much can a school take? it's wide regarded for unique offerings in curriculum, and, really, the spring of 2016 has been brutal for them. just under one month after amy joyner fran sis died, they needed grief koups lores again. you see from the viewer video, investigators at the scene for hours, and last night, there was a notice confirming another student was murdered, this time, blocks from school and right after dismiss sal thursday. this photo of 15-year-old brandon is from the school's athletic department website, a family friend among the first to see him after he was shot thursday. >> i seep who he was in the face, and they said, it was brandon. >> reporter: police are not saying much about the investigation or what led to th shooting. they do not have anyone in custody, and school officials are not saying much either. candles are lit for brandon, they open the violent stops.

they don't seem to think it will. >> absolutely there's gangs, problem is the gangs are not 27, 22 no more, but they are babies. they are starting at 10 and 11 and 12 getting out of hand. it's gone too far. >> reporter: back live in this troubled school. the suspect took off on foot. police not offering any hints to a motive in the case, and i asked if it's connected to amy's case or if it's any way connected in the gang activity like the neighbors have speculated, and police are not ready to say any of that. as soon as we get answers, we'll bring them to you. tim furlong, nbc 10 news. this just into nbc 10, bill cosby's wife refused to answer dozens of questions in a combative deposition. that's according to a transcript released today. she was subjected to intense questioning in february from a lawyer for seven women suing her

husband. the women claim bill cosby branded them as liars after they accused him of sexually assaulting them decades ago. nbc 10 harry hairston is going through the transself-incriminate and will have more details on the questions coming up at 5:00. and atlantic county girl in critical condition after getting stuck in her parent's bed. police say the 6-year-old girl lost consciousness when she was trapped in become a mechanical bed base. the dad pried the base open a little so she could breathe, but police had to get her out. she was flown to the hospital. new information on the crash of egyptair flight 804 into the mediterranean. officials believe they found some apparent plane debris and oil slick in the sea, but the race is on to find the plane's black boxes. nbc 10 keith jones is live in the digital operations center with the latest developments,

keith? >> reporter: greece' defense minister says authorities spotted a body part, two seats r and suitcases in the search in the mediterranean today. the items found 180 miles north of the egyptian city of alexandria. this location is near where some debris was found yesterday, but authorities say that debris was not from a missing aircraft. today, investigators focused on the plane hours before it crashes, questioning everybody who had access to the plane. it landed in five airports the day before it vanished. investigators are checking and questioning all ground staff at the airport as well as maps worker, caterers, and baggage handlers. french investigators are in kay row now to help with the search, and early data suggests some sort of explosion occurred, and e egyptian authorities say a terrorist attack was more likely than a technical failure.

families of those aboard the flight are waiting for what happened before the crash after much speculation. live in the digital operations center, keith jones, nbc 10 thursday. i want to go back to the breaking news out of washington, d.c. the secret service lifted the lockdown at the white house. this is new information after the shooting near the white house, and nbc is in washington with the latest on the situation. brian? >> reporter: yeah, jim. this is a tense hour, a man, according to a witness, quoted by our sister station wrc, here in washington says a white man walked up to one of the police security check points on the southwest side of the white house complex and had a gun, just out there, and white house secret service uniform division officers saw it very quickly, approached the man, repeatedly told him to drop the weapon, and when the man did not comply, they say he was shot once in the

chest. the man has been air lifted by united states park police helicopter to a local hospital here. the d.c. fire department says at last check he's in critical condition. investigators say they do know the man's name. it's not clear how that is, but they searched the area around the white house for a vehicle. the fact that the lockdown, that the white house was put under has just been lifted would indicate that they believe that this is an isolated incident, that is it a controlled incident. we should point out that president obama at the time of this security scare was outside of the white house. he was golfing, an afternoon round of golf at the time, but authorities say it's a serious investigation, that it's just beginning. they want to know who this man was and why he brought a gun to the white house complex. jim? >> thank you. the temple university community celebrated a life of former president peter today,

and hundreds of colleagues, friends, and family filled the center to say final good-byes, speaker included former men's basketball coach, john cheney, remembering him for a strong bond with students insisting they call him business his first name. he passed last week at the age of 85. he was president from 1982-2000. when he retired. the university's main arena was renamed in his honor. people in parts of montgomery county can get bottled water curtesy of the epa. there was harmful compounds in public water and private wells near the former willow grove naval station. residents that have levels of chemicals in the water, can get two cases of water at the community center until 6:00 p.m. iconic south jersey landmark

nearly destroyed by fire, but today the columbus farmer's market on route 206 is open for business. grand reopening is set for tomorrow, but today the market is open offering specials as a thank you to customers who offered support in the recovery process. back in november of 014, fire ripped through the retail space, destroying several businesses there, and the market reopened eight days later and construction on the fire damaged area began last summer. >> a fire? summerton this morning. emergency crews treated some residents, but no one was seriously hurt. we're working to learn what caused the fire. a philadelphia man is accused of trying to lure who he thought was a little girl, but was actually a police officer. investigators say ryan posted an online ad saying he had a thing

for young girl, and an officer with the police department talked him into pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. the suspect arrested wednesday when he came to a sonic restaurant to meet the girl. police warn you to be weiry of anyone claiming tor a utility worker. this man is charged with pretending to be a worker to pull off a distraction style burglarly on wednesday. police say he offered to sell a 77-year-old woman discounted utilities and then stole some of her blelongings inside her home. he ran when she confronted him. new video of a thief shoplifting. you see the man walk into the west philadelphia store last sunday and there he was in aisle 18 trying to discreetly put item in the black draw string bag. an employee tried to stop him, and he pulled out a gun, and he backed away, and the suspect ran

