now your nbc10 first alert weather. >> well, this is a day we have all been waiting for. fantastic friday on tap. sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures. it will be a perfect night for baseball. as we take a live look right now outside citizens bank park. that's where the phillies will begin a weekend series against the braves who recently fired their manager. and the nation's largest high school regatta is going on now. a live look, great weather as we're looking just from kelly drive. these rowers are on the schuylkill river for the regatta. but enjoy it while it lasts. first alert meteorologist bill henley is here with our

forecast. bill. >> vai, it would be great if this lasted all weekend long, but it is snot going to. plenty of sunshine, looking up the schuylkill river, you can see some of the boats in the distance. nothing but sunshine today and a really nice warmup. in fact, we're way past the morning low temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. 68 degrees in the suburbs. delaware at 71, also in south jersey at 71 degrees. south philadelphia is 70 degrees. look at chestnut hill at 70. a beautiful day today. but big changes are on the way. and you can see them moving towards the ohio valley. this is the futurecast, and it shows that by midnight tonight, that rain that's moving through the ohio valley and into southwestern pennsylvania, that's on our way for tomorrow. the rain will start in the morning. first thing in the morning, we may start off dry, but clouds will be here. sunshine long gone, and here comes the possibility of rain as the day goes on. we could see some heavy downpours at times. that's at 6:00 tomorrow evening, and there are more showers in

avenue, between lancaster and 63rd street. the right lane is closed and causing delays there. you caught the end of that, the regatta on kelly drive. that's closed between fountain green and strawberry mansion drive. you can take the schuylkill expressway as an alternative. westbound might not be a good thing. ongoing construction taking out some lanes. vai. >> jesse, thank you. time for a check on the roads. actually, we're going to move on. counselors are providing help to students at a new castle county high school one day after a student was shot and killed. the second death in the student body in the past few weeks. nbc10's bureau reporter tim furlong is live for us with an update. just so tragic. >> unbelievable. a month after the day amy joyner-francis died, it is tragic. neighbors have given us a lot of information about the 15-year-old killed just after school a few blocks from here. police say they'll formally

identify him shortly. it happened yesterday at around 3:15, a few block sas from howa technical high school. one month ago tomorrow, amy joyner-francis was killed in a bathroom. once again, students return to school to be greeted by a mourning principal and grief counsellors. i spoke with a woman who heard the gunshots, rushed to the scene and saw it was her friend's son. she and so many say enough is enough. >> they turned him over and it was literally a child. you know what i'm saying? it's too much. it's just too much going on on the streets. >> come back live. the school district spokesperson has not returned my call. i asked police if they have anyone in custody, if they have developed a motive, if they have any indication this is gang related or any way connected to amy's death. i continue to ask the questions. i have not gotten the answers. i'm going to keep pushing and as soon as i get the answers, you'll get the answers. live in wilmington, tim furlong,

nbc10 news. >> tim, thank you. sky force 10 over a fire in an apartment complex in philadelphia's somerton neighborhood this morning. you can see firefighters going in and out of that forest glen condominiums. we're told medics were on the scene treating neighbors there. no one needed to be taken to a hospital. no word on how many apartments were damaged or what caused the fire. >> and this morning, a man who attacked a jogger in camden county is still on the loose. police say a woman was jogging in berlin borough yesterday morning when a man grabbed her from behind and tried to sexually assault her. she managed to break free and ran to lock herself in her car. she alerted another jogger who dialed 911 for help. unfortunately, she wasn't able to get a good description of the attacker and he got away. >> despite the attempted assault, the sixth annual scholarship run to fight cancer went on as planned.

