thousands of people on ever side. i talked to the players, to the coaches. here's what they said it was like to be on that bus. >> it was just mind blowing, and i think we're all still walking on air right now. >> this is definitely surpasses my expectation. this is great. >> the phillies won in '08. i support every philadelphia team and to be part of one, part of a parade of this magnitude, it's unbelievable. >> senior ryan arcidiacono who dished it for the win said he was the recipient of a pass. >> there was kids throwing me beers. i couldn't drink them. i had to hand them off. that was probably the funniest. i was like i couldn't. i couldn't do it. >> one word used overwhelming, junior kris jenkins. >> i didn't expect this many people to show up. when they got the turnout it

did, it was humbling. >> in fact, so many turned out they had to change the parade route. >> they said it was too dangerous to go out. >> it's hard to say a dream come true because you never dream of this. i was -- i think all of us were shocked you know, as the parade grew down market street we were in amazement of the crowd. >> reporter: back live now, stragglers in the shadow of city hall here at dilworth park. they are still cleaning up as far as i heard no major incidents to report but i can definitely tell you that villanova fans, alums, they are going to have a good time tonight. a lot of them are still out here showing their love for the team. live in dilworth park, keith jones, "nbc 10 news." >> love his big smile all day. lauren mayk was also out among the crowds. for a lot of people this is an excuse to start the weekend early, right?

>> reporter: yeah. they may need to just rest. people had all kinds of reasons, students, alums, philly fans, so excited for a championship team. but they all came together for a day to remember. >> nova. >> this was the day nova nation took over philadelphia. and this crowd loved it. this was the parade for the whole city, the whole philly region. it's a memory-making day for kids who remember the special trip to city hall, something special enough your parents said it's okay to skip class. >> season ticket holders my kids go to so many games. >> aren't they supposed to be in zmool. >> we're not talking about that. >> michael remembers being here for the championship parade in '85. now his kids carry on the tradition. >> are you excited? >> yes! >> so there are new fans.

>> we don't get many championship parades so you got to take advantage of it. >> and long time wildcats. >> we got married at the chapel at villanova. >> soaking it all in. >> villanova all the way. >> the players they cheered on are today's stars. but the memories could last a lifetime. >> reporter: you know, there were a lot of photos being taken today, a lot of cell phones up capturing moments. but it was really amazing to watch the kids' faces. a lot of them don't have cell phones so they were just watching everything. taking it all in. live in center city, lauren mayk, "nbc 10 news." snapshots in their mind's eye. sky force 10 was above villanova station where students and staff were out in full force this morning. there were no classes today. so big crowd gathered to wait for the train to take them all

in to center city for the parade. nbc 10's matt delucia has been up there seems like forhours now monitoring traffic. >> tell us what you can see from above? >> reporter: we had quite a bit of sunlight out here a while ago and it -- what a perfect day for the parade. let's give you a view down there on the ground. this is right over here where the stage was, over at dilworth park. a lot of people have cleared out. you have most of the people that you see down there now leaving from work. and you got 15th street here, right at market street. this was all shut down during the parade. so this just reopened in the past hour. we saw a lot of the street sweeping vehicles, they were hosing down the street. you can see they have done a pretty good job but just over to the top portion of the screen you see they are still in the process of moving some of those ba barricades so there is a closure there. two lanes appear to be getting

by. so it does appear to be a normal rush hour, on a friday evening. people were very anxious about getting home from work, especially in light of all of the people we saw down there, thousands and thousands of people packed within the city hall area. trying to watch this parade. and fortunately, everyone has cleared out. people are getting to their cars, getting through the streets and getting to where they need to go. because this area was shut down for a while. it has reopened and now of course they clean up but people are able to get where they need to go. matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." >> for more sights and sounds from today's victory parade go to nbc10.com and the nbc 10 app. it's all there. >> right now at 5:00, a mangled mess is all that's left of this car that crashed into a building in south philadelphia. tonight we know two people inside that car were killed. nbc 10 has obtained this dash cam video showing the crash as it happened. right now police are trying to

figure out what caused that driver to lose control. brandon hudson has been following the investigation. he joins us with the latest. what can you tell us? >> reporter: we came here to get the latest on this crash. last hour i told you news of the crash in that area is not surprising. when i called the company that owned the building a spokesman told me this is not the first time someone crashed their car on their property. unfortunately, this time two people lost their lives. it's video that is tough to watch but hard to turn away from. a car swerving through lanes early in the morning before the driver crashes, and kills two back seat passengers. kim was in shock when he shared this video with nbc 10. >> the car was head on, it hit the building and kind of flipped over and then landed like that. >> a construction crew was at the scene in the daylight hours. they were fixing the wall where the car smashed on christopher

