tracking shower chances for your monday morning commute and for the home opener tomorrow afternoon. let's take a live look at citizens bank park tonight where it is unseasonably cold tonight. it will be in the 60s tomorrow but gusty winds could blow through for the first pitch. good evening. we're live at the stadium tonight getting you ready for the opening day festivities, but let's start with nbc 10 glen hurricane schwartz. we've got your game time forecast. a big question, could we have a rain delay? >> i don't think there's going

to be a rain delay. there may not be any rain during the game itself. there is going to be some rain around during the day tomorrow and there's going to be some wetness in the field and in the stands and the clouds are coming. the rain is not that far behind. you can see the showers in ohio coming into western pennsylvania. they're moving in quickly and the future cast shows that some of them will be in the area during the morning rush. it's not a whole lot of rain. there's so much patchy light showers. there's the late morning and look what happens in the afternoon. the clouds are there and then even the clouds start to break up and that sunshine is going to help allow the temperature to go up into the 60s. the wind is going to be blowing out of the south which will be blowing a strong wind out to left field making it a little easier for home runs during the afternoon and look at the temperatures go up into the mid-60s and i am predicting that it would generally stay dry.

so there's certainly not going to be a rainout there. a better chance of rain on tuesday. i'll have the timing with that and see if that's going to affect tuesday's game. so the weather gods, they might be on the phillies side but momentum, that definitely is. a two-game win streak into tomorrow's home opener. they play the padres right here on nbc 10. we're live at the ballpark with the insider's view of what to expect tomorrow. it is baseball season. >> reporter: it's spring baseball in philadelphia. the team is back home here right now after taking the series against the mets in new york and take a look behind me. opening day here in philadelphia. watch the game right here on nbc 10 and we got an inside look, a preview of what fans can expect tomorrow. a mile above citizens bank park, u.s. navy jumpers descend into the stadium below.

hitting the home. the homeowner was sleeping upstairs when the suv crashed just after 7:00 this morning. had he been on the first floor, this story may have had a devastating end. >> what did you think when you walked downstairs and you saw a car inside your house? >> well, i thought it was -- i couldn't think. i didn't think nothing. i thought it was a dream, but it wasn't. i'm not lucky. i'm blessed. i'm blessed by the best. >> witnesses saw the driver run away from the scene of the crash. police believe he was intoxicated and driving way too fast. the owner of the home sent us pictures of the damage caused by the crash and to see those photos and to read more about the search for the suspect, you can head over to the nbc 10 app. a woman was found dead this morning inside her car in a creek near the salem county sportsman club. the woman made a wrong turn after leaving an event last

night and ended up in the creek. a worker found her car this morning. a call to end gun violence pedalled from new jersey into pennsylvania today. they honored the 26 people killed in a school shooting. their destination is washington, d.c., but as nbc 10's drew smith explains they are in westchester right now getting their message out to people in the delaware valley. >> reporter: it was a well deserved dinner break for team 26. one rider, the simple pleasure of a bike ride, but this has not been easy especially as the team went up against snow yesterday. >> i don't think we would be on there but for the significance of what we're doing. >> reporter: he's from newtown. his daughter's third grade teacher was killed at sandy hook.

this ride now in its fourth year is act gun reform. >> gun violence isn't stopping and it's continuing at an unacceptable rate. >> reporter: today at philadelphia city hall, a cheering crowd greeted the team where they met the mayor and mothers of gun victims. their stories are similar to what he heard in sandy hook and the ride begins saturday. >> one minute at a time, but moments like this really help. >> the riders' green jerseys are covered with signs of peace, something they hope to bring to cities across the country by convincing people in power to make changes. >> we're not going to give up until we do a final ride which i hope will be a celebratory ride. >> reporter: the team plans to meet with the governor of delaware and they'll pedal into the nation's capital on tuesday. we are learning more tonight

about the extremist who bombed brussels last month. belgian authorities say the same men had initially planned to attack france. prosecutors say the men were surprised how fast the investigation was moving so they decided to attack brussels inste instead. four men were arrested in raids over the weekend. one of them is the man in the hat police were looking for. he was seen walking with two other bombing suspects at the airport in belgium. see something say something could soon mean get something. a bill that would require a $25,000 reward for information generated from social media that prevents a terror attack. he says the public should say something if they see something on their news feed. >> in fact, it's fair to say that the social media has become isis' we of choice to recruit, plan and attempt to execute

terror attacks in the united states. >> he says current law does not cover tips generated through social media. former nfl player will smith is dead. they don't know that he was targeted. investigators say hayes rear ended smith and his wife in new orleans. the two men argued and that's when police say hayes pulled out a gun and shot smith several times, then shot smith's wife in the leg. she survived. his attorney says his client was not the aggressor. police are investigating a crash involving a delaware state trooper and another driver in stanton. it happened just after 5:00 this afternoon. the trooper and the other driver were taken to the hospital. both are expected to be okay.

