. we're learning new information about the shooting death of a young girl in kensington. nbc 10 confirmed it was her father or step-father who shot the child. thanks for joining us, i'm deny he's nakano. we brought you the story yesterday at 6:00 p.m. the police originally believed the 4-year-old was shot by her sibling, but now they say the father or step-father confessed to shooting the girl accidentally. we've been following the story since it broke. any charges been filed? >> well denise, despite police sources saying there was a confession at this hour, no charges is been filed. police tell us they are still working that out. let's give you a look at the

scene right now. there's continues to be a growing makeshift memorial outside the home in kensington. according to police sources, the father or step-father said he was playing with a handgun when it accidentally discharged, striking the 4-year-old girl. they say as many as 7 childreny home at the time. when police responded to the home yesterday afternoon, they found the child with a gunshot wound to her face, she was pronounced dead a short time later. authorities recovered a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun at the scene. the father or step-father initially fled and turned himself later into police. the 4-year-old girl is being remembered as a little girl who loved barbies and coloring books, we're told that dhs is involved in this matter as part of standard procedure, since there are other children in the home. that's the latest here at police headquarters, i'm andrea

use. a violent night across the city of philadelphia. three people are dead. six people hospitalized, after shootings at five locations. this was the scene at one of those crimes earlier today in kensington. investigators say a gunman barricaded himself inside a home on east westmoreland street. the gunman surrendered to police, when officers found two men and one woman shot to death inside. another person who was shot in the arm and got away is expected to be okay. we're learning that two of the victims are related to the shooter. and the violence was not limited to philadelphia. a robbery suspect was shot and killed after exchanging gunfire with police in cumberland county. authorities say around 1:00 a.m. officers were chasing two men who they believed had robbed a person at 7th and cherry streets, during that pursuit, police say one of the men shot at an officer who then returned fire. the officer was not hurt. the other alleged robber got away.