at the park last night. this is cell phone video of the nearly 500 runners and walkers who participated in the event. officials say they won't live in fear. and new video shows a crime in progress at a west philadelphia drugstore. an employee at the cvs noticed the man putting merchandise inside a black bag. you see him there in the aisle. the worker confronted the man. the suspect pulled out a gun. the worker backed off, and the suspect fled. if you happen to recognize the suspect, you're asked to call police. >> and wildlife officials in new castle county will be on the lookout after another bear sighting in the area. he was spotted in newark around 1:00 yesterday afternoon. a worker with the city took video of the animal with a cell phone. and sky force 10 was over the scene shortly after the sighting. police and wildlife officials were in the area, but they weren't able to track down the bear. this is the latest in the slew of recent bear sightings here in

just within the last half hour, an egyptair official says searchers have found more wreckage believed to be from missing flight 804. that official said luggage, passenger seats, and body parts were all recovered in the mediterranean. not yet known what brought down the plane, but terrorism has been cited as a potential cause of the crash. bill neely reports from cairo. >> it's still a search and rescue operation. the search is intense, but rescue seems a long shot. no sign of life. no clear clues as to what made flight 804 fall from the sky. it didn't just fall. it veered to the left and then spiraled more than 20,000 feet before plunging into the sea off egypt. one egyptian minister suggesting a bomb as the most likely cause. but u.s. intelligence officials now tell reuters a review of

satellite imagery has shown no evidence of an explosion. the terror group isis is active in egypt, and last year brought down a russian passenger plane here with 224 onboard. bo bombed, it claimed, with explosives in a soda can. u.s. officials say none of the plane's passengers was on a terror watch list. officials in paris are checking security at the airport from where the plane left. a u.s. search plane is part of a growing fleet, scouring a sea almost a mile deep for any debris. but so far, none confirmed from the missing plane. >> well, the debris the egyptians have spotted now has to be recovered and brought here to cairo airport to be examined. there is still no proof that this was a bomb. and there has been no claim from isis. remember, they boasted of taking down that metrojet seven months

ago very quickly. this remained a tragedy without explanation. back to you. >> bill neely reporting from cairo, egypt. >> the last known surviving terror suspect allegedly involved in november's paris attacks refused to tuck in questioning today in a paris salah abdeslam's attorney said he invoked his right to silence. today's court session ended abruptly because of the refusal to stop. abdulaum had said he wanted to explain everything. it was unclear why the suspect changed his mind. today was the first time abdeslam was questioned since his extradition from belgium last month. >> the terror spree in paris left 130 dead. isis claimed responsibility for the attacks. the state of emergency remains in effect in france. in mercer county, donald trump repaid a political favor to chris christie by appearing at a fund-raiser.

the presumptive nominee joined christie on stage. he started supporting trump after ending his own presidential bid. trump showed up to help christie pay off debt from the campaign. people paid more than $200 to get in. >> he's a great guy, and he's a great governor. he's been my friend a long time, done a great job. >> america needs strong leadership again both here at home and around the world, and i'm confident that leadership can be provided by just one man, donald trump. >> hundreds of anti-trump protesters pushed past a police barricade as the candidate arrived for the event. no one was hurt. >> trump and another presidential hopeful, hillary clinton, are addressing the possible terror aspect of the egyptair crash. the candidates are sounding different tones on the possibility that foul play brought down the plane. today on msnbc's morning joe, trump continued to insist the

plane was definitely brought down by terrorists and he put the blame on isis. >> they knocked the hell out of isis, which we could have done originally. we shouldn't have been in iraq. bad decision. then the way obama got us out was a horrible decision. the way we came out. >> it does appear that it was an act of terrorism. once again, shines a very bright light on the threats that we face from organized terror groups. >> yesterday, trump tweeted the question, when will we get tough, smart, and vigilant? today, president obama will meet with top public health officials to get a briefing on the zika virus. health experts will update the president on the response to the disease along with ongoing work on vaccine research and kits to diagnose zika. the world health organization says the zika virus is linked to severe birth defects, neurological disorders and brain and spinal cord infections. meanwhile, the centers for disease control announced it's

