very low humidity combined with the gusty winds and the dry ground. fires can spread quickly. that's why we have to take extra caution here. the wind is blowing strong out the northwest, 15-20 miles per hour. it's been doing that all afternoon, and in the neighborhoods in south jersey, one of the areas that does tend to have fire dangers, we do have some low humidities, 29% at piney hollow, and 22% in bridgeton, that spreads fires fast. princeton at 27%. now as we go through the night tonight, the wind diminishes somewhat and temperatures go down. down into the 40s by daybreak in some places into the lower 40s. there's the lehigh valley and the rest of the area as you can see. the temperatures dropping

face a job accuse of shooting an officer sunday night who interrupted a carjacking that he carried out with another man. we learned from court documents that griffin has 14 prior arrests and less than a week ago, he was sitting in jail and let go after a judge cited a lack of evidence because several witnesses did not show up to testify. >> a judge postponed a hearing for the man accused of ambushing two pennsylvania state troopers prompting a massive man hunt. he's charged with opening fire in 2014 killing one trooper and seriously wounding another. today, frein's lawyer argued his video recorded statement to the police arguing his arrest should be thrown out. the judge asked reporters to leave the courtroom to watch the video. the reporters objected, and the judge postponed the hearing. a friend from the poconos on leave saying he was so drunk they used a stun gun to subdue him.

evans threatened obscenities at him after he was found vomiting in the yard. police used a stun gun on evans when he resisted arrest. the superintendent said he was on unpaid leave. we reached out to evans for response but have not heard back from him. new information on a crash killing a crossing guard in trenton. police arrested dwyane bennett driving a sus pended license when he hit and killed the crossing guard. skyforce10 over the scene. the victim was identified as a 56-year-old crossing route 129 when he was hit. early morning fire at a closed plant, is considered suspicious, nbc 10 at 3:00 this morning for the fire at the five star chicken processing plant. one firefighter had a minor issue but now is fine. the quest for the cup.

call a relative for help while trapped-under-p eped under the the building. 413 people were killed. at least nine of them foreigners. more than 1,000 people stranded in flooded apartment complexes in houston got help today. flood waters continue to rise after more than 20 inches of rain fell in the area over the last several days. >> it's about to my knees in the apartment right now, and last thing i saw was a snake swimming through the apartment so i'm blessed to have all of you helping me. >> reporter: forecasters say there's a 50% chance more rain will fall in the area today. a flash flood warning will extend through tomorrow. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glen "hurricane" schwartz. their weather and our weather is related. we're stuck in the fair weather warm part of the system. they're stuck in the wet part and nothing's been moving so we keep getting sunny day after

sunny day and they get rain after rain after rain. well, we started off warm today, but the northwest winds came in to cool things down. 60s north and west, 74 in south jersey. these are the winds, northwest wind meeting a sea breeze, you see where it is with the detail that we now have with all of these temperatures, you can see, look at this, atlantic city, 60 with the wind off the ocean, may's landing, not that far away, 78 degrees. that's almost a 20 degree temperature difference. it did get warm right at the beaches today before that sea breeze moved in. and as we go through the night tonight in philadelphia, temperatures drop into the 40s. you need some kind of coat tomorrow morning. reading dropping perhaps to the upper 30s. wilmington in the 40s. trenton dropping into the mid-40s by morning as well.

so it is going to be not warm and dry. it will be mild and dry as we go through the day tomorrow. it has been warm, 82 monday, 78 today, and 70 degrees tomorrow. that's still above average, and that may end up being the coolest day of the week. the pollen is still an issue and still a not pleasant issue for allergy sufferers that continues to be high wednesday and thursday and drops friday because of the showers and goes right back up on saturday. not exactly great news for those folks. now, we have dry conditions here. we have some high clouds that have moved through, but back to the west, clouds a little bit thicker and more showers, still a long way away. that's st. louis, so it's going to take a while for that moisture to come in here as we go through tomorrow, lots of sunshine, sunny all day. there's tomorrow night. thursday, then, the clouds start

right now at 4:30, a philadelphia mother makes a public plea for help after a hit-and-run driver killed her son over the weekend and died yesterday. >> nbc 10's monique braxton spoke to the mother today, live at the scene of the crash in west philadelphia. monique? >> reporter: hi, the parents came here to the scene to see where their son was hit. they are also hoping to find the witness who saw the fatal accident. >> wonderful son. >> reporter: the grief strick p parents of the 27-year-old talk about their son, a 2011 mechanical engineering grad who was hit by a car early saturday while riding his bike. he pass away monday morning after suffering severe head trauma. >> jamal loves life, church, sports, he was a sunday schoolteacher, played football with the kids.

refused to answer questions 98 times citing marital or attorney-client privilege. cosby faces charges in montgomery county accused of drugging and molesting a former temple university employee in 2004. he's denied the allegations. police say a man dressed in swat gear murdered a yoga instructor in a texas church. rain forced her to move the camp inside monday morning, and when people showed up, they found her body. the man in the video broke into the church and believe she may have sbuminterrupted a burglary. a high profile ban is boycotting north carolina's decision concert pearl jam announced on twitter, cancelling the concert for tomorrow in raleigh. that bill stripped many discrimination protections from the state's lgbt community. pearl jam wrote a letter that said, quote, the law that was recently passed is a dispickble
