authorities says she's had a bad feeling for a while. >> it doesn't feel right. it's not. and it's never the wrong time to do what's right. >> good evening. i'm jacqueline london. the parents of one of the alleged victims are accused of gifting their daughter to that suspect. nbc 10's andrea klein thomas joins us live at his home in faefrville. it's a case that's so hard to comprehend, neighbors or strangers. what are you learning about it tonight? >> reporter: well, jacqueline, after all these years neighbors say they only thought that three or four children lived in this home. but they did say their behavior raised a lot of red flags, but no one could have imagined what was uncovered. for years this house on old stroot road in the shadows of overgrown grass became increasingly suspicious to neighbors. >> once in a while we'd try and say hi to the girls and you know, like he would come to the door and they would go running into the house.

>> reporter: the children who lived here were described as nervous and never allowed to talk to anyone. it's the reason why over the years neighbors like jen betts said they contacted police. >> you can't just go into somebody's house. like there wasn't enough proof i guess. >> reporter: but betts's motherly instincts wouldn't ease up. and on wednesday she contacted child services. >> they just looked sad and fearful all the time you'd see them. that's what made me call. >> reporter: police arrested 51-year-old lee kaplan. 12 girls ranging from six months to 18 years old were found in the home. according to the affidavit, kaplan admitted to sexually assaulting the eldest girl that resulted in the birth of two children. >> what i have thought in the news is really unbelievable for me. >> reporter: police also arrested a couple from this home in lancaster county. they're charged with giving their teenage daughter to kaplan, allegedly in exchange for saving them from financial hardship. according to the district attorney, those parents claim all of the children except the two allegedly fathered by kaplan are theirs.

her as she signed autographs after a concert last week. nbc 10's drew smith reports from her memorial service in medford. >> reporter: so many people came here the parking lots ran out of space. people traveling from south jersey and beyond to pay respects to a rising music star taken too soon. the voice of christina grimmie continues to touch so many as her church played one of her performances from nbc's "the voice." >> christina, i am so proud of you. i love you, girl. >> reporter: family and friends spoke about the shy girl from marlton who grew into a talented singer on stages across the country. >> it feels like a dream, you know. >> reporter: grimmie's brother marcus was right there when she was killed. >> the gunman came. he was very quick. it happened so fast. but her arms were open. >> reporter: she died the way she lived her life. welcoming others with open arms. the mayor of evesham township

where grimmie grew up says he's cried every day since her death. >> one of the most adorable, loving human beings i've ever been around. >> reporter: security was tight here, and the family is devastated. but grimmie's mother says she's also overwhelmed with the support. >> i just -- i just want to see her. >> reporter: she won't be coming home. but the church says her music and the way she lived her life will continue to inspire. ♪ for security and privacy reasons the family laid grimmie to rest yesterday. they have started a scholarship fund at her high school. in medford i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. and more tragedy out of orlando. a survivor of the shooting rampage at orlando's pulse nightclub says he saw the shooter having a drink at the bar earlier in the night. but the victim's account has not been verified. the fbi has not provided a timeline. accounting for omar mateen's

movements that evening. but new documents provided to nbc news show mateen talked to a fellow recruit in a florida department of corrections training class about bringing a gun to the training program back in 2007. his colleague wrote in a report that mateen asked him "if he was to bring a gun to school, would i tell anybody." mateen was involuntarily dismissed. one of the young women from philadelphia who survived the rampage in orlando is out of the hospital tonight. you may remember 20-year-old patience carter who shared her riveting story of survival earlier this week. the university city high school alum posted this photo on instagram today. the caption read in part, "thank you to all the skeptics that believe my pain isn't real. it's your outrageous insensitivity that makes me want to heal even faster and to grow even stronger #discharged." this comes as some of the doctors talked about how the shooting changed their lives.