changing the way it reports the number of pregnant women affected by zika virus to gain a more complete picture of the virus' impact. >> and heavy rains and powerful winds ripped through parts of southern mississippi. video captured these images of a storm moving through the city of ocean springs. this is just northeast of biloxi. there are reports of minor damage, but no injuries. and the storm system hit parts of southern louisiana. camera here capturing the heavy rain and powerful lightning strikes 15 miles east of baton rouge. again, no one was hurt there. unfortunately, weaver got some of the rain on the way for the weekend. it's going to mess with outdoor activities, including the radnor hunt at noon time. 58 degrees. look how cool as we head to the afternoon. steady rain at times and a possibility of heavy downpours for tomorrow. for today, we've got a beautiful

friday. in fact, temperatures are climbing. quick warmup, and look at this. not even memorial day yet. people are hitting the beach and enjoying that sunshine, and really seeing the temperatures take off. at the shore, some numbers are already in the 70s. look at upper township, 73 in cape may. summers point is 70 degrees. right along the coast at 65 in atlantic city and came may point at 65. but sunshine and a light wind really making for a beautiful afternoon. temperatures climbing in to the 70s inland. in fact, we're on track for upper 70s. right now, in the low 70s in philadelphia. we're running 5 degrees above yesterday's number. philadelphia is not the only spot seeing sunshine today. the suburbs, bright, sunny skies. at 2:00 this afternoon, you'll start to notice high clouds later in the day, and those will be on the increase for this evening. same story for the lehigh valley. maybe a spotty cloud, but bright sunshine for the early evening hours and 10:00, some of the high clouds coming into play.

to the south, delaware, warming into the 70s. quick warmup for the jersey shore. and interior new jersey will warm into the low to mid 70s by 6:00. then this evening, the clouds are increasing. no sign of any wet weather for today. that's all going to wait for the weekend, and beyond. there, nice and clear. satellite and radar, nothing to show you this morning except what is looming to the southwest. tennessee, kentucky, into indiana, that's the system that is going to bring in the clouds to start with this evening, and then the rain tomorrow. by late this evening, that's 11:00 tonight, see the futurecast showing rain moving into the ohio valley. not yet in our area. the clouds are just hanging to the southwest. but the clouds will move in overnight tonight and we could get a dry start in the area. 9:30 in the morning, cloudy skies for trenton, philadelphia, and wilmington. you can see the first raindrops falling in central and southern delaware and into the cape may area. in fact, just a few raindrops at that hour in cape may.

this moves in during the morning hours and into the noontime hours. that's lunchtime tomorrow. look at the heavier downpours in delaware and south jersey. kwee could see some of the heavier showers in the philadelphia area at 6:30 tomorrow evening. and that may not be the end of the rainfall. you may have noticed with the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, right on into sunday and monday, there's still a possibility of showers. the steadiest rain and the potential for the heaviest rain will come tomorrow. so enjoy today while it's here. 78 degrees this afternoon. that rain will keep us much cooler tomorrow. but with precipitation and possibly some breaks of sunshine, sunday and monday, the temperatures both days will climb to near 70 degrees in the afternoon. then we're drying out, look at tuesday, a high of 72. after a morning low of 55 degrees, and if that's not warm enough for you, here come the 80s. starting on wednesday, 83 degrees. then more summer like for thursday and friday. 88 degrees the high temperature friday afternoon. with the higher temperatures there will come a chance of late

avenue where one man took advantage of the nice conditions. to create a little art on this friday. very nice, but changes are on the way for the weekend. nbc10 first alert meteorologist bill henley is here with the forecast. >> we have been talking about the rain, but that's not the only thing changing. the temperatures in the 70s right now will get nowhere near that tomorrow. look at philadelphia with sunny skies at 70 degrees right now. we will warm up to 72 at 1:00. by 4:00, 76 degrees. we could get closer to 80 in between these hours today. with nothing but sunshine. the temperatures will be climbing across the board for today with sunny skies. but the rain coming in for tomorrow will keep us in the 50s to very low 60s tomorrow afternoon. that's the rain to the southwest. you can see it in kentucky and tennessee. it's got a long ways to go before it gets to us. the heaviest storms are pushing through mississippi, alabama, and into georgia right now. we'll get some steady rain for much of the day and possibly