columbus boulevard. philadelphia police say the two passengers who died were not wearing seat belts. we found out one of the passengers is ben jimmy, a 23-year-old from upper darby, the other passenger is not identified at this time. the driver in front seat passenger went to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. >> started like racing. >> he was going home when he saw the erratic driving. so he followed and it turned into a day he won't soon forget. >> i left the light and he like cut me off. >> police say no one is facing charges at this time. live in brewery town, brandon hudson, "nbc 10 news." jury deliberations will continue in the case of two philadelphia police officers charged with beating a man. jurors were sent home for the weekend. officers allegedly beat a man they pulled over during a 2013 traffic stop. prosecutors say rivera was

attacked by the officers for no reason after he was mistaken for a drug courier. prosecutors say surveillance video found by rivera's girlfriend allegedly shows the officers beating rivera. the officers deny the charge saying rivera attacked them when they pulled him over for running a stop sign. rivera died last year after getting hurt in a street fight. >> we have learned that philadelphia historical commission voted unanimously this afternoon to deny historic recognition to the white house murdered mob boss bruno lived. his daughter tried to get the house certified as a place of historic significance. you may know that bruno was shot and killed outside the house in the 900 block of schneider avenue back in 1980. high school students caught drinking under age. that's not the only reason people are outraged about this photo. tonight, new fallout over this

people. the terrorist group isis took responsibility. today belgian authorities announced the arrest of the so called man in the hat believed to be the third attacker seen walking through the airport. police say he was also involved in the november paris attacks. back at home we're getting a first look at what a new veterans memorial will look like in lehigh county. so far that memorial has received $15,000 in donations but it will cost at least $45,000 to build. engraved bricks are on sale for the site. the memorial will not be completed until may of next year. and this now, anonymous donor delivered a $1 million check in honor of the late attorney general beau biden. a chair to honor the tribute today. the institute ofs in national education say the money will be used to rescue one student a year who is danger in their own

like multiple sclerosis and terminal cancer. well, a cold and windy day but at least we don't have the snow yet. we will have it tomorrow for part of the area. the clouds are here now. they are going to stay around tonight and tomorrow we will bring rain-snow mix through the area and some of you could be seeing snow. that would be wet snow too. i'll show you the timing in a second after all of that leaves. we go into sunday morning and freezing temperatures return. we're talking about 20s sunday morning with the freeze watch for much of the area right now. monday that is the phillies' home opener and we'll start to get milder. mid-40s through the lehigh valley. 50 in philadelphia. 47 in trenton. around 50 degrees for much of new jersey and delaware and winds are still gusting near 30 miles an hour. it's all ahead of this system. it's not a very impressive system. it's a clipper system around chicago with rain and snow.

but as far as heavy precipitation we're not seeing too much. it will move in to start your weekend. in the meantime we're going to stay dry as we go into tonight. so this is future weather as we go overnight temperatures drop into the 30s, it's going to get colder tonight. then tomorrow morning here you see it by 8:00 a.m., and the computer models have been consistent on the timing of this. and pretty much on the placement of the rain and snow. so by 8:00 in the morning we could see a rain-snow mix around philadelphia through parts of new castle county. rain likely in new jersey and delaware. temperatures there should be around 40 degrees. north and west of philadelphia we should be seeing mostly snow. or maybe a rain-snow mix. but temperatures will be in the 30s in spots. 10:00 a.m. we're still seeing this move through. and we have to watch the timing closely because if it moves in early enough the temperatures could be a little bit colder and we could start to see sticking, mostly i don't think we will. by 2:00 in the afternoon a rain-snow mix continuing, temperatures above freezing,

then saturday night and it all clears out. then we get colder as we go into sunday morning. 7:00 a.m. in the 20s, areas that see heavier pockets of precip could be seeing freezing as we go into sunday morning. maybe some icy conditions so we'll have to watch that closely too. for the snow forecast, mostly it will be grassy accumulation. it will be a wet snow, so the chances of it sticking on the roads, they are going to be pretty small but there is a chance some of this could stick on the roadways early. the grassy accumulation is going to be the best bet here. south jersey and delaware, mainly rain for these areas. the warmest temperatures across the area. then we go through philadelphia, new castle county up to trenton. maybe an inch or less. it's going to mix with rain so hard to accumulate especially falling right in the middle of the day. lehigh valley, poconos, possibly 1 to 2 inches. we'll have to watch those temperatures closely. either way we're going to see a rain-snow mix tomorrow. tonight cloudy and cold, dry, 38 for the low in philadelphia, 32

