car about five years ago i noticed there were some kids there that just popped up out of nowhere. right now at 6:00, neighbors are speaking out about the warning signs that led up to the rescue of 12 girls from a bucks county home. thanks for joining us. i'm denise nakano. we spoke to one neighbor today about what he called ongoing issues in and around lee kapl kaplan's property. he faces sex assault charges. drew smith is live and he's been working to track police who had previous interactions with kaplan. >> denise, i spoke to a source close to the investigation who confirmed there were numerous calls about nuisances here at

this property dating back years, but it was specifically to call about amish girls placed by a neighbor and phoned into police. it wasn't until now that police specifically found out what was going on inside. for the third straight day, crime tapes surrounds the home of lee kaplan. cars slowed where a dozen amish girls lived, many on sleeping on air mattresses in the basement. >> i asked my neighbor, what is the deal with these girls? they showed up out of nowhere, and i know they're not his. they counted nuisance issued like large amounts of smoke, but it is what he described is the skittish young girls working in the yard that are worried him most. >> we're going to the police. enough is enough. something is fishy. >> a source confirms ryles called police in april of last year, but investigators were not allowed inside they were told the girls and their mother was

staying with kaplan while their home underwent renovations. that mother is facing charges along with her husband. police say they gifted their 14 daughter to kaplan for saving them from financial ruin and she gave birth to kaplan's two daughters. the south hampton police said last night, no specific abuse cams until last week, and ryles wishes something could have been done sooner. >> all of this stuff made me say i can't sit with a clean conscience and want say something. so why is this not -- why didn't this happen a year ago? >> reporter: police need probable cause and a warrant to get inside the house which they say they didn't have until last week. this investigation continues tomorrow until state police are now involved and there are interviews lined up with more of the children for tomorrow. live in futureville, drew smith. nbc 10 app. the nbc 10 app brought you

the attack on pulse nightclub last sunday. attorney general loretta lynch appeared on "meet the press" this morning. she told chuck todd the transcript will be released tomorrow. lynch will also travel to or la orlando and they're still trying to interview witnesses and try to learn more about the gunman omar mateen. church bells rang out in orlando at 2:02 this morning marking exactly one week since the massacre. the bell at st. james cathedral tolled 49 times and one for each person killed in the nightclub. 53 others were hurt. here at home, people also paid their respects to the victims today. one local church held a convert while another honored their memories with a balloon release. nbc 10's andrea klein thomas is live outside the basilica of st. peter and paul, and tell us what

they're doing to honor the victims tonight. >> reporter: denise, mass will be held to remember the lives lost in the orlando shooting. all week we've seen vigils held by cities and organizations supporting the lgbtq community and today the space community is doing its part. >> earlier this afternoon there was a concert to end gun violence at the first presbyterian church on south 21st street and the philadelphia orchestra were among the musicians participating. donations were accepted to benefit heating god's soul. in germantown, the transformation church also remembered the victim of the orlando mass shooting and this diverse congregation is called an affirming ministry that welcomes everyone no matter their sexual orientation. the pastor says it really hits
