decades ago, weeks ago, months ago, and you don't know nair names, that's a problem. >> join us for nbc 10 at issue tonight at 7:00 right here on nbc 10. now to breaking news in philadelphia. a woman was abducted and sexually assaulted early this morning, but within the past few hours, she managed to escape and get help from police. >> we're live in west philadelphia where the victim somehow freed herself. brandon, what have you learned? >> reporter: denise, about 30 minutes ago, investigators left this area. we're told this area right here is where police say that the woman was dropped off and walked around the block for help. philadelphia police say less than 12 hours ago she was kidnapped and raped. detectives collected evidence in front of an abandoned house on 57th street and larchwood avenue. police tell us that at 4:00 this morning, a man held a 20-year-old woman at begun point in lancaster avenue.

he pushed her in a car, later duct taped and physically and sexually assaulted her. people who live on this street heard and saw her. >> i heard a lot of screaming and you know, she was like get off me, get off me. when i came downstairs, he was already out the car and she was arms had blood on it. she must have been bleeding from her face. >> it makes you want to keep your loved ones closer. anything like that could happen to anybody. when it's so close to your home, it's like, wow. >> reporter: police say the man is about 23 years old. they don't have much of a physical description of him at this time. they do say he drove a black four-door car with a garbage bag in one of the windows. we'll check with police and have an update for you later on tonight. reporting live in west philly, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. new at 6:00, volunteers doing cleanup at cooper river made a disturbing discovery.

they pulled up a human skull. they made that discovery at gateway park in the ad mirl wilson boulevard in pen sock en. more than 100 volunteers took part when they called police to the scene. police and the coroner are looking to identify the remains, which also included bones. police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a 25-year-old man at an apartment complex in southwest philadelphia. officers found the victim lying in the courtyard of the complex on the 8400 block of lindbergh boulevard last night. medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. the fiance of the victim said after they parked in the lot, an unknown man was seen walking behind their vehicle. her fiance got out of the car to throw out trash and that's when the gunman started firing at him. turning now to our weather,

an ohio businessman has put up a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the slayings of eight family members. authorities worked throughout the night processing evidence from four crime scenes where the members of the family were found yesterday in rural southern ohio. one of the victims was just 16

$300,000 for leukemia and lymphoma society. well, we had that rain move through last night and early this morning. that has pushed offshore and looking at quiet conditions for the remainder of tonight and actually, temperatures are going to be a little bit cooler than what we've seen over the course of the last couple of days. let's look at what's going on in some of our suburbs to the north and west. currently, we're at 60 degrees. 58 in macungie, 59 in allentown. 60 degrees in reading and 61 in hopewell. this is one of the areas where we're looking at the cooler temperatures and we could even be looking at patchy frost here late tonight as the cold air again sweeps in out of the north and west. not going to be anything widespread but that's one. places where it can get colder locally. heading into sunday, high pressure remains in control. that brings us more sunshine than today. it has been clearing up nicely over the last couple of hours. it's going to warm up heading

into sunday. that trend will continue for your monday. we could reach the 80-degree mark as we get the workweek under way and tracking our next chance for showers that will hold off until the first part of next week. dry and breezy tonight, here's a live look outside at the center city skyline. as i mentioned, it's been on the breezy side. this is a dry wind ushering in more comfortable conditions for tonight. we're currently gusting to 22 miles per hour up to allentown. 24 miles per hour in coastal. elts where, not too bad. similar conditions toward mt. holly. high pressure in control. you can see the dry from the northeast to the deep south to parts of the central plains. pretty nice weather pattern in store tonight. tomorrow, the dry weather continues. the workweek gets under way on your monday, if you're headed out early to the north and west, it will be on the chilly side. we could start in the 30s in easton. by lunch time, lower 60s. the temperatures will be coming

up quickly. by 5:00 p.m. 65 degrees. cooling down through the course of the night. it will get warmer for the center city area. in particular, philadelphia about 70 degrees tomorrow with bright and sunny skies. chads ford 66. we're looking at plenty of sunshine across the board. we'll see the difference in temperature here toward the shore, perhaps around the 60 degree mark. that's something we've seen the entire week and that will continue as we head in through the course of tomorrow. the good news, to keep things dry for everyone into the second part of the weekend. again, near 70 degrees in philadelphia. for your monday, warmer. the southerly flow will intensi intensify. perhaps near 80 degrees into your monday. in terms of the next rain chance, it looks like that will hold off perhaps until the middle of the week. the chance for showers and storms does return as we head into tuesday. we clear things out on your wednesday. then we have another system that will return the chance for rain later in the week. this one is looking a little bit more substantial for thursday. perhaps into friday.
