middle of the afternoon, things have really quieted down. in our pennsylvania counties. new jersey, that's a different story. parts of south jersey, getting some very serious weather now. this red indicates a flash flood warning, and we also have a severe thunderstorm warning in the yellow here. that goes into atlantic county until 6:15. egg harbor, galloway township, strong, gusty winds. this flash flood warning goes until 8:45 p.m. and there's been a considerable amount of flooding through down sou south -- >> we've lost glenn's microphone there. be assured our team of meteorologists is going to continue to track these storms. glenn is going to have another update coming up in just a few minutes. you can always get updates on

your neighborhood forecast anytime. how do you do that? you just tap on the nbc 10 app. again, we're watching severe storms moving through parts of our area. all this coming at the holiday weekend, officially here now. >> that means people are kicking off the fourth of july celebration everywhere from the jersey shore. the delaware beaches and right here in our nation's birthplace. these roller skaters will get a great view of tonight's wawa welcome america's fireworks show over penn's landing. >> we begin with brandon hudson who's live at penn's landing. brand brandon, fireworks show isn't the only thing tonight, right? >> reporter: we saw people out here with their umbrellas. you can look over my right and see some roller skating rink. people skating there. how is it going? how are you doing? this whole complex is like a huge playground. you have people playing corn hol. you have connect 4 and putt putt

golf. if you're a kid, it's the place to be. if you're an adult, it makes you feel like a kid again. you see a lot of people out here trying to beat the crowds. a little overcast, but still a good day to roll down to the blue cross river rink, even with a sprinkle or two. while groups of kids laced up their skates for a lap around the rink, we met howard with umbrella in hand. >> i noticed the sky was overcast. i just take my umbrella and still let the kids come out. >> the rain is not going to keep you away until the end of the day? >> if it gets hard. >> reporter: a few minutes after we spoke to her, the skies opened. a quick shower moved through penn's landing. but it wasn't enough to make people leave. several of them said it was nice to get here ahead of the crowds expected for the concert and fireworks tonight. >> always a lot of people here. >> reporter: mosht people in philly are here to celebrate independence day, we met some

many people are headed out of town this holiday weekend. a live like at 76 and the vine street expressway. this time yesterday, the traffic was bad. so maybe a lot of people got out of town yesterday to beat the rush. pretty clear out there. and depending where you are, the shore is busy in some areas right now. >> cydney long is checking it out live for us in ocean city once again. a lot of fun activities to look forward to this weekend, right? >> reporter: jim and jackie, there's a little shortage of sun, but definitely no shortage of fun out here on ocean city boardwalk. a ton of new places to visit. things to eat. bumper to bumper with families as you can see. tomorrow night the beatle mania concert. sunday night ocean city pops. see it right here, that attraction never changes. this 2-year-old is getting his toes in the sand for the first time, visiting from colorado.

>> i missed it the first time. >> reporter: wearing his sun shirt, he will carry on a fourth of july family holiday weekend tradition. >> i think we're going to just do the ocean. we'll do some steaks on the grill. whatever the kids want to do. >> reporter: the sights and sounds will have the white family from san antonio back here for summers to come. it's their first time. with guitar by the surf, a little sleep, or family soccer time by the jetty. oh, and the boardwalk? well, they're sold. >> we have young kids. it's nice to be able to walk up and down and enjoy it as a family. the beach is prettier than the texas beach, i have to admit. >> reporter: this is a new mirror maze james bond laser-like exhibit. they say it couldn't be a better weekend to kick off with all of the fourth of july crowds. >> they're going to be here for the fireworks. they'll just come up and be able to play games, play golf. it's just a really good

holiday weekend scene in atlantic city. nbc 10 was on the boardwalk this morning when union workers at the trump taj mahal casino went on strike. the union said it could not reach an agreement on a new contract. it's looking for concessions that were made during tougher times to be restored. happening now, a community is coming together to remember a young girl who accidently shot herself last week. this is a live look at a vigilance getting under way in north philadelphia for the 4-year-old. last night her mother's boyfriend surrendered to police. we're working to find out the charges he's facing. the child's mother is charged with third-degree murder. police say she tried to cover up what happened. new at 6:00, from decision 2016, a contest will determine who will place hillary clinton's name in nomination for president at the democratic national convention in philadelphia. her campaign says you can submit a video touching on why

