up. >> we got to kick their ass. remembering buddy ryan who understood philly like no one else. the world on alert after a suicide attack at a crowded airport. tonight american officials have their guard up banning airlines from flying into tourkey. the blast claimed 36 lives, injured dozens of others. it sent passengers fleeing for safety. the prime minister says so far all indications point to isis being to blame for the attack. he says three suicide bombers arrived at the airport in a taxi, opened fire and blew themselves up. the attack is sending shock waves that reached here to philadelphia. brandon hudson spoke to someone who just moved here from istanbul. >> reporter: he was in stan bull

last week and used that airport. he described it as a dream city but now he says it's a city of nightmares. this tv footage on a computer appears to show the moment of one of the explosions and this instagram video gives us a glimpse of the aftermath of the attack at turkey's largest airport. a dark earie looking scene as people leave. it's one of many images we've seen since the bombing. >> i was in there and people were shooting on one side and we all ran the other way and then the bombs went off. >> reporter: halfway around the world this news has broken the heart of this man whose family lives in istanbul. >> they're okay but still they are sad. i mean, for the people that are injured, that have been killed. >> reporter: we met him at the turkish center in philadelphia. he lived in istanbul but moved to philly last week and flew out

of the same airport that was attacked tuesday night. >> the one who has been killed by the bombs could be my family as well. could be my daughter, could be my wife. could be myself. >> reporter: he questions the security problems at the airport. he hopes this is a wake up call for safer precautions. we spoke to homeland security which says they were already operating at the highest security level at philly international prior to the bombing. the homeland security inspector told us there are no perceived domestic threats. passengers are being vigilant while traveling. >> i think you lose if you stop doing what you do every day and if you come out of your normal routine then you've lost. >> reporter: he said he would like to see his home country become more proactive instead of reactive to avoid future attacks. nbc 10 news. tonight the presidential

candidates are reacting to the terror in turkey. donald trump told a crowd in ohio the u.s. has to get smart and tough on terrorism and renewed calls to use torture. >> and you know, they eat dinner like us. can you imagine them sitting around the table or wherever they're eating their dinner talking about the americans don't do waterboarding and yet we chop off heads. they probably think we're weak, we're stupid. we don't know what we're doing. we have no leadership. you know, you have to fight fire with fire. >> hillary clinton didn't discuss the attack at a town hall event in l.a. tonight but she did release a statement on twitter saying what happened strengthens our resolve to defeat terrorism around the world. earlier today clinton address in had the release of the republican report on the 2012

attack in benghazi. she said it's time to move on. the report faulted the obama administration in the attack that killed four americans at the outpost in libya but it produced no allegations about then secretary of state clinton. here at home another big story we are following tonight, the weather. parts of the area are still seeing heavy rain out there. this was the scene tonight. look at the radar. some viewers saw as much as three inches of rain in a matter of hours. let's bring in our chief meteorologist. who is getting hit right now. parts of the philadelphia area are getting hit right now from the city and up to trenton, new jersey. just in the last couple of hours this area of some pretty heavy showers has moved in. you can see it's moved right past glennside and it is pretty heavy. they're getting heavy rain right

now up toward abbington and it's about an hour or two of rain and it's moving up toward trenton, lawrence township, hopewell about to get into it. it just ended in newtown. that's about the only area that's getting hit hard. we're not getting much in south jersey at the moment. as much rainfall fell we had a couple of areas this morning in cape may county up to three inches of rain and this afternoon over three inches of rain. we'll have the holiday forecast in a few minutes. he was bold, he was brash and he was philly's own. tonight eagle's fans are remembering buddy ryan. he did things his way and the city loved him for it. john clark is here with a look. eagles fans loved what buddy did on the field and they loved him

for how he did it, right. >> reporter: right. eagles fans are mourning the loss of one of the most popular people in philly's sports history. buddy ryan never won a playoff game but he built one of the nfl's best defenses. he was the embodiment of what we used to refer to as the 700 level fans. he was in three words in your face. >> reporter: butddy ryan was bod and brash. he said you have a winner in town. >> i get along with everybody as long as they do things my way. >> what kind of player is a buddy ryan player. >> he knocks everybody down. >> reporter: he went after the dallas cowboys and the fans loved how he stood up to the hated cowboys and beat them. >> we like to kick dallas ass. >> i would have said something

