delaware. >> it's continuing for today. suburbs of northern delaware all can expect that extreme heat until 6:00 p.m. today. we expect temperatures in the 90s. it's going to feel like triple digits again. and right now in philadelphia, we're already at 80 degrees. we had another day in the 90s yesterday, and we didn't drop too much overnight. 79 in dover, 76 in trenton, and it continues to heat up. many areas will be in the mid-90s but feeling like triple digits. we'll talk more about the chance for thunderstorms coming up. let's looked a the roadways. hey, pam. >> good morning, sheena. we're taking a look at i--476. know trouble there. everything moving along smoo smoothly. also keeping an eye out for you

a lot more information. what we just found out from our station there in dallas is that the suspect has been killed by police and that they also found two suspicious devices. a lot still unfolding right now. i'll back up as we take a look here and see wait looks like right after the shots were fired. people are running and screaming. the gunfire, it started around 8:45 local time. and earlier this morning the dallas police chief said that three people were in custody and that fourth man that i just mentioned a moment ago was locked up in a standoff with police, that the man told negotiators that the end is coming, that he's going to hurt and kill more officers and that there were bombs in the area. he was not cooperating, and now we hear that update just within the past 30 to 40 minutes ago.

dallas was one of several major cities holding protests for recent officer-involved shooting deaths. here is the police chief and majma mayor of dallas talking about the police-involved shootings. take a listen. >> we still don't have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspects. so we will continue a very, very rigorous investigation and search of downtown. we're likely to be working throughout the early morning hours of friday. >> we as a city, we as a country must come together and lock arms and heal the wounds that we all feel from time to time.

words matter. i'm proud of our chief. >> they're trying to find out what is the exact motive here. is there a threat. they found a couple of suspicious devices in the parking lot. they're looking at that right now. to recap, five officers dead, several others injured in a shooting in dallas. we're also hearing that the organizers of the protest, they're planning a news conference for later on this morning to show their support for the officers who were killed. also the father of one of the injured officers, he'll talk about his daughter's injuries. for now i'm leave in the digital operation center. >> the violence in dallas follows the shoots of two men earlier this week. the deadly gunfire in minnesota erupted after a police officer pulled over a black couple for a broken taillight.

between them, three for use of force. authorities are looking at surveillance video from the convenience store where alton sterling died. both officers were put on leave. in philadelphia protests are calling for more after those shootings. >> i believe that we will win. >> many of the peaceful demonstrators who shut down streets in center city last night, we'll hear from hillary clinton today. the presidential candidate plans to speak at the ame church convention. also the police commissioner reached out to others who are upset by what they're seeing in other cities. >> we have a lot do. half of the battle is recognizing that and being aware of that. >> the church has to leave its comfortable pews and come to the streets. >> we need to listen to the black community and we need to do our part. >> police made no arrests that protest. now, president obama has been briefed on what's happening in dallas after he arrivinged in poland for the nato summit.

the president reacted to the police-involved shootings in louisiana and minnesota. the president showed the deadly gunfire is bigger than just race. >> this is not just a black issue. it's not just a spanish issue. this is an american issue that we should all care about. all fair-minded people should be concerned. >> president obama said law enforcement officers across the country have a tough job, but he noted the shootings show piases must be rooted out within police departments. to recap, dallas police say snipers shot 11 officers late last night, at least five of them are dead. at least one was shot and three have been taken into custody. a fourth has been killed and devices have been found. stay with us on nbc10.com and

the nbc 10 app. it's 4:09. in other news, fewer riders are taking septa because of the slowdowns. septa announced daily ridership has dropped by more than half. it's been nearly a week since septa took nearly a third of its rails out of work because of problems. with 120 trains out of service, there are 15,000 fewer seats. they urge riders to find a different mode of transportation until the sib fixed which could be end of summer. well, it's another warm start to your day this afternoon, another hot one. we're going to be in a heat wave with the temperatures in the 90s. your temperatures at the bottom of your screen.

we continue to follow breaking news out of dallas. here's the latest. police say snipers shot 11 officers last night. five of them are dead. at least one civilian was shot. police are questioning people they took into custody. a fourth suspect was shot. the fire broke out during peaceful protests over police-involved shootings earlier this week. yesterday a montgomery county judge ruled statements given to detectives 11 years ago are enough to send the case to trial. the judge also denied a motion by cosby's lawyers to compel n

constand to testify. >> we are confident that our state's highest court will right this wrong, will reverse this decision. >> a trial date has not yet been set. now to decision 2016. as we mentioned earlier, hillary clinton will be there to speak to the ame church convention. before that they'll be in scranton. clinton's father grew up there. the two leaders plan to discuss the economy, but that could change given the deadly gunfire this week in texas, minnesota, and louisiana. another investigation into the clinton e-mail scandal is moving forward now. the state department is reopening an internal probe of possible mishandling of classified information by the

convention in philadelphia. here's a roadmap of closures and restrekzs during the dnc in philadelphia around the wells fargo center. the red lines are the closures. green lines are restrictions. yellow lines are authorized only. in addition to road closures will be set up near fdr park. city leaders say it's the best location for protesters to safely interact with delegates. people living nearby are not happy about that. >> we're just a quiet, you know, group of people that likes to come out and enjoy ourselves without having loud people all in our faces. >> these closures go into effect saturday, july 23rd. now, the schuylkill won't be impacted but people who live around the wells fargo center can expect some traffic delays. >> we still have a first alert out because of the heat.