right now at 5:29:58, a sunny cool start to the weekend. but big changes on the way. >> nbc 10 is tracking snow, first alert radar shows it moving in from the west and when i say nbc 10 i mean meteorologist sheena parveen is tracking snow. she is here with a closer look at the timing. >> it's going to be here to start the weekend. it's not unusual to see something like this this time of the year, if the it's cold enough. and if we have a small clipper system like the one you're seeing on the radar. that's all still very far away around chicago, locally we are dry but that rain and snow, it's heading in this direction. it's not going to be here tonight so friday night looks good. it's chilly around 50 degrees and a pretty strong wind. still gusting near 30 miles an hour. it's going to stay windy and chilly as we go through the next few hours and the wind will diminish overnight. picking back up again tomorrow though. this is future weather, tonight we drop down in the 30s, by tomorrow morning. then we go into your saturday

morning, 9:00 a.m., already seeing the approach of this system. some snow north and west of philadelphia, rain, most likely through south jersey and parts of delaware because temperatures there will be warmer. we'll watch the timing of this closely. if it moves in early enough we do have areas through the lehigh valley that could be freezing so any snow falling would have a better chance of sticking. mostly, though, any accumulation will be on grassy surfaces and the chance of it sticking would be a little less likely. so coming up i'll show you through the rest of the afternoon for saturday. it's going to last for a while for saturday and colder as we go into sunday. details straight ahead. an amazing end to an amazing season. nova nation was out in full force in center city for the celebration. people from across the area and beyond filled market street for this victory parade in honor of

the villanova wildcats 2016 college basketball champions. >> today, everybody in philadelphia is a part of the nova nation. >> we're going out as national champions and thank you for everything. we love you guys. go cats. >> villanova canceled classes today so students and staff could celebrate. by the looks of the crowd that's what most of them did. this was the view from sky force 10 earlier this afternoon. a university official told nbc 10's keith jones at least 100,000 people packed into center city for today's victory parade. >> that's so great because how'd they all get home though? tim furlong tried to fit them all in storm force 10 and it didn't work. they headed to trains and buses instead. >> reporter: starting to worry about my own commute. you saw what it looked like from the sky and the ground. but as we take a walk east on

market street toward city hall, everything looks like a normal friday night at this point. but septa telling me the bus detours are lifted. all in all normal friday night commuters are doing okay. take a look. a while ago in suburban station, this is where most of the riders get back to the suburbs. it was crowded, more than unusual. septa hasn't tallied but they know they presold about 2,000 more tickets than they would on a normal friday. many of the people are already back out of the city. some of them are staying. maybe have dinner and avoid the crowd heading home later. commuters who do this every day they tell me the parade isn't really slowing down the commute home tonight. >> no problem getting in, so far no problem getting out. i think because everybody got out, seems normal. >> not too bad. >> no. great day. >> hasn't been bad so far. seems like septa got their act together. a lot of people coming in and

snow, is going to start to move into the area. currently it's around chicago, and the great lakes, locally though, we're dry. we're going to stay dry as we go through friday evening. you don't have to worry about this rain or snow. but by tomorrow morning we need to worry about part of the area. there's not a lot of moisture with it and as it moves through it's not going to get very heavy but we'll be watching it closely. the clouds around. future weather as we go through tonight. clouds increase, temperatures drop down in the 30s by tomorrow morning and then you see by 8:00 in the morning some rain and snow across the area. the best chance of rain will be in new jersey and most of delaware where temperatures will be in the 40s, but some spots like new castle county at least around the wilmington area through philadelphia and north and west we could see a rain-snow mix. we'll have to watch the timing because through the lehigh valley temperatures could be close to freezing. if this moves in at that time which wouldn't be too much earlier than 8:00 a.m. we could see some of it sticking. the chances will be small and the best accumulation will be on

grassy surfaces. 11:00 tomorrow morning we're still seeing the system across the area. still looking at snow north and west, rain through new jersey and delaware, still a wintry mix as we go into the early afternoon. then we go into saturday night, finally it all clears out but we get a lot colder sunday morning, temperatures in the 20s, we have a freeze watch out for most of the area again because of the cold temperatures, if you have sensitive plants cover them or bring them inside if you can. snow forecast keep in mind mainly grassy accumulations but there is a chance it could stick early on to roads, mostly melting, though, so at least that's good. especially falling right during the day. main through south jersey and delaware, possibly an inch or less around the philadelphia area. wet snow though. through the lehigh valley and the poconos possibly 1 to 2 inches. more on this as we go later into tonight. for tonight cloudy and cold, 3 tate low in philadelphia, near freezing north and west. tomorrow the rain and snow showers move in, a windy day, winds gusting near 30 miles an