neighbor. elizabeth anna floyd is facing third degree murder charges. version say she attacked alfred paine in the 500 block of marion avenue in east norton last november. he died five months later from his injuries. floyd is set to appear in court next month. a grand jury voted not to indict two vineland police officers after a man died in their custody. >> now! do it now! >> the incident was caught on tape. phillip white died in march of last year after a scuffle with police and a k-9 on a vineland street. the ruling also revealed the official cause of white's death was intoxication. that suggests white had pcp in his system at the time of his death. the chair of national awareness alliance issued a statement following the ruling. it reads in part, "three people have been killed in the less than six months by law enforcement in cumberland county. it appears that people of color

and poor people cannot receive justice when killed by police." philadelphia housing authority police officers will start using body cameras when they hit the streets. all 78 officers will be outfitted with the cameras starting next tuesday. the equipment gives officers the ability to record, store, and manage video of their encounters with the public. the p.h.a. is the latest in a growing list of local departments using this technology. septembera police began using the cameras earlier this year. philadelphia police, chester police, and delaware state police all have pilot programs in place. several communities in south jersey are also using the technology. prayers for peace tonight in germantown. members of the 14th police district joined about a dozen community members for a prayer walk this evening. the group walked along germantown avenue calling for an end to violence in the city. a history-making night at a south jersey church.

lorraine harris was ordained a priest during a ceremony tonight at st. paul's episcopal church in camden, making her the first black female priest in the church's history. harris was born and raised in camden and graduated from rutgers university camden. new at 11:00 from the nbc 10 jersey shore bureau, a big beach music festival in cape may county can go forward as planned. the state superior judge ruled that wildwood can host beach glow next month despite objections from maurice pier and other businesses. they have filed a lawsuit to block two-day electronic dance music festival pointing to reported problems at the constaconcert two years ago including drugs and drinking. but beach glow's producers say they'll help raise money to bring school music programs to underserved students. could you be a millionaire? you might want to check your mega millions lottery ticket. a $310 million jackpot was up

man into custody at a donald trump rally tonight in texas. sources tell the nbc affiliate in houston the man was in a parking garage with a pistol. it's unclear if the man has any connection to the republican presidential front-runner. the rally went on with trump telling supporters he will defend the second amendment. he targeted the tragic shooting in orlando saying it could have been prevented if people had guns strapped to them. >> if some of those wonderful people had guns strapped right here, right to their waist or right to their ankle, and this son of a [ muted ] comes out and starts shooting -- >> reporter: trump went on assuring gun holders he would preserve and cherish their right to bear arms. a political argument apparently led to the assault of a teenage girl in newcastle county. we first brought you this story last night at 11:00. mira bay talked to us about what happened.

>> it basically started from politics. we were talking about donald trump. and i had my opinion o'& they had their opinion. and one of the boys, they basically told me to stop talking about politics and just go away. >> the 13-year-old needed stitches after a group of kids assaulted her earlier this week. they even threw a piece of concrete at her. you can see her injuries in these photos that her mom posted to facebook. police have arrested one suspect so far in the case. it is an olympic stunner. russia's track & field team is banned from competing in the olympic games in rio because of a massive doping conspiracy. track's governing body announced it was holding a ban on russia's track & field federation. it says the country had made some progress in cleaning up doping but failed to meet the requirements for reinstatement. russian president vladimir putin called the ban unfair, saying it's a mistake to mix politics with sports.

tuesday. so we're going to stay dry until tuesday. at least that's a nice dry stretch of weather. here's a live look at the radar. live picture. you can see no rain heading in this direction. it's all staying down to our south. as we go across the weekend, future weather shows us we stay nice and dry. big area of high pressure drops down from canada. this is going to block out any rain and a lot of cloud cover really too even as we go into sunday. it's still here. temperatures starting to heat up. and especially as we'c go into monday once this high gets a little farther south like it should be on monday the flow around it will start to pull up that warmer air from the south and from the west. that's why by monday for the start of summer we do expect temperatures close to 90 degrees in some spots. then notice this line of storms right around the great lakes by monday. that will be here by tuesday. so that's going to be our next chance for thunderstorms. you don't have to worry about it across the weekend. nice and dry. neighborhood temperatures for tomorrow 85 bella vista, lansdale 84 degrees. reading 86.
