"nbc 10" south jersey bureau reports live in lacey township with an update. good morning, cydney. >> reporter: good morning, vai. as you know, this is the second time in six days that escaped convict arthur buckle has shown his face at a very public place. he walked out of this rest stop

last night sometime between 9:30 and 11:00 p.m. and hasn't been seen since. these are the newest images of buckles who appears dirty on this surveillance video. look, he is wearing a camouflage shoulder bag and carrying a gallon jug of water. he borrowed a rest stop employee's cell phone, placed a call and disappeared. the sighting initiated an all out search by the new jersey department of corrections and local law enforcement authorities to include berkeley township and lacey township police. before dawn those officers swarmed the area using canine dogs on the ground and by day break state police lended their chopper as an asset in this manhunt from the air. new jersey's department of corrections says buckle did express an interest in surrendering to authorities but it is unclear if he placed the call directly to police or called on a relative to reach out to investigators. buckles photo, of course, is all over the place after he broke free from bay side prison unit

in hammonton last tuesday. he was there serving a lighter sentence after being freed in the summer of 2010 on manslaughter charges in the death of a baby girl. >> we've got a lot of woods. these are all pine barrons. you go back in the trees with all the pine trees, it's dark down there, you know? you can hide for sure. only way to catch him is a dog. >> reporter: now rick parson of the nearby town is familiar with this stretch parkway. it is very wooded. take a look back live. it is known as the double trouble state park. earlier this morning our cameras caught police crossing the busy stretch right here of the garden state park way, vai, to run into the woods. needles to say there have definitely been anxious hours of the motorists stopping off to stretch their legs. they see all of the news vans out here. increased presence of the police. some have run back to get into their cars quickly. we're in touch with the department of corrections as

well as police and will let you know as soon as we hear anything. we're live in lacey township, cydney long, "nbc 10 news." meanwhile, the quarterback is back. sam bradford returned to the eagles training complex for the first time since demanding a trade. the team confirmed that bradford returned to the novembo care complex. he demanded to be trade after they drafted quarterback carson wentz. the eagles refused maintaining that bradford was their starter. he has reportedly now dropped that trade request. bradford released a statement saying, quote, i'm excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches. the business side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. my attention and efforts are focused on the participation and the preparation for a championship season. i am committed to my teammates and the eagles organization for nothing less. and philadelphia police early this morning arrested a murder suspect who they say admitted to killing his girlfriend. they say the 24-year-old man

called 911 early this morning saying that he strangled his girlfriend to death. when police got to the home on aurora street they found the woman dead and her four children from a previous relationship sleeping in the house. there was no sign of the suspect. police used his cell phone signal from his 911 call to track his whereabouts. he was arrested just before 5:00 this morning near thompson and cumberland in port richmond. a fight between two homeless men ended with a stabbing. it started at 12th and race streets around midnight. the victim has minor injuries to his face. the suspect is now in custody. and at this hour we are learning more about the $429 million winning powerball ticket sold in mercer county. new jersey lottery officials are holding a briefing at the 7-eleven store. someone bought that ticket that

to a group in atlantic city and to the people here. he told rally goers that the greediness he's fighting against is the greed that landed atlantic city in the financial crisis that it's now in. now is a time to change and he believes he's the man who do it. next up, the west virginia primary. that's tomorrow. on wednesday hillary clinton will be in camden, new jersey, trying to rally her voters as well. reporting live in atlantic city, i'm pamela osborne, "nbc 10 news." pam, thank you. donald trump will be in new jersey on may 19th to appear at a pair of fundraisers. one of them will go towards helping governor chris christie pay off a quarter of a million dollars in debt for his run for the white house. in pennsylvania senator pat toomey is voicing concern about donald trump's abilities. he told reporters yesterday that he likely won't attend the republican national convention in an editorial on philly.com yesterday the republican senator called trump's candidacy, quote, highly problematic. toomey added he's inclined to

support his party's nominee. he wrote that it is up to trump to make the case for himself in a way that ensures millions of republicans and nonrepublicans who have grave doubts about him. winning the nomination is a great accomplishment but it does not mean party members check their judgment at the door. and remember you can get the latest updates on 2016 candidates and contests with the "nbc 10" app. it is a free download. and breaking news, north carolina's governor's office is suing the federal government over their state law that limits protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. the u.s. justice department last week said the law violated the civil rights of trans genders. it all has to do with public restroom access. the law requires transgender people to use public bathrooms corresponding to the sex on their birth certificate. the justice department has set a

