nbc 10 breaking news. >> our breaking news this morning, a pizza delivery driver is clinging to life after being shot execution style in southwest philadelphia. hillary clinton reaches the magic number of delegates. now she is the democratic party's presumptive presidential nominee. despite beingç labeled the presumptive democratic nominee, they are urging people to get out and vote. let's get to meteorologist sheena parveen with our first alert forecast. >> good morning, tracy. yes, with your new neighborhood weather, don't forget, we have your seven-day forecast scrolling on the bottom of the

screen. today you can expect a warmer day across the area. locally we have clouds around the shore in delaware beaches. also rain just up near the poconos. for today, i think we'll stay mostly dry, maybe a chance of a shower later on this afternoon. temperatures right now, though, it is warm outside, muggy, 73 philadelphia. 72 degrees in wilmington and delaware. many of our pennsylvania suburbs coming in near 70 degrees. closer look at your neighborhood entrepreneurs right now, 71 west mt. airy, andorra at 73. 74 in fox chase. it is going to stay warm as we go through the morning hours and warmer by the afternoon. so we're talking about high temperatures topping out around 87 degrees for the philadelphia area. so expect mostly sunny skies as you're waking up. by 6:00 in the morning, temperatures 71 agrees. that is warm and muggy. by 9:00 this morning, if you're in the philadelphia area around 77 degrees, later on this afternoon, we have a chance of a couple showers around. i don't think everyone will see

them but tomorrow some bigger changes, some cooler air moving in the forecast. we'll show you that and a closer look at your neighborhood weather coming up. let's get a check of the roads with jessica boyington. >> we're starting on the vine street expressway right new. it's closed with the ongoing construction work. these are our cameras around 24th street. you can actually see flashing lights up ahead. that is police activity blocking the on and off ramps. westbound and eastbound closed between broad and the schuylkill expressway. no direct access to the schuylkill or 95 at least right now. there's an accident in montgomery on welsh and evans road. we're down to one lane on the burlington bristol in both directions until 5:00 this morning dealing with construction work. tracy? we're following breaking news in southwest philadelphia right now where police say two men kidnapped, robbed and shot a delivery driver. the detectives say the victim was making a delivery to a home

on beaumont street. the suspects ordered him in the back of his car and then drove him to an area of warrenton and cobbs creek, they took him out of the car, stole money, shot him in the head. the victim ran away, screaming for help before he collapsed. he's currently in critical condition. his car was found abandoned nearby. the suspects are still on the loose. count on nbc 10 and the nbc 10 app or updates on this breaking news all morning long. it's 4:03. now to decision 2016, hillary clinton makes history. nbc news confirms by its delegate count she's the presumptive democratic presidential nominee. the former secretary of state touched on the news at rallies at california last night. both nbc and the associated press said clinton topped the magic number after confirming support from super delegates. she's the first u.s. woman to be presumptively nominated for president by a major political

party. this was her first public reaction. >> we are on brink ofç a historic, historic, unprecedented moment. but we still have work to do, don't we? in san francisco, democratic rival bernie sanders called the new hedesignation for clinton, rush for judgment. he said superdelegates could switch sides. primary and caution voters will go to the polls in california, montana, new mexico, the dakotas and new jersey where polling opens in about two hours. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at a polling place in camden this morning. matt, walk us through today. >> tracy, before yesterday, and all those numbers you just mentioned there about hillary clinton reaching the number of delegates needed to be the presumptive democratic nominee, it seemed that new jersey was in a position to help decide who that democratic nominee would

be. now, a couple of notes for new jersey, we'll go over a few of these right now. there's still a voice for those in the garden state right here. new jersey does award their delegates proportionately. it's not winner take all. but according to recent polls, hillary clinton has been showing a double digit lead over bernie sanders here in the garden state. here's something else. there are 16 so-called superdelegates in new jersey. they are the people within the party who can vote at the convention, however they wish. most here have already said that they would vote for clinton at the convention next month. but two big names, george norcross and his brother, donald norcross, up for re-election in the house today, both have not yet decided which candidate to support with their superdelegate vote. california and a handful of other states as we mentioned, they're also voting today. as far as the republicans go, donald trump has already been named the presumptive nominee there. coming up at 4:30, we'll talk

about some of the other races going on in new jersey today. it is not just the races for presidential nominees, we'll talk more about that. we'll have a lot more coming up about new jersey's role in voting throughout the morning. for now, i'm live outside rutgers, camden. matt delucia, nbc 10 news. we'll have reporters tracking the results for presidential primaries and the congressional races as well. the nbc 10 app has everything you need to know about decision 2016. you'll also find a quiz to match you with the best candidate for your views. it's 4:06. philadelphia police have a man in custody accused of taking a woman into the woods and assaulting her. only nbc 10 was there as police made the arrest last night. police say the suspect approached the victim outside the wawa store in state road in torresdale. he asked her for a cigarette, then forced her into a wooded area where he assaulted her. she managed to break free and call police. >> she mefr met him before or saw him before, even in the

