tomorrow. >> it is the horrible tragedy, and we just felt we needed to be there to help in the healing and show solidarity for our brothers. >> the plymouth city is also sending officers to dallas. an update on the breaking news if last night. investigators have determined a threat made against three philadelphia police districts is not credible. recently, someone flagged down an officer in the 39th district and warned him of a threat on facebook. but when investigators looked into it, they found no evidence that the threat was legitimate. building trust and transparen transparency. how they're doing it one foot step at a time. we're going to live to dallas for the fallen officers in that city. now to the first alert weather, nbc 10 checked out the

playground, where these two were in the swing of things. cool enough to play outside this afternoon. pleasant, but not for long. >> that's right. we're in store for yet another heat wave. nbc 10 sheena parveen is here with the details. >> it is not going be to a dry one either. humidity coming back with the next heat wave in the forecast. it will be another week where we end up saying, yes, it will be feeling close to 100 degrees. live look at center city, mostly sunny skies. humidity is at i comfortable level. it doesn't feel too much hotter than it is. 87 degrees in philadelphia, a bit of a breeze, but that's a warm wind direction, a little warmer than we were yesterday. also, don't forget your seven day forecast is always controlling at the bottom of the screen for you. take a look at what will happen the next of the week. tomorrow, close to 90, rain in the forecast, so i'll show you that coming up. thursday, friday, saturday, that's when we expect to be in a

heat wave. tomorrow, we'll watch the number closely if we do hit tomorrow, that could be the start of the heat wave. it is borderline, either way, it will be in the forecast, and with it, the humidity. with all of that combined, an excessive heat watch out to mercer to new castle, areas in between thursday and friday. temperatures like i showed you in the mid 90s, but feeling close to triple digit heat because of the humidity, always makes it feel hotter. aside from that, we're also watching showers down to the south and west, scattered showers and storms, moving in tomorrow and maybe even thursday. also part of your weekend, we have rain chances too. i'll show you the timing of the rain and talk about the heat that's coming up. vigil planned tonight to honor an eighth grader shot and killed. 15-year-old tahir was shot in the face at 61st and baltimore streets. two other teens were also shot they're expected to be okay.

event. yesterday was a very dark day for the lewis fire department. >> tim furlong, nbc 10 news. we'll have more details on that in just a moment. we have new details on this. just into the newsroom in the past half hour, about that scare at the bellevue in center city last night. we first told you about this last night at 11:00 and more about it at 4:00. police have charged wong with criminal trespassing. the north jersey man was caught with smoke bombs and chemicals that investigators say could have been used to make pipe bombs. police tell us they believe he was a photographer, taking pictures of a model and using the smoke for an effect in the pictures. a delaware man has tested positive for the zika virus. that brings the total number of cases in the state to eight. in pennsylvania, there have been 40 people who have tested positive. and 54 confirmed cases in new jersey. all of the positive zika test results are due to mosquito

bites, while people were traveling abroad. none of them involved pregnancy. south jersey bureau. burgling town car burglaries, 17 since the beginning of the month. two persons of interest in the winter green development on july 1st, police tell us the burglars have targeted unlocked cars. the state of delaware is trying to make sure students have a better chance of getting into and finishing college. today, governor jack markel announced $250,000 grant to help achieve that. the money is from an organization called usa funds, used to increase student success rates in college, improve their channels of getting a degree, and it will help reduce the cost associated with higher education. transformed, take a look for yourself. a live picture, showing a new

tells us the victims have made aware of her parole and did not object to it. meanwhile, she did everything right, but still got ripped off. the man in this video is trying to get into the home of a 96-year-old woman's house in east mount erie, he claimed he worked for philadelphia gas works. she opened her door to get her mail and police say the guy forced his way in, ran into the home, stole jewelry. if you recognize him, call police. back room deal, that's wh they're calling last week's deal between the parking authority and uber. now the group of taxi and limo drivers has filed an injunction to stop it. last week, the ppa announced that uber could temporarily operate legally in philadelphia. they believe uber's ride sharing service will be a draw to frustrated septa riders. there is limited service on the regional rails. today the coalition issued a

