good republican nominee but there's no consensus that somehow ted cruz would be a better alternative and what you hear john boehner say is essentially what you hear behind the scenes here in washington with a lot of republicans. as much as they fear trump, they think the alternative in cruz is worse. this is why cruz is stuck where he's at right now. >> what you're saying is the prospect for a united republican party in this general election season are extremely dim. >> it's very dim. if the choices are trump and cruz it's not going to be a party that's going to be able to unite with itself and that's why when paul ryan took himself out -- and i'm convinced now, the stop trump movement totally lost all of it's steam when paul ryan said there's no way. don't expect me to be your savior at the convention. don't expect me to be somehow encouraging people to put me on the ballot and i think that's what we're staring at here and that's what the republican party

is staring at. one more point, matt, john boehner is not speaker of the house because of ted cruz. don't forget that and john boehner hasn't forgotten that. >> let's talk about indiana. it's supposed to be the alamo for the stop trump movement. does it still hold that potential? >> it doesn't because at this point trump can lose indiana and still get to the magic number. it's a little harder but the good news for trump is if he wins indiana, wins it by a point, what does ted cruz do from here? what is his rational after this? cruz put it all on the line. he has thrown it all out there. trying this running mate game. tried the alliance with kasich. if none of this works, where does he go? >> thank you. be sure to watch "meet the press" on sunday. the guest is ted cruz. >> convenient.

latest on this. what can you tell us? >> good morning. a very calm security guard kept the suspect distracted while employees got out. he claimed he had a bomb and he was talking about a government conspiracy. social media video shot by a fox station employee of baltimore police confronting a suspect that claimed he had a bomb. after refusing to surrender police opened fire. it all started when a man wearing an animal costume, surgical mask and what appeared to be explosives on his chest showed up at the tv station carrying a flash drive that he wanted the station to air. a man that identified him as edward breezy told our baltimore affiliate the suspect was his son alex. a station security guard kept him disstratracted alerting

employees to evacuate. >> he said i don't want to hurt anyone. i don't want to hurt you. i just want my message heard. >> in the parking lot he had his car on fire. as he walked out of the station s.w.a.t. team officers were waiting guns drawn. they ordered him on the ground but when he refused they opened fire. police stayed back as a robot moved in to remove the suspect's vest but it turns out the vest wasn't made of explosives. >> those devices were actually chocolate can day bars wrapped in aluminum foil with wiring connecting each of them. there was also a small motherboard. >> officers cautiously moved in. the suspect taking to a waiting armored vehicle. photos on facebook give a glimpse into his life. his dad saying his son is not a threat and a recent break up is to blame. >> it looks like he has just had a mental break down.

>> he is also saying his son said a few weeks agatha he had had a revelation from god or from jesus that the world was going to come to some sort of a terrible event on june 3rd and he was trying to get the word out with the flash drive. >> thank you. the fbi arrested three more people in connection with the san bernardino shooting in september. prosecutors say three people related to the shooter were involved in a marriage scheme to allow one of them to remain in the united states fraudulently. investigators uncovered the sham marriage during their investigation of the shooting that killed 14 people and wounded 22 others. >> there's a new twist in the investigation of the death of pop super star prince. law enforcement looking into what role a doctor or doctors may have played in a possible drug overdose. stephanie gosk is in minnesota with the latest. hi, stephanie.

>> good morning. with no official cause of death details into the investigation of prince's final days continue to leak out. the associated press is reporting that investigators are looking into whether a doctor prescribed drugs for him that lead to an overdose and whether a doctor was on board that plane that made an emergency landing the day pfr hbefore his death. meanwhile the family had the first meeting about the estate and it could get complicated. >> no will, no spouse, and no children. prince's estate worth as much as 300 million will be split among his surviving siblings. they all met for the first time in thursday in indianapolis including his half brother that spoke with nbc news. >> how was it to see everybody? >> pretty good. made me feel better. >> jackson's lawyer admitted an estate as large and complicated as prince's is not easily divided.

>> everything was everywhere. i have a sense that he intended it this way so he could share with all of his siblings. >> is this going to be tough? >> well not from our end. >> jackson says it has been years since he was in contact with his brother. he saw paisley park for the first time this week. >> i knew he built it. he built it with his own hands. so i just wanted to see it. >> as the family negotiates, the sheriff's office worries the intense public scrutiny could jeopardize the investigation. a judge granted a request to seal a search warrant that police filed the day prince died but the sheriff's department did release a list of calls for service at paisley park. police were requested for suspicious activity, alarms and fires. last year in august and then in september the reason was listed as medical with no further details. ♪ >> so the mystery remains.

