crew is on their way to assess the damage. >> i heard the crack and just as i'm running, it was behind me. >> reporter: it was a close call for rose as storms passed through the strong winds toppled a tree headed straight in her direction. >> the line broke, trees fell down and i ran. i was inches away from the door and i had just that it in the door. >> reporter: the bad weather did not last long. >> just heard the crash. pop. >> reporter: but it was long enough to make a big mess that knocked out power on the 6100 block of north 7th street. >> i heard something, but nothing that loud that you would think that a tree came down on your block. >> reporter: no one was injured, but the tree crashed into an suv shattering its back window. the branches are just shy of slamming in to anyone's home instead littering the front yards. >> i don't know who will clean it up. the man responsible across the street because it was his tree, i'm not sure.

rose marrow connor, nbc 10. and four new schools are part of the new program. back to the storm damage from this afternoon, here is another one, a large tree that came down and power lines in the middle of ridge brooke. also look at this in moorestown, electrical wires on fire right in the middle of road there. it moved through quickly and packed a punch. >> and it's the winds pushing it fast that came down to the ground and created those strong wind gusts. and the wet ground. all of that rain that we got in the last month, that didn't help either. and we have maybe more storms

coming over the weekend. our camera showing blue right over billy penn there. started the came day off with sunshine, ended the day off with sunshine. and in between, wow, we started off here is the morning rush, just fine as we expected. and here comes the line of storms and it really intensified just as it got to the philadelphia area. i-95 and that's why we had so much reports of wind damage. this is right at noontime. there is that line, each one of those little red dots, a strong thunderstorm with a strong gusty wind. and we had many reports of that. right now nothing on the radar close by, so we're in pretty good shape. all these dots indicate reports of extremely strong winds or wind damage. you don't notice many north and west of tilly.

a lot from philadelphia all the way down to the shore. but strongest wind gusts, 72 miles an hour cumberland counter. and that wind second place, 66 miles per hour long beach township near beach haven. many reports over 50. temperatures now in the 60s in many parts of the area and the wind is strong out of the west. a strong land breeze. now we cooler days on the way. we've been in the 80s for a good bit of this month so far. 83 yesterday. only 73 today. 76 only. 80 on friday. at least the next two days will be dry. the next rain is coming over the weekend. and we might get another round of thunderstorms.