police gave the community a look inside their station today. the department hosted an open house this afternoon. adults and kids could get a look at the technology that officers use to fight crime. and this kid even playing some tug of war with one of the department's canines. back at home, dozens of airmen are home with their families in delaware tonight after serving overseas. we'll take you to their homecoming ceremony coming up next. plus, stupid and worthless. those are the words donald trump is tossing around. we'll explain that and catch you up from all of the campaign trail today in decision 2016. well, the knsnow is gone finally. and so are the winter like temperatures. i'm tracking the return of

double digits. almost all the candidates will be back tomorrow. >> the ted cruz actually has events in california tomorrow. the huge delegate prize at the end of the primary season. now, cruz and trump have been battling it out this weekend for delegates. it is a new phase of the primary race and the man heading up trump's convention delegate operations appeared on meet the press today. >> trump was doing very well on a model that made sense, but now has the campaign has gotten to the end stages a more traditional campaign has to take place and trump real iedss that. >> meantime donald trump slamming the boston globe as stupid and worthless. his comments are in response to a satirical front page that lampoons a potential trump

presidency. it reads deportations to begin. another article mentions work being halted on a wall at the mexico border. in an editorial the globe calls the satire an exercise of taking a man at his word. while campaigning for his wife in new york, clinton said he compensated by pushing for the release of some girlfriends of drug dealers earlier than their original harsh sentences. >> whoa, whoa, whoa. wait. wait. >> the former president tangled with some protesters over the bill while he campaigned last week. the protesters voiced their anger over the law and clinton defended his record and his wife. women's health advocates will campaign for hillary

clinton tomorrow in pennsylvania and that includes a stop here in philadelphia. richards will attend an event in center city before making an appearance at state college. the cia won't water board ever again even if the president orders it. in an exclusive interview the director of the cia says his agency will not use harsh interrogation practices. he said he would not use techniques of torture to get information from anyone. during their campaign they've said they don't consider water boarding to be torture. president obama banned the practice in 2009. secretary of state john kerry arrived in japan to attend the annual meeting of g 7 foreign ministers. discussions will be on extremism and he's the first to visit.

130 members of the delaware air national guard are back home with their families tonight after serving overseas. the troops marched into the new castle base in front of governor, senator chris coons and their mission involved flying troops. while this was a welcome home ceremony for most of the troops 13 airmen were deployed to various overseas, and local stations. well, on this seasonably cold tonight, but not too chilly for walking the dog.

it's got to be done. at st. joe's where the winter coats are back in fashion tonight. they are much needed, but glen, spring of sorts coming back this week? >> yeah, as early as tomorrow. tomorrow afternoon. temperatures in the mid-60s after snow yesterday. up to five inches of snow in melbourne and they did have measurable snow officially in philadelphia. we've got rain showers coming into the area for monday. generally in the morning. we're tracking some heavier rain that's coming in on tuesday and warmer weather overall this week although we're not talking about temperatures in the 70s. we'll settle for 60s a lot of us including those going to citizens bank park. it would have been miserable in the last couple of days but not so tomorrow. 42 degrees right now. the wind is out of the south trying to warm us up.

it's 36 degrees. 38 in westchester. 39 in mount holly. 38 in glass burrow. but the temperature is really going to get a chance to drop a whole lot more than it has already. temperatures will be going back to normal, the average is 62 degrees. yesterday we had 43. today's high is 50. tomorrow up to 66. tuesday 62, but temperatures may be falling during the afternoon. so tomorrow is going to be one of the warmest days of the week. the clouds are starting to increase from the west. here come the rain showers just coming into pennsylvania now. they're moving quickly and they could be in here by the morning rush, but we're talking about light showers and we're talking about the moving out by the time the phillies play in the afternoon. the wind blowing out to left, 15 to 25 miles an hour and that will bring warmer weather in

here. some sunshine in the afternoon. and that's quite a change from what we're going to see in the morning. there are the clouds and the showers, especially north and west and not all that heavy, but there's some sunshine breaking out during the game, temperatures into the 60s and then here comes the stronger system. that's going to be coming in on tuesday and it could very well affect the morning rush with some heavy rain, maybe even some thunderstorms and then the temperatures fall. clouds increase tonight, not as cold as last night. still kind of chilly for this time of the year, but tomorrow during the day it warms up into the mid-60s becoming windy and warmer. those winds 15 to 20 miles per hour. not then tuesday, the heavy rain coming in generally in the morning. clearing us out for the night game that the phillies are playing and then wednesday we cool down a little bit. clouds start to come back later