degrees. we have showers in the forecast for tomorrow. right now we're dry. we're going to stay that way through the evening, but all these scattered showers as you see approaching washington, that's going to slowly move in our direction. we could she showers as early as before lunchtime tomorrow. maybe even more as we go through the afternoon. then the heat continues to move in, and the humidity as well. so we have an excessive heat watch for the end of the week, from new castle through philadelphia up to mercer, areas in between. that will be thursday and friday. temperatures will be in the mid 90s. it will feel like any where from 100 to 104 degrees. very similar to what we had at the end of last week. we're going to have that again. today for example, we have lower humidity. the temperature so far in philadelphia has reached 87 degrees. it felt maybe a degree warmer than that. tomorrow, humidity keeps going up, feeling more like the mid to low 90s. then by thursday, 90 for a high temperature, we could be feeling

closer to 101, maybe up to 104 in some spots. then friday, heat and humidity continuing. so that is why thursday and friday we have the excessive heat watch. you want to avoid several hours outside the middle of day with the heat on the way. for tomorrow, neighborhood temperatures will be warmer than today. fairmount, 89 degrees, if you're in redding, 87, and everyone has a fair chance for scattered shower or thunderstorms tomorrow. if you're in new jersey, channels as well, 88 degrees, gallowway, 82 degrees. lower chance at the shore. dover, chance as well, 84 for tomorrow. we'll look at the ten-day forecast, because we have the heat wave in the forecast too. tomorrow, 89, so if we hit 90 tomorrow, we could start the heat wave, we could be close. thursday, chance of thunderstorm, more humid, friday, 94, saturday, 92. that would be an official heat wave, number three.

timing of the rain, coming up. >> thanks for that sheena. a vigil is set to get underway for a teenager who was shot and killed while walking home from a basketball game last night. 15-year-old tahir barns was shot in the face about a block away from the playground at 61st and baltimore. monique braxton just spoke to his mother. we'll hear from her later on at nbc 10 news at 6:00. a michigan sheriff has pledged to review the guidelines for people charged with violent crimes. this after he killed two bail lives. the inmates hands were cuffed in front when he took hold of the gun. initially he said the inmate identified as larry dorn nel gordon was not handcuffed. he got into a fight with the deputy yesterday, and according to the sheriff, gordon tried to take hostages, but officers shot and killed him before he could. in the wake of the violence

u.s. attorney general, loretta lynch, over the investigation into hillary clinton's private e-mail server. lynch appeared before the house judiciary committee today. she was asked repeatedly about the justice department's decision to not pursue charges in the case. lynch repeatedly declined to explain the legal basis for the decision. she told committee members it was her intention all along to accept the recommendation of the fbi. >> the matter was handled like any other matter. it was reviewed the clahain andn considering the matter, there was no connection. there was no need for recusal or independent prosecutor. >> yesterday, republicans asked the department of justice to investigate whether clinton perjured herself in earlier tomorrow to a congressional committee. two possible data breaches in pennsylvania to tell you about. the personal information of 13,000 patients at st. mary's

ambulatory center may be at risk after a malware attack. four laptop computers were stolen from an auditor in san francisco. one contained personal information, which wasn't properly secured. the department of revenue is sending letters to those affected. as the fight against the heroin epidemic intensifies, a new report shows cocaine and fentanyl are also claiming more lives. last year, more than 3,000 people died from drug overdoses across pennsylvania, a 23% jump from 2014. heroin was used in more than half of the overdayses. fentanyl increased by 93%. cocaine, by 41%. local students started five-week program today that may encourage them to become doctors. turns out, latinos and hispanics make up about 4% of practicing health professionals in the u.s.

philadelphia, that's the average high where we should be. tomorrow, close to 90. thursday, friday, saturday, expect temperatures in the 90s. and that would be our heat wave. feeling like triple digits. because of that the feeling like triple digits, we have an excessive heat watch. mercer county, areas in between, pennsylvania, new jersey neighborhoods, both thursday and friday, temperatures in the mid 90s, and the extra humidity, it will be potentially dangerous. you want to avoid staying outside for several hours during the day. make sure you stay hydrated. over the next three days, we have a chance of showers or storms tomorrow even thursday, friday, dry, temperatures mid 90s in philadelphia. pennsylvania suburbs, rain chances over the next couple of days, but drying out by friday, temperatures in the 90s. same thing for lehigh valley, 91 friday, even more heat for the wee weekend. thursday and friday, don't look too bad. t temperatures will get hotter.

south jersey police are busy tackling crime and also community concerns, one foot step at a time. >> we mean foot step. officers in burlington city tell us, bureau reporter shows us how. >> how is everybody doing today? >> inside the wayside ministry summer day camp, kids greet the officer, same children as young as four, who tell counselors, they're scared of police, due to what they see on tv or hear their parents say. >> they say what they hear, oh, they're shooting black people. i say no, they're not honey. let's talk about this.