clinton's election is important. tap the nbc 10 app for a link to the clinton web page for more information. we just learned minutes ago hillary clinton will campaign in atlantic city next wednesday. the nation's top prosecutor now says she will agree with criminal charges for hillary clinton. if that's what her team recommends. attorney general loretta lynch spoke about her decision in aspen, colorado, today. her announcement came after yesterday's impromptu meeting with former president bill clinton at the phoenix airport. lynch acknowledged that the meeting looked bad. >> important to make it clear that that meeting with president clinton does not have a bearing on how this matter is going to be reviewed, resolved, and accepted by me. >> lynch called the meeting a social chat. the justice department is looking into hillary clinton's handling of classified e-mails while the democratic presidential candidate was secretary of state. presumptive republican

nominee donald trump joined sarah palin in blasting clinton at a conservative summit in denver today. they accused the justice department of protecting her. >> to have a thing like that happen is so sad. and as you know, hillary is so guilty. she's so guilty. you can read them right off here. >> trump said bill clinton's meeting with loretta lynch opened up what he called a pandora's box in the matter. november 8th, that's election day. it will also be the day for a special election to fill fatah's seat in congress. today pennsylvania governor tom wolf ordered the special election. fatah resigned from congress last month after a jury convicted him on federal corruption charges. the democrat held his seat in congress for more than 20 years. red, white and blue, somebody out there might be seeing quite a bit of green. >> oh, yeah. tonight's mega millions drawing has reached $415 million. that's the tenth largest jackpot

hundreds of breathalyzer tests in dui cases could be thrown out. this, after an expired solution was used to test the machines. now it's giving lawyers a strong argument that could drastically lessen their clients' penalties. >> aundrea cline-thomas tells us what police plan to do about it. >> reporter: hundreds of dui cases in philadelphia are under review by the district attorney. it comes after learning the police department used an expired solution in january to test the breathalyzer machines. the tests are conducted during routine maintenance a couple of times a year. >> i'm not a physicist, but i would expect if you use an expired solution, the machine will be invalid. >> reporter: that's at least the argument kelly plans to make to a judge when asking to have breathalyzer tests thrown out for at least 80 of his clients. kelly discovered the problem on wednesday and notified police. >> the machines were pulled out of service and immediately

tested again. with no issue. >> reporter: police still stand by the accuracy of its breathalyzer results given over the past six months. despite the expired solution being used during the test. >> the machine itself is still accurately reading and calculating. it's just the solution was used in the testing process. >> reporter: more oversight will keep this from happening again. questions about the validity of the tests will be up to a judge. >> people's freedom is taken. it's pretty serious. you have to get it right. >> reporter: aundrea cline-thomas, nbc 10 news. an open-door policy allows anyone to come to the police station and tell police they're an addict. instead of getting arrested, police will take their drugs away and make sure that person gets treatment. police are hoping this will

reduce the number of drug overdoses in the state. it's been years, but montgomery county community finally has its bridge back. the new ar c.o.l.a. road bridge reopened this afternoon located. the deteriorating bridge was closed for three years for repairs. neighbors had complained the detour made even simple trips complicated. now, your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather, with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> while the weather has improved dramatically from the philadelphia area north and west, all in pennsylvania, parts of new jersey, the weather conditions continue to deteriorate. we have a flash flood warning for parts of south jersey. vineland down to millville and cedarville. there have been tremendous amounts of rain. flash flood warning until at least 8:45 tonight.

this is a picture sent in from a viewer. kest nut avenue in vineland. route 55, a major route toward the shore, toward cape may county, flooded in parts of the area. and it's still coming down. look at this. what's going on here. we've got the sea breeze meeting the northwest wind, and so this zone of moisture has not been moving much. it's still right over vineland. and the amount of rain just continues to pile up. this is the radar estimate. and three to four inches, one report of over five between millville and vineland itself. and that's a populated area. we're not talking about the pine barrens here. you can see another cluster of storms going across the atlantic city expressway, or egg harbor city. that will be going out toward little egg harbor in the next couple of hours.

in delaware, this cluster of storms near chesapeake bay in maryland, that may be moving into central delaware within the next hour or two. but in the meantime, it's just about dry from philadelphia north and west. now, we could see an isolated shower popping up in the next hour or two. but really, it is looking pretty good. so at the most, a shower at the start of the concert, and then conditions improving as we go through the night tonight. and then we watch the south to see moisture streaming from west to east, as we go into monday, the fourth of july itself. the best chance of rain from philadelphia southward, or actually south of philadelphia. so that for the moment, we're just keeping it cloudy for philly and bringing the rain in to delaware, and south jersey. and so that is going to be the issue for the weekend.
