today. >> chilly right now. the skies are clear, the temperatures areal xooing down. it's completely dry, dry view of the boardwalk at wildwood. the temperatures are still falling. it's now down into the 40s right at the boardwalk and in the suburbs, the temperatures have dropped into the 40s and low 50s. we'll see sunshine today and a nice warmup. here's your hour by hour forecast. 56 degrees to start with in philadelphia. 70 at 11:00. then into the middle to upper 70s this afternoon. look at the sunshine for the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley, into the south delaware and south jersey, even at the shore, plenty of sunshine, near 70 degrees at the shore and into the 70s for the rest of the area. if you notice the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, there are big changes ahead. take a look at the rain that's coming in when i'm back in ten minutes. first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington standing by with a look at your friday morning. >> we're watching the vine street expressway if you typically head through center city at this time. you'll notice that the vine is

closed with ongoing construction east and westbound. no closures right now. this is around 24th street. no problems heading to the schuylkill or 95 so far for the morning. if you're watching the actual schuylkill expressway, there's construction around the blue route headed eastbound. expect lane closures, all week we've had the right lane closed, now the left lane is closed. 13 minutes from the blue route to the vine street expressway. speeds in the 50s. there's a tractor-trailer accident closing york road, 263, between bristol road and meyer road. happening today, grief counselors will be meeting with students and staff from the howard high school of technology in wilmington. a student was shot and killed last night. it's the second tragedy for the school community. katy zachry live in wilmington to explain. katy? >> reporter: tracy, that's right. tragedy struck twice here for students at howard high school of technology. behind me, yesterday a ninth grade boy was killed during

after-school hours just a few blocks away from where we're standing. here's cell phone video of police responding to the scene. this was taken from a nearby state office building. the scene is in downtown wilmington. we've learned a ninth grade boy was shot in the head on the 900 block of clifford brown walkway. he attended howard high school of technology. the same school you'll remember where a 16-year-old girl was killed in a school bathroom fight last month. almost exactly a month to the day that this happened. now, from the principal's statement on the school website, we've learned that the student was taken to christiana high school after the shooting where he later died. counselors will be at the school to speak with students who will no doubt be affected by this latest tragedy, especially after just weeks ago they were struck with a student being killed inside the school. we'll have another live update coming up in the next half hour. we're also reaching out to the

school in hopes when it opens later this morning we'll get more answers to what happened here. reporting live outside howard high school of technology in wilmington, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. four minutes past 4:00 right now. 57 degrees outside. new from overnight, an nbc 10 viewer sent us this video of a car fire on i-95 in south philadelphia. the car was driving southbound when it collided with another vehicle and hit the guardrail around 11:30 last night. medics took one person to the hospital with minor injuries. a man jumped from a second floor window to escape the flames of this house fire in camden. this fire broke out just before 6:00 last nature at 26th and kramer street. medics took the man and two other squatters in the home to the hospital along with a firefighter who suffered minor beens. all of the injured are expected to be okay. no word on what caused that fire. no to a developing story. the sun is up over the mediterranean. ships and planes are back searching the area where it's

believed anç egyptair jet crasd yesterday morning. here's the latest. the plane with 66 people on board was headed from paris to cairo when it vanished from radar. u.s. intelligence officials tell nbc news data suggests there was some sort of explosion aboard flight 804. egypt is calling it possible terrorism. so far, there is no confirmed wreckage and no credible claim of responsibility. in decision 2016. presidential hopefuls hillary clinton and donald trump are addressing the possible terror aspect of the egyptair crash. trump tweeted his belief that terrorists blew the plane out of the sky and clinton said the crash shines a bright light on threats from organized terror groups. in mercer county, donald trump repaid a political favor to new jersey governor chris christie by appearing at a fund-raiser. ♪ >> the presumptive republican nominee joined christie on stage

