right now at 6, a delaware county couple dies right by their front door, trying to escape their burning home. a propane tank explosion from a cooking accident sent flames ripping through their house in morten. good evening. i'm lauren mayk. randy gillen hall joins us outside of the hoagie shop they owned in springfield. >> this couple was well known here in delaware county. they owned both a catering couple as well as the slack's hoagie shack here on baltimore pike which is now closed so employees can mourn this loss.

authorities say this husband and wife had been using a meat smoker on their back deck when it sparked a deadly blaze. investigators say this fire spread fast starting near the back deck and quickly consuming the couple's home. neighbors heard an explosion as propane tanks ruptured. >> there was heavy flames from the rear of the property. the police were at the front door advising that the two victims were right inside the door at the bottom of the steps. >> the couple had gone to sleep last night after setting up that meat smoker and woke up hours later to an inferno. >> it is my belief that they were trying to get out of the house and unfortunately succu succumbed to the smoke and got pushed to the ground and rendered unconscious. >> theodore and barbara fine were pronounced dead at the scene. both are beloved in the community, owners of a local catering company. >> without a doubt, the best hoagies in the area.

customers called it a tragedy. >> it is really sad because, you know, that anybody should die in a fire is a horrible thing. >> the two were cornerstones of community. >> the fire chief says they were always generous, often providing dinner to first responders. >> you know, getting meals for the guys after a big fire the numerous donations they had given to the burrough, the police department and the fire department over the years, this is a huge loss felt throughout the community. >> reporter: the cause of this fire has been ruled accidental. the fire chief tells us if you plan to doing any grills this weekend, make sure you do it away from your house and deck, keep an extinguisher nearby and always keep a watch on it. rapidy gyllenhall, nbc 10 news. breaking news out of atlantic county tonight, the coast guard is on the scene of a deadly boating accident. police in summers point tell us at least one person has been killed in the incident in

patcong creek. police responded to the incident 90 minutes ago. we'll keep following this story and bring you more information as we get it. new at 6, you can be dealing with a big change to your morning commute come tuesday morning. septa is taking more than 100 of the newest regional train cars off of the rails because of what it calls a structural defect. septa is inspecting and repairing all of the 120 silver liner five regional rail cars. that is about a third of the regional fleet. septa promises the outage will not disrupt service for monday's fourth of july holiday and we'll get an update from septa tomorrow on plans to accommodate riders going back to work on tuesday. also new at 6, police say a man died while trying to catch a septa bus in west philadelphia. it happened near belmont and girard this afternoon. investigators say the 71-year-old man was running after the bus when he got caught on a rear tire. he was pulled underneath the bus

and killed. now to a developing story in the political world. hillary clinton was questioned by the fbi this morning in a long awaited interview over her e-mail scandal. the democratic presidential candidate voluntarily did the interview according to her campaign. she came to fbi headquarters in washington d.c. she talked about her use of her private e-mail server during her time as secretary of state. the fbi is looking into whether she broke any laws. this all comes 23 days before the democratic national convention where clinton is expected to officially become the democratic presidential nominee. the dnc starts right here in philadelphia on july 25th. today, donald trump sent out this tweet calling clinton, quote, the most corrupt candidate ever but he later deleted it after back lash about it being anti-sematic because it used the star of david. he tweeted it out again later with a circumstanle instead of .

new information tonight in the case of a 4-year-old girl who shot herself to death in her north philadelphia home last week. today, the boyfriend of the little girl's mother, demetrius williams faces an involuntary manslaughter charge as well as weapons violations. police say williams illegally owned the gun that killed 4-year-old sani holmes. her mother, shakeya holmes is

charged with murder, manslaughter and child endangerment. she lied to investigators about the gun. holmes and her boyfriend are in jail without bail. a celebration of life service was held for the little girl today. it happened at united missionary baptist church. she is being buried in feasterville. new at 6, neighbors in the winfield section of philadelphia took matters into their own hands to restore an important piece of american history. the wnyyfield restaurant has been neglected for too long. they rolled up their sleeves and got busy upgrading the memorial with fresh mulch, flowers and shrubs. they say it is the least they can do to honor the heros this weekend. >> philadelphia is celebrating the fourth like only the birth place of this nation can. it will be on display. at the independence day parade

where we should be. temperatures on the cool side. we do have sunshine. we'll take you to interior south jersey to show you current temperatures right now and cooling off quite nicely. look at this. 74 degrees right now in piney hollow, 75 in clayton. warmer in hamilton, 78 degrees but cooler in princeton at 74 degrees. and down along the shoreline, not doing too badlbadly. hearing from folks. nhtoday.from folks. we had plenty of sunshine. we're dry. we have a warm front that sagged over the mid atlantic and we'll keep an eye on that. dry for now but as we go wider here with radar, we can show you what we're keeping a close eye on. low pressure system that is expected to ride along that frontal boundary as it moves to the north so what does that mean? high pressure in play brought us all of the sunny skies today and the drier conditions but that high is going to move off of the coast as we move on through time. so here is the fourth of july

10:00 a.m., we do have precipitation knocking at the back door. the way it is looking right now, there is potential for south and east to get shower activity on the fourth of july. it could be as early as midday as it moves in and then by 10:00 monday night, looking like rain to sort of over spread the area. this is this particular model. we're still watching it but it might be smart to have the umbrellas handy monday and then some rain monday night into early tuesday. for tomorrow, we are looking for a mainly dry day. extremely delaware, tomorrow morning, could wake up to a light shower but just about everywhere else we are looking to be dry. temperatures not doing too badly and a little cloudier as we get down to the further southern point tomorrow. so sunshine and clouds as we go ahead and check your planner for the fourth of july, as i mentioned, right now anyway, the parade is looking okay with clouds, but then as we move through the afternoon, we do
