be on the line where several trains are delayed including one that's a half hour late. >> monique paxton has more on the impact it's having on them. what's the latest? >> reporter: just in the past 15 or 20 minutes the crowd has grown here tremendously down inside suburban station. folks are checking the boards to see if their alternative mode of transportation is on fine. follow me, sam. . they're ready to post the identifying markers to let people know which trains are running and where they should line up. in the meantime, getting to work this morning was a challenge.

>> for now the train will run on saturday with extra trains scheduled in the morning and evening. >> reporter: it's the message septa's passengers are hearing while waiting for trains on crowded platforms. septa tells us it could take two months to fix a defect. in the meantime the transit agency has pulled one third of its trains off the tracks. >> i'm glad they found the problem early enough, you know. that's the good thing about it. >> reporter: on this the first hour since modified service began, we found some trains jammed to capacity. while somes stopped, others passed the waiting riders. some commuter told us they woke up with a plan. >> you had a plan and that plan was to drive this morning.

passes for july. you can watch us live on the nbc 10 app and get septa's schedules and routes plus alternate travel options. now back to the fbi's announcement that it's recommending no criminal charges for hillary clinton. nbc 10's denise nakano is joining us live in studio to explain the findings of the investigation. >> james comey said hillary clinton was extremely careless for the way she handled sensitive information during the time she was secretary of state. he stopped short issuing criminal prosecution. he said it didn't appear any work-related e-mails were intentionally deleted in an effort to conceal them. the fbi sifted through some 30,000 e-mails that clinton provided to the state department.

he said the dpgs was honest and independent using only the facts. >> no outside influence of any kind was brought to bear. i know there were many opinions expressed by people who were not part of the dpgs including people in deposit, but none of that mattered to us. >> reporter: a clinton campaign spokesman said we're pleased that the career officials handling this case have determine thad no further action by the department is appropriate. now donald trump weighing in was quick to respond. he tweeted, the system is rigged. general petraeus got in trouble for far less. very, very unfair. as usual. bad judgment. director comey said no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges against clinton in this case. coming up at 5:00, we'll have a local prosecutor in house to see if that truly is the case. denise nakano, "nbc 10 news."

degrees outside. but you know what i noticed? the rain has stopped? >> oh, yeah. it was kind of wet. >> we were outside a lot yesterday down on the ben franklin parkway with the fireworks. rainy, soggy night. but now the heat is on. >> glenn warned us of showers. he's back. glenn. >> i'm here to warn you about the heat. i don't know if you want to be outside on thursday and friday when it feels like 100 degrees or more. that's why there's an excessive heat watch for much of the area. it's going to get significantly hotter tomorrow than today, but the worst is going to come. 88 in parts of new jersey. 87 in delaware. so the temperature quite a bit higher than what we saw yesterday when the high was only 80 degrees. and it was 78 on sunday. you can see all these temperatures well up into the

80s and close to 90 degrees. medford, 90 degrees. we're going to be seeing a whole lot of those. oug autobahn, 88. 87 in hamilton. a little more comfortable here at 84. here's the way the temperatures are going go as we head through the evening. of course, we're going to be dry. temperatures in the 70s. it's going to get hot and humid tomorrow. by 5:00, we've got some readings into the mid-90s. temperature mid-90s. and then it gets hotter. more on that coming in a few minutes. >> okay. glenn, we'll get back with you. a shooting at a park sent a man to the hospital.

the 21-year-old man shot in the stomach around noontime. the police blocked some streets in the area. they haven't said if they're still searching for the shooter. >> that is the victim last tuesday morning. three men come from behind. one of them knocks him to the ground with a blind-side punch as you see. all three continue to punch and kick him while stealing his phone and wallet. call philadelphia police if you know anything about this crime or you recognize individuals from that surveillance. new at 4:00, man who may have tried to kidnap two women in separate incidents. take a good look at this surveillance video from the main towers. at the very top of your screen,

you can see a man walking through a parking lot early yesterday morning shortly before the second abduction. both women were able to fight off that attacker. too scared to go to sleep as the police search for arsonists. many worry their house could be next. we have new information on this flurry of fires. what did you find out, cydney? >> reporter: the fire department is stretched to the limit. he wants the public to keep an eye out especially in alleyways and any backyards of these vacant homes. >> it was scary. >> this 8-year-old has had a

hard time sleeping the last two nights. she fears her home could be next. >> i was so scared. >> reporter: she lives on princess avenue near this abandoned home. it was one intentionally set on fire. they caught this commotion on cell phone video. >> this person who lit this fire put a lot of people in jeopardy. >> reporter: police say the arsonist or several of them are gaining access through back windows and there are multiple points of ignition. >> we don't want any of our residents to get injured or god forbid killed. >> reporter: henderson secured his building. >> it could have been a catastrophe. had it happened at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning it could have been worse.

long, "nbc 10 news." this man turned himself in. they walked into the bay side center. police are still looking for the other men. they made threatening statements to a worker at the welcome center sunday afternoon and because of those statements the band postponed their delaware concert later that night. the band perry was set to perform sunday night. the authorities haven't said what those threatened statements were that caused the show to be postponed. the group has yet to announce when the concert will be rescheduled. today mayor jim kenney announced the ban would be can drawn. in part to help combat potential health risks bus they issued an

injunctions after it. now they're asking both be dismissed. from our jersey shore beer rowe, it's all systems go on the beach of wildwood that's taking place next weekend. they're setting the stage for the beach glow. they're expecting 7,000 people. it kicks off friday. despite objections from other wildwood businesses. they filed a lawsuit to block the festival after previous problems. but a judge rules that concert could go on. >> and after a big party on the parkway comes the equally big cleanup. street cleans were up and crews spent the early morning hours packing everything away. in just a few hours you can watch an encore presentation of the fun on the parkway on nbc

wave. the hottest we've gotten this season so far is only 92. so this going to be quite a jum frp what we've seen. during the day tomorrow, fair mount, 94 degrees. berwyn, 94. allentown, 92. so it's going to be 90-plus just about everywhere across the area. maybe a little bit below right at the beaches. you'll get a late afternoon sea parise after warming up in atlantic city and avalon at 86. rehoboth beach at 89. they could touch 0 degrees as well at the delaware beaches. the forecast is basically dry despite the temperatures going up until thursday when we should see at least some scattered showers and thunderstorms building up. some of them perhaps on the heavier side. after all that heat, you might be hoping for some rain to cool off. and then here comes friday. we expect another batch to be developing there.