neighborhood. this is a stranger sexual assault. >> the victim also has bruises on her arms. police caught the suspect on a bike about two blocks from the crime scene. please need your help to find the person they say is responsible for killing a 78-year-old man last week. police issued an arrest warrant for quinntis clark. they've linked clark to joseph daley's missing blue van. he was beaten and strangled to death last week inside his home. members of the american legion postç talked about daley's importance in the community. >> he had a heart of gold. he would give you the shirt off his back if he had nothing else. if you talk to residents in the commune, they'll tell you that. he was a hard-working guy. >> there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to clark's arrest and conviction. congressman chaka fattah will be in court today, back in court, as the defense presents

its case in its corruption trial. the prosecution wrapped up yesterday after 13 days of making its okay case. the government says fattah misspent campaign money on his son's college loan debt and used campaign money to pay off an illegal campaign loan. fattah says he's innocent. his team of lawyers contends any money or gifts were not favors but because the two men were good friends who enjoyed each other's company. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> well, good morning and also don't forget with your new neighborhood weather, the seven-day forecast will be right at the bottom of the screen for you. our first headline for this morning, it's warm outside. it's also muggy when you step out. mostly through the area, low temperatures will be around 70 degrees. it's going to be a warm start to your day. this afternoon we'll be topping out at about the mid to upper

80s for some areas. maybe a couple thunderstorms farther north and west of philadelphia. don't be surprised if you see it, i don't think everyone will but by tomorrow we'll be cooler. we still have a chance for showers tomorrow but cooler temperatures down into the 70s for an afternoon high. we'll be staying breezy as we go through the day tomorrow, too. temperatures mostly around 70 degrees for most of the area, lehigh valley coming in in the mid-60s. if you're along the shore, you're the warmest at this point. temperatures are about the mid-70s. here woodbine, 74 degrees, mullica township 72. dennis township, 74. ocean city coming in right around 70 degrees. summer's point 70 degrees as well. that's with the south wind that you see. that's going to help to warm temperatures up across the area as we go through the afternoon. here is a look as we go through the afternoon today. here's shore forecast. by 10:00 this morning, around 77 degrees. by the afternoon, before the low

80s. if you're in south jersey, here's your forecast throughout the day. 10:00 this morning, right around 79 degrees. it will warm up quickly and we go into 2:00 p.m., temperatures around the mid-80s already. the best chance of showers will be mostly north and west of philadelphia. that will be the best chance for a thunderstorm. it's still a slight chance, though. if you're in the lehigh valley, by 10:00 a.m., mid-70s by this afternoon. about the mid-to-low 80s. you'll be surprised if you do see a passing thunderstorm across the area. your neighborhood temperatures for today, 84 degrees, bethlehem, chance of a shower there. kutztown, coming in 81 degrees this afternoon. phoenixville, 84. west chester, same thing. 84 mt. airy, 87 in byberry. mid-80s and in delaware, mid-80s. rehoboth beach, coming in 84 degrees. we'll take a closer look at your extended forecast coming up. >> sheena, thanks.

drivers might want to avoid the delaware memorial bridge this morning. two westbound lanes will be shut down in less than an hour. crewsúw@ll be out working to replace vertical rows of wire rope that connect the bij deck with the main suspension cable. that work continues until 8:00 tonight. that's one place to avoid. what else should we know about the morning, jessica? >> if you typically take the delaware memorial bridge, take the commodore barry bridge, take 95 and head to delaware that way. as for the rest of the area bridges, doing okay for the most part. all of that construction on the burlington bristol is back to normal. all lanes are open and we're clear on the ben and the walt into philadelphia right now. the on and off ramps are closed from 95, 95 headed southbound around street road. they're doing paving work there. an accident in montgomery on welsh and evans road. more in the next ten. falls township police have a

4:14. 73 degrees outside. a little more than a week into the summer season, atlantic city is struggling to find life guards. this sunday, the city will hold a tryout camp. they need more than two dozen lifeguards for full coverage of the beaches. the first-year lifeguard makes

about $100 a day. >> there is another opportunity to find work in atlantic city. the former show boat casino will re-open next month as a hotel which means the owners need to fill hundreds of positions fast. apply in person at the showboat today from 1:00 to 7:00. delaware governor jack markell will begin taking the 22 in 22 challenge. it's a national campaign to raise awareness about suicides among veterans. the governor will join state lawmakers in dover in doing 22 push-ups every day for 22 days which is symbolic of the 22 veterans who take their own lives each day in the united states. twisted metal, flattened cars and soot-covered keys. they are 9/11 artifacts housed in an airplane hangar. most much the 2,400 pieces have been claimed over the past decade, many incorporated into memorials and tributes.

