protesters. nbc 10's lauren maik joins us live. >> there were fireworks in the presidential race today and they weren't just from the candidates. a rally here behind me turned into a bit of a shouting match today. and this all comes as the democratic candidates are trying to get voters in pennsylvania to listen. with delegates on the line pennsylvania gets a visit from the other clinton. >> i owe philadelphia a lot. >> reporter: the former president offering gratitude. this time the battle ground for hillary clinton and bernie sanders, who spent his second day in philly and a debate whether clinton is qualified to be president. >> let me suggest this. maybe the american people might wonder about your qualifications, madame secretary action when you voted for the war in iraq, the most disastrous foreign policy blunder in the

modern history of america. >> sanders spoke to the convention the day after clinton. who supporters gathered at this center. >> i like her style of leadership. she's a person that gets things done. >> her husband's efforts to make her case derailed by protesters. the former president started talking to them, defending his record and his wife on a crime bill. >> i don't know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent them out onto the street to murder other african-american children, maybe you thought they were good citizens, she didn't. she didn't. you are defending the people who killed the lives you say matter. >> the protest distracted attention from perhaps hillary clinton's surrogate who wanted this message out. >> stay with her. she'll never leave you. thank you and god bless you. >> now, i spoke to the protester who was shouting today.

first alert forecast. >> yeah, we sill have more rain in the forecast for this evening, so we're not done yet but the heaviest has moved through so we saw that today right around lunch time. the heavy rain, right now we're in a pretty big break. but there is more rain and right around washington and that is quickly approaching the area. near philly international, light rain here, a little heavier across 295 in parts of new jersey near the philly international airport. but as we go into the next few hours this cluster you see moving away from washington but right around baltimore, that's going to move into parts of delaware and new jersey. so this cluster is moving pretty quickly around 50 to 60 miles an hour to the northeast, so seaford, expect by 6:26. dover 6:25. upper darby by 7:15. so that's the cluster of storms we're watching for the next few hours here. but again, there's more scattered showers in the forecast as we go through the evening. by 7:00 p.m. there you see it. we expect more rain around even by 8, 9:00 we'll still have

showers around the area, but they will start to fizzle out by 9:00 p.m. then more clearing as we go into tomorrow. timing looks good for the big villanova parade so i'll show you that forecast plus a wintry mix for part of your weekend. police are investigating reports of two sexual assaults in two days on the west chester university campus. brandon hudson tells us a student is accused in one of those instances. >> reporter: nbc 10 obtained this mug shot of austin edie not long after police arrested him for a reported sex assault on campus. police saidy raped a female student and in an on campus parking garage, the first of two reported sex assaults, that surprised students we spoke to. >> it's scary to walk home by yourself now. like everyone's more scared to like walk by themselves at night. >> initially i was like a little bit concerned.

obviously that's a scary thing. >> reporter: investigators say both crimes are unrelated, they are looking for the second suspect in a reported assault that happened to a woman in a residence hall. this comes months after pennsylvania governor tom wolf announced the it's on us p.a. campaign to bring awareness to on campus sex assault and violence against women. it's an affiliate of joe biden's national it's on us campaign launched late last year. we found out governor wolf's initiative is supported by west chester university interim president dr. christopher. the university says it wilt not tolerate violencen campus. >> we want them to know safety is our priority and we're here for them. >> a spokeswoman says it e-mailed alert to students and is encouraging them to report anything suspicious. counseling is available for the victims. at west chester university, "nbc

10 news." the woman accused of kidnapping a newborn from the king of prussia mall is out on bail. the district attorney says cherie amoore posted the cash needed for her to leave the prison. she is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next friday. investigators say she is the woman in this surveillance video carrying the 7 week old boy out of the mall a week ago. the mother says amoore befriended her, then followed her family to the food court before stealing the baby right from his stroller. nouf to new information on this week's deadly derailment. federal railroad administration says amtrak workers weren't following basic safety rules when the crash occurred. amtrak has been ordered to retrain workers on basic safety rules. today's directive stated federal and inter. internal regulations were not

planter boxes that go in the garden outside of the pastor center. april is national child abuse prevention month. students in one county middle school got a lesson today that administrators hope will last a lifetime part of a drill. police flooded the school with a realistic lesson on what to expect if an intruder should come in. troopers demanded a head count from the teacher and then shuffled students out. >> build muscle memory for the kids. the more they can experience if this god forbid were to happen they are going to be ready and their body is going to act on instinct. >> preparation that this district does is phenomenal. we'd like to see more get on board with it. >> police learned a lot today, and so did the students, they took part in several drills for situations they hope they never have to encounter.

well, most of the heavy rain is gone but we still do have showers that are about to move in, so evening showers are going to stay in the forecast for the next several hours. then big improvements tomorrow just in time for the villanova parade in center city. i'll show you that in a second. into the weekend it's going to get colder and we have a wintry mix in the forecast too. so i'll show you the timing of that in a minute. mid 50s through the lehigh valley, 60 in philadelphia, bensalem, glassboro, 61 in dover. after the heavy rain we actually did see sunshine, it helped warm things up a little bit but we were still pretty mild today. and rainy. but the heavy rain has moved off into new england and now we're seeing some more showers approaching the area. even some thunderstorms can't rule that out for the rest of the evening. it's all coming in from the west and southwest so. the showers that i showed you around washington earlier, those are getting closer but we already have light rain moving into the philadelphia area, west deptford across 95 at 295, west

deptford seeing more moderate rain. that's not a big shower though of it it will continue moving to the northeast. we also have some more rain moving into parts of new castle county, also chester county and a bigger cluster farther down to the south and west. so this one around maryland this big cluster of yellow and orange you'll see that moving into delaware soon. it is heading in this direction. moving pretty quickly though. so if you are in seaford, closer to 6:30. dover close to 6:52, bridgeton 7:18 and vineland around 7:35. that area is going to move through so we do expect scattered showers to continue. this is future weather. by 7:00 p.m. we'll still see rain around the area, and then we really clear out as we get closer to midnight. going into tomorrow, breezy, cool day. mix of sun and clouds but we do stay on the dry side. that is great news for the big villanova parade, 20th and market is where it starts. if you're going to get there early by noon around 47 degrees,

breezy and chilly. cool by 1:00, near 50, low 50s as we go through the afternoon tomorrow. then we go into your weekend. we're going to be colder, again, and we're going to see a clipper system approach the area. this is saturday night at 9:00 in the morning. the models pretty consistent. showing a wintry mix, maybe some rain therics med in too. snow to the west and northwest. temperatures above freezing so most of it melting. accumulations on grassy surfaces, 1:00 p.m. now and then we'll see it clearing out as we go later into saturday night. a little to no accumulation. if anything it's going to be on the grass mainly, but we don't expect it to be sticking to the roads though we cannot rule that out. be careful if you will be driving at that time. of course more updates tonight and tomorrow. chance of showers this evening, then we get colder, tomorrow a mix of sun and clouds, breezy and cool, more sunshine than what we had today. 53 for the high over the weekend. we start off with cold mornings,
