chaka fatah concedes defeat. good evening, i'm jim rosenfield. >> i'm jacqueline london. congressman fattah was betting everything on this race. he even said it was a bigger priority than his criminal case. >> but pennsylvania state lawmakers dwight evans appears to have unseated him. here's a look at the results in right now. dwight evans with 43% compared to chaka fattah with 36%. >> live in center city where congressman fattah conceded less than an hour ago. george? >> reporter: yeah, jacqueline, truly the end of an era in pennsylvania politics, fattah the entrenched incumbent ousted from his congressional seat of 21 years just 6 days before his federal fraud and corruption trial is set to begin. fattah walked in to the party tonight with family, greeting supporters. a crowd of about 20 to 25 somber supporters. it had been called a victory

party, but for the first time in 12 elections, tonight fattah admitted that the numbers were not going to add up for him. he seemed to acknowledge that the indictment was too much to overcome. >> and, yes, against us tonight, very powerful and unflun shl peop people. they were on the other side. it's also clear the majority will have its way and they decided that someone else should take on the responsibility. >> reporter: now i asked the congressman as he walked away from that stage tonight if he attributed his defeat specifically to those criminal charges. he wouldn't give a direct answer. jury selection begins in his case on monday. reporting live tonight in center city, george spencer, nbc 10 news. and fattah's opponent dwight

evans barely made it through the door before he was greeted by a large group of friends, family and supporters at his election party. >> evans' family found out about his victory about ten minutes before his arrival. evans said his work is far from over. >> first, i want to thank the democratic voters of the 2nd congressional district. i am humbled by the trust that they have provided to me. >> there were no republicans running in the race, meaning evans will go to washington unopposed. to the race for president, hillary clinton and donald trump both claiming victory in pennsylvania and delaware tonight. trump made it a clean sweep winning every single primary up for grabs today. >> if you have the nbc 10 app, you've been getting up to the minute results all night long and you'll also see them across the bottom of your television screen. >> donald trump won a total of five states, connecticut, delaware, maryland, pennsylvania, and rhode island. hillary clinton won four out of five. that's connecticut, delaware, maryland, and pennsylvania. while bernie sanders pick rhode island tonight.

and tonight both trump and clinton were looking ahead. >> with your help, we're going to come back to philadelphia for the democratic national convention. >> i consider myself the presumptive nominee, absolutely. >> tonight, we have live team coverage on all the big races in our area from pennsylvania to delaware. we begin with nbc 10's lauren make live at the pennsylvania convention center where hillary clinton celebrated her victories tonight. lauren? >> reporter: jacquelinjacquelin cheers from this crowd every time they heard hillary clinton won another state. when she took the stage tonight, it wasn't primary wins she was talking about, but uniting the party and taking on a general election. >> thank you, pennsylvania. >> reporter: hillary clinton started with a shout-out to the

state that gave her a win but made tonight about what comes next. >> keep imagining a tomorrow where instead of building walls, we're breaking down barriers. >> reporter: the supporters cheering at the convention center are ready for her to head to the nomination. >> i got this t-shirt back in 2007. i was a big hillary supporter back then. >> first woman president possibly. >> i definitely think that everyone's looking at pennsylvania right now given, like, the delegate count, so this is definitely a state if she wins pennsylvania, i think it's really just, like, over for bernie sanders. >> reporter: but in west virginia, bernie sanders stood before thousands. the leader of a campaign and a movement still energized. >> i want to thank all of you for being prepared to stand up, fight back and make this country the nation we know it can become. >> reporter: clinton's wins tonight edge her closer to the nomination and the challenge of winning over not just voters but his voters. how does the party come together before the convention? >> it's hard work.

as simple as that. >> reporter: clinton tried to lay the groundwork tonight. >> and i applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get politics and giving -- >> reporter: talking about working together. >> whether you support senator sanders or you spore me, there's much more that unites us than divides us. >> reporter: and coming together three months from now in south philly. >> let's go forward, let's win the nomination and in july let's -- thank you so much. >> reporter: the crowd can get so loud sometimes you can't even hear the candidate, but, you know, as hillary clinton talked tonight about returning to philadelphia for the convention, she made a specific comment about how she'll do that. talking about coming back with both the most votes and also the most pledged delegates. a reference to being chosen by

the voters and not party leaders. live in center city, lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. >> philadelphia definitely in the spotlight tonight. lauren, thank you. let's take a look now, a closer look at the results from pennsylvania's presidential primaries. >> on the democratic side, hillary clinton won with 56% of the vote. bernie sanders got 43% of the vote so far. >> to the republicans, donald trump has won with, let's switch over to the republican race and the race for president. there it is. donald trump 57% to ted cruz's 21% and john kasich trailing with 19%. >> nbc 10's tim furlong live in wilmington where a republican watch party wrapped up, tim? >> reporter: it was a quick party tonight. donald trump won easily in delaware and pennsylvania as we told to and immediately seemed to get republicans at this party at this bar behind me to sort of go, huh, i guess he's going to be the guy in november. >> this is a far bigger win than we even expected. >> reporter: as victories go, this was pretty convincing.