now only 18 items remain. the port authority which manages the hangar says it plans to demolish the building once they find homes for those last few items. tropical storm colin is causing road flooding and knocking out power outages along the gulf coast as it strikes northern florida and southern georgia. florida's governor has declared a state of emergency. sandbags have been distributed. schools were closed early in advance of tonight's expected landfall. 6,000 national guardsmen are on standby, waiting for the storm to create more havoc. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen is here with more on colin, where the storm is going and how it will impact our area. sheena? >> the main thing with this storm, it would give us a nice breeze across the area. the rain will stay well to our south. let's take a look at that storm quickly here. as we go through the next several days, we'll keep this wind in the forecast. at least as we go through today

and tomorrow. temperaturewise, though, first neighborhood temperatures we're around 70 degrees for mullica hill, 71 voorhees, 72 mt. laurel, 73 in florence. 68 hamilton township, 69 degrees hopewell township. it is a warm start to your day. locally we have a cold front just off to our west and now we're dry through the area. but the best chance of showers later on this afternoon, looks to be north and west of philadelphia. you see the rain right now, right around scranton. we could see a couple isolated showers through the lehigh valley, the poconos today. and can't rule out thunderstorms either. so now we'll look further south. this is tropical storm cullen spinning around jacksonville. you see all the rain, mostly off in the atlantic at this point and up through parts of north carolina. as this system continues moving out to sea, it will be staying to our south. we don't expect much in the way of rain from it. there you see the track quickly takes it out to sea after it grazes parts of the north carolina coast, staying far to

our south. what we would get from it, may be breezy conditions, especially along the shore. this thing looks like it's headed straight out to sea. i don't thinkç we have to worr about that heading our way at all. not a concern here. for today, around 87 degrees for the philadelphia area, could see a couple isolated showers. i don't think it will be everybody. tomorrow, cooler, 71 degrees in philadelphia. noticeably cooler. still the chance of a couple showers, maybe a thunderstorm tomorrow. thursday it looks nice and dry. mid-70s. things are really going to be shaping up nicely after such a warm day today. pennsylvania suburbs mid-80s. tomorrow right around 70 degrees. still a chance of a shower. for today in the lehigh valley, that's one of the areas that will see the best chance of a shower, maybe a thunderstorm mid-80s tomorrow. look at that, only around 70 degrees and we go into thursday, low 70s. new jersey today, expect mid-80s. i think you'll have the lowest chance of a shower today. tomorrow a chance of a shower or thunderstorm around 70 degrees. then by thursday, mid-70s. really after today because we

will be fairly warm this afternoon, especially along the shore and in delaware, mid-80s. we go into tomorrow and thursday and that's when temperatures will be extremely comfortable, more like the mid-to-low 70s. your seven-day forecast is always scrolling at the bottom of the screen for you. we'll take a closer look at your neighborhood weather coming up. >> love the seven day at bottom of the screen. sheena, thanks. 4:19. let's check with jessica boyington. >> the vine street expressway is closed. yesterday we were open both directions westbound and eastbound in between broad street and the schuylkill. right now we have taken this construction project and made it active again. no real problems, though, surrounding the area. just no access directly through center city on the vine. take local vine as your alternate. you can see flashing lights in the area, as well we are blocking those on and off ramps to access the vine street expressway. there's also an accident in montgomery on welsh road and

two philadelphia families are cleaning up after a water main break damaged parts of their home. you can see the driveway from skyforce 10. one homeowner shared pictures with us from inside her garage submerged under two feet of water. >> the water came up to here on

me. there's a drain there but the drain couldn't handle the amount. it was coming out everywhere, running down the street. >> she told us she still has water service but expects the city to help with repairs. 4:24. a police department in bucks county is challenging the person who hang an offensive sign. the sign reads "only good cop is a dead cop." it was found hanging on lincoln highway near pennsbury manufacturing yesterday. they released a statement that reads in part, i know whoever did this did it out of ignorance. i would like to sit down with them and show them what we do as police officers so they can base their opinions on facts and not ignorance. i doubt they will do this because they hung the sign in the middle of the night like a true coward that i think they are. the mother of a 3-year-old boy who fell into the cincinnati zoo's gorilla exhibit will not be charged with a crime. after reviewing the evidence, the prosecutor said he's not

seeking charges because the little boy simply, quote, scampered off. he apparently climbed over the outer barrier before falling into a shallow mote çbelow. a zoo response team shot and killed the gorilla to protect the boy. >> if anyone doesn't believe a 3-year-old can scamper off very quickly, they've never had kids. because they can. and they do. >> the zoo plans to re-open its gorilla exhibit today with a taller barrier. the boy's family is pleased with the prosecutor's decision. they released a statement that reads in part, this is one more step in allowing us to put this tragic episode behind us and return to our normal family life. tonight, the prison that once housed many of america's most notorious criminals will host yoga behind the walls. the presentation and practice at eastern state penitentiary will be led by a former prisoner and founder of the transformation

projects. the group teaches yoga to help inmates with coping mechanisms, anti-social behavior and substance abecause. tonight's program is free and open to the public. memorial services for muhammad ali are scheduled for thursday and friday in his hometown of louisville, kentucky. officials say they'll distribute more than 30,000 tickets for the two services. the first gathering on thursday will be an islamic funeral prayer service. ali's funeral will then be held on friday following a procession through the city. the procession will carry the body of the boxing icon through his old neighborhood, past his childhood home and down the street that bears his name. ali died on friday at the age of 74. one of ali's daughters talked about the world's reaction to her father's death. >> i prepared mentally for many years that, obviously one day i was going to lose my father and that time has come. i think the whole world is sad. anybody who ever loved him, and so month people do.