deadline for today for north carolina's governor to report whether he would enforce that law. severe storms hit south and central oklahoma sunday. a camera captured one of those storms producing a tornado. the twister was on the ground for several minutes. the area was also hit with heavy rains, flooding and golf ball sized hail. those same storms left dozens of cars under water at an oklahoma mall. look at this. witnesses say some cars were floating while others didn't even leave the ground but were filled with water. one mother of seven who works at the mall and had to walk through water that was almost up to her waist as she left her job, her husband came to help. >> gave me a call, i came out here to see what i could do. i walked straight through it up to the north entrance. >> glad i've got full coverage. >> yes. >> the flood waters receded. tow truck crews were busy removing all of those damaged vehicles. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather with chief

meteorologist glen hurrican hur schwartz. we're not expecting a continuation of this sunshine. we have some rain. 69 degrees with high clouds coming into the philadelphia area. high thin clouds across the pennsylvania suburbs, jersey, lehigh valley. temperatures 66 to 68. delaware with a little bit thicker clouds out there and this is going to be an issue as we go through the day. now temperatures are going to go up a few more degrees. you can see philadelphia we're getting into the low 70s, but it doesn't really cool off very much tonight. in trenton, again, low 70s. cools off into the 50s. so it's not going to be as cool as it was this morning. in reading up near 70 degrees despite the clouds thickening up and then dropping down into the mid 50s overnight.

wilmington, up near 70 and then the temperature doesn't even drop below 60 degrees tonight at the clouds come in. now at the jersey shore the southerly wind is starting to come in. it's kind of mild. 65 degrees in atlantic city and colgate, 67 at woodbine. so far the temperatures uniform. back to the 70s at least across most of the area. it was nowhere near that on friday or any day last week. 56 degrees, 63 saturday. 72 degrees for today. you can see your seven day forecast at the bottom of the screen for your area, not just philadelphia anymore. you don't have to wait until the end of the weathercast to see it either. you can see there's nothing on radar even though we do have clouds that are starting to come into the area. they're generally high clouds. and this area of rain is mostly

headed just to the south of philadelphia, but this part, that may get us during the day tomorrow. so we do expect at least an increase in the chances for rain. as we go into tomorrow morning, there could be a few sprinkles in philadelphia. best chance in delaware and south jersey. as we go through the day, most of the region has a threat of some rain during the day and then more coming in from the west during the day on wednesday. so we've got a couple of days here with at least some threats of rain. now over the next few days this is what we have. we have 70s today, clouds but dry. tomorrow in philadelphia, do expect periods of rain. it will help knock the temperature down and then some showers on wednesday. pa suburbs, rain tomorrow and then on wednesday the temperature goes back up. lehigh valley, better chance of

intensifies for an escaped prisoner in ocean county. authorities say the fugitive inmate was spotted on surveillance camera at a service area in lacey township. here's where that rest stop is. it's about 15 miles from barn na gate where arthur buckle was spotted last week and 15 miles from the ancor unit. cydney long is with us in lacey township. sidn cydney, what's the latest? >> reporter: investigators involved in the manhunt won't confirm that arthur buckle may be getting tired. the only thing they'll tell us is that he or a relative made arrangements for his surrender last night sometime between 9:30 and 11:00 here at this rest stop, but he apparently got cold feet and took off before 11:00. it forced a ramped up manhunt that will continue through the day today. rest stop surveillance images of

buckle shows him in shorts and work boots and carrying a jug of water. police tell me he borrowed a rest stop employee's cell phone, placed a call, gave the phone back and then disappeared. the sighting caused police to swarm this area, the adjacent parking lot and woods nearby. new jersey department of corrections along with berkeley township and lacey township police are combing an area of the pine barons known as double trouble state park. it is back. they are using canine dogs on the ground, a southbound helicopter. we can hear it searching by air. new jersey department of corrections says that buckle may want to turn himself in but police didn't confirm if he called them himself or he reached out to a brother to contact them. buckles photo is all over social media and police facebook pages, tomorrow marks a week since he escaped from ancora's bay side prison. he is just 19 days away from his parole eligibility hearing for

yet, but we have learned this morning a little bit more about them and about that winning ticket. we know that it was sold right here at this 7-eleven in trenton on tuesday about 5:20 in the evening. now the winner actually chose their own numbers. this was not one where the numbers were automatically generated. they bought two picks, one for the drawing on wednesday and one for the drawing on saturday. and the lottery official here said they spent about $6, and for that $6 investment they are now going to be getting $284 million because they are choosing the cash payout as opposed to the one where you get all that money over a long period of time. now this store here is owned by a local couple who is so excited. let's take a listen to what they had to say about the big news. >> i didn't know.

