right now at 6:00, breaking news in west philadelphia. a woman says she was abducted. duct taped and assaulted before she managed to free herself and get to police. we have a reporter just arriving to the scene where the victim escaped. he'll have a live report in just a moment. but we begin with decision 2016 and our area becoming a prominent stop on the road to the white house. the democratic presidential campaigns are fixated on our area today on the last weekend before the pennsylvania and delaware primaries. bill clinton stumping for his wife in the philadelphia area, while bernie sanders is in wilmington for a rally that just ended moments ago. >> let us have the highest voter

decades ago, weeks ago, months ago, and you don't know nair names, that's a problem. >> join us for nbc 10 at issue tonight at 7:00 right here on nbc 10. now to breaking news in philadelphia. a woman was abducted and sexually assaulted early this morning, but within the past few hours, she managed to escape and get help from police. >> we're live in west philadelphia where the victim somehow freed herself. brandon, what have you learned? >> reporter: denise, about 30 minutes ago, investigators left this area. we're told this area right here is where police say that the woman was dropped off and walked around the block for help. philadelphia police say less than 12 hours ago she was kidnapped and raped. detectives collected evidence in front of an abandoned house on 57th street and larchwood avenue. police tell us that at 4:00 this morning, a man held a 20-year-old woman at begun point in lancaster avenue.

he pushed her in a car, later duct taped and physically and sexually assaulted her. people who live on this street heard and saw her. >> i heard a lot of screaming and you know, she was like get off me, get off me. when i came downstairs, he was already out the car and she was arms had blood on it. she must have been bleeding from her face. >> it makes you want to keep your loved ones closer. anything like that could happen to anybody. when it's so close to your home, it's like, wow. >> reporter: police say the man is about 23 years old. they don't have much of a physical description of him at this time. they do say he drove a black four-door car with a garbage bag in one of the windows. we'll check with police and have an update for you later on tonight. reporting live in west philly, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. new at 6:00, volunteers doing cleanup at cooper river made a disturbing discovery.

they pulled up a human skull. they made that discovery at gateway park in the ad mirl wilson boulevard in pen sock en. more than 100 volunteers took part when they called police to the scene. police and the coroner are looking to identify the remains, which also included bones. police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a 25-year-old man at an apartment complex in southwest philadelphia. officers found the victim lying in the courtyard of the complex on the 8400 block of lindbergh boulevard last night. medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. the fiance of the victim said after they parked in the lot, an unknown man was seen walking behind their vehicle. her fiance got out of the car to throw out trash and that's when the gunman started firing at him. turning now to our weather,

rainy saturday morning across our area today. nbc 10 in center city a few hours ago where the rain cut down on some of the pollen in the air. taking a live look at conditions in cape may right now. still cloudy out there. but the rain has cleared out as we dry out tonight. we're in for a mostly sunny sunday. let's check the forecast outside your window with the new nbc 10 first alert neighborhood forecast. meteorologist violet a yas is here with more. >> it's going to let us take a closer look at what's going on in your area. regardless if it's philadelphia, jersey. >> you probably noticed the seven-day at the bottom. that's going to scroll continuously through the segment. you don't have to wait until the end to see what's going to happen the next couple of days. temperatures reached the upper 60s for the most part across the area. toward philadelphia right now, we're at 66 degrees with clearing skies behind the rainfall that we saw earlier

this morning. at the moment, 67 in society hill, 67 towards penn's port. 64 towards mt. airy, west mt. airy and 64 degrees. toward the suburbs, it's getting on the breezy side. that's with the dry air coming in as we head into tonight. south jersey, 67 degrees. as we've seen all week, it's been cooler toward the shore. it's cooler toward the shore points. 61 degrees with lingering cloud cover. of course, behind the front that brought in the rainfall last night and early this morning, you can see all of that has been pushed offshore. a lot of dry air in place across the northeast. very quiet conditions over the course of the next couple of hours. mid-40s by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow and with that, we give way to a very sunny sunday afternoon. temperatures will be coming up. we'll take a look at how warm it will be and the next chance for rain will be as we head into the earlier portion of next week. thanks. the wilmington community still waiting for answers after a girl dies following a fight inside a bathroom at her school. we'll tell you what's happening

but district attorney steve zappala gives the attackers plea deals. drops all charges of hate crimes. and now four will serve no jail time at all. five black guys jump one white guy... nobody would be going home. steve zappala. he shouldn't be our attorney general. tears fall on the cheeks of your children in the city. >> prayers and calls for peace following the death of a high school student in wilmington. members of the wilmington peacekeepers hosted the regular meeting in the rain outside howard high school of technology. that's where a 16-year-old girl died thursday after a fight with her girls in the bathroom. parents and students are still waiting for answers about the death of 16-year-old amy joyner francis. her friends telling us this should have never happened. >> my heart hurts.

