"first alert" traffic. >> we're watching broad street and the schuylkill express. right around broad street. you see approaching the scene we do have police activity there. blocking the westbound side all traffic hand diverted off the off-ramp to broad street. no access, full access from schuylkill expressway to the vine. take local vine as your alternate. the rest of the majors are looking just okay with drive tiles, no big problems or delays in the schuylkill or 95 in center city. and the blue route from schuylkill to 95 is about a 15-minute trip. checking into area bridges, some construction there over the walt whitman bridge two lanes heading westbound into philadelphia. and watch for construction over the tacony-palmyra, tracy. happening today, a vote could change driving habits across the area. for decades, new jersey has had

the cheapest gas. the gas tax hike could cost drivers an extra $100 at the pump. it's the state senate's turn to vote on it. supporters say the tax hike will pump much needed money into the state transportation trust fund to repair roads and bridges. now, the proposal also calls for cutting the state sales tax from 7% to 6%. that could save an average family more than $400 a year. today, a man could learn his fate for kidnapping a woman off a street. it is a case that made national headlines. cameras caught the 2014 abduction on video. you see delham barnes dragging the woman off. and barnes pleaded guilty, he's sentenced today and could get up to 35 years in prison. this morning, the family of

a 13-year-old killed on wednesday wants to know where he and his friends got the gun that they are playing with. police are calling it an accidental shooting. they say a group of teenagers was playing with a gun when it went off and hit the 13-year-old in the head. they did find the gun nearby. neighbors were there and watched as the teen's father rushed over to see what happened. >> i ran, i seen him back there. i went to look at his dad. his dad tried picking him up. it was gory. >> this child didn't even get a chance to realize his dreams. >> police tell us the person who was holding the gun when it went off was 17. police have not arrested or charged anyone. this is the second accidental deadly shooting in the past week. last thursday, a 4-year-old died after accidentally shooting herself at a home in philadelphia. the girl's mother is charged with mother and just this week, we checked with police and

they're still searching for the mother's boyfriend who could also be charged. drexel hill fitness had a crossfit workout and fund-raiser last night. the owner of the gym came up with the idea bass she grew up a few blocks away from there. all the funds are going to help chris dorman. clancy is from delaware county and he asked to meet with dorman so he could thank him for his service and simply tell him he's awesome. dorman also posed for pictures with two officers who helped save his life. sergeant william baer on the right drove dorman to the hospital. the dipietro shot the man.

they've been unloading the trucks bringing in the ingredients, the rolls, the meats, the veggies. this is all about the wawa welcome america celebration. about noon today a five-ton hoagie will be marched in from wawa associates and it will be served to the crowd free of charge. if you're wondering how much is five tons in terms of individual hoagies. that would be about 23,000. on top of that, today, you get admission to the national constitution center and all the exhibits inside. >> we think it's completely appropriate that we're able to open our doors and share that with as many visitors as possible during independence week. >> reporter: with the bread, the oil, the condiments. you might notice, it's clear right now. they've got the boxes.

quarter after 4:00 right now. a man is recovering after being grazed by a bullet in camden. crime scene tape sections areas off where it happened right after 3:30 this morning on moore street. police so many should be focused on a car parked on the street. we do have more information from people from pennsylvania arrested with guns in their truck at the holland tunnel. a judge has denied her request to reduce their bail john smith and lee smith and kimberly bail each. they told police they were going to rescue a 16-year-old girl whose friend had just overdosed on heroin. they found shotguns and high assault rifle. the situation could have turned

ugly. >> there are also problems with situations like that. >> cramcy's 20-year-old daughter died from heroin overdose. turkish officials say more evidence points to isis but so far there's been no claim of responsibility. we do know how the clear time line of tuesday's attack. one of the suicide bombers went into the terminal, opened fire then blew himself up at the arrivals terminal. the second went upstairs to the departure level and blew himself up. and the third waited outside and detonated his explosives as people ran out of the airport in panic. aviation expert tom costello is looking into how the attack could make airports safer here in the u.s. >> reporter: hello from reagan national airport here in washington. we've now had two major attacks on major airports in the last

three months. the question here this morning is whether we in the states can learn from the attacks and operations overseas. in instan bull, police officers were at the doors at the terminal, that may have prevented the terrorists from penetrating deeper into the airport. could we apply that here at the 450 airports in the united states? they screen nearly 2 million people every single day. it's a huge challenge but can some of those lessons be applied here. we'll have that coming up on "today." in other news, millions of unwelcome pests have plagued the area southwest of harrisburg. check this out. people in susquehanna valley in york county are dealing with a massive swarm of may flies. they started showing up covering homes and cars one man used his leaf blower to get rid of them. >> sounds like sleet was hitting my car. >> reporter: it wasn't sleet?

council days after he died. this is video of ali in philadelphia last september receiving the liberty medal for his humanitarian efforts. ali passed away last month as you so after a 32-year battle with parkinson's disease. an olympic dream was cut short, reece whitley finished seventh in the 200-meet breaststroke last night. only the top four from each heat advanced to the final. that was his first olympic trial. the 6'8", 16-year-old just finished his sophomore year. now michael phelps is celebrating his 31st birthday today after making history last night. he became the first american swim to qualify for five olympics. phelps is the most decorated athlete in history and will be looking for more medals in rio.
