that's a little better than what future indesks were indicating. that means mortgage rates are actually coming down. we heard from jenny allen saying if britain decides to leave the european union it would pose a risk, i'm watching the board it is ticking lower. we are now down 400 points, we're only over a minute in. shaping up for a wild day on wall street. i rarely have seen the kind of frenzy that we are seeing right now. >> there were only two possible outcomes of this stay or go, is there any indication of how long this could last? >> reporter: no traders are taking the bets, they are betting on which will be the

next european country to leave the european union they are bracing for the long haul and the economy and of course markets and economies are so interconnected it really is going to have an impact on the u.s. >> obviously this is a complex financial situation but the fears were if this vote tore to come to pass as it now has it could put the uk economy in recession and potential other economies around the world as well? >> reporter: that's exactly right, to the head of the uk to our central bank said it would be the wrong vote. but it fueled for britain to leave, there was a lot of ager toward immigration and one thing i kept hearing over and over is

europe. this is like an earthquake seismic. >> not only did they wake up to hear that the poll had gone through the exit the union but also woke up to the news that david cameron their prime minister would resign. >> reporter: yes, one woman woke up and said she heard the news an just broke out crying. but there are people in other parts of britain celebrating. it showed the division and echos the trump campaign with an anti-establishment vote and the lead campaign here used the trump campaign partly as their play book. it was all about taking back control. well, they think they have got control now. let's see in the negotiations that are to come over the next two years how much control they have and the first thing they have to say is the new prime minister will come from the

conservative party. they won't have control of the new prime minister, that's for sure and that will happen by october. >> and president obama saying that this special relationship that is often talked about between the uk and u.s. will continue but president obama wanted them to remain in the european union and traveled there and said so and kaugcaugh little bit of heat for that. >> reporter: yes, i think margaret thatcher back to win -- churchill. i think it will continue on a militariry and diplomatic front, but when washington wants to pick up the phone and ring somebody in europe where will it ring? in berlin? as the leader if you like as the european union of 27 nations?
