help. >> i have my grandchildren riding their bikes through there, and worries me. >> reporter: residents are shaken. after a 30-year-old woman manages to break free from a horrifying ordeal. police say she never saw the attacker approach, coming out of the woods from behind her. >> an unknown male graped her, attempted to sexual assault her, threw her to the ground. she fought him off. >> reporter: fought hard and rap to the car, frightened and alone without a cell phone and without an immediate call to 911, the suspect got a head start. >> he's gone. they didn't get him. by the time she got here, calmed down enough to find someone to call us, there was between a ten and 40 minute delay. >> reporter: dozens of police from five downs, dogs, and a police chopper responded immediately. it was carefully canvassed. >> it's thick woods, he could be hiding under a log there.

>> incredible turnout. that does your heart good, and hopefully they'll catch him. >> that terrifies me. i was more worried about my child coming here to play, and now i got to think twice about it. >> reporter: they arrived in the park not realizing all the commotion, and she runs the same trail two to three times a week. >> we go right back there. go straight -- yeah, that's where it happened, so scary. >> be aware, don't be caught up with the headphones are, not knowing where you are. >> reporter: the assault happened 200 yards deep into the woods on the trail, but not very far from the jungle gym and the rest of the park where kids play. police told me may found the woman's cell phone and a knife and a tent in the woods. they are considering some of that evidence, but they don't know yet whether or not it is tied directly to this suspect. live in berlin tonight, nbc 10

news. large crowds waited hours in line to be part of the rally. >> an event to help governor chris christie. >> a live look outside there in lawrenceville. protesters lining up outside the event as we look what's going on inside as well. >> thousands of people paid $200 to get into this event. all of the money will go to help governor chris christie pay off his $250,000 campaign debt incured running for president. drew smith is live now from inside that event. we can see behind you a lot of people are already gathered there, drew. >> reporter: yeah. a lot of people are in here excited to see trump speak expected in an hour. up on stage with him is governor chris christie, one of trump's biggest supporters, and you can bet he's happy that presumptive nominee is here to help him out. donald trump in town means good business for the people selling

these t-shirts and hats. >> i support trump a hundred percent. >> reporter: supporters lining up early outside the armory to get a good seat, some of the first people who paid to see the candidate this campaign season. >> we're paying for the ticket for chris christie's presidential run to pay his debt, i guess, and you know what, i don't care. >> reporter: some of the people here worked at trump casinos in atlantic city. >> so excited, really exciting. >> reporter: anna is not excited to see governor christie. >> i have mixed e emotions on him. >> reporter: people gathered on the other side of the street speaking more plainly about distaste for both trump and christie. >> i think he should get out of our town because we don't want him here. >> we don't support christie either. they are very similar, and i'd like to get rid of both of them. >> reporter: police are worried about hours of protests while others say this fundraidser helps unify the party. >> a lot of good people around him and builds a good cabinet,

this country will be okay. >> reporter: protests continue, but across the street. they are far away from this building, and because these people paid more than $200 to get in here, we're not expecting the usual amount of outbursts you expect at a trump rally. drew smith, nbc 10 news. hillary clinton did not have any public offense today, but that's not stopping her from making news. she said it's up to bernie sanders to unify the party. today, the front runner for the presidential nomination said, quote, i will be the nominee for my party. that is already done in effect. there's no way that i won't be. clinton could face more than 40 protests. the city granted permission to several more groups who plan to make voices heard outside the democratic national convention this summer. the largest group, march for bernie at dnc plans a rally at fdr park starting the day before the convention expecting 30,000 people there, and four other

groups have permission to protest. the convention in philadelphia begins on july 25 and runs through the 28th rkts the event takes place at the wells fargo center right there. now to new information in the search for an egypt jetliner that may have been brought down by terrorists over the mediterranean sea. late this afternoon, authorities confirmed that debris found in the water does not belong to the missing plane. the egyptair flight disappeared last night on the way to paris to cairo. debris found if the sea off the greek island, but, again, authorities now say it's not from the missing plane. egyptair flight 804 disappears from radar after authorities describe a serious of extremely abrupt turns with 66 people aboard. family members of passengers gathered in paris where the plane departed. egyptian officials raise the responsibility of a terrorist attack, and the white house says it's too early to say with certainty just what brought the

plane down. >> it's too early to definiti definitively say what may have caused this disaster. the invest is underway. investigators will consider all of the potential factors that could have contributed to the crash. >> we have teams in place from paris to cairo for full coverage. the latest on "nbc nightly news" coming up at 6:30 tonight. to the latest in the federal corruption trial of congressman fattah. a key witness for the prosecutioned today how he brokered an illegal campaign loan for the long time congressman. thomas is facing a maximum 20 year sentence behind bars for his role in the scheme. he says he spent months to get the congressman to settle up his bills after fattah lost the 2007 bid for mayor. fattah's attorneys says he's a convicted felon and got a better

