>> reporter: well, ted, right now, there's still plenty more questions to ask, but just why they removed the 4-year-old from the house with neighbors looking on solemnly, some even tearfully. but the crime scene unit is still on scene. continuing their investigation. they arrive here around 2:30 this afternoon. to east mayfield street. that's where they found the 4-year-old with a gunshot wound to her face. a weapon was ground here on the scene. neighbors, family and friends gathered around, immediately stunned when they found out what happened. >> she was the big sister, little brother. >> reporter: now, neighbors say the 4-year-old lives here at the home with her mother, her father and a number of siblings, i'm not sure how many people were

home at the time of the shooting and at this hour. no arrests have been made. reporting live in kensington. i'm andrea courtanas. >> officers found a victim lying in middle of the street just before 4:00 this morning. the 26-year-old is in the hospital with extremely critical conditions with head injuries. new at 6:00, police are investigating the report of a man posing as a police officer. investigators say a driver reported being pulled over on north maple avenue on wednesday, by a man in aunmarked car with emergency lights and a siren. the man reportedly identified himself as a police officer. that car is believed to be a gold ford crown victoria with possible plates s80-oax. turning now to the countdown

to the democratic national convention. 100 days left before thousands of people descend on philadelphia for the dnc. organizers say they are ready. and today revealed more about what we can expect at the convention. nbc 25's randy gyllenhaal is livety constitution center with details. the dmj is expected to give philadelphia a major economic boost. >> reporter: tens of thousands of people each staying at least four nights in local hotels, all of it without that massive security detail with saw during the papal visit and it's just over 100 days away. >> hello, philadelphia! >> reporter: just two blocks away from the first place of democracy, crowds kick off the countdown to the convention. >> 100 days left, we're on time, on task and on budget. >> reporter: officials expect 50,000 guests and 6,000 delegates. many will hit local barings and restaurants fuelling a $300 million injection to the

to come back together. >> reporter: you can't expect both delegates clinton and sanders to be back in the area after the new york primary. clinton has said she'll number philadelphia sometime later. live in old city. >> donald trump threatened a rough july for the republican national committee if they don't straighten the system. in upstate new york today, trump held campaign rallies in syracuse and watertown. he told the crowd he's glad to be back in his home state. the candidates have several issues including unemployment, jobs and building a wall. and he attacked rival ted cruz. >> i even heard lying ted the other day, we must build the wall. i said where did that come from? where did that come from? he's a liar. >> trump also called the delegate distribution system rigged and unfair to the voters. the campaign has all but thrown in the towel in the wyoming delegate contest. voting began today for the 14

open national delegates at the state's gop convention. pope francis wants to put to rest speculation that he's getting involved in american politics. this after a visit from democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders. the vermont senator met with the pontiff at the vatican this morning. pope francis called the visit a sign of good manners and nothing more. the brief meeting took place before the pope left for his one-day visit to greece. sanders said the meeting was a real honor. >> i think he will go down in history as one of the great leaders of this moment in world history. >> sanders said the invitation to come to the vatican for a conference on economic inequality and climate change was an opportunity he could not pass up. hillary clinton plans to hold a fund-raiser tonight at george clooney's los angeles mansion. this was the scene last night as bernie sanders supporters protested a clinton fund-raiser with the clooneys in san

francisco. they're angry over the pricey donations being paid for the event. some donors shelled out over $300,000 to get in. the next big race for the democrats and republicans is this coming tuesday. they will face off on the new york primary. a week later on april 26th, pennsylvania and delaware hold their primary selections. new jersey voters go to the polls on june 7th. you can stay on top of the latest information from the presidential campaign trail with the napp. check out the 2016 coverage. the clear and sun spring day. in philadelphia, weather was ideal for the blackhawks youth football event. as we take a live look at cape may where it's looking picturesque this evening. a little cooler along the coast, though. it's hard to believe it was exactly a week ago that parts of our area were seeing snow,

because i am not a career politician. residents hit the streets in north philadelphia for a march against violence. thousands gathered at progress plaza then made their way to city hall. the show you care march was meant to promote peace and call on neighbors to take pride in their communities by keeping