>> good morning. welcome to what is now part of the new biloxi river. this morning is it some 4.5 feet above flood stage. this was all caused by a massive storm yesterday. i want to show you what it looked like here. more than 10 inches of rain fell here in just a couple of hours. it was a dramatic scene. the mayor declared an emergency here. there are more than 200 911 calls, more than 50 rescues made here and a wild week of weather all across the country. more than 22 tornadoes touching down in 7 different states. authorities from across the country have been most concerned about the tornado alley area of the midwest where they have seen a severe bout of severe weather. here in mississippi they're concerned that this water level will rise a couple of more inches as we move forward but there's good news. no homes are in the immediate threat danger but the wild weather, the heavy rain will continue through the weekend.

happening in los angeles. two nuns battle it out in court to determine if katy perry has a right to own their former convent. take it as an article of faith. real estate can be an unholy mess. who owns the right to sell the 22,000 square foot mansion that once housed the blessed virgin mary convent. none of the nuns live on the property but they still believe the right to sell is theirs and two of them struck a deal with the local developer to buy the property for $15.5 million in june of last year. >> i got very swept away by the sisters. >> the los angeles diocese claims the sell is invalid and the nuns gave control of the property to them in 1992. they entered into a similar deal with pop star katy perry. the dispute made it to the los angeles superior court and just over two weeks ago the judge

ruled in favor of the arch diocese referring from a decree from the vatican dismissing the sisters case. the sisters argue the decree was incorrectly translated and now filed a motion for reconsideration in order to save the decision. >> it clearly says matters are not concluded in the vatican. the judge should not have ruled that matters were concluded. >> first part the archdiocese stated their main concern is and have always been the care and wellbeing of all the heart of mary sisters and they stand with the court's ruling that protects all the sisters from an invalid transaction. though they pledged to look after the five remaining sisters until their death. what's at stake is who controls the money. >> the sisters have the ability to control their own affairs. >> she says this is not about her or katy perry saying it is

interesting. >> interesting and a very hot debate this morning. me fwan floyd called hers me-ternity. she saw colleagues leave for months on end after having a child. so she thought it would be good for anyone. she linked that idea to maternity leave and gave heat to a furious debate. >> that bundle of joy can be a challenge and it's why new parents take maternity leave but megan turned that idea on its head with her novel called me-ternity. it's a woman that fakes a pregnancy in order to use paid time off to figure her life out. she is quoted but saying i couldn't help but feel envious when they left early to tend to their children. the backlash was swift with one

saying meternity leave criticized parenthood. maternity leave is not a vacation and sometimes not even paid. it's only a good idea if the people on me-ternity leave can only sleep 40 minutes every four hours for the next five years. but it was meant as a fun look at a personal journey and didn't mean to compare it to real life maternity leave. >> i actually think they're very different. a maternity leave is a time you're fully focused on another human being and a me-ternity leave is a time for you. to take a step back. >> she took that step a few years ago going on her own me-ternity leave. >> i decided to save up a lot of money and quit my job and start to carve out a freelance writing career. >> she doesn't think they should get free time off.

habits. not only that but when we have positive relationships we actually live longer so it's a gift for yourself. >> so you really need to fully forgive someone to get on that path to healing. >> forgiveness is a process. it's not all or nothing. so the more you forgive the more benefits you're going to get. >> so it's not forgive and forget right? >> we often confuse forgiveness with forgetting. it's not the same thing. >> there's a difference between forgiving someone and reconciling with them. you could forgive someone and still think that's not a healthy relationship. i shouldn't go back to that. >> absolutely. forgiving is getting rid of the notion that that shouldn't happen. you can forgive and get rid of that anger but still decide not to get back into that relationship. >> back to our one small thing idea. you have a good catch phrase in terms of deciding if you want to forgive something and fill in the blank is better than perfect. >> yeah.

tonight but his roots have always been in stand up comedy. >> up on stage doing stand up it's the freest form of expression you can have. lopez endorsed democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders. >> i made a joke about bernie sanders. people were like he doesn't know what he's talking about. i'm a comedian. it's a joke. >> i don't like donald trump's politics. to call mexicans rapists and criminals. it's mean. if he wins i'm leaving the united states and i'm taking eva longoria with me. >> lopez devotes time to his community. he has an annual toy give away where every child at his former elementary school receives a gift during the holidays. >> the reason that i enjoy helping people is i know what it's like to be in need and i know what it's like to go to bed

hungry. i do it because we didn't have anything growing up. so it helps. >> through his foundation lopez raises awareness about kidney disease. he had a genetic condition with his kidneys and in 2005 his wife donated one of her own to hill. lopez lost 45 pounds after the operation. now lopez continues to make strides for the latino community. >> i want to say i appreciate that. >> we don't think the same. we don't eat the same. we don't vote the same. we don't even talk the same language. i'm not trying to encompass all latinos. i'm trying to tell my story. over the course of my career i've seen more cohesiveness between latinos. there's a unity there that wasn't there 25 years ago. >> and george lopez is currently on his comedy stand up tour at arenas across the country. such a good guy and hasn't

taking a look at the headlines the fda approved the first commercial zika test. it received emergency authorization from federal officials to sell the first commercially developed test for zika in the u.s. it plans to make it broadly available to doctors for patient testing early next week. parents or caregivers that eyes wander a lot during play time may be raising children with shorter attention spans. that's a warning from a group of psychologists that found toddlers find it hard to focus if their parents or caregivers are distracted. it's the first to show a connection between how long a caregiver focuses on an object

and the baby does. researchers at oregon state university found that if you're healthy working past 65 could lower your risk of mortality by 11%. effectively adding years to your life. even those that consider themselves unhealthy are likely to live longer as long as they keep punching the clock. >> mcdonald's want to take the mystery out of mcnuggets so it's giving them a makeover. it's testing a version with no artificial preservatives in oregon and washington and tweaking the recipe to remove ingredients that people might not recognize. the new recipe is simpler and people can feel good about it. no word on when the new nuggets will go national. >> a funny moment from the world of nhl hockey. a player gets the short end of the stick. take a look, this isn't the best way to try to score a goal. his stick got caught in the visor of his helmet.
