. right now on nbc 10 news at 11:00, a 4-year-old girl is dead after another child got ahold avenue gun inside of a philadelphia home. we'll break down the new information just coming in from police. but we begin with breaking news in camden county, firefighters on the scene of a major fire at an apartment complex that has torn through multiple units. good evening. i'm ted greenberg. the fire broke out before 9:00 at the mansion apartments on west branch in pine hill. that is where nbc 10's drew smith is live from the scene. drew what, are you finding out?

>> reporter: ted, good evening. we are hearing from firefighters about any possible injuries. but they've been so busy with this they haven't gotten the chance to cross the fire line to come and talk to us. they are still putting water on one of the units on the end of the mansion apartments. there are four units that are destroyed out here. several other damages. and there are multiple departments out here working on this. it was around 9:00 when they came out here. the fire spread quickly and went up to three alarms at one point. and firefighters ran into several issues according to the firefighters and witnesses on scene. they were telling us there was water pressure problems which made this a tough fight out here. there were also -- the main priority was making sure everybody in the building was safe. we heard from witnesses that there were several rescues, getting some of the people out of this building. i want to play some video of some of the witnesses who were out here describing what happened, including the girlfriend of one of the

firefighters who was inside of this building fighting this. >> what is your reaction when you see something like this? >> i guess scared. and i get a shaking feeling and nervous. >> from where we were standing, you could really feel the heat. it was really building up. >> i saw the fire going up into the sky and the apartment complex was completely engulfed in flames. and it was -- you could feel the heat from back from the house behind us. the heat was just intense. >> reporter: and firefighters now ripping through some of the debris out here making sure there is no flames on the other side of that building and there is still parts of this building that are sparking up right now. the flames were huge at one point. right now finally they do have it under control. we are waiting to hear from officials about any possible injuries that may have been involved with this fire. one more note i want to tell you about, last year there was

another fire at this very apartment complex, it was late last year. and that was also an in tense fire here. so a lot of residents are going through the night without a place to stay and this fire operation and this clean-up and fight is going on tonight. in pine hill, i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, to our other breaking story out of the philadelphia kensington section. a man is in custody after a four-year-old girl was shot and killed inside of a home. and just within the past 90 minutes we have learned police think say five-year-old sibling fired the deadly shot. nbc 10 joins us live from police headquarters and tell us more about the new information that we've just gotten about a person taken into custody? >> reporter: that is right, ted. according to police, the mother's boyfriend owned the gun and he fled the scene. but we just learned from sources that he turned himself into police and currently being

interviewed by homicide detectives. anguish gripped this community as word spread that a four-year-old girl was shot and killed. now place say a five-year-old sibling pulled the trigger by using my mother's boyfriend's gun. authorities found the four-year-old at her home in the 200 block of east mayfield street with a gunshot wound to her face before 2:30 afternoon. she was pronounced dead minutes later. >> i feel bad for her. >> reporter: a gun was recovered at the home. police say the boyfriend who it belonged to fled the scene. neighbors say up to six children lived here. it is still unclear how many were home at the time of the shooting. >> [ inaudible ]. she was always willing to help. she was a great baby sister to her little brother. >> reporter: now we have also -- we also believe that the family is also here speaking to homicide detectives. we were told that children's services will be involved as

part of protocol, especially since other children are in the home. that is the latest here from police headquarters. nbc 10 news. now to decision 2016 and tonight we mark a milestone. just 100 days left until tens of thousands of people come to philadelphia from the democratic national convention. the dnc is expected to be a major economic boost to the city this summer. hundreds helped kick off the countdown to the convention at the national constitution center today. 50,000 guests and 6,000 delegates are expected to descend on philadelphia hitting local bars and restaurants fuelling a $300 million injection into the economy. but there are also no doubt protests. police say they are ready. >> bottom line, though, is our officers are well-trained. you see we get a plethora of demonstrations about a number of things. >> you could expect to see a lot of hillary clinton and senator bernie sanders back in our area

after new york's primary this coming tuesday. clinton already has a philadelphia event scheduled for wednesday. actor george clooney is fundraising for hillary clinton but he's agreeing with her opponent on money in politics. we'll hear from him when our decision 2016 coverage continues in just about ten minutes. returning now to the weather, a calm night out there as we take a live look at boathouse row in philadelphia. it will be getting even warmer tomorrow with 70s in most spots. now for a breakdown of the big warm-up on the way where you live, it is t's time for the nbc ten first alert neighborhood forecast and for that we go to our meteorologist. >> we now have your neighborhood weather forecast. this is going to let us take a closer look at what is going on. not only county to county but within individual cities. and now that ticker on the bottom has the forecast for