deal for testifying against the congressman. gunfire in grays pferry, a man shot and killed on dickinson street, found inside a car and died a short time later. two bullets into the window, and several shell casings on the ground. right now, there's no arrests. a reading police officer surrendered on charges he punched a woman in the face and broke her cell phone. we told you about this officer yesterday, officer de jesus faces evidence tampering charges. they say this video shows him punching the woman and throwing the phone on the ground after a traffic stop. the department placed officer de jesus on leave. the lawyer says the video does not tell the whole story. for weeks, vultures have been lurking in one west philadelphia neighborhood eating trash and scarring residents too because of a delap at a timed

home here on north 50th street abandon for decades. after months of complaining, it's coming down. we were there as crews began the demolition. it's a welcomed sight for neighbors who say the vultures were the last straw after the home attracted raccoons, rats issue and other critters. >> you walk in the house, you can hear the vultures, the noise, the scratching. and then after they are in there for a while, you can hear the debris falling from the house because they are so heavy. >> we checked property records and found taxes have not been paid on the property since 1997. demolition will continue tomorrow. breaking news, a house fire on edge of camden, and you can see the smoke left over. they extinguished the flames a short while ago. no word on the cause of the fire or any injuries at this point.

again, house fire in camden county new jersey that's just been put out. we'll keep you updated. terminally ill patients may soon use medical marijuana in delaware. state lawmakers introduced a bill to expand the use of medical marijuana to patients with terminal illnesses. the bill is named bob's bill. it is named after bob jest dying from terminal lung cancer this year. he used medical marijuana, and when the doctor found out, he threatened to stop his cancer treatments. so bob stopped using it and passed away. that bill is now headed to the house health and human development committee for a vote. new at 6:00, victims of the gay bashing attack nearly two years ago are suing the three people who were criminally charged in the case. knox, williams, and harington are seeking compensation for medical expenses.

they suffered bruises and broken noses when arrested. williams took guilty plea, and knox is serving a five to ten month sentence after a jury convictsed her in december. you'll soon start seeing going out of business signs on the neighborhood sports authority because the retailer's closing all 450 stores across the country. the chain filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection a few months ago. a competition underway because of the national convention for the american stutd of architects in philadelphia right now. over next two days, the public gets to explore two dozen parks by local designers and choose their favorite. today, exhibits were set on art street near 12th street. have to go take a look. >> colorful. next at 6:00, parking urn the bridge, why it gets easier to find a spot in old city.

i want to go back to the house fire we told you about, breaking news in camden. look here, this is not yet completely out. in fact, we are told it spread to another house. this is at 26 and cramer, you see strong flames there from within the building, and thick black is rising into the air again. we're told the house fire spread to a second billing now, so we're watching this for you in camden. now new at 6:00, parking your car under the ben franklin bridge may be an option. last night, the port authority board approved a plan to make ag parking lot under the bridge in old city. there will be 170 monthly spots open the drpa says the new law could open this fall. the number 2 an and #gmoneystrong, people old up support for a delaware child seriously injured by an alleged

lee, burkes county. we love the 70s because they've been so rare. leesport at 72. easton and bethlehem at 70 degrees. well, it's going to be higher temperatures than that tomorrow. yeah. the sun and the 70s returned. not for long. 76 tomorrow. then we go way down. especially on saturday. the weekend goes downhill in general because not only is temperatures going down, but the rain is going to be coming down, and that is on saturday. there's the futurecast at 6:30 morning, light rain from the southwest, and this is one of the situations where the further south you go, the heavier the rain is going to be, the more hours of rain you're going to get, and the coldest it's going to be. the further north you are, thor chance of rain, less rain, and not as cold.

as we go through the day, you can see this is hour after hour after hour of that. it includes around baltimore where they are having a run, going to be a run with a muddy track. there's saturday night. this system goes overshore and tries to spin moisture back. this latest model that's just in a little while ago showing less rain on sunday than previous models have. sunday certainly looks better than saturday overall, but friday beats everything. we got nothing on the radar close by, buts are going to be changing. here's some of the clouds. there's the rain coming into louisiana and arkansas, and as we go through the day tomorrow, we're going to see a lot of sunshine across the area, bethlehem at 76, phoenixville at 75. mou uniform temperatures in the area other than the shore where we're going to be seeing some those temperatures in the mid-60s.
