like superheroes. we decided to bring the festival and bring a comic element in as well. a great thing. it's free and family-friendly for all ages. >> the event is the headhouse district. tell us the work you do to support them and what they do. >> we're a business improvement district. we market the area, support the businesses. we have over 400 great businesses in the area. we try to market that, keep the street clean and safe and fun for everybody. it's of the top destinations in philadelphia. sore we're proud to have people come down and celebrate with us that day. >> speaking of clean streets, you block off south street from where to where? because that allows everybody to walk. you don't have to worry if you have kids, you don't have to worry about cars and all that. >> it works great. we shut down from front to 8th street, then we have the headhouse plaza is closed so we get everybody in. we have strollers and people wandering up and down the street with food, with drinks, with entertainment on every single block and something to do.

you never go 50 feet without seeing something cool and interesting. >> south street is a party anyway, but it's even better on saturday. that's this saturday, may 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and as michael said, it will run along headhouse plaza between south and pine streets, and on south street from front to 8th. for more information, head to our website at nbc10.com or check out the nbc10 app. michael harris, thank you very much for coming in. hopefully the weather is good for you. >> it looks like it's going to break right. >> speaking of weather. >> certainly not breaking right over the next few days. very variable weather yesterday. some places with sunshine, near 80. others, cloudy and barely above 50. today, much more uniform. we have drizzle in philadelphia now at 56 degrees. also drizzle reported in lehigh valley at 55. and in new jersey, it is cloudy. there was a good bit of rain
11:50 am
last night. and the temperatures generally in the 50s. pitman, 55. turnersville, voorhees, hadden township, a lot of places. 55, clayton, and farther to the north, lumberton, 55. hamilton, 55. 53 degrees in princeton. so like i said, it is fairly uniform. look at the clouds across philadelphia area. we don't have any kind of heavy rain around. take a look at the radar over the past few hours. and you know, we're going to find that we have had the heavier rain, the steadier rain overnight last night. that's moved offshore. y skies remain. and well, let's see if there's more coming. yeah, more moisture, but there's nothing really well organized or heavy. we see some in west virginia. we see some getting into ohio now. and that isn't going to be
11:51 am
bothering us much. now, as we go through this afternoon, the clouds stay around. we don't have much in the way of any kind of steady rain, but we could see drizzle from time to time. tonight, patches of light rain and drizzle and fog. very similar to what we're seeing now. tomorrow, a little more significant rain in the lehigh valley, berks county, and some of the suburbs north and west of philadelphia like chester county, bucks and montgomery. as we go through the afternoon, the heaviest of the rain goes toward harrisburg, but later on during the day, again, lehigh valley, more of the target. tomorrow, where last night, the biggest target was delaware and south jersey. as we go into thursday, we can't get rid of the clouds. and we're going to have the wind coming in off the ocean and temperatures stay low. you can see that in the seven-day forecast scrolling continuously at the bottom of the screen.
11:52 am
and there is 11:00 a.m. thursday. noon thursday. same story, and we may actually see more rain on friday than what we're going to see in the next three days. today in philadelphia, only 59 degrees. again, a little bit of drizzle. we had our most of our rain overnight and first thing in the morning. not going to rain all day. should be cloudy all day, that will keep the temperature down. average high is 70. nowhere near that over the next few days. thursday, 59 with a little more in the way of showers. friday could be the wettest day and also the coolest day. high only 57. there could also be some minor coastal flooding as a result of the new moon plus the east wind. then we start breaking out. as soon as the wind changes and a little sunshine comes out, temperatures just jump up into the 70s. that includes mother's day. may get a thunderstorm. but that's just a relatively brief thing.
11:53 am
looks like most of the day should be dry, and you can see we're brak to drier and warmer pattern monday, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday of next week. we'll be right back.