philadelphia and lehigh valley and pennsylvania suburbs and we think that is something you will enjoy. and we do have chilly temperatures into the tonight and into the morning hours. frost advisory into mercer bucks and montgomery county extending into southern new jersey and through through 8:00 in the morning. we could see temperatures reach the mid to low 30s and causing patchy frost and if you are heading out for a run in the morning, make sure you are warm because it is chilly. 50 in philadelphia and 43 many south jersey. and 48 degrees in ocean city. courthouse about 46. 42 toward may's landing. 47 toward atlantic city. a big difference from the shore to further inland. coming up we look at how warm it will be heading into sunday afternoon and when we have the

best shot of reaching 80 degrees. >> we'll see you then. now to a developing story in south america. a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook ecuador central coast. the vice president said 28 people are dead according to preliminary information. that quake hit around 7:00 local time in the coastal town of muisne. this video posted online shows damage to a shopping mall about 120 miles from the center of the quake. pope francis stepped into the heart of the refugee crisis. his move is bringing hope to thousands of migrants trying to escape fighting in syria. >> the fliers hope to pull one out before the series moves and in d.c. we'll give you the action from game two of the best of seven in just a minute.

wyoming republican delegates up for grabs at the convention today but trump leads the overall race. hillary clinton is holding a fundraiser tonight at actor george clooney's mansion in los angeles. last night demonstrators protested a fundraising dinner hosted by clinton and clooney in san francisco. they voiced anger over the $30,000 a seat price tag to attend the event. some donors actually shelled out $300,000 to get in. but in an interview scheduled to air tomorrow morning on "meet the press," clooney agrees that kind of money should not be a part of the political process. >> and they're right to protest. they are absolutely right. it is an obscene amount of money. the sanders' campaign, when they talk about it. it is right. it is ridiculous. that we have money in politics, i agree. >> catch the rest of what he had to say about the clinton campaign on "meet the press" at

10:30 tomorrow here. and then catch nbc 10 at issue. we interview the two for stop law enforcer top morning here on nbc 10. a big effort tonight to make dreams come true for people with intellectual disabilities. more than 500 community leaders and family came out for the dream maker ball at the hyatt at the bellevue in center city. the organization also marked a milestone, 50 years of supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism. certainly a beautiful day to enjoy some fun in the sun. nbc 10 along the bridge trail today where we found people sweating it out in a free fitness class. it is just one of more than a dozen events happening across the city to celebrate opening weekend for philadelphia's circuit trail network. and now we're going to check in with nirs alert meteorologist

violeta and temperatures going up. >> and the temperatures tomorrow, not the warmest day of the extended outlook which by the way will be scrolling at the bottom of your screen sow don't have to wait until the end of the weather segment. into tonight and tomorrow, on the chilly side once again for our suburbs to the north and west. here are areas that could see temperatures into the mid to low 30s. so locally chilly north and west of the city and also just south of the city here across a good scope of south jersey. so that is something to keep in mind if you are out late night or early morning, it is still chilly out there. but as promised, tomorrow is warmer and we'll actually see a good deal of sunshine as well. the dry and warm weather actually set to tip. now pollen levels have already been running high through much of this week. and unfortunately that is not changing in the next couple of days. it looks like levels are going to remain high into your saturday and sunday but even into the start of this upcoming

week as well. so that is definitely something to keep in mind if you have plans outdoors and enjoy the beautiful sunny weather the next several days. dry and warm and more sunshine. high pressure is going to stay in control so that will bring us dry and quiet weather for the long-term. for right now, we're at about 47 in blandon. 52 in macungie. 49 toward mertsdown and that could be chilly tonight. in philadelphia, 53 toward graduate hospital. 51 in pence forth and 52 in society hill and low 50s toward west mt.ary. and across philadelphia in the 40s for tonight but north and west of the city and south and east more chilly. that is the pattern the last several nights, cool and comfortable during the afternoon. what will happen the next couple of days, this ridge of high pressure will continue to bring us very nice weather and warmer air into the area so temperatures on the upswing.

we'll in the a warm up into tomorrow and lower 70s in philadelphia with plenty of sunshine. lower 70s toward chadds ford. allentown, 70 degrees into the second part of the weekend. cooler temperatures toward the show points. 61 into sunday. and plenty of sunshine but something to keep in mind if you are toward the shore. it is not as warm as what we are expecting along the i-95 and the other areas. very nice tor tomorrow and warmer into monday. you could see reaching the 80 degrees mark in philadelphia toward the shore. we'll also get a warm up but not as warm. upper 60s into monday here. 73 as we head into tomorrow, westchester 73 as well toward lehigh valley, 75 degrees and toward south jersey and temperatures comparable and sunshine, it is toward the show that we notice the cooler temperatures. so a beautiful couple of days in store but keep in mind if you are south and east of the city, won't be quite as warm for some of you. this is sports desk, brought
