right now at 6:00 on the march to victory the villanova wild cats are minutes away from their matchup against oklahoma. good evening it's been seven years since the wild cats made it this far. fans are hoping they can take it all the way. tonight, we have a team of reporters following the action. we begin with nbc 10's keith jones who is live in houston. the excitement must be building and they are ready. >> reporter: yes, there is. you know, a lot of excitement out here in front of this camera. i'm pumped as a villanova aalmoalum.

this is nrg stadium, you were just mentioning it. the ncaa officials expect 76,000 people to attend. i talked with a villanova alum. >> reporter: 20 strides to center court and then. villanova junior carly rehearsed with three other students athletes ♪ and the rockets red glare >> when the seats get filled it will be like another world. >> reporter: she walked on to the women's team and earned a schol scholarship and she sings. >> a couple thousand of my closest friends. hoping for the best. >> reporter: a couple thousand, it could be a lot more.

>> could be a lot more. i was reminded by the men's basketball team, while there's 76,000 people here there's a few million watching at home. >> reporter: and thousands more traveling from the delaware valley at a rally in houston. >> i'm going to be lacing up and stepping on the court. it's great to be a fan. it's an amazing time to be at villanova. >> reporter: 2011 grad is rocking a 1985 championship ring for good luck. others are taking the '85 connection one step further. >> we're trying to find raleigh and have him over for dinner this summer. >> i'm not nervous i have a good feeling we're going to play well. i love the team. they're always mentally prepared. it will be a great game. >> reporter: it's about to tip off behind me. carly is probably preparing to sing the national anthem. i hope she's not too nervous. inside as oklahoma gets set to take on villanova wild cats.

wearing their nova gear, like going nuts. >> tonight we just need to be there for the boys, keep cheering them on the whole game. >> you got to have heart. we have heart, we have a heart. we have everything we need. i think we can get it done. >> we're going to go all the way, baby. we're going to go all the way. >> reporter: back here live, take a listen to these fans. we're just a few minutes away from tip off. fans are telling me they're expecting another tight game. last week it was like the cardiac cast. they're expecting this one to be close. imagine the atmosphere here if nova takes it tonight and heads to the national game on monday. >> everybody on their feet. count on nbc 10 for complete coverage of villanova's march to

victory. in addition to keith jones, john clark are in houston for the final four. we'll have post game coverage tonight on nbc 10 news at 11:00. turning to the winter like weather heading our way. you can see it's quiet in center city, but we're bracing for strong winds and colder temperatures to move in over night. violetta, these changes are pretty democratramatic. >> conditions are going to change very quickly. over the next couple of hours we're talking about winds slowly increasing maybe rain showers. it's after midnight the very strong winds are going to pick up. we're talking about the potential for guests to 60 miles per hour. those would be damaging winds any lingering showers with the colder air moving in can transition to snowshowers. we could see snow in spots north and west overnight. sunday morning, wind chills into the 20s and 30s.

it won't be until later in the afternoon the winds diminish. we're looking at gusts up to 28 miles per hour in reading. the winds are going to start to pick up after the midnight time frame. we'll take a closer look at the training with rain and snow that will be headed your way. we'll see how long this weather is going to stay across the area. denise? new at 6:00, crews rescued a pilot after his plane crashed in gloucester county. the pilot reported engine trouble before the plane went down in this grassy area in south harrison township. this is off monroeville road. at one point the plane flipped upside down. the pilot is doing okay. also new at 6:00, a 93-year-old man died after he was hit by a septa bus in montgomery county . the man was walking across the road around 1:00 when the bus made a left turn on to the road.

the victim was hit and pinned under the bus. no passengers were on the bus at the time. nbc 10 has uncovered an answer about the amber alert delay for hundreds of thousands of cell phone users on the night of the king of prussia mall kidnappi kidnapping. a mistake at the local level may have slowed down the process. george spencer has been investigating that for two days now. he's live at the king of prussia mall. >> reporter: amber alert has become a household term. for law enforcement it's a specific designation with specific protocols. tonight we know a dispatcher error might have slowed the notifications from reaching our cell phones. >> we're still in the early stages of looking into that. >> reporter: police chief tom nolan has the recovery of the seven week old baby was a quick success. the amber alert process is under review. police responded to the mall

abduction at 5:45 thursday evening. amber alerts didn't reach cell phones until four hours later. we asked what happened and today found a possible answer. >> our dismatcher may not have notified the police through the exact protocols they want. which could have potentially slowed the process down. >> reporter: it seems that dispatchers simply put the words amber alert into a standard missing person's advisories even though the process is more complicated. dispatchers are supposed to submit data to a national system and contact state police. with the lapse of communication a domino effect. state police say their watch center wasn't contacted until 7:45 thursday night. it took an hour to obtain pictures and information and their amber activation occurred at 8:48 p.m. that activation alerts the national center for missing children in washington, d.c. where officials actually push the button to notify your phone.

