forecast. >> it's not going to be an all-day rain but we're starting off with showers and we have seen thunderstorms, too. look at the heavy rain that's crossing delaware bay and into south jersey. that has produced some lightning this morning. and that heavy rain is making its way to the east into cumberland and cape may counties right now. that won't be the end of it, even though it's dry in philadelphia, we'll see occasional showers an a chance of thunderstorms especially later this afternoon. delaware right now, 72 degrees. a light breeze out of the south at 8 miles an hour. we could see strong, gusty winds with thunderstorms. later this morning and into the afternoon hours, that's when we could be looking at some storms in philadelphia. 71 degrees right now. into the 80s with occasional showers and thunderstorms. i'll go through the forecast with the futurecast hour by hour to show you when those storms are most likely to pop up later today when i'm back in ten minutes. right now, let's check in with jessica boyington to see what's happening on the roads.ç

jessie? >> we're watching the vine street expressway through center city where we're watching 24th street. the roads look damp in either direction. the main thing we're concerned about is that we're closed for construction. you can see flashing lights up ahead. it is closed between broad street and the schuylkill expressway. local vine is your best bet for an alternate. 95 into center city having in problems. the blue route southbound from the schuylkill to 95 is a 15-minute trip. speeds into the 60s. watching the cleanup of this construction on the walt whitman bridge. there are intermittent lane closures as well as construction and lane restrictions as well. watch for construction crews in the area. tracy? >> jessica, thanks. it's 4:02. the red cross is help iing peop that lived in a boarding house

that had a ruehl collapse. no one was hurt. police have arrested a former school employee who they say sexually assaulted a student multiple times at the school and home. futurecast's katy zachry is live in upper gwynedd with a look at who this man is. katy, tell us more. >> these disturbing allegations are not what you would expect coming out of any school, but especially upper gwynedd school, a private school in the area. this took place between -- he's accused of findling, kissing and touching. he worked at the academy elementary schools i.t. department until february of this year.

the alleged relationship began a few months before that and started with inappropriate text messages between the two and continued to physical contact, both at the school, inside forte's i.t. office and once at the victim's home. coming up in the next half hour you'll see some of the text messages that were exchanged between the victim and the suspect, marcus forte. you'll hear how many times police here had to question him before he confessed. that's coming up in the next 25 minutes. katy zachry, nbc 10 news. discrimination by a former philadelphia school superintendent will cost the school more than $2 million. the late arlene ackerman unfairly steered a no-bid contract to a minority owned firm. that firm sued over a contract involving surveillance cameras.

ackerman died in 2013. three years earlier said she was sick of giving the district's work to contractors who did not look like her. atlantic city residents will get a chance to weigh in on the city's financial recovery plan. mayor don guardian and city council members will hold a public meeting tonight at 6:00. they're expecting to have an update on the plan to fix the city's budget before the state gives in. so far the city has said it wilç drum up cash by selling off property and raising fees for permits. casino workers in atlantic city could go on strike this friday. five of the city's eight gaming houses would be affected by the walkout. the workers want compensation for past give-backs. observers say picketing would hurt both union workers and the casinos. consumer advocate erin brockovich is holding a community meeting in horsham to

talk about the next step for neighbors impacted by tainted drunking water. the meeting is at 6:00 at upper moreland high school. brockovich will participate via video conference. council members last night decided to put filtration systems into some of the township's public wells and buy water from north wales. the council wants the navy to pay for it. neighbors at the meeting praised the move but they say they're still not comfortable drinking their own water. >> drinking bottled water out of an abundance of caution. i'd rather be safe than sorry. >> horsham township had to shut down five of its public wells. get ready for more fun today in the wawa welcome america festival. here's what you can do on day two. museum without walls is free to anyone. access it by phone, mobile app

