>> tomorrow is going to be better. and friday's going to be better than that. and then just enjoy friday because as we go into the weekend, seeing more rain moving in, not for everyone all weekend, though. here's a live look center city, philadelphia. sun trying to reflect off of liberty 1 and 2, more sunshine trying to work its way in. we have showers that have managed to move back into the area. so, few more showers before we dry out for the next couple of days. temperatures in philadelphia everybody 69. we have certainly warmed up from earlier this morning. it was pretty chilly. we have light rain. and what we are watching now is light to moderate rainfall through parts of the lehigh valley and burkes county. moving through the allentown area. rest of us are dry. seeing mostly cloudy skies. but that batch of rain, that will be sliding up to the north and east end and out of here as we go through this evening. look off to the west, we're not looking at any more rain moving our way over the next couple of days. a lot of dry air around the

great lakes and that's moving in as we go through overnight hours. planner by 10:00 p.m., upper 50s. tomorrow, dry. pennsylvania suburbs, lehigh valley, more sunshine as we go into your day tomorrow. everyone looking at nice conditions to start off your thursday. we'll take a closer look at rain on the radar and weekend forecast coming up. new video into nbc 10. police in northeast philadelphia need your help to find a vandalism suspect. you can see in the video here, a young man walking past suv on the street last saturday. the owner reported the vehicle scratched right around the same spot that boy walked by. eight other vehicles in the area were also damaged. >> overbrook family says ongoing feud between two teens led to a fire and shooting outside their house. police aring looking for a 19-year-old who showed up at a house and started a fire on the porch. the family came out to see that fire and that's when police say the suspect fired his gun.

family ran back inside. but the bullets came through the front and hit another 19-year-old inside. he's in critical condition. >> expert witness testified the murder trial of jimmy super fly snuka should not be halted. there is little evidence he has significant brain trauma. he's accused of murdering his girlfriend back in 1983. his defense argues the wrestler has early onset dementia and post-concussion syndrome and his trial should be halted. it unclear when the judge might rule. star prosecution witness on the stand at corruption trial for congressman chaka fattah. yesterday a former student loan executive testified he loaned lyndon feld a million to pay for political ads during the mayoral campaign in 2007. deanna durante is in the

courtroom now. she'll have new information tonight on "nbc 10 news at 6:00." overtime pay is about to become a reality for millions of workers around the country. it's the result of a rule change issued today by the white house. nbc 10's keith jones is live with a closer look who will benefit and how. >> what the change means is that over 4 million workers who weren't eligible for overtime before, will now be eligible. salaried workers who make more than $25,000 -- rather, $23,000 a year can be denied overtime. but under the new plan, anyone mixing less than $47,000 a year must be eligible for o.t. pay. business groups say this will increase paperwork for small companies while forcing some businesses to convert salaried workers to hourly ones and limit time they work. the vice president spoke about the matter. he says it's about fairness, making sure that hard work is

rewarded. >> a lot of this isn't complicated. a lot of this isn't that complicated. we make it sound complicated but it's all basically about just being fair. it's amazing when you're fair to people. what they can do. >> estimated 4. 2 million workers affected by the change, over 184,000 in pennsylvania. more than 131,000 in new jersey. about 15,000 in delaware. new overtime pay change takes effect december 1st of this year. soda tax battle bubbled up in front of city council. this time, supporters of the measure making their voices heard. the loud but peaceful group asked to leave council chambers during the hearing. they wanted to show the support for mayor kenney's tax which would charge three cents per ounce. honey would be used to help fund

education, police and fire departments. >> a lot of the people that would be doing the taxing, they don't even live in philadelphia. they're not paying taxes. they're not feeling the weight that we're feeling. we're not dealing with pre-k and ked indication that has been in limbo so long. >> those against the tax say it would hurt their businesses and cost jobs. to decision 2016 coverage. with new security concerns on the campaign trail. >> u.s. intelligence have seen indication of foreign hackers spying on the presidential candidates. the fbi homeland security working with three candidates' campaigns to help tighten security. the director of national intelligence says activity follows a pattern in the past two presidential elections. experts say, neither donald trump nor hillary clinton's campaign networks are secure

enough to stop the potential cyberattacks. fresh off his win in oregon, democratic candidate bernie sanders is hitting the ground running for one of the biggest contests left. he's campaigning now in san jose, california. the vermont senator vowed to take the battle for the nomination all the way to the convention here in philadelphia this summer. when you do the math, sanders trails by 700 delawares. the front-runner only needs 90 more for the nomination. trump released a list of potential supreme court justices he'd like to fill the seat of the late scalia. one of the people is a federal appeals court judge from pennsylvania. president obama nominated merrick garland in february but majority of congressional republicans believe the next president should fill that vacancy. comments involving donald trump are creating a firestorm

today but not from the presumptive nominee. >> it's ed rendell at center of the controversy. he was asked about donald trump. rendell said, trump's comments about women would come back to haunt him. there are probably more ugly women in america than attractive women, people take that stuff personally. end quote. nbc 10's aundrea cline-thomas getting comments. donald trump will visit new jersey tomorrow to help governor chris christie erase some of the debt from the failed white house run. >> christie sinking to all-time low. cydney long spoke to voter whose didn't shy away from sounding off. >> reporter: they usually don't. not at all. some tell me they'd be surprised if governor christie got a vote of confidence and others say his

