of the series. a scoreless inning for hector neris. he allows one hit during his scoreless inning of work. first pitch is in there for a strike. one of the things pete told us the other and bob mcclure kind of reiterated this today, with somebody like jeanmar gomez, make sure you get him some work because sometimes as a sinkerballer he becomes way too strong and his command is not what they would want it to be. nunez starts the ninth inning with a single. the leadoff batter is aboard. max kepler will be the hitter. he's 1 for 3 today.
4:09 pm

4:12 pm
>> tom: he's fast enough he's in scoring position easily. centeno with buxton out. runner on second base. centeno is 0 for 2, walked back in the fifth inning an scored one of the three runs for the twins. one ball and one strike as that ball is fouled away.

4:15 pm
phillies are one out away from finishing off this ball game. >> ben: maybe there's something back there that he's not picking the ball up? >> tom: that's what i'm wonder. and who knows? not to make excuses for him but there's something that's causing him at times to not see the ball properly. buxton has a base hit today. he's 1 for 3.
4:16 pm
>> tom: two really good pitches, sinkers on the hands. >> ben: that's what i said. just get back to making your pitches. you may give up a run or two, but get back to making your pitches. >> tom: runner at third base, no balls and two strikes. slider down and away. 1-2. gomez for a good part of this year was the major league leader in saves. he was reaping the benefits of the phils' close games, the well-played games, and he was a big reason why they were seven over .500. a looper foul down the left-field line. i was thinking the same thing, i don't know how he didn't break his bat. >> ben: didn't sound very good.
4:17 pm
>> tom: those number-one picks, those first-rounders, they don't get good wood. >> ben: i would hear them break the bat and they'd just get back in the box, and i'd think, uh, how do you not hear that? or even feel it? i'm not saying this one is broken but it didn't sound good. >> tom: 2-2. >> tom: just missed off the outside corner.
