nbc 10 news starts now. cab driver stabbed. new from overnight, a routine pick up suddenly turned violent in camden. this morning, the istanbul airport is back open after terrorists opened fire and blew themselves up, killing dozens in turkey. fox chase cancer center in northeast philadelphia will join in the ongoing national effort to cure cancer. 4:00 a.m., good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert neighborhood forecast. a close look at conditions at communities across pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. we had a night of rain, bill. >> yes. that moisture is still affecting us in the form of fog.

a lot of rainfall fell, especially in pennsylvania. that's where we're seeing thick fog develop as cooler temperatures start to move into the area. visibility under two miles in allentown. light visibility, not bad. light fog in coatesville and blue bell. trenton under one mile visibility and down to six miles in millville. a bit of fog to start with. we have sunshine on the way. 68 degrees, clearing in delaware. lehigh valley is 64 and it's in the low 70s and falling in philadelphia. that temperature will likely come down a bit more before it goes up. into the middle to upper 80s this afternoon. as skies clear out, the humidity will come down. any fog that's around first thing this morning disappears as we go through the day. 81 at the shore. it looks like we're good for today but there are changes ahead. we'll go through the forecast hour by hour when i'm back in ten minutes. let's check in with jessica boyington and the traffic.

>> we're watching the vine street expressway of course through center city. these are our cameras around 24th street. no traffic moving. every once in a while on the westbound side we are seeing a vehicle come through. it looks like the construction is in place for the most part. local vine is your best bet for an alternate. we'll keep you updated for the rest of the morning. upper dublin, an accident on prospect and 4th avenue. there were lane restrictions earlier for an accident investigation on route 73. there's no backup or delay. maybe use caution as you head out the door there for the lane restrictions. tracy? camden police are searching for whoever robbed and stabbed a cab driver. katy zachry is live at cooper hospital with more. katy, strangers jumped in and helped the driver. walk us through what happened. >> tracy, that's exactly right.

it took a lot of courage for those strangers, these people we spoke to do what they did. it was a little before midnight, they were sitting outside their apartment complex when all of a sudden, a cab came careening ì!%q a parked car.complex and from inside the cab, they heard screams. these witnesses ran to help the cab driver. someone in the cab's back seat took off running. the driver was stabbed in the chest. he had also been robbed. a woman said she got the injured driver into her car and drove him here to cooper university hospital. back out here live. this all happened within a few blocks of where we're standing, outside the hospital. the cab driver who was injured, got stabbed in the chest got here quickly. he's in surgery right now. i have asked police about their search into the person who did

this. i'll be back with a live update in another half hour. 72 degrees outsite, 4:04. the istanbul airport is back open less than 24 hours after a deadly terrorist attack. here's what we know right now. at least 36 people are dead. 147 people hurt in an attack by three suicide bombers. turkey's prime minister says his security forces believe isis is responsible. he says the suicide bombers arrived at the airport in a taxi, opened fire and then blew themselves up. the airport bombing is sending shockwaves through the turkish community in philadelphia. nbc 10 spoke to someone who has family in istanbul. he just moved to philadelphia from istanbul just last week and says he used that airport that was attacked. >> the one who has been killed by the bombs could be my family as well. could be my daughter, my wife, could be myself.

heading in from the west. we'll be out of the shower activity, already clearing off to the north and west and cooler air is coming in but that's allowing fog to form morning. it won't last. we'll clear out and get a nice sunny day today. more to come. for today, temperatures climb into the 80s. starting off at 70 degrees at 7:00. near 80 by later in the morning and 84 degrees at lunch time for philadelphia. the suburbs, no sign of the clouds. they're out of here. 77 degrees at 11:00 this important and into the 80s for the lehigh valley. storms will not repeat and any fog around this morning in the suburbs and the lehigh valley will quickly disappear with those rising temperatures. delaware, 79 degrees at 11:00, 80s this afternoon. and the shore seeing some showers right now. the clouds will thin out, 80 at 11:00 and inland new jersey will be in the 80s at 11:00, warming into the middle 80s for both locations later today. dry today but there is some wet weather in our future but it's

going to wait until the end of the week. look how nicely it clears out. the clouds are moving out from philadelphia, wilmington, trenton. a few scattered clouds at lunch time showing an isolated shower is possible a sprinkle, more likely we'll stay dry today. we'll look at the ten-day forecast when i'm back in ten minutes. tracy? let's take a look at the schuylkill, let's get you to work. but i see flashing lights. jessica says, no, not smooth sailing. >> this is an accident scene on the schuylkill around spring garden street facing girard avenue. headed westbound, coming out of the city, you can see the flashing lights. it's still dark outside. it's a little hard to see. all lanes seem to be blocked but every once in a while we see a car move through the area. we will keep monitoring the

