say about gun violence in philadelphia. >> they say she's not a good campaigner. she says she's not a good campaigner. so i'm really curious to see how she works the crowd. >> reporter: clinton is pulling ahead of bernie sanders, her opponent. in pennsylvania right now, and pennsylvania is the state that has the most delegates up for grabs of all the contests that vote next tuesday. we'll be here covering clinton as she speaks at this event. we're live in the fillmore in fishtown, drew smith, nbc 10 news. clinton isn't done with pennsylvania. >> yeah, she has three more stops across the state friday. bernie sanders is taking the day off from the campaign trail after his loss in new york. but tomorrow he'll make campaign stops in scranton and reading. the sanders camp says next week is a big one and they'll re-examine the campaign based on how sanders does here in the keystone state, also down in first state, that's delaware and other states holding primaries on tuesday.

but most people think he'll stay in the race no matter what happens. sanders still has some work to do as well if he wants to win in pennsylvania. today's new poll from monmouth university shows clinton with a 13-point lead. all three republican candidates are also campaigning in pennsylvania this week. the latest monmouth poll has donald trump leading by 16 points over ted cruz, with john kasich in a close third. ted cruz held a rally at an antique car museum in hershey today where he mocked donald trump's win in his home state of new york. then he told the crowd that trump and the media want to convince them that pennsylvania is a suburb of manhattan. >> oh, that's their telling, manhattan has spoken and pennsylvania will quietly follow into obedience. you know what? i've got a lot more faith in the people of pennsylvania. >> the senator's wife heidi cruz was also in our area today.

nbc 10 at freedom park in medford, burlington county, where she held a meet and greet with voters early this afternoon. mrs. cruz also campaigned in north jersey. she was set to visit the state back in march but had to reschedule. after his huge victory in$@ new york, donald trump will campaign in pennsylvania and delaware over the next two days. he'll be in harrisburg tomorrow and harrington, delaware on friday. john kasich is headed to the philadelphia suburbs. he has campaign events in media and king of prussia tomorrow. nbc 10 will have full coverage as we get closer to tuesday's primary. you can follow the candidates here and on the nbc 10 app. right now at 5:00, the eagles make a bold move just days before the draft. >> they'll now get the second overall pick, but they had to give up a lot more to get this deal. randy gyllenhaal has been asking fans what they think of this. i'm sure you've heard a lot of

prendergast high school. school administrators told nbc 10 ta they got a tip that a student brought a gun and drugs to school. there was a lockdown while police searched the school and found bullets and marijuana as well. no word on any arrests. the lockdown was lifted after the gun was discovered. repairs to the delaware memorial bridge were causing a traffic mess out there. the span from new jersey over to delaware has been reduced to one lane to cut down the weight on the bridge. work is being done to three suspension cables that need to be repaired immediately. nbc 10's tim furlong is live with the latest on the repairs and how long drivers will have to put up with the mess. a woman accused in a deadly hit and run in bensalem last year was officially charged in court today. jennifer coyle made no comment as she walked into the courthouse. prosecutors say she hit and killed andrew miller who was walking along state road on october 28th. she turned herself in the next day telling police that she thought she hit a deer.

today the trial began for the man accused of killing his girlfriend at a millersville university. jury selection got under way at the lancaster county courthouse today for the trial of gregorio orrostieta. he's accused of murdering his girlfriend karlie hall in her dorm room last year. hall was a student at millersville. orrostieta, prosecutors say he beat and strangled her last february. reports show he called 911 and was giving hall cpr when medics arrived. but prosecutors say hall had been dead for hours. switching gears. listen to this. a computer glitch forced school districts across new jersey to cancel standardized testing today. students in at least nine districts were supposed to take the parc testing. for some reason when students logged up, it just didn't work. the exam tests students between third and 11th grades.

now to the latest on the water crisis in flint, michigan. today the state attorney general announced felony charges for three people in connection with the lead contamination of the city's water supply. two state environmental officials and the man who ran the flint water treatment plant

now face criminal charges which include misconduct, neglect of duty and tampering with evidence. >> they had a duty to protect the health of families and citizens of flint. they failed. >> arraignment dates have not been set for any of the three men. meanwhile, a group of senate democrats introduced a bill aimed at funding a lead relief program. the proposed bill would provide $70 billion over the next ten years for water infrastructure. pennsylvania senator bob casey was among those backing the measure. a growing number of cases of meat and dairy allergies in the u.s. >> now doctors believe they could be the result of a tiny tick bite. tonight nbc "nightly news" will bring you the story of a woman who can no longer eat beef, pork, lamb or dairy products. it all started after she was bitten by a lone star tick. doctors say she developed something called alpha gow

tomorrow. he has events planned in reading and scranton. clinton there in our live picture from north philadelphia also with former u.s. attorney general eric holder. the republican candidates will also descend on pennsylvania this week. >> here is jim schultz. most polls show trump with a pretty big lead in pennsylvania. do you think the other candidates can make it a real race? >> he has a pretty big lead in pennsylvania. i don't think the other candidates will make it a big race. last night both candidates had a monster evening. big wins. clinton and trump. trump comes into pennsylvania a friendly state and the other northeastern states with tremendous momentum. clinton comes into pennsylvania, friendly state with big momentum and a lot more delegates. i don't think there's any chance you're going to see folks dropping out of the race on either side. i think sanders is going to be there to continue to sustain his quest to have socialism at the seat at the table in the democrat party.

