roosevelt boulevard. sky force 10 above the flooding. let's bring in nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen. >> jacqueline, the storms we saw today, we're pretty much finished with those. what we have right now, this is mostly just light rain moving through. if you're in mercer county around trenton, you're seeing that, burlington county, south jersey, parts of delaware. we'll zoom into mercer county, we see the light rain moving through. that's going to con to move into parts of burlington county. we don't expect thunderstorms out of all of this. it's part of the area of low pressure. it's continuing to spin offshore. we're going to watch this rain continues to move in mostly on the light side. areas in new jersey, even delaware early tomorrow morning could see some of this light rain for part of the morning commute. we have a chance of showers later tomorrow afternoon. also with your neighborhood weather, your seven-day forecast is scrolling at the bottom of the screen. we'll take a look at the shower

chance for tomorrow and memorial day weekend forecast. don't miss that coming up. now new at 11:00, a tow truck pockmarked with bullets and the driver raced to the hospital with a bullet in his chest. tonight he and his friend are recovering after someone opened fire on them. nbc 10's brandon hudson is live at temple hospital where they're being treated. brandon, police say the victims know who pulled the trigger. >> reporter: police say both men gave them the suspected shooter's nickname. they were shot about a mile and a half from this hospital. the tow truck driver was able to get here moments after being shot in the chest. and he parked his truck right at the entrance to this emergency room. an unexpected arrival at temple hospital this evening. a tow truck riddled with bullets and shattered windows. investigators checked out the truck while doctors treated the two men who were shot inside. >> turns out both of these victims were in a tow truck in the 1400 block of blavis street.

>> reporter: back here, it was quiet but the shattered glass on the ground was a reminder of what unfolded moments earlier. police tell nbc 10 just before 6:00, someone shot at the tow truck several times. the 30-year-old driver was struck in the chest. a bullet grazed the 28-year-old passenger's shoulder. a gunshot to the chest wasn't going to stop the driver from getting help. >> he still managed to drive himself and his passenger in the tow truck to temple hospital. >> reporter: police say the quick actions of the driver likely saved his life. he and his friend are expected to survive. police don't have a motive but do have the suspected shooter's nickname which they won't reveal at this time. >> the shooter is known to the victims. and he's described as a male who's wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt who was last seen in a saturn ion burgundy in color. >> reporter: police say nearby businesses with surveillance cameras, they plan to check out that video for any leads.

live at temple hospital, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. it's back to a montgomery county courtroom tomorrow for bill cosby. earlier today, pennsylvania supreme court denied an emergency stay presented by cosby's legal team. as they tried to get the case thrown out. that means cosby's preliminary hearing can go on as scheduled at 9:00 a.m. the comedian is accused of drugging and molesting a former temple university employee at his sheltonham home in 2004. a judge finds a baltimore police officer in south jersey native not guilty in the death of freddie gray. edward nero wiped away tears as he was acquitted on charges of assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office. the judge ruled nero acted as any reasonable officer would and only touched gray after he was in handcuffs. gray died last april a week after his neck was broken while riding in the back of a police van. a lawyer for the gray family says they respect the judge and

his verdict. >> he couldn't have asked for a better judge to do it. he was a local prosecutor here for many years. he was a federal prosecutor of corrupt cops for many years. and he demonstrated convincingly that he was not and would not be swayed by any element of the community's preconceived notions. >> nero is one of six officers charged in the case. he grow up in gloucester county and was a firefighter for washington township. targeting first responders is about to become a hate crime in louisiana. the blue lives matter bill is the first of its kind in the country. the bill would expand louisiana's hate crime statute beyond race and gender to include the targeting of police officers, firefighters and e.m.s. personnel. offenders could face up to five years in prison. a similar blue lives matter bill has been introduced in congress. now to a call for help. police are praising a camden

county teenager for his quick thinking after a burglar broke into his house. >> please, please, please hurry up. >> the 15-year-old called 911 from his home. he was homesick when he heard someone break in through the window so the teenager hit in a closet in the basement. >> he heard something, he was coming up and he realized he couldn't get out of the house so he immediately took shelter, concealing himself to protect himself as well as staying on the phone with our 911 dispatchers. you couldn't ask for a better job. >> police say they found one suspect hiding in an upstairs closet and another in a car outside. in decision 2016, bernie sanders says the democratic national convention here in philadelphia could get messy. the vermont senator told the "associated press" today he will condemn any and all forms of violence. but his supporters hope to see a platform that reflects the needs

summer is just days away and hundreds of swrob jobs up for jerseysy. wildwoods, maurice piers has more than 200 positions that still need to be filled. more breaking news now out of philadelphia. police are on the scene of a shooting in overbrook. sky force 10 hovering above the 7500 block of city avenue. we're told a male was shot here around 10:00 tonight. he was taken to presbyterian hospital. his condition is unknown. now to the latest on the zika concerns. we're getting new numbers showing the spread of the disease. late tonight the new jersey department of health announced 15 travel-related zika cases in the state. only two of those cases are in south jersey. there are 19 confirmed cases in pennsylvania and delaware reports a total of three cases.

now to the case of a misplaced grave stone in south philly. an nbc 10 viewer contacted us after stumbling upon this hedge stone in an alley near 9th and salter streets. he says what piqued his attention, the fact it was for an army private first class and wanted the family to know it was here. >> the first thing that went through my mind it was probably stolen. the second thing that went through my mind was maybe we should find out first before,

you know, going further. >> turns out it was a duplicate headstone that the family kept in front of their home in the italian market area. the original was placed at the grave site at holy cross cemetery in delaware county. new pat 11:00, new jersey could roll out an online registry on animal abusers. state lawmakers considering a bill that could create an animal abuse registry that's similar to a sex offender registry. list anyone convicted or held liable in an animal cruelty state. in 2014, governor christie refused to sign a similar bill. also new at 11:00, a real life chicken fight in philadelphia. a woman is fighting the city to keep the birds in her backyard. as nbc 10's denise nakano explains, this is part of a bigger movement to help feed

families. >> reporter: she keeps a handful of chickens in the backyard of her west philadelphia non-profit called one art. the only problem the chickens are illegal in philadelphia and the city let her know as much by fining her six times in the past year. hart cried foul. over the last year malika and her family racked up $1,500 in citations for having backyard chickens but fought the city and last week a judge dropped all the fines. but that did nothing to change the city's ban on barnyard animals. hart and her family including her 3-year-old daughter, nala, will tell you chickens are the best pets you could ever have. >> this is my best chicken. >> they help eat the insects that are eating up our plants. their droppings are used as fertilizer and they're amazing pets. >> eggs. >> reporter: every morning they wake up to fresh eggs, a half dozen if they're lucky. hart says chickens provide su

temperatures will be mostly in the 80s. if you're at the shore, cooler with an onshore wind developing. so far not too bad. of course, we're going to update this as we get closer as well. jacqueline? >> all right, sheena. a new study claims popular fitbit trackers are highly inaccurate. it's breathing new life into a class action lawsuit against the fitness technology company. researchers in california tested the heart rates of 43 adults with fitbit devices. they compared the results with data from an ekg machine. researchers found fitbits miscalculated heart rates by up to 20 beats per minute on average. the study was commissioned by the law firm behind the class action suit that claims fitbit devices are inaccurate. special recognition tonight for dozens of first responders who supported villanova's national championship victory celebration. radnor township police, fire and other personnel were awarded for their service tonight.