"nbc 10" first alert chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here with the forecast and what those clouds may mean. tracking rain again, glen, maybe? >> eventually, vai, there is going to be rain moving in. now a lot of these places are reporting sunshine here. that's the automated gauges. they can't detect clouds 12,000 feet in the atmosphere. high clouds are in. other than that, sunny skies. you can see philadelphia where there's a human observer all righting mostly cloudy skies. the temperature already up to 70 degrees. saint david's at 70. chester heights at 72. not going to go up a lot more

than that because of the increased clouds. new hope, 70, bensalem at 71 degrees. there's nothing close on radar, at least not yet, but it's starting to get closer to the washington and baltimore area. it's not moving up this way immediate immediately, but the clouds certainly are. you can see them starting to come in through the west and they'll be thickening up. some of this rain that's down around pittsburgh is going to make it into our area, at least eventually. and as we go through the day today, the temperature will be going up near 70, into the low 70s. not dropping that much into the night tonight. by tomorrow morning we have a chance of some rain in philadelphia, mostly cloudy skies in the pennsylvania suburbs. and the lehigh valley. also getting up well into the

60ser near 70 degrees. then dropping it to the 40s tonight because the clouds will be thinning up to the north. we've got a chance of some of that rain coming to the jersey shore even overnight tonight. we'll see when this rain is going to be coming and what areas are going to get hit the hardest with the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. >> thank you, glenn. the premiere of alberta, canada, will be in the fire ravaged town of fort mcmurray today. the evacuations are finally over. firefighters are getting the upper hand as the massive fire shifts away from the communities. the huge wild fire devoured 600 square miles. 1600 homes are now gone. it will be a long time before residents can return. there's no drinkable water or utilities. firefighters lost their own houses as they scrambled to save others. >> i don't consider myself a hero. but i've met more heroes in this

experience than i've ever thought existed. >> rain and cooler temperatures are helping firefighters as they put out hot spots. and the family of an 11-year-old girl who was critically injured on a ride called the king's crown, her friends said the ride jerked and elizabeth fell. that's when her hair got caught up in the ride. a mother reportedly stepped in and stopped the ride and others jumped in. the 11-year-old suffered a fractured skull. she remains in critical condition. the family wants to know what precautions are being taken and whether the person operating the ride will face charges. >> why isn't this man being held responsible for doing this to our daughter? >> the family also said the people who helped elizabeth at the ride and the hospital staff are all heroes. it is a hidden danger inside many homes, and experts say

"nbc 10" breaking news. and we have breaking news on this case that we've been following for the better part of a week. ocean county prosecutor's office confirms to us that escapee arthur buckle has been taken into custody. they say he was captured without incident on the northbound side of the garden state parkway near mile marker 76. buckel was 19 days away from a parole hearing. he was convicted of killing a girlfriend's 10-month-old daughter. we have on the phone cydney long. >> reporter: hi, vai. when we spoke to you live at 11:30, we could tell something was developing as a convoy of police and department of corrections vehicles basically headed south on the garden state parkway. they did a very fast turn around, a u-turn at the rest stop where we are at lacey

township. right now we are standing on the side of the garden state parkway. it is pretty much, vai, a dead stop. we know that escaped inmate arthur buckel who escaped from the psychiatric hospital, the bay side satellite prison unit last week on tuesday has finally been captured we are told without incident. a state police source tells me that the department of corrections has been able to capture buckel and no one has been hurt. what i'm seeing is traffic stacked up along the garden state parkway northbound and numerous department of corrections vehicles and police who are up on the left-hand side we are told that buckel is essentially right outside of this double trouble state park and may be sitting on a barrier on the side of the highway, although i can't see down that far, vai. we do know that final bely on

this sixth day buckel is in police custody, that the department of corrections has him again. seven days tomorrow, it would have been a week, vai. people in the garden state, new jersey residents, many of whom who were alarmed, upset, even stretching their legs to stop here this morning at the rest stop quite concerned about someone who had this violent history as he did now being back in custody. vai? >> yeah, stay with us for just another second here. i know a lot of people in new jersey at the area surrounding that are relieved. do you have any information whether they found him or he walked up to police and just surrendered. any word on that? >> reporter: vai, that's the part that's uncertain right now. because we can't see down that far, we've been communicating by text and e-mail with the authorities. i've yet to get the department of corrections on the phone. in fact, i called and there was