nolan says social media had a huge impact in the meantime. >> this case reflects how important it can be. probably more than any of us imagine. >> reporter: and the images on the facebook page were viewed 10,000 times. moving forward as they review this case they're going to consider how social media may fit in their strategy to future cases similar to the one that happened here in the future. they also say they're promising any mistakes around the amber alert process will be corrected moving forward. reporting live outside the king of prussia mall i'm george spencer nbc 10 news. thank you, george. the suspect in that case is this woman. police say she brought the baby from the mall to a nearby home thursday. the suspect told investigators she gave birth in february to a baby that died a few hours

later. moore is scheduled to appear in court april 15th. fallout in brussels why protesters clashed with police today as the city tries to recover from last month's terror attacks. plus, a three day sprint that presidential candidates have one state on the brain ahead of tuesday. why they're focused on wisconsin.

now, to decision 2016. where today, the focus is on wisconsin. presidential candidates from both parties are looking for votes ahead of the wisconsin primary on tuesday. now, in the democratic race, hillary clinton and bernie sanders are set to attend dinners there. the rivals continue to bicker over the date of possible debates before the new york primary april 19th. the democrats last debated in

march. republicans donald trump ted cruz and john kasich all have events in wisconsin today. trump took some shots at cruz. two recent opinion polls give cruz a lead in wisconsin. and the outcome in wisconsin could help determine whether trump can seize the republican nomination without a fight at the party's convention this summer. getting money out of politics. that's the message of this rally at independence mall. that's where hundreds gathered for the democracy spring campaign. afterwards these demonstrators stepped off on a ten day march to washington, d.c. they plan to hold a sit in at the u.s. capitol to call for free and fair elections. strengthening and supporting local public schools, that was the focus of a summit today in philadelphia. nbc 10 was on hand for the friends of neighborhood education conference in center city. hundreds of people representing dozens of school and civic

organizations were there. the goal is to strengthen friends groups that support local schools and to create new ones for schools that need help. >> education funding is not flowing very steadily. especially to philadelphia. in some ways we're trying to fill the gap but we're trying to do it in a way that's going to create a city wide movement. >> organizers say strong public schools are essential to the well-being of their surrounding communities. honoring women of excellence today in university city. wdas held a second hanulate women of excellence luncheon. the event paid tribute to women who achieve excellence and are contributors to the region. patti labelle received a trail blazing woman of excellence award. well it took a little while for the rain to clear out. overall it was a nice start to

the weekend. things will be changing quickly as we head into tonight. we're looking for the potential for damaging winds after the midnight time frame. tracking rain and snowshowers. that's right, most of that would likely be areas north and west. and we're also looking at colder temperatures as we head into sunday. a lot of changes. 58 right now in philadelphia. 59 in wilmington. upper gifts upper 50s to the allen town area. 52 in atlantic city and 55 in george town. take a look at what happens after midnight. now, this is just updated. it will be wind chills for the overnight hours literally off the charts there. after midnight, winds will pick up and we'll be in the 30s on sunday. but with wind chills into the 20s. we have a high wind warning in effect for the entire area. that means winds can top out at 60 miles per hour. beginning midnight and right through sunday morning. again, these would be damaging winds, the kind of winds you'd

see in a thunder storm. we're watching the system. this is going to continue eastbound. not only ushering in the winds and also the cold, we'll talk some rain showers over the course of the next couple of hours. here is 11:00. overnight with the colder air settling in, that can change over to snowshowers. again, we'll need to watch out for that. mostly north of philadelphia where the temperatures are going to be coldest, that's going to bring in temperatures into the lower 30s. below the freezing mark in many spots for your sunday morning. we keep things dry through the afternoon. the winds will let up later in the day. sunday night and early monday we have a similar set up. perhaps not quite as windy. rain showers that can start as snow for areas north and west around monday before the temperatures start to come up and that transitions over to rain as we head into monday. take aways here, gusts of 60 miles per hour possible with the peek gust time being between 2:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. secure and store loose items, bring in the garbage cans.

getting cold tonight and very windy with temperatures falling into the 30s but feeling like 20s in many spots. clouds and sunshine through the afternoon and getting much colder with highs in the 40s and again very high winds potentially damaging winds at the very least for the first part of the day. through the course of the afternoon they'll start to let up. again, it's going to be very cold and we have another disturbance that can bring in some rain or snowshowers as we head into your monday. a lot of changes next week. cooler temperaturewi. i'm danny mpommels. the phillies played today and it came down to the wire. the orange and black lock down their third straight win. highlights are next.