university is celebrating the life of its seventh president, here's a live look at the public memorial at temple performing arts center in north philadelphia. former temple men's basketball coach john chaney is at the podium speaking right now. he passed away last week at the age of 85. he was president of the college from 1982 to 2000 when he retir retired. the university's main arena was renamed in his honor. >> we continue to follow new developments in the search for egyptair flight 804 that disappeared and crashed into the mediterranean sea. here's the latest. an egyptair official says more wreckage of the plane has been found, including body parts, luggage, and passenger seats. a european space agency says satellites have spotted a possible oil slick near the crash site. european security officials report there were no known

terror suspects on the plane. 66 people were onboard the plane. >> and there's still more questions than answers about the disappearance and the crash, but there are a growing number of new clues that tell us what might have happened in the final moments. here's aviation correspondent tom costello. >> this morning, investigators are zeroing in on egyptair 804's final 24 hours. it made five strips in the day before it vanished over the mediterranean, landing at airports in cairo, tunas, and paris. investigators are now combing through records to see who had access to the plane. including maintenance crews, caterers and baggage handlers, all under a magnifying glass of interviews and background checks. >> so far at least, we have no claim of responsibility or evidence that this was an intentional act. but the fbi, as you would expect, is working with our partners around the world to try to gain a better understanding of what happened. >> today, a major question. did a so-called back door exist

for someone to plant a bomb on the plane? intelligence officials tell nbc news that early data suggests some sort of explosion onboard. >> they're also going to look for the patterns in the metal to see if any of it was splayed out and is there residue on the metal. >> so far, it's only a leading theory and far from fact, though it's happened before. in february, a suicide bomber blew a hole in an a-320 over somalia. security video shows airport workers handing him a laptop inside the airport. and last october, isis released this picture of a purported soda can bomb. it says brought down a russian metrojet plane over the sinai peninsula. >> it's rare at least in the case of isis for them to take more than 12 hours to issue an initial claim of responsibility for a major international act of terrorism. it's a rarity. that does not it never happens. >> another key piece of evidence, investigators will want to get their hands on, the

plane's black boxes. inside, recorded conversations between crew and any alarms or sounds of explosions. clues like plane performance data that could piece together this mystery. this morning, los angeles international airport has stepped up security. as airports across the world confront yet another blow to aviation safety. that was tom costello reporting. well, police officers in florida stopped two robbery suspects who were trying to get away at a speed. it was all caught on camera. take a look at this. the pair was sued of ripping off a cell phone store in central florida. an officer later spotted their small suv, speeding down i-95 and a long chase ensued. dashcam video cameras show an officer was able to stop the suv, using a p.i.t. maneuver. authorities charged the two men with robbery and fleeing and eluding police. and security video captures

images of a smash and grab burglary at pizza shop. it shows a burglar throwing a rock through a glass door and running inside. once inside, the suspect grabs the cash register and ran out the same way he came in. that was the last in a string of burglaries in the same area on the sail right. three other restaurants on the same were also targeted. and happening today, wawa welcome america will officially announce details about this summer's festival between june 27th and july 4th, there will be 350 performers and fun for the entire family. we got a sneak peek from wawa welcome america president and ceo. he tells us there will be five hours of nonstop music starting earlier at 5:00, on july 4th, a high energy celebration, and every performer this year will have ties to philadelphia. there will be tributes to phillies' kenny gamble and leon

for living green foundation. maureen, thank you very much for being here. tell us about your organization and the services that it provides. >> so, living green foundation is its in 50th year. we're celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. we provide addiction treatment to more than 4,000 patients, and their families every year. we provide a continuum of care so from detox in-patient to outpatient and intensive outpatient. and we also have community groups and seminars for people who are not in treatment and for their families. >> now, you also have a personal connection here because you suffered through addiction and then went through recovery and you're open about it. can you tell us about your experience? >> sure, so i have nine years clean and sober. >> good for you. >> yeah, and i came into recovery as a college student. so you know, you hear all over that recently the face of addiction has been changing.

