures are even warm now, even before sunrise this morning. 60s from the pocono mountains to

the jersey shore and in between. 67 for wilmington and philadelphia. here come the clouds and the of some thunderstorms. mostly cloudy morning. the showers have been steadier in new jersey and delaware but not everybody is seeing them, right now, scattered showers moving in gloucester county, heading in camden and burlington county. a little bit of rainfall in south philadelphia. there's one heavier downpour that's moving to the northeast. that's not going to last either. more showers to the west and the southwest. that's going to keep the chance of showers with us through the day today. futurecast rainfall shows not a lot of activity at 8:00 but as we go into the 11:00 hour, there's another round of showers and possibly thunderstorms with heavy downpours. and then this afternoon, another line coming in from the west. that's 3:00 this afternoon. doesn't look all that impressive, may fall apart as it moves into the philadelphia

the morning. we're watching construction. some in center city, broad street between city hall and spring garden street. they're doing paving operations on 15th street at south penn square. that will be out there until about 5:00 this morning. another 45 minutes or so until that starts to clean up. not a lot of backups around it at this moment. in new jersey on route 73 in berlin, taughten avenue, not a lot of cars on the roads right now. they're dry. you'll be fine when you head out the door. i'll be back in ten minutes with another check on the majors in the area. elected leaders are promising to replace traffic lights removed in an effort to ease congestion in one philadelphia neighborhood. people say it was a huge mistake. >> we need our lights. you can't get out of the road. >> protesters hit the streets to demand the lights back. they blame a seers are of recent accidents along haverford road on the loss of the lights. demonstrators claim the

nbc 10 news starts now. >> they're happy, the public and everybody, you know. >> a grandfather expresses his family's relief that his grandson taken from the king of prussia mall is back with the family. police found that baby after an hours long search that stretched across several communities. they have a suspect in custody. here's a live look outside where we're tracking showers moving into our area.

4:30. 66 warm degrees outside. good friday morning. this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast. talk about the rain and the warm temperatures, bill. >> an umbrella is a good idea. you won't need the heavy coat, not this morning. the temperatures are warm. it is just a light rainfall so far for most of the area. we're seeing showers in delaware and south jersey on the light side. there's one area that is coming down heavier. that one cell is moving off to the northeast, heading towards egg harbor right now. the rainfall is falling at a rate of an inch and a third an hour. that's a good clip, coming down fairly hard there. it's not going to last long. no flood threat there. 65 degrees in doylestown. the 60s, everybody is in the 60s this morning. roxborough, south philadelphia, northeast philadelphia, everybody's getting a warm start. we will see even warmer temperatures as the day goes on. to start with, be holding steady at 9:00. 67 degrees. the wind will beç increasing. that will maintain our
