♪ this is what is sounds like when doves cry ♪ "when doves cry" by prince, one of the best known songs, remembered as the most innovative musicians of his time. he died today at the age of 57. prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at his home here this morning in minnesota. there are no details yet on just how he died, but sheriffs official just said it's too early to say whether foul play is involved, though they say it's neither suspected or not suspected at this point. more on prince rogers nelson, he soared into the scene in the late '70s, and we are live in delaware where tributes are pouring in, andrea? >> reporter: on social media, to radio stations playing prince's, all of his hits, and fans are remembering him not just for his music, but for what he stood for.

6:30. meantime at home, heart ache a high school in delaware. a 16-year-old student dead. police say she died after a bathroom brawl and tonight there's speculation the fight was over a boy. >> over a boy, i mean, that's messed up. >> that fight happened at 8:00 this morning in howard technology school in will mton, and as police search for answers, sadness throughout the community there. we are live in wilmington, and deanna, are police questioning anyone at this point? >> reporter: at this point, they are. school officials say the girl died after getting serious injuries in a fight, however, police have not said what the injuries are or how they believed the 16-year-old died. police tell us they have been talking to witnesses since 9:00 this morning and expect conversations to last several more hours. >> it's very sad because it's where we got too much shooting and stuff going around.

>> reporter: students in lock down before classes began, the fight in the girls' bathroom inside howard high school for technology this morning. >> i do believe suspects are in custody, but it's a shame for them too. a lot of families destroyed today. >> reporter: what police have not yet said is how think the 16-year-old sophomore died or what injuries she sustained. we know she was flown to the hospital by state police and police say at that point medics were performing cpr. >> just hurt when you know her personally, and, like, she was not one of my students, like, out there in the streets. that was not her. >> reporter: he worked with the girl in youth outreach programs saying she was to volunteer this summer. after the lockdownfuls lifted, classes were cancelled. some were aware what was going on and say the fight was over a boy. >> i'm really sad because this is a good school, like, i go here, and people are really not that bad here. for something like that to happen is crazy. >> reporter: now, the mayor of

wilmington says it was anlated incident, the schools are safe, and majority of kids don't go to school to fight, but we looked into records, and there's 14 reports of fighting within the last school year. police here have been interviewing witnesses saying they can't yet say what, if any, charges will be file in this case. reporting live in wilmington, nbc 10 news. it was out ed snider today held to remember the late flyers' founding owner. his anthem singer and lauren hart opened the ceremony with god bless america and speaker after speaker spoke about the contributions of snider on and off the ice. snider's son by his dad's side until the end said these were his father's final words. >> can't thank the flyers enough for everything they've given to