to buddy but he wouldn't stand  on the field long enough. he put his big fat rear end in the dressing room. >> i recent that. i've been on a diet and i thought i looked good. >> reporter: there will never be another coach like him. he was tough on his players but he loved them with. >> i had a couch who didn't care what everybody else thought. he was more concerned about us like children and that was a blessing. >> buddy is a blue collar guy i thought everybody could relate to. he could be like your uncle or -- that uncle ned that everybody talks about, he could be that guy. >> reporter: buddy said things people in philly wish they could say. he called his boss that guy in france because he vacationed a lot there. didn't back down to anybody. we'll have more in sports. >> the ultimate players coach and that was no more evident when his birds made a rap to

thanks. we lucked out with rain if you like that. >> some people need the rain for your lawns especially in northern portions of the area. it was a fairly stormy afternoon up to the north. north of allentown, lee high valley. we have leftover showers toward trenton. some of this is heavy from abbington across to the pennsylvania turnpike. they're getting hit hard. that's the first rain of the day. we've got a nice wednesday and thursday coming and then things are going to be changing. here we go, thursday afternoon, everything is nice and quiet. a couple of really nice days here. and then we have the moisture building up. friday, that's when we're getting the next round. not so much in the morning, but in the afternoon and into the early evening we get some

showers and thunderstorms there. but that is going to be it pretty much. we've got two great days and then the friday thunderstorms as temperatures go up. a couple of days with relatively low hoim here. we have 84 for the high and lots of sunshine. low humidity, that's really nice. jersey shore nice too. some afternoon showers and thunderstorms on friday. what about the weekend? it's looking good too. 90 degrees on saturday. it's going to be hot, above average temperatures for much of the holiday, but the humidity is going to be much lower than what we saw today, even at the jersey shore we're talking about comfortable weather. the only places will be closer to the front that's going to be coming through that i'm going have to watch very closely over the next couple of days to see if that is going to stay to our

south. there we are, the beautiful couple of days there. the friday afternoon showers and thunderstorms, saturday hot, but rain free, sunday is looking good. and then 4th of july that's looking nice too at the moment. the humidity not too high but the temperatures start going up next week after the 4th of july we could reach the mid 90s at some point next week. a special thank you from the united way tonight. some of the strongest supporters, nbc 10 was on hand for the event. denise interviewed an iron chef in front of a crowd of about 200 people. the event was to thank those in attendance for their commitment. there was a book signing for the crowd. celebrating the unique bond between children and animals

tonight. the best friends bash event this evening. this is where patients from the children's hospital of philadelphia got to meet dogs facing similar conditions. organizers say this form of pet therapy helps the kids learn how to adapt. sports is next.

i'm john clark. eagle fans are mourning the loss of buddy ryan. he was 85 years old. he coached the eagles and one of the best defenses for five seasons. his defense embody the attitude of philly.

he never won a playoff game but he connected with fans for how bold and brash he was. he stood up to the cowboys. he ran up the score on them in a game two and then there was the body bag game and he had a special relationship with his players. >> the beautiful thing was we had an opportunity to fly down to louisville and spend two days. so it's amazing how things work out sometimes. you get an opportunity to see him on this side for a final time and a special just to be with him and let him know that we loved him and he certainly shared the love back with us. >> he was our buddy. the coaching world lost pat summit. she won more games than any woman or man. she never had a losing season in 38 years of coaching.

she had a 100% graduation rate with her players. here is the women's basketball coach, he lost a dear friend. >> i knew pat for a long time. i visited her the last couple of years, watching her deteriorate. it was very difficult. >> the basketball part is easy. we all know that. knowing her the other way -- knowing her the other way makes it harder for me now. >> very emotional. phillies taking on the diamondbacks tonight. the partnershiper took the singles and the phillies have a 1-0 lead.

kick check of weather. some rain in our area. we have showers around but that's going to be moving out and they're already starting to move out moving toward the trenton area and in through central new jersey. that's going to set us up for a couple of nice days and then thunderstorms friday and then look at that holiday weekend forecast. right now it's looking really nice across much of the area. relatively low humidity but once we get past the 4th i think the temperatures are going to go back up and we could be sitting in the mid 90s by the middle of