>> i am so honored. >> i think what we saw is that republican voters have decided this primary is over. >> reporter: while ted cruz appears ready to keep fighting in other states -- >> tonight, this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. >> reporter: here in delaware, republicans at this watch party in trolley square seem to think whether they originally pulled for him or not that donald trump is now their candidate. >> i think it would be great for us to have somebody at the top of the ticket who can invigorate the party and be able to help us downballot, help us at the state level. >> reporter: there is still hesitation about trump. not everyone is on board with his brash talk, big promises and personal insults. some folks here tell me they hope to start seeing a more presidential trump here pretty soon. >> what we're seeing now isn't the real donald trump. it will be a much more moderate, much more softer, kinder, gentler trump. that's the donald trump i look towa forward to seeing. >> reporter: i talked to high ranking republican state

joe sestak who nearly won four years ago. >> let's look at the results for the democratic race. mcginty with 412%. mcginty will face republican incumbent pat toomey in november. >> randy gyllenhaal is live in south philadelphia where mcginty claimed big victory tonight. >> reporter: katie mcginty, longtime environmentalist, philadelphia native, former chief of staff to governor tom wolf won the democratic primary in pennsylvania. see the crowd behind me taking some photos with her right now. she spoke a few minutes ago. again, at this point hovering around 42% of the total vote. as you can see her interacting with some of her fans here. let me show you some video as she came out onto the stage to a cheering crowd chanting her name. telling the crowd she is ready to beat pat toomey and donald trump come november. taking the fight of working people from philly to d.c. she also thanked her opponents, john fetterman and joe sestak

for an ideas-based campaign. in her speech, she spoke of raising the minimum wage. she would be the first female senator from pennsylvania. take a listen to her speech from just a couple minutes ago. >> you know, you hear a lot about momentum in an election year. who's got wind in her sails? who's moving in the right direction and who's got the best shot to come out on top? but this year, the momentum is about one person, one group of people. it's about the people of pennsylvania. >> reporter: big cheers here at south philadelphia at the international stage worke erers union complex. thanking her fans again. looking ahead to the fall. she did say she would face incumbent republican pat toomey calling the trump/toomey ticket a brand of bigotry and hatred. let me see if i can grab her real quick. no comment from the senator tonight. we'll try to grab her later if

you'll find the election results running on the bottom of your screen and also find them on the nbc 10 app. in other news now, tonight a father accused of shooting his son during an argument in mayfair has been released without charges. police say this afternoon, the father was trying to drive his adult son to a doctor's appointment on princeton avenue but the son threw his keys out the father pushed his son away and shot him in the chest. the son is in stable condition at the hospital. an arrest 13 years in the making, tonight police say they finally found the arsonist who killed five people inside a philadelphia home. they say rivera lit that home on fire because of a fight. as nbc 10's brandon hudson reports now, the neighborhood is still scarred from the crime. >> reporter: that fire happened right down this street. we came right back to this part of olney to talk to neighbors who still remember the fire that killed five people of a

well-liked family. with news of an arrest, they're happy justice is being served. more than a decade later, you can still see the burn marks on this widner street home, reminder of a heartbreaking night for neighbors. >> every time you look over there, you remember it. i feel so bad for the family. >> reporter: lois who still lives across the street remembers wakes up to see her neighbor's house engulfed in flames. knowing some of them were trapped inside. >> i looked and i went oh my god, and i called it in. >> reporter: 13 years later, philadelphia police arrested abdu rivera. investigators tracked the 32-year-old down and took him into custody yesterday. police say rivera set the house on fire after he and some friends lost a fight to john santiago. >> because of their pride being hurt, they found out where he lived, came to the house and set the house on fire. >> reporter: santiago died in the fire. fire crews found the bodies of claris

clarissa, francisco, and baby jacqueline santiago inside. a fifth person, 17-year-old alex santiago, died weeks later. >> everybody was friends with everybody here. then they just had a baby. >> reporter: although neighbors don't talk about the fire much anymore, they still remember and now feel better knowing there was an arrest. >> i think it's beautiful. i think it's beautiful. justice has been served. >> reporter: police say abdu rivera has a lengthy criminal past. he's still in jail. neighbors told us the relatives that survived and once lived in that house on widner street have since moved. in olney, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. prince's sister asked a minnesota court today to appoint a trust company to temporarily oversee her brother's estate. tyka nelson told a judge her brother's business interests need to be managed following his death last week. she says she did not have a will. nelson asked that a bank that provided financial services to prince be named administrator of the estate. the court has not yet made a

decision on that. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> and with your new neighborhood weather, don't forget even if we are tracking storms you will always still be able to find your seven-day forecast right at the bottom of the screen no matter if you're in pennsylvania, new jersey, or delaware. that's why we have it. they're very digfferent defendig you live across the area. we don't have anymore storms now. we had a lot earlier this afternoon. really the only area that we're watching is right along the shore right near atlantic city. just to the north of atlantic city. this is an area of some light rain right around brigantine up to beach haven. it's going to be moving offshore, though, very soon. this is really all we have left. overnight tonight, though, we cannot rule out some more showers trying to move in. i think most of that will be south of philadelphia. here's a look at future weather. so as we go overnight tonight, the clouds are going to hang around. and then you see some light spotty showers. now we're looking at 7:30 tomorrow morning. can't rule out a couple showers

in new jersey or delaware. and then by the later morning hours, the models have been fairly consistent afternotries one area of moisture moving in from baltimore, possibly delaware and south jersey still having that better chance of some showers. at least through the first half of the day tomorrow. so, your forecast tomorrow, if you're in the lehigh valley, you'll have a better chance of seeing sunshine, but cooler temperatures than today. we were in the mid 80s today through most of the area. mid 6 0s through the lehigh valley. tomorrow, bethlehem coming in in the mid 60s tomorrow afternoon. in you're in the pennsylvania subu suburbs, mostly mid 60s for westchester, phoenixville and newtown. philadelphia area about the low 60s. mt. airy, 63 degrees. fairmount coming in at 62 with mostly cloudy skies. can't rule out a sprinkle. then we go into new jersey. glassboro, 59 degrees tomorrow. 60 degrees in haddonfield. along the shore, better chance of rain. 55 avalon. 56 atlantic city. for delaware, neighborhood temperatures, 57 dover.