off. >> medical students added m.d. to their names today. ♪ they are among hundreds of other students graduating with advanced medical degrees in philadelphia this morning. former secretary of the department of health and human services, dr. louis sullivan, gave the commencement address. 500 graduates and doctorate students received their degrees today in chester. the outdoor commencement ceremony was held in the garden behind old main. arcade ya's class of 2016 received degrees as well today, nearly 500 undergrads picked up diplomas this morning at glenside university. and we gave you a glimpse at the top of the newscast of the regatta underway. we have a live forecast right now. weather-wise, 2 a picture

perfect day. as nbc 10 shows us, it attracts people from all over the country. this event is the pinnacle of high school rowing. >> reporter: with every pull of the ore, they are a stroke closer to the championship event. the two-day regatta attracts teams from nearly 200 high schools to the river. while the competition can be intimidating. the atmosphere is inviting. >> just having all the schools out here, everybody's cheering everybody on. very positive attitudes, and the kids love it. >> the kids get really, really excited about it. they know it's a big deal. >> it's really awesome. you have to work so hard to get here. >> the teams, we took poboats u in october, which was a huge regatta, but having it in your backyard is a good experience.

degrees, by 4:00 p.m., 59 degrees and heavy rain at that time. pennsylvania suburbs, 7:00 a.m., you're cloudy, and noon and 4:00 p.m., there's rainfall, and 8:00 p.m. it moves in, and lehigh valley, you're dry, and at noon, mostly dry, but showers move in at 4:00 p.m. delaware, you see the most rain as well as new jersey and along the shore. high temperatures only in the 50s here, so it's going to be cool and rainy, and if you are along the shore and beaches in delaware and new jersey, it's also going to be windy with that rain, so that's one thing we will watch too. going into sunday, though, it's not a complete washout all weekend. sunday is drier, but afternoon showers in the forecast still for your sunday. at least we'll see more of a break on sunday. next week, though, something to look forward to. we have 80 degree temperatures returning into the forecast, and, so far, that does look to run into your memorial day weekend, so the unofficial start

to summer as u now is looking good. here's a live look at the radar, nice and dry, clouds are around, but we're watching what's down to the west and southwest, and so it's really all this moisture that's seen. it comes together, creates an area of low pressure that slides just to the south and offshorement that's why we expect delaware and new jersey to see the brunt of the rain and wind tomorrow. your forecast for tomorrow high of 62 in bethlehem, 60 in reading with showers in the afternoon for those areas, pennsylvania, 61, 60 in newtown. and 59 with rain, if you're in new jersey, mostly the upper 50s. we'll have an east wind, joan shore wind for majority of the day, atlantic city, 55 and rainy. in delaware, mid-50s, and heaviest rain will be in delaware tomorrow. here's a look at your entire weekend forecast. saturday, especially south and east of philadelphia, and that's where we see the most rain and wind. highs on the cool side, sunday,

olney. we are live over the scene. what have you learned about this, mitch? >> reporter: yeah. we are at hovering at 11th and wagner near einstein medical center, a man in his 20s shot once taken to einstein medical center. the police officer is getting the tape ready to tape off the scene as another officer assists them. we'll watch the scene and let you know if an update when we get it. that's the latest, nbc 10 news. now, a woman in south carolina became trapped in a tanning bed. it took the crews of five fire trucks and ambulance to free her. the first responders say she is okay. >> in great britain, a palace intruder was a convicted murder. british police say dennis hennessey walked grounds for ten

washington d.c. the secret service lifted the lockdown at the white house after a shooting nearby, and for the first time, we are hearing from people there when this happened. >> keith jones is live in the digital operations center with the latest developments on this case. >> reporter: we continue to learn new information about what happened right now in washington, d.c. witnesses say a man with a gun was walking towards the white house. officials and officers there repeatedly told him to stop, but he kept going, so officers shot him. he was rushed to the hospital. he's now in critical condition. >> saw the secret service walking around him, they surrounded him, and gave him multiple chances to stop his advance. he refused. he just kept walking. gun in plain sight. >> we reiterate, president obama was not at the white house at the time. he was playing golf, but we have learned that vice president joe biden was inside. we can report he's doing fine. reporting live in the digital

puppy scams. she wired $929 to a company to purchase what she thought would be a golden retriever puppy. problem is, she never got a dog. now, there are puppy scheme, and they try to trick you into thinking that you're buying a puppy. to protect yourself, one, you should always visit the kennel in person. responsible breeders and rescue groups should be happy to offer you a tour. also, check references before committing to buying a dog. never send western union or money grams for payments. now, last, we want to tell you about a scheme that travelers should know about. it's called the fake front desk phone call. better business bureau say there's a lot in the area, and you could be targeted while you stay at a hotel. this is how it works. you get a call in the middle of the night, in the room, they wake you up with a phone call claiming to be from the front

makeover for food nutrition labels today. the labels list calories in bigger, bolder type and serving sizes will be more realistic. for example, a small bag of chips will no longer count as a multiple receivering. food manufacturers have to comply with new labels two years from today. >> staffers make a beautiful discovery in the ugliest of places. >> this is amazing. workers at the museum repairing a mug discovered a gold ring and a necklace hidden inside the mug. the jewelry stuffed in a fake double bottom probably belonged to the victim of a nazi death camp. they believe someone in poland hid the items before being sent to the concentration camp. takes your breath away. >> it does. to hear it and see it. >> beautiful thing. well, it's been beautiful out there in terms of weather too. >> getting outside, enjoy the tennis, and there was an unusual