and you'll see ted cruz and john kasich trying to steal the nomination at the convention, but the chances of getting the delegates -- the delegate math is impossible for those two. trump is clearly the front-runner. >> what will this race look like after next tuesday? do you see anyone dropping out? >> i don't see anyone dropping out of this race. like i said, i take cruz and kasich are in it. they're trying to demand that one another drop out of race, but the truth be told, neither of them can mathematically get to the number of delegates. but the only way they can do it is steal it away. >> looking ahead here, pennsylvania known as a swing state. the general election, do you see republicans or democrats having the advantage? >> pennsylvania is a swing state, but it's really been a swing state for everything but the presidency since 1998. republicans, the last time republicans won at the top of the ticket for president was 1988, and they haven't won since. there's a million more voter

this is nbc 10 news. right now at 5:00, a philadelphia nun faces her punishment. today in court a judge found her guilty of driving drunk. nbc 10 was the first to show you this dash cam video of that nun's field sobriety test. >> the nun trying to blame what happened on prescription sleeping pills, but the judge said he did not buy it. nbc 10's south jersey bureau reporter cydney long has more from the courtroom. >> reporter: guilty of driving drunk. this dash cam video of sister kimberly miller's november 7th dui arrest was key for the judge. today he dismissed the defense argument that sister miller took ambien for chronic arthritis after drinking wine at a book signing and as a result was asleep behind the wheel. instead he said her conduct, strong odor of alcohol and cops

who testified she was drunk proved the case. >> she's obviously very upset. she's in tears. she's crying. and she's upset because she knows what happened that night, and you know, i think the conviction doesn't bother her as much as the judge not believing her. >> i had her as a teacher myself. i thought she was amazing. everyone loved her. wanted to have her as a teacher. >> reporter: word traveled quickly to philly's little flower catholic high school where students are praying sister kim can put this ordeal in the rearview mirror. >> i hope she can come back. everybody here will welcome her. >> reporter: miller got in the passenger seat after paying $650 in fines, a 90-day license suspension begins now. attorney jeff lindy has 20 days but doesn't think they'll appeal. he has to handle what they call a catch 22. >> sister kim in new jersey doesn't have a criminal record

i thought today how bad could it be driving over there. so i did it. it was so bad i decided to go up to a different bridge just to avoid the gridlock coming back. right now the delaware memorial bridge is not a great way to get from new jersey to delaware. >> is there an accident? >> reporter: most drivers stuck in the backup didn't know why it was backed up. but it sure was bad. >> i've never seen something like that. i would call it a parking lot. >> reporter: those who weren't at the full stop were crawling. >> maybe a mile and a half in an hour. >> reporter: her hopefully future employer was cool about it. no, they knew it already. i sat in traffic already for an hour after the toll bridge. and i'm going home. i'm going to have to reschedule. >> reporter: inspectors working on one damaged vertical suspension cable found problems with two other cables. that meant they immediately had to reduce the weight on the bridge by closing all but one lane. >> hardly unfortunate part about

perry. nowhere near the problems. i'm glad i didn't try to come back over this bridge right here. happily on the smooth sailing side of the bridge, tim furlong, nbc 10 news. the brandywine school district in chester county has another referendum on the books. they want residents to know about. that measure would increase taxes. if it doesn't pass, the school district faces $8 million in cuts. 3 million of those cuts would include teachers, counselors and librarians. some after-school programs would also have to go. the district is holding four meetings to help residents understand that measure. the first is being held tomorrow night. some local high school seniors just got a big boost to help whip their future careers into shape hot out of the oven, scholarships worth between 100,

temple university hospital and the gift of life donor program want to spread the word about life saving organ donations. nbc 10 in north philadelphia where they help tell the stories of people who have been saved through organ donations. it is all part of national donate life month. today's event ended with a flag raising ceremony to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. the united network for organ sharing tells us one donor can save as many as eight lives. we did some research and found out right now there are 12,000 people in new jersey, pennsylvania and delaware waiting for an organ donation. if you want to register to donate your organs, there are two ways to do it. first, you can sign up at the dmv through your driver's license or i.d. card. or you can sign up online. it doesn't cost a thing. and there is no age limit. if you're interested in organ donation, we put a link to the organ donation website in your state on nbc10.com and the nbc 10 news app.