their streets clean. organizers say statistics show when people keep the blocks clean, the level of crime drops dramatically. from the delaware bureau, a rehoboth beach woman is in trouble for allegedly slapping a police officer. police say noni cottingham used both hands to slap the officer on the chest on rehoboth avenue around 3:00 this morning. the officer was trying to calm her down after she argued with her mother. they were trying to get cottingham home safely after a night of drinking. tonight she faces a number of charges including resisting arrest. turning now the flyers quest for the cup in less than an hour. they'll take on the capitals for the stanley cup playoffs. let's go to drew, they're hoping for redemption tonight?

>> reporter: yeah, fans homing that the flyers can return home with that 1-1. the official watch party. we've seen the red starting to move out. the phillies fans are moving across the street. but tonight this is the place to be to watch the flyers. a lot of orange and black starting to fill up the space here. they're handing out towels and signs. people really getting excited for the game. people are pumped. we saw them watching the early game on nbc10, pittsburgh versus new york. fans were a little disappointed in the thursday night flyers appearance. they're hoping for a different outcome. fans tell me it's a privilege to at least one one philly team in the playoffs. >> it's an honor, honestly. it gives the city a lot of hope. let's do what they do. >> this is a must win. i think they get it done, dvoracek is going to step up and get out of that slump he's been

on. >> reporter: we'll see if the expectations of fans are meant today. game time about 35 minutes. from now. people excited to watch a little playoff action here in philadelphia. knic nbc10 news. the campus of st. christopher's house for children has a new look. it celebrated the modern critical care tower. the new 35,000-square foot tower will house a new neonatal unit and will feature an expanded dental unit. a larger gym for physical and occupational therapy and a chapel. well, the dancing is done in delaware county. springfield high school wrapped up its 14th annual steven stefani dance school.

students danced to raise money for cancer awareness. >> announcer: now your nbc10 "first alert" weather. >> well, it's definitely a nice day out there for a track meet. nbc10's very own tim furlong stepped into the track meet in glen mills, delaware county today. you can see, perfect weather out there. plenty of sunshine. certainly no rain anywhere nearby. temperatures running above normal. the sunshine looking like it's going to continue. in fact it will get a little warmer. something that does happen when the weather tends to get warmer and also stay dry, the pollen levels are remaining high all weekend. that's going to be the case for tomorrow and the next couple of days. something to keep an eye out for. temperatures have been quite different, depending on where you live. 67 right now in philadelphia. but upper 50s there towards the shore. let's take a closer look at your neighborhood. this is what we've been talking about.

taking a much closer look. cape may county. 54 degrees towards the courthouse. a big difference right there. a little bit farther inland. let's jump north and west towards the lehigh valley. 67 in mckungee. and in those areas that i just mentioned, we will once again see the cooler temperatures overnight. the temperatures are once again going to drop pretty quickly as we head into the overnight hours. we'll once again have a frost advisory in effect for lehigh valley, mercer county, bucks county. that's also in effect for really much of southern new jersey. again, just south and east of the city is where we once again can see those chilly temperatures that can produce patchy frost during the overnight hours. we did have a red flag warning in effect through 8:00. of course, it's been quite dry out there. it's been on the breezy side and warmer. any fire that develops can

defense fi. surface fire at 8:00, fortunately, the winds have been been too bad. gusts up around 17 miles in little rock harbor. and not terribly windy out there. the winds that we do have will actually be subsiding through the remainder of tonight. big ridge of high pressure will be remaining for tomorrow. slightly warmer temperatures. and it doesn't look like sunday is the warmest day of the extended outlook. let's take a look at sunday. we're going to 73 degrees towards the suburbs. 72, 72 for newtown as well. lehigh valley, 75. 74 towards east, as we wrap up the weekend on sunday, noticeably cooler for the shore neighborhood. 71 in glassboro, 62 for atlantic cities. about 65 degrees. plenty of sunshine for everyone. so, it's been a nice couple of days. it looks like the nice weather is set to continue not only with sunshine but the warmer weather