and i was a college junior, and you know, i was a journalism major at temple university, and i didn't think it could happen to me. you know, and i ended up in rehab at age 21. and luckily, it saved my life. i have been in 12-step program since then. >> did the process start for you, the addiction, did it start for you in college and not high school, didn't start until college? >> you know, i dabbled with drinking at parties in high school, but it didn't really take off until college. >> nine years. we're so happy for you. tell us about this year's ride for recovery. what's in store? >> we not only have the motorcycle run, which goes on in the morning. we also have kids games, we have music, food, all these different kinds of activities for people. and one of the great things about the ride for recovery is it takes place on our residential campus so patients can participate as well and interact with people who have long-term recovery to give them

hope for their future. >> you guys have taken 12 years, has it grown every year? >> absolutely. we're up to 1,000, attendees. we're hoping to continue to grow that number, as the years progress, and we last year raised $110,000 for our patient programs, and patient scholarships, and we're hoping to increase that this year. >> what's the demographic of people who come? not only people who have recovered like you, those still struggling with it, family who some to support? >> all of the above. it's great. a great way to show that you can have in recovery and you can -- there's people who come, a group of motorcycle riders that have 25 years of recovery, who come every year and they bring new guys with them. to show them that you can have fun recovery, and there is hope. >> or maybe you never had any experience but you have a bike and you want to join. >> exactly. anyone can come. >> fantastic. we're so proud of you for your recovery and how great you look

makeover for food nutrition labels. taking a live look right now from the partnership for a healthier america summit in washington, d.c. expecting mrs. obama to show up any moment. the new labels are part of the first lady's let's move campaign against childhood obesity. and the new labels will highlight calories and they'll be listed in a bigger, bolder type. they'll also be a new line for add ed sugars. serving sizes will be updated to make them more realistic. a small bag of chips will no longer count as multiple servings. this is the first major up since labels were created back in 1994. >> although it's not exactly hot this week, when the warmer weather hits, it can lead to a surge in the number of women dealing with foot pain. britney finds out the main culprits that cause your feet to take a beating. >> this is going to put a lot of pressure on the heel. >> blame it on the hottest

styles of summer or wanting your feet to breathe, but shoes like this land lots of ladies on this exam table, says dr. tyson green. >> in the summer months, we get people who wear flat sandals with zero arch or no heel which can be just as bad as no heel. >> the flimsy flip-flop, strappy sandals and infamous wobbly wedges all can result in pain that strips away that summer glow. >> plantar fasciitis or pain in the bottom of the heel can lead to pain in the ball of the foot, stress fractures. there's all different ways. >> he says to put your best foot forward, always look for arch support. >> the number one priority for me would be to take that pressure and reit elsewhere. whether it's taking the pressure off the forefoot and putting it more in the arch, same with the heel, bringing it to the arch area so we don't put added area. >> and the cushionless flats,

and south jersey. then during the evening hours from 5:00 in the evening until 11:00, really ramps up. v vorhe's topping half an inch in philadelphia and wilmington. sunday morning, 7:00 sunday morning, philadelphia could see heavy downpours overnight into sunday morning. wind up with more than an inch of rain. still a possibility of showers in the morning hours, 11:30 in the morning, but look how it's drying out north and west. we'll see a drier afternoon tomorrow than what we will get -- drier afternoon on sunday than what we'll get tomorrow. so tomorrow, the clouds moving in, 61 degrees at 11:00. but look at the rain bringing things down for the 9th street italian market festival. steady rainfall into the evening hours, and clouds will be here to start with on sunday. we'll see showers in the morning, by 11:00, 63 degrees. mostly just cloudy, and may be