of certain chemicals in their water can pick up the bottled water at the horsham community center today and tomorrow. they can get up to two cases of water today. public meetings about the contamination are scheduled for next week. history will be made along the schuylkill river. the 90th annual stotesbury cup regatta starts today. >> time trials start at 8:00 this morning. it's a big event on the schuylkill river. very quiet. we don't see people showing up. telly drive, it is shut down as we are expecting some of the rowers to show up in the next couple of hours. take a look at video from last year's event. this is an annual event on the schuylkill river. stotesbury cup regatta, 5,000 competitors and 10,000 spectators are estimated to be coming for the events happening

philadelphia. that rain will continue into sunday. 48 degrees for the suburbs, lehigh valley is at 47. 40s now in delaware and while it's 57 at the airport, most of the rest of philadelphia is in the low 50s and at the shore, 49 degrees. there are cooler spots inland, may's landing is down to 44. woodbine is at 48 degrees this morning. this is a starting point. we'll see a good warmup. even at the shore the temperatures will be warming into the 70s this afternoon. completely dry during the day today. no sign of any clouds this morning. we'll see plenty of sunshine. a nice warmup this afternoon for the lehigh valley, sunshine, bethlehem and easton into the middle 70s today. we're looking at 76 in west chester, phoenixville, plenty of sunshine and bright, sunny skies for newtown. a big warmup for philadelphia. 78 degrees this afternoon. a little cooler for mt. airy. sunshine will be bright in new jersey. a few scattered thin clouds. nothing more than that. at the shore, yes, a nice warmup into the 70s for galloway and

4:14. 57 degrees outside. from our delaware bureau, today, volunteers and tennis pros will turn downtown wilmington into a tennis mecca for the city's youth. the city and the u.s. professional tennis association are teaming up for the tennis in the streets event. it starts this morning at rodney square. the annual event brings in hundreds of kids from local schools for free tennis lessons. and we end up setting up about ten portable nets on north market street in wilmington, delaware, right at rodney square in front of the due upon the. we invite hundreds of kids. this year over 800 kids are going to be coming. >> 800 kids, more than 70 volunteers including 30 tennis pros will participate. l program will follow up with kids who show exceptional ability and offer them scholarships to a local tennis program. today president obama will meet with top public health officials to get a briefing on the zika virus. health experts will update the president on the response to the

disease, along with ongoing work on vaccine research and kits to diagnose zika. the world health organization says the zika virus is linked to severe birth defects, neurological disorders and brain and spinal cord infections. scientists at rutgers are involved in the search for a cure. they're part of a computer project that screens current drugs and millions of drug-like compounds against models of zika protein structures. the compounds that show the most promise will then be tested in lab settings. rutgers will share results of this computer analysis with the research community and the public. in new york city, more than a dozen people, including two jailhouse guards, are under arrest in a contraband sting. the arrest follows the relation of people smuggling illegal items into rutgers in the bronx. authorities who anunesed the arrests yesterday focused on the

apparent mastermind. >> the allege d, kevin mccoin, dishonored civil servants by allegedly taking $10,000 in bribes. >> if convicted he and the others could face up to seven years in prison. well, postal officials want your help to prevent dog attacks on letter carriers after there were 44 attacks in philadelphia last year. the city ranks seventh in the nation when it comes to dogs biting postal workers. as part of national dog bite prevention week, philadelphia's postmasters are talking about the related risks. she says dogs can be protective and can view letter carriers handing mail to the owner as a threat. >> we want to educate customers on how they can keep employees safe. a couple of things is keeping

today. no sign of any clouds this morning. we'll be in the clear and a quick warmup, well into the 70s this afternoon. that sunshine, though, will fade for tomorrow as clouds that are building to our southwest are going to be moving in. this was in texas yesterday. texas has cleared out nicely. the heavy rain is moving through the deep south. look at the showers moving into the midwest. it's part of the system that is going to be coming into our area. not today. futurecast, nice, clear skies. sunshine will be bright as we go into the lunch time hour. this is noontime today. plenty of sunshine for philadelphia and wilmington. then into the afternoon, this is when we'll see afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s. 5:00 today. nothing more than a few scattered, thin clouds. tonight, the clouds, you can see them building to the west and late tonight we'll see high clouds arrive. there's the rain. that's first thing saturday morning. that's rain that's heading our way during the day tomorrow. so stand by for big changes on