sixers general manager stepped down in a 13-page letter. a new leader introduced in the front office. co-lange lo stepped down and his son was named executive of the year twice in the nba. while leadership is changing colangelo doesn't have issues with the profit. >> i do think it's been a success and the reason i say that is because we're at a jumping off point now where the organization is poised to take a major leap forward because of what's transpired over this last few years of what i'm going to call a measured rebuilding process and you know, when we move forward you'll be excited about the pieces that come to the table. >> both sam and i and others recognize the need to add talent to the organization.

to grateful that the things that were damaged can be repaired. >> i should mention that the woman who lives here was taken to the hospital. her husband said she had a medical emergency after she witnessed everything that happened here. he said she's expected to be okay and that is all that matters to them because they do have insurance. meantime, police asking for your help in tracking down this driver. reporting in ben salem, nbc 10 news. new information tonight on a deadly crash . poor weather conditions likely played a role in this crash that claimed the life of a 3-year-old girl. the 3-year-old was strapped in a car seat, but the impact threw the child from the car and she died at the scene. tomorrow a controversial abortion bill is set to take center sage in harrisburg.

a bill that would ban elective abortions after 20 weeks. the current law bans them after 24 weeks. on friday, they urged lawmakers not to hold this vote. if the house passes the bill it will still need senate approval before making it to the governor's desk. a school is forced to close at the end of the school year because of declining enrollment and rising education costs. the school in hilltown will close its doors for good in june. students have the option to attend nearby catholic schools. big day tomorrow at citizens bank park for the phillies and for us too because we will have the phillies home opener right here on nbc 10. they'll be kicking off their home stand coming off two straight wins including today's

we'll get you set for the padres and the phillies tomorrow on nbc 10. some perfect baseball weather today in south philadelphia. the softball league getting their field ready at the rec center this afternoon. the big question though, for glen is how the forecast is going to look for the phillies. we don't like to think about rain with our baseball, but what do we need to be prepared for? >> we'll see a little bit of rain in the morning and it might scare a few folks but i think it's going to be out of here by the time the phillies are playing tomorrow. the clouds are moving in right now with this system that's coming from the west. you can see two little sprinkles in central pennsylvania already and more significant rain and it's coming to near pittsburgh. this is not the strongest weather system that's going to be coming here the next couple of days. a few sprirpg nkles around for

temporary. delivering the goods. today a space x cargo ship arrived at the international space station carrying 7,000 pounds of supplies, experiments and hardware. that includes the first inflatable room for astronauts. a launch accident last june put shipments on hold. nasa's planet hunting spacecraft is in trouble. the spacecraft is responsible for detecting nearly 5,000 planets outside our solar system. it slipped into emergency mode sometime last week. nasa engineers are now trying to fix the problem from 75 million miles away. >> a wild weekend especially yesterday when he had up to five

inches of snow. we have some rain showers coming in during the damond. generally some lighter showers. heavier rains coming in and overall a warmer week than what we saw last week. good thing, the phillies are coming home. be nice to play in tomorrow's weather as opposed to yesterday's weather. 42 degrees right now. the wind is calm. 5 degrees warmer than it was yesterday. the average high is up to 62, but we were only 43 yesterday. 50 today, but 66 on monday. 62 tuesday before the temperature actually goes down during the day once the front comes through. temperatures now in the low to mid-40s for the most part. 36 degrees, 38 in mount holly. the light southerly wind right now is going to become a stronger southerly wind tomorrow and that is going to be pushing those temperatures up.

we've got clouds moving in from the west. we've got rain moving in from the west. not all that heavy in western pennsylvania. the second batch will be more significant so go through the morning, it's not going to cool off that much compared to the way it is right now and then once those morning showers move out, some sunshine breaks out in the afternoon. it's going to be nice for the phillies tomorrow afternoon and some sun coming out, but windy and then here comes the next system. that's going to bring heavy rain at least for a period of time on tuesday morning. see the temperatures starting off around 60 degrees. the rain comes in and then look at the temperature drop. so by tuesday afternoon, it's getting colder, but by the time the phillies play tuesday night the rain is out of here so they're getting lucky with the first couple of games at least weather wise. the wind is going to be blowing out 15 to 25 miles per hour and