an ohio businessman has put up a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the slayings of eight family members. authorities worked throughout the night processing evidence from four crime scenes where the members of the family were found yesterday in rural southern ohio. one of the victims was just 16

years old. police have not identified any suspects and they say whoever killed them should be considered armed and dangerous. the people who lived and work in north philadelphia -- >> while democrat bernie sanders campaigned in baltimore this afternoon, some of his supporters hit the streets of center city. campaign volunteers organized a movement for bernie, marched on city hall. it's an 11th hour push to get out the vote before the pennsylvania primary on tuesday. more support for sanders in philadelphia. today the philadelphia tribune endorsed bernie sanders for president. the paper cited sanders' personal judgment, his strong stance against police misconduct and his support for free college tuition. >> doesn't take long to -- seemed like it was yesterday. >> it's been a busy day for bill clinton. along with a stop in delaware county, the former president also visited with patrons at the

$300,000 for leukemia and lymphoma society. well, we had that rain move through last night and early this morning. that has pushed offshore and looking at quiet conditions for the remainder of tonight and actually, temperatures are going to be a little bit cooler than what we've seen over the course of the last couple of days. let's look at what's going on in some of our suburbs to the north and west. currently, we're at 60 degrees. 58 in macungie, 59 in allentown. 60 degrees in reading and 61 in hopewell. this is one of the areas where we're looking at the cooler temperatures and we could even be looking at patchy frost here late tonight as the cold air again sweeps in out of the north and west. not going to be anything widespread but that's one. places where it can get colder locally. heading into sunday, high pressure remains in control. that brings us more sunshine than today. it has been clearing up nicely over the last couple of hours. it's going to warm up heading

into sunday. that trend will continue for your monday. we could reach the 80-degree mark as we get the workweek under way and tracking our next chance for showers that will hold off until the first part of next week. dry and breezy tonight, here's a live look outside at the center city skyline. as i mentioned, it's been on the breezy side. this is a dry wind ushering in more comfortable conditions for tonight. we're currently gusting to 22 miles per hour up to allentown. 24 miles per hour in coastal. elts where, not too bad. similar conditions toward mt. holly. high pressure in control. you can see the dry from the northeast to the deep south to parts of the central plains. pretty nice weather pattern in store tonight. tomorrow, the dry weather continues. the workweek gets under way on your monday, if you're headed out early to the north and west, it will be on the chilly side. we could start in the 30s in easton. by lunch time, lower 60s. the temperatures will be coming

up quickly. by 5:00 p.m. 65 degrees. cooling down through the course of the night. it will get warmer for the center city area. in particular, philadelphia about 70 degrees tomorrow with bright and sunny skies. chads ford 66. we're looking at plenty of sunshine across the board. we'll see the difference in temperature here toward the shore, perhaps around the 60 degree mark. that's something we've seen the entire week and that will continue as we head in through the course of tomorrow. the good news, to keep things dry for everyone into the second part of the weekend. again, near 70 degrees in philadelphia. for your monday, warmer. the southerly flow will intensi intensify. perhaps near 80 degrees into your monday. in terms of the next rain chance, it looks like that will hold off perhaps until the middle of the week. the chance for showers and storms does return as we head into tuesday. we clear things out on your wednesday. then we have another system that will return the chance for rain later in the week. this one is looking a little bit more substantial for thursday. perhaps into friday.

again, as i mentioned, we'll continue to notice the temperature difference from the philadelphia area extending to some of our shore points. although it will also get warmer toward the shore. it looks like we keep things into the lower 70s as we head into your monday compared to the 80 degrees for the philadelphia area. the showers and thunderstorms will reach some of sour shore points. we dry things out into wednesday as well. again, our roler coaster ride, temperatures come up and going down. we'll an eye on that over the course of the next several days. i'm danny pommel from comcast sportsnet. here from the qb -- hear from the qb who could be the heir apparent. we'll set down a primer for game 6 next in sports. a little child with big dreams. dwight evans. first a community activist. a legislator at 25.