bold personalty is what puts new jersey on the map. the poll finds 64% of voters in the garden state disapprove of the job governor christie is doing. only 29% support him. now, even more voters 72% say it would be a bad idea for presumptive gop nominee donald trump to take christie as his running mate. it leaves 18% of voters who would like christie to have a shot of being the nation. vp, should trump succeed. here's what some voters had to say. >> i think he would be a great vice president. i think that he's very strong and knows what he's doing. i think that he would really shake things up. >> the fact that atlantic cities failing, there's such controversy around the state taking over atlantic city and he's nowhere to be found and

worried about donald trump. >> that voter went on to tell me she'd be shocked if christie's approval rating doesn't drop a bit more before the end of the term. it's up at the end of 2017. cydney long, nbc 10 news. be on the lookout for bears in delaware. that warning comes from police after pair of sightings, a black bear spotted outside the home in the wood creek community. the first sighting happened yesterday in pike creek. a boy saw a black bear in the backyard of a home late at night. we spoke to that boy's father today. san bernardino he says it was big. my youngest son says it's the size of a car, of course, a little kid. that's about it. i called 911. they stated there have had other sightings in the area. >> tim furlong spoke to the boy who saw the bear.

we'll hear from him at 5:00. the latest in a siri of bear sightings. here's a picture of a bear spotted yesterday. last friday a bear spotted in the creek in philadelphia. taking a swim. you can see that animal enjoying the cool water. over the weekend, a bear was spotted at pen oaks township. sixers fans celebrating with new reason to be on mioptimisti. nbc 10 was on the steps of the art museum, the sixers unfurled the massive jersey. number one is significant because that's where the team will be picking in upcoming draft. >> that means the number one pick in the 2016 nba draft goes to the philadelphia 76ers. >> sixers coach all smiles as the team won the nba draft

we have afternoon rain around maiden creek, also douglas seeing that, pennsburg, across 476. coopersburg seeing that more moderate rainfall, too. starting to look at upper bucks county, lehigh valley closer to allento allentown. we'll watch this through the rest of the evening. mostly continue to stay north and west of philadelphia as it moves up towards new york. look back off to our west. we have a lot of dry air to the west. that's what will be heading our way as we go into tomorrow. tomorrow will be better even than today. we are at 70 in philadelphia. most of the area sitting in the 60s, especially where we see rain midst to low 60s. 68 in society hill. west mt. airy. 70 fox chase. 67 degrees. 69 winchester park. comfortable this afternoon now that we've seen it.

he jumped out of a hotel window and stole the ambulance when it showed up to take him to the hospital. he does pull over and surrender. take a look at this dash cam video from alaska. an officer pulls up as an suv burns in the backdrop. the driver is trapped as the flames spread. watch and listen as the officer and several bystanders work together to rock the car and free the driver. >> go, go. >> a huge team effort, after several pushes the driver is able to pop out through the sunroof. he credited the group's quick thinking and teamwork with saving his life. remarkable how they all came together like that, quickly, without thinking. >> adrenaline sets in, i think, at that point. >> speaking of adrenaline, celebrating a century by breaking a world record.

you don't need sunshine to pick strawberries. nbc 10 here, this little girl gathers up fruit under cloudy skies but it was not pouring rain. i'm sure she had a great time. we did see the sun break out this afternoon. so now, temperatures have warmed up a bit. philadelphia coming in at 69 degrees now. pennsylvania's suburbs 63. south jersey, 68. and along the shore, not too bad either with drier conditions. today in the low 60s. mid-50s in atlantic city. but with your neighborhood weather you can see the big temperature difference. wood bin 68. cape may point 60. 62 upper township. 56 in atlantic city. 66 in mays landing. cooler along the water in atlantic city. for the most part, most of the area in the 60s. radar now, we have rain up towards the north and west across the lehigh valley, upper montgomery, bucks county. most of this is fairly light but it is pretty steady, near

franconia, pottstown, 476 into the lehigh valley near allentown, 78. we'll watch the rain as we go through the next few hours. i think it will start to move out but we can't rule out overnight light showers. now looking at closer parts of upper bucks county, montgomery county, you see it across 476. steady light rain isn't for everybody. ing looking at dry conditions. now off to the west. we only see dry conditions. over the past several days we look off to the west and we see rain heading our way. but that shows you that we're going to be set up with more sunshine as we go into tomorrow. and even more sunshine as we go into friday. so, here's a look at future weather that rain could hang around as we go overflight tonight. fairly light. by tomorrow morning, drying conditions through the afternoon, a lot more in the way of sunshine. passing clouds around. but then we go into friday, even better. so we just keep improving each

record number of travelers expected to fly to summer vacation destinations. group airlines for america predicts more than 231 million passengers will fly between june and august this year. that's up 4% from last year. groups calling on the tsa to hire and train more staffers to alleviate screening delays at checkpoints. u.s. air carriers say long lines and delays, not their problem. they turned down the latest federal request to temporarily drop checked baggage fees to reduce the number of carry-ones. homeland security says baggage screening slows the process but the airlines say tsa should focus on better staffing and screening equipment. as people in our area get ready for their trips, we wanted to find out if tsa problems are playing out in philadelphia
