make something of themselves here in the united states. well, they now become priority for deportation by homeland security officials just as those with criminal backgrounds. we know many live in shelters throughout the country. one of them is very close to us, which is known as the county detention centerment again, because of the recent arrival, they have no protection by the program previously approved by president obama, which still protects only a particular group of undocumented imgrants that arrived in america between june of 2007 and june of 2012. >> all right, iris, appreciate that. thank you very much. even before today's ruling on immigration, it was already a major issue on the presidential campaign trail, both candidates took to twitter with reaction today. donald trump commended the supreme court, and took a few jabs at his opponent tweeting, hillary clinton's open borders are tearing american families apart. i'm going to make our country safe again. clinton tweeted her

from office immediately two days after he was convicted of corruption. >> today, the 11 term congressman sent in a letter of resignation effective immediately, writing to house speaker paul ryan, quote, i'm honored to have had the privilege to serve. jim rosenfield is live with the insight into this new decision, jim? >> reporter: rosemary, in the letter, he says his resignation comes out of respect for house leadership after speaker ryan said he wanted fattah gone. he planned to stay in office until october 3rd, the day before he's set to be sentenced now. on tuesday, he was found guilty, as you know, on all 22 counts against him of racketeering, fraud, and money laundering. he represented west philadelphia and montgomery county and mainline since 1995. he served on the powerful house appropriations committee. u.s. senator bob casey of pennsylvania testified against fattah in the try, and today, casey spoke to us about the

north 20th street around this afternoon. the child was rushed to the hospital where she died a short time later. the police say the girl, her mother, and a 3-year-old were all inside the house. the shooting happened inside the home on the second floor, but police tell us it's too early to know what went wrong here. >> investigators are going to try to ascertain how this incident took place, how it happen, how the 4-year-old was shot, the weapon used, and ascertain how many individuals were in the house at the time of the incident occurred. >> right now, the mother is being questioned at police headquarters. atlantic city is selling parts of itself to the highest bidder to try to ease the city's financial troubles. today, the city put 120 unused properties up for sell including prime water front land, dubbed

the great atlantic city real estate auction has sold property, and two pieces of land is set for next month. all new at 5:00, justice tonight for the family of the delaware teenager who was shot and killed last month. three men have been indicted for the death of howard high student brandon wingo. the suspects were already serving time behind bars on other charges. nbc 10 delaware bureau spoke with the victims' family about the arrests. >> it just hurts a little more because it happened here. >> reporter: neighbors won't forget the afternoon of may 19 when 15-year-old brandon was shot and killed here on the way home from high school. >> it was not random. it was preplanned. we're not prepared at this point to get into the details of why, but it was not a random shooting. >> reporter: delaware's attorney general not saying why someone would kill brandon, but knows

who killed him. they indicted three on first degree murder charges, all three already locked up on other charges, now charged with his death, and they are charged as gang members. they are part of the shoot-to-kill or stk gang terrorizing some neighborhoods, but, again, not saying what led investigating to these suspects or why he was a target. >> he was a victim, clearly, and it was premeditated on the part of the defendants, and that's all we're prepared to say at this point. >> reporter: they filed charges against a woman saying she helped the men get a gun and falsely reported it stolen to police. i went back and forth with brandon's dad on facebook, no specific motive, but he's glad people are held responsible. nbc 10 news. meanwhile, fire officials tell us they hope to have a forest fire in burlington county 100% contained by tomorrow

morning. back in the pine barons today, several evacuated yesterday are now back inside their homes. two brothers charged in the killing of the philadelphia police officer, officer robert wilson, were in court today. carlton hips and brother, ramone williams accused of being involved in a series of armed robberies. the prosecutors said led to officer wilson's death. wilson interrupted a robbery in progress in gamestop store in north philadelphia in 2015. he was there to buy a video game for his son when police say hips and williams shot and killed him. authorities called wilson a hero for leading the gunman towards him to keep others safe inside that store. to this, there is more money to repair new jersey roads, but it would come at the expense of some drivers. still ahead, breaking down just how much more you could pay at the pump if state lawmakers approve the plan. the last time the sixers had the

excitement tonight u a live look again, coming up at 5:55, live here where alan iverson and dr. jay weigh in on tonight's number one pick. switching gears now, the baltimore van driver charged with murdering freddy gray is not guilty of all the charges he faced. this morning, a judge acquitted officer caesar goodson. prosecutors argued that goodson, as the van's driver, was the most culpable in the death. protests stayed peaceful in obama. that's in contrast to the riots this sparked in april of last year. goodson was the only one of the six cops accused in the cops to face a murder charge. porter's trial was a hung jury late last year. nero was acquitted on all charges against him last month. three other officers are awaiting trial. talk about some severe weather. wind gusts up to 100 miles per

already getting set for the convention. the aclu is suing the city on behalf of the group of the poor peoples human rights campaign. the anti-poverty group was denied a permit to march from city hall to the wells fargo center on the first day of the dnc. members spoke in a news conference this morning. the group's lawsuit says the city has an unwritten ban on demonstrations during morning and evening rush hours issue and it's hoping a federal judge will tell the city of philadelphia to give them a permit for the convention. >> i think that there's an effort to create an atmosphere of a festival in philadelphia, and those that are homeless in philadelphia don't feel like going to a festival. the city says there's no comment until it reviews the lawsuit. a plan to make it more expensive to fill up the gas tank in new jersey is debated today in trenton.
