police officers will check mourners' bags and control what is expected to be gridlock traffic. >> i'm going to miss you. and i want to see you again. >> reporter: now christina grimmie's family is allowing a camera but no reporters inside. and that 8:00 funeral memorial service for security reasons we can tell you that grimmie in fact was laid to rest last night. mourners will still hear her voice. we understand that several of her songs will be played during tonight's memorial service. the pastor also said that not everyone who wishes to get in here tonight, because several thousand are expected, that not everyone will be permitted to do so. live in medford cydney long, nbc 10 news. a man is under arrest after police say he hit two teenagers with his car and drove off. one of those teens is in critical condition with a head injury. the crash happened around 2:00 this morning as a group of teens rode bikes on broad street near wallace street in spring garden. police say the car hit two

here's a live look out. philadelphia centre city skyline. we have some clouds around, but at this moment just kind of fair weather, clouds. the radar has tried to indicate a few pop-up sprinkles across the area but we're mostly dry. philadelphia coming in at 80 degrees right now. winds gusting close to 20 miles an hour in some locations. but either way, it really is a nice end to your friday. the rest of the area sitting right around 80 degrees for the most part. lehigh valley mid 80s. we'll look at some of our pennsylvania suburbs. lincoln university coming in 84 degrees right now. that's a warmer spot. 81 west bradford township. 84 kenneth square. we have an 86 here in malburn. some areas really warm up quite a bit this afternoon. north wales coming in 85 degrees. but warrington 78 with that breeze around 80 degrees in new hope in bucks county. so it looks good right now. it's going to stay that way overnight. 68 degrees and clearing out by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning right around 60 and sunny. pennsylvania mid 60s by 10:00

p.m. by tomorrow morning we're looking at the mid 50s. a nice start to your morning tomorrow in the lehigh?fyç vall. we're going to stay dry for the rest of tonight, 58 degrees by 6:00 a.m. if you're waking up in delaware tomorrow morning expect sunshine, morning temperatures around 60 degrees, and the sun comes up. same thing in new jersey. if you're along the shore, you will be waking up to plenty of sunshine to start your weekend. we'll take a look at the shore forecast for your saturday and sunday and for your father's day coming up. we have new information about a car chase and crash that ended with a shooting in bucks county. a story we first told you about yesterday. you may remember. a man saw an alleged thief trying to break into a car. so that man chased the alleged chief, and after a crash he fired a shot at him. today police say both men are being charged in the case. now to the latest on the terror in orlando. new jersey governor chris christie ordered all flags at state buildings lowered to half staff in memory of the victims. in a statement the governor called the orlando attack "a

deliberate and callous assault on the freedoms we cherish as americans." there's another visible show of support along i-95 in philadelphia. a billboard reading "heal our orlando" is on display on the northbound side of the interstate near front street. meanwhile, we are learning more about the events leading up to that shooting. the co-owner of a florida gun shop says omar mateen tried to buy body armor and bulk ammunition about five or six weeks before the orlando shooting. the shop owner says mateen's behavior was suspicious and employees did not feel comfortable selling him 1,000 rounds of ammunition. mateen walked away empty-handed. authorities continued to look into how much mateen's wife knew in advance about her husband's plans to attack the pulse nightclub. a source close to the family told nbc news mateen texted his wife during the rampage, asking her, "do you see what's happening?" >> i need a big hug from you, man. i appreciate it. >> a central florida police

officer visited a patient he helped save from the rampage. officer omar delgado had an emotional reunion with angel colon at a hospital in orlando. orlando hospital, that is. officer delgado pulled a critically injured colon out of the nightclub to safety. it was the first time they'd seen each other since the shooting. today in south carolina the city of charleston paused to note a grim anniversary. dozens of memorial services around the city paid tribute to the nine people massacred on this day last year. during a church prayer service. security was tight here at the emanuel a.m.e. church where hundreds gathered to remember the victims. police say the alleged shooter, 22-year-old dylann roof, killed the group and wounded several others after walking into the historically black church and joining the prayer service. he's scheduled to go on trial november 7th. he faces murder and hate crime charges. prosecutors have asked for the death penalty. the church shooting anniversary and the violence in

orlando have pennsylvania senator bob casey renewing his call for action on gun control. casey was joined by more than two dozen ministers in philadelphia today. nbc 10's rosemary connors is live with that story. what message does the senator have, rosemary? >> reporter: well, jacqueline, the senior democratic senator from pennsylvania does not want a gun to get in the hands of anybody convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime. now, as you mentioned, the senator was in philadelphia today. he was visiting with members of a.m.e. churches throughout the region. ministers throughout the region, they were observing the one-year anniversary of the shooting at the historic black church in charleston where nine people died. the senator says the root of what happened there in that crime along with what happened in orlando is hate. and that's why he's calling for this legislation. >> i know i'm going to hear a lot of opposition to this. they'll say oh, my goodness, how can you apply that standard to

only a misdemeanor? well, when you leave hate unchecked, it usually gets a lot worse. >> reporter: now, casey says that his bill will most likely not come up for a vote next week in the senate. there are some that will be voted on either monday or tuesday. still he says he hopes to build support over the coming days, weeks, and months. now, his counterpart in the senate, republican pat toomey of pennsylvania, he's also working on gun control legislation. we're going to have that part of the story coming up in our 5:00 hour. reporting live in centre city, i'm rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, rosemary. back to our breaking news story now and the discovery police say they made inside this bucks county man's home. 12 girls, one as young as six months old, and authorities say he fathered two of them with a teen whose parents sold her to him. >> nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is live in southampton township where he just spoke with police. >> reporter: this is a very