4:13 and 72 degrees outside on this wednesday morning. newly released surveillance video shows the moments within a man with a gun was shot on white house grounds. and the caution here, one of the scenes is pretty graphic. last month a 31-year-old schuylkill county man walked towards the white house carrying a hand gun. secret service officers told jesse olivieri to stop and drop the gun. he ignored that and kept walking. his lawyer asked that he be released to home detention until his trial. the judge said no because he is a danger to the community. happening today, bill cosby could lose another honorary degree.

this time, the board of trustees at the university of connecticut will vote on revoking cosby's award. the university provost voted to take back the degree. the comedian denied all the allegations. he'll stand trial for sexually assaulting a woman at his philadelphia home in 2004. ç protests in center city philadelphia ends with police using saws to remove demonstrators. yesterday, a group of 40 demonstrators blocked cars from the 676 exit ramp in center city. one group of police officers rerouted the cars trapped on the ramp. the other group of officers worked with saws to remove the pvc pipe and chains linking the demonstrators' arms. it was in response to a ruling that sent a case over obama's

immigration reform back to the lower court. >> without the passing of that plan by the supreme court, we have to escalate and make sure our voices are heard. >> police say their priority was the safety of the demonstrators while they worked with saws to remove the pvc pipes and chains linking their arms. five people were arrested. legendary former eagles coach buddy ryan is gone but his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his players and fans. the head line reads "our buddy, our pal." he's known as the architect of one of the greatest nfl defenses of all time. ryan became head coach of the eagles taking them to the playoffs in three of his five seasons. nbc 10's vai sikahema talked with former eagles quarterback and teammate randall cunningham from las vegas and cunningham spoke about the special

a program lets parents keep a constant eye on their newborns. matt delucia is at st. mary's. matt? >> they got a $5,000 grant to install these cameras in the nicu. this is called angel eye. a woman from our area has been on a mission to get these cameras in every hospital they can. kelly gallagher started this superhero project two years ago after the birth of their twin boys. she researched a way for parents to keep an eye on their newborns anytime they want. she started with holy redeemer hospital this past april with 15 cameras there. i think in 10, 15 years it will be the standard basic care. then they realize it's not just mom or dad, it's the entire family, these cameras will change the way that health care

is served. >> almost all of the funding for this comes from çdonations. sometimes online. other times in person, at benefits. coming up at 5:15, i spoke with a mother who just gave birth to a new baby boy. she got the full advantage of using part of these cameras when her son was born premature. we'll hear from her coming up in the next hour. live in langhorne, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. 4:18. temperatures in the 70s, 72 degrees here at nbc 10. still clouds over rehoboth beach. the rain has moved out. and there's a bit of fog forming, light fog for wildwood, millville, tom's river has half a mile visibility. it's under a mile for trenton right now. temperatures cooling. 70s to start with for philadelphia, south jersey and the jersey shore. it's already clearing out for the lehigh valley, the suburbs and delaware. you'll likely see some areas of fog to start with this morning.

the temperatures could go lower. it's right now 62 degrees. white hall is 63 and fleetwood also in the 60s. the last of the showers, that's in cape may. those won't last long. the heavy storms have moved out to sea. we'll be in the clear for today. actually the next couple days. we'll see sunshine and it's time for summer heat. riding into the area behind those showers we had last night is dry air. meantime, to the south, that's where you'll find moisture and over the next couple days, you see the showers that take shape to the south. eventually those will be moving into the area. first thing friday morning, that's 8:30 friday morning, you can see the wet weather returns to pennsylvania and maryland and this will be moving in by midday on friday. we could see some showers continue into the afternoon hours with heavy downpours for friday. then we'll be clearing out for most of the holiday weekend. today, sunny and warm. fog disappears, 87 degrees this afternoon.

warmer tomorrow with bright sunshine and then those showers arriving around midday on friday, near 90 degrees friday afternoon. showers, done by saturday. it's looking good, sunday, too, 86 degrees the high temperature. the fourth of july, sunny skies and 88. and then we are into the heat and humidity. typical of july. 90 degrees on tuesday, middle 90s for wednesday and thursday and friday at 93 degrees. we have a heat wave brewing next week but a really nice day today with sunshine and the humidity coming down. tracy? >> sounds great. thanks, bill. 20 minutes past 4:00 right now. we continue to focus on the schuylkill expressway westbound. jessica boyington is watching that accident. remind us where it is, jessica. >> we're watching the schuylkill around girard avenue. we're seeing improvements already than we did 10 or 15 minutes ago. one car at a time would trickle through. it's headed westbound. coming out of the city, we're doing better. more traffic is allowed to flow through the area the police activity is pushed over into the