downpours in the area. for now, it's dry in wilmington. we're not looking at an all-day rainfall. that is a heavy rain moving across delaware bay and south jersey. lightning strikes, expect a few more of those as it moves across south jersey. showers in the lehigh valley. this is the area we'll be watching for later today for the potential for strong storms. not an all-day rainfall, just a chance of showers and thunderstorms through most of the day. 71 degrees at 7:00. by 11:00, 79 degrees and we'll be hovering close to the 80 grow mark for much of the afternoon. mostly cloudy skies, occasional showers, thunderstorms in the suburbs and the lehigh valley. clouds and 69 degrees to start with at 7:00. the showers and thunderstorms are taking shape later in the morning and in the afternoon. delaware seeing showers to the south. a chance of more of those storms as we go through the day, 81 degrees at 3:00 this afternoon.

it's 4:13. good morning, cape may. here's a live look along beach avenue where you can see wet roads. rain showers are passing through delaware and jersey right now. we could see more rain later today. a community garden is bringing residents of several philadelphia neighborhoods closer together. they grow and share produce and it's all thanks to an app. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in brewerytown to explain what this is all about. >> this is the brewerytown garden at 27th and masters streets. you can see behind this fence here. it's been here for a couple of years in its current form due in part to neighbors finding out through word of mouth or word of

say was accidentally shot to death by his older brother. a single bullet killed this 4-year-old boy in east orange on saturday. police say his 6-year-old brother found a gun in their mother's purse and he pulled the trigger. a nearby baptist church will pay for the child's funeral. >> we're not members of the church but they are members of our commune. we always said we're a community church. we're there to help them in any way we can. >> we've also learned from officials the gun belonged to the mother but she did not have a permit. a child was shot to death inside a home on 20th street last thursday. police say she found a gun in a closet and shot herself in the face. the girl's mother is charged with third degree murder. police issued an arrest warn the for her boyfriend who faces involuntary manslaughter and other charges. a folcroft police officer shot seven times is recovering at home this morning. squad cars from across delaware

county followed officer christopher dorman from the hospital to folcroft fire company yesterday. the 25-year-old has volunteered there since he was a teenager. he's not talking specifically about the shooting but he says he's grateful for all the support he'sç received. >> i'd like to say thank you to everybody for being there for me and my family and my boths who have gone through this. it it means a lot. i appreciate it. >> he says he can't wait to get back to work. he was shut during a drug investigation on friday. d do dante island remains in prison. this summer marks 100 years since the first deadly shark attack along the jersey shore. a shark attack a swim emer backn july 1st, 1916.

from the shore to south jersey and philadelphia. a little bit cooler north and west where there are fewer showers. 71 degrees for ocean city and cape may courthouse. atlantic city also at 71 degrees. we'll see a warmup today in spite of these showers. this is just starting things off. look at the heavy downpours. there's cape may. they're just moving through central cape may county right now. slowly moving through with heavy rain. scattered light showers in the lehigh valley into the suburbs, upper chester and upper montgomery county seeing a few rain drops this morning. the potential is for some heavy rain at times, not an all-day rainfall. futurecast and the storm totals that go through the day. much of the day we won't be getting rain. 2:30 this afternoon, pretty quiet. an inch is on the ground in some areas. by this evening, we'll be tracking more showers and potential thunderstorms with heavy rainfall that will be adding up quickly.

its commencement ceremony last night. it's the 12th year in a row the leap academy has had a 100% graduation rain. eric lindros is headed to the hockey hall of fame. he was on the nhl's most dominating players in the '90s. he was the allegheny's mvp in '95. he led the flyers with stanley cup final in '97. had a bitter feud with fellow flyers ledge end bobby clark but his career ended because of concussions. john clark asked lindros what it meant to him. >> i think when it's all said and done, everyone wanted to win. that was the main focus on it. certainly there were times of friction, but to have bob's voice and support. >> he was clearly one of the most dominant players in the league at the time and probably one of the most dominant ever for that period of time. he was a terrific player. >> lindros will be inducted into