disturbing discovery. an anonymous tip led authorities to this home in feasterville, bucks county on old street here. let me zoom in and show you this house where authorities say 12 girls ranging from six months to 18 years old were found inside the house. and they tell me none of these girls had birth certificates readily available. police say it doesn't appear any of the girls were in school or even registered with authorities. and after investigating police tell me that the homeowner, lee kaplan, and we'll put his mug shot up, police say kaplan allegedly sexually abused at least one of these girls. now, police say it gets even stranger. that girl he's accused of abusing was sold to him according to authorities by a couple in lancaster county, formerly amish, who needed to settle some sort of financial obligation. police now investigating whether any of the other children inside the house were abused. but they say that girl that was gifted to kaplan and abused allegedly gave birth to at least

two children inside the house. >> this child gave birth to other children through an inappropriate relationship. >> and do you know who these other children were in the home, these other 12 children? >> we're still investigating that. bucks county youth is investigating that along with some other agencies helping out trying to identify their genealogy and who the parents actually are. >> do you know if they were registered with the state at all or have any identity? >> as far as i know, we haven't been able to locate birth certificates or any kind of paperwork for these kids yet. >> authorities also called for assistance from officials in lancaster county who have more experience dealing with cases involving the amish. i should also tell you that the parents of that 14-year-old girl who was allegedly sold to lee kaplan, those parents were also arrested. they are also facing charges. police tell me there's much more to come on this very complicated case. again, they're continuing to investigate to determine whether any of the other 11 children

coast last month, killing all 66 people on board. there's new information, meanwhile, about the man accused of assassinating a british lawmaker. a u.s. civil rights group says the suspect had links to an american white supremacist organization. police say thomas mar ir stabbed and shot parliament member jo cox yesterday. a witness said the killer shouted "britain first." britain is in the middle of a heated debate over whether it should remain in the european union. walt disney world will add new warning signs after a 2-year-old died in an alligator attack. signs around the seven seas lagoon at disney's grand floridian resort warned against swimming in the water. but there were no warning signs about any alligators. a gator snatched little lane graves from the edge of the water tuesday night and pulled him under. an autopsy shows the boy drowned. there's no time frame for when the new signs will be in place. the resort's beaches remain closed. now to a developing story in

california where a wildfire has devoured 1,200 acres near santa barbara. first responders are hoping winds won't send the blaze in to nearby homes. close to 1,000 firefighters have rushed to the area. today the first judge to be confirmed by the u.s. senate this year was formally welcomed at the federal courthouse in philadelphia. judge luis felipe restrepo will sit on the u.s. court of appeals for the 3rd district. it will be just the second latino to serve on the 3rd court. after today's ceremony pennsylvania senator pat toomey said he expects restrepo to be a great judge. >> oh, i was very, very pleased and proud to support his nomination. help play a role in ushering his confirmation through the senate. >> restrepo was nominated back in 2014 but wasn't confirmed for more than a year. from our dell dpel bureau wilmington city council approved the measure, allowing some city

on tuesday. that will be the first full day of summer. summer officially starts late monday night. right now on the radar we are nice and dry, not looking at any showers. some models trying to indicate a few pop-up showers. we're not seeing that. i think we'll be mostly dry for the rest of this evening. down to the south that's where we have the rain from last night and early this morning. that's all pushed down through parts of virginia carolina. we don't have to worry about that coming back this weekend. here's future weather tonight. we stay nice. if you have friday night plans it's going to be a nice evening. tomorrow a gig big area of high pressure comes, in kind of parks itself over our area as he with go across the weekend. that's going to keep us nice and dry both saturday and sunday. so by sunday it's still here. we're warming up a bit but even more so as we go into monday. the high sinks a little farther south. the wind flow around it is going to pull up a warmer air mass for us. we could be close to 90 degrees in some areas on none and even as we go into tuesday but that's going to be the return of some thunderstorms. tomorrow here's a look at your forecast.

it's a big day for these youngsters in camden for two reasons. one, they graduated from preschool. and two, they were offered to have their college tuition paid for. how cute are they? for those little graduates it is a life-changing gift. >> but before they can claim this tuition there is still lots of work to be done. >> reporter: little caps, little gowns, little feet. big hopes and dreams. here at early morning research academy at rutgers camden it all starts with a diploma. but this morning that rolled-up piece of paper means so much more. >> it's an emotional moment. my eyes watered up but i held my composure. >> reporter: this father part of the throngs watching their kids nearby. mom janice johnson.

dressed in amish clothing running around the yard here, often peeking out of windows but always acting extremely skittish. and yesterday an anonymous tip led authorities in lower southampton police to this house in feasterville and inside as you mentioned, 12 girls ranging in age from six months to 18 years old were discovered. police say none of them had birth certificates readily available. police say it doesn't appear any of them were in school or registered with the state. and after investigating police tell me the homeowner lee kaplan, we'll show his mug shot here, they say he allegedly sexually abused at least one of these girls. police tell me it gets even stranger from there. they say that the 14-year-old girl he's accused of abusing was gifted to him by a couple in lancaster county, formerly amish, who needed to settle some sort of financial obligation. and police say kaplan fathered at least two children with that young girl.