two months after she was hit by a bullet in a shooting rampage a michigan teenager returned home today. 14-year-old abigail cox survived a gunshot to the head when alleged gunman jason dalton went on a shooting spree in ckalama o kalamazoo. doctors thought she might be brain dead but her improvement from squeezing her mother's hand to taking her first step has left her supporters in awe. she's been undergoing intense therapy. >> she wants to be as normal as possible, she says. i have to do what i'm told to get there. >> what is the most exciting thing you're the most excited for? >> to see my friends. >> it's been a while, hasn't it? >> yeah. >> dalton is awaiting trial charged with six counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. house democrats say a moment of silence is simply not enough

to curb gun violence in america. today they have introduced a new measure that would require congress to hold hearings every time there's a moment of silence for a gun-related tragedy rather than going back to business as usual. >> this is not about taking away citizens' second amendment rights to bear arms. by changing the rules, we are setting a new standard for congress to act. >> we can't just tweet our condolences or stand on the house floor in a moment of silence and think that's the end of it. >> the rule change is expected to face an uphill battle in the republican-controlled house. closer to home at least seven people are confirmed dead after flooding in houston, texas. look at this video. at least five of those deaths involve drivers drowning in their cars. these surveillance video show the cars driving into flooded streets. houston has been paralyzed by heavy rains and flash floods over the last few days. one of the most colorful

philadelphia and our suburbs through pennsylvania mostly in the mid-60s. as we go over the next 12 hours, philadelphia by 10:00 p.m. dropping to 53 degrees and by early tomorrow morning and if you're in trenton, temperatures will be in the low 40s. wilmington about the mid-40s by the time you wake up and walk outside. so another really nice start to the day. and it's going to feel nice as we go through the afternoon. a little bit warmer than today. here's a look at your neighborhood weather. let's take a look at the pennsylvania sburns right now. as we zoom into chester county, temperatures mostly upper 60s here. west bradford township coming in a 66. 70 degrees in north wales. elroy coming in at 68 degrees. doyles town, 69. new hope at 68. so really comfortable day today. but we do actually have some rain on the way. we've been dry for quite a while

now. we finally have some rain. it's all in the middle of the country. as we zoom in here, you see the showers and thunderstorm. this is allnówk coming our direction. friday is the day we're expecting rain in the area. so the weather story finally some rain relief coming. it will start to drop the pollen levels a little bit. but if you have allergies, you are still going to notice it. as we go to thursday, there you see the rain getting closer. we'll see clouds getting closer, too. clouds increasing as we go through the day on thursday. this is thursday 9:00 p.m. then more clouds moving in and the rain getting into parts of western p.a., but it won't be here till friday. friday around lunchtime, that's the time we can see maybe some thunderstorms north and west of philadelphia. i don't think it will be a huge thunderstorm outbreak, but we'll have rain with the potential for some storms, 5:00 p.m., that's a better chance of thunderstorms. maybe even moving through the philadelphia area. then by 11:00, we should see a lot of it slide into new jersey and delaware. so at least we have some rain

coming because we do need the rain. there you see it friday, the next five days in philadelphia, tomorrow, 75 degrees, mostly sunny. friday 80 degrees. warm with some thunderstorms. saturday in philadelphia we'll be clearing out of the rain around 70. sunday looks good around 70, but if you're in south jersey, along the shore or in delaware, the rain from friday looks to be lingering into your saturday. temperatures upper 60s. a little bit cooler. but we go to sunday and we're clearing out nicely. beautiful evening shot for the area. here is a look at boathouse row. so you look at the water there on the schuylkill river. it's not moving much. looks like glass. we have the light winds out there. beautiful skies. that's why the pollen levels are so high. once the rain gets here, it will help to lower them a little bit. but it will still be high. over the weekend, those levels will still shoot back up. >> the phillie phanatic.

"represents the next generation of progressive leadership". democrat josh shapiro an attorney general...for us a big move for the philadelphia eagles that could mold the future of the franchise. the eagles moved up. they're now the second overall pick in next week's draft, but they had to give away several picks to do it. the team has its sights set on a quarterback to lead them into the future. >> john clark joins us from the wells fargo center. there's a big game there tonight, but the eagles making big news today as well. >> yeah, the eagles have stolen the front page news here moving up to number two and they are going to get a quarterback. basically they want to find a franchise quarterback like they had with donovan mcnabb. that's the last time they drafted a quarterback in first round. he went number two in 1999. take a look at the quarterbacks that the eagles will get. it will either be jared goff or, of course, carson wentz.
