for dangerous conditions let's go to bill henley who has your "first alert" neighborhood forecast. a closer look at positions. this morning, some showers, though? >> yeah, we're talking heat and humanit humidity. and a "first alert" for pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. for this afternoon into this evening, extreme heat, 100-plus degrees is what it will feel like. this morning, still some showers, quick-moving showers and thunderstorms. heavy-duty rainfall. quick moving, too. coming down at a rate of more than two inches an hour but it is on the move. don't expect flooding with the showers. you will see brief heavy downpours as with thunder and lightning to start with. it won't be an all-day rainfall. keeping eye on temperatures, 75 right now for new jersey, lehigh, delaware. clouds in place, high humidity.

we're watching for fog in the suburbs. the heat is on this afternoon. 94 degrees for the humid conditions will feel more like 100 for philadelphia, the suburbs and new jersey. and lehigh valley, storms. this is where we're watching for thunderstorms, you'll see strong storms develop through the day through the afternoon and evening hours, 92 degrees this afternoon. a look at where you'll run into fog as you hang out, back in ten minutes but right now, jessica boyington is following your "first alert" traffic. >> there's an overturned vehicle in the atlantic city expressway headed eastbound, route 536. there's for lanes blocked right now, just squeezed into the shoulder. the eastbound traffic is allowed to pass through. here's the ninth street expressway. no problems that's because it's

closed with that construction in between the schuylkill expressway, another hour of this. the local vine is your alternate. you can see the flashing lights ahead. more with that back in ten, tracy. the railcars to ease to septa regional rails could be impacted by today's dangerous heat. nbc10's matt delucia is live at septa's winslow station to explain. >> reporter: well, tracy, they're getting ready to wrap up the delays because of that line more than 100 rail cars. we're expected to get a better look of what this is all about. we'll get an update, perhaps a glimpse in the cracks in the frame that were in the cars to be repaired. now, another issue that we could

feel the next few days, the heat, temperatures over 90 degrees could cause the overhead power lines to expand and sag and the rails heating up. and that could cause some damage as well so some septa trains have been running a little slower for safety reasons. septa has been getting help. adding some trains from other agencies but it's definitely not a good idea to stay outside waiting for a train to show up here in this heat and humidity. here in jenkintown, you can wait outside. a lot of people have opted to wait in their cars as well. even now, it's muggy and expected to get worse as the morning gets on and we get the sun rising and of course, it's going to be a long and hot one today. live in jenkintown, matt delucia. and a new report just of released this morning says a

majority of drivers experience road rage behind the wheel some to an extreme degree. the aaa foundation for traffic safety found 86% of drivers felt aggression. they engage in behaviors like tailgating, another driver trying to block another car from changing lanes. about 8 million americans admitted to extreme episodes of road rage like rams another car or getting out of a car to confront another driver. aaa has these suggestions. be tolerant and forgiving, do not respond. that means avoid eye contact, no gestures and call 911 if needed. backing the blue. hundreds of people took to the streets in philadelphia to show support for police. people rallied following this gathering at cottman and rayfield yesterday. they held up signs to show

solidarity with the men in blue. >> a bunch of my buddies are philadelphia police officers today. with all the violence going on in the u.s., they need to know we're here to back them. >> every single day, getting guns off the street, dangerous people off the streets. >> officials there say no injuries and no major incidents were reported at either rally. and here's some pictures from the pro police rally in philadelphia taken by the nbc10 photographer joe cuse merrick. you can see more pictures on the nbc10 app. president obama is trying to address the police and the communities they everybody. >> we're not at a point yet where communities feel confident that their police departments are serving them with dignity and respect and quality. and we're not to the point yet

where police departments feel adequately supported at all levels. >> former police commissioner charles ramsey was among those who attended. also there the governor of louisiana and the mayor of st. paul, minnesota, both dealing with police-involved shootings. meantime on capitol hill several senators have introduced the back on the blue act making it a federal crime to kill or target law enforcement officers. >> the process of laying to rest the five officers killed in last week's police ambush in dallas will continue for the next few days after family and friends attended services for three of the five yesterday. ♪ >> bagpipes played for dallas police officer lorne ahrens, a father of two. services were also held for sergeant michael smith, the 28-year department veteran who served seven years in the army.

and d.a.r.t. officer brent thompson, a former marine, left behind six children and a wife of two weeks. >> we will not, we cannot, we shall not let the acts of a coward break us. i'm asking you all to continue on, press on. he has your six. >> dallas police officer michael krol is scheduled and patrick zamarripa's funeral will be held saturday. dallas visited a growing memorial outside of headquarters. the department of transportation has proposed new rules for transporting oil and other hazardous flammable liquid in rail tanker cars. the new rail tanker safety rule would require rail carriers to have a comprehensive response plan to all trains carrying

liquid. the rail carriers would also have to share information with state and local agencies. the d.o.t.'s proposal follows a number of oil train disasters including this derailment in quebec that skilled 27 people. this derailment caused concern in 2014 on the bridge over the schouylkill and bridge in philadelphia. that left a freight car leaning off a bridge for several days. >> announcer: now, your nbc10 "first alert" weather. heading out the door, it's steamy this morning and we're still track something thunderstorms though they're starting to settle down. heat and humidity during the day, very hot and humid this afternoon. reaching dangerous levels. and it's going to be very warm and steamy this evening. we'll see some clouds in the area but enough sunshine to really cause the temperatures to soar. these showers moving through

this morgue. actually starting to settle down. this line of showers produced thunder and lightning. as it's moving into delaware county, the lightning is coming to an end. but there's still some heavy downpours moving into parts of philadelphia. it moves to the east and out of here and then we'll get a break for most of the day but this afternoon, there's a probability we'll see showers in the lehigh valley. the moisture left over from yesterday. and we'll see light fog from blue bell and pottstown to poor visibility in quakertown but really not an issue in new jersey and delaware. we'll keep an eye on it, the fog can develop fairly quickly. the temperature, they're going to rise quickly as well. 76 degrees at 7:00 a.m., 92 degrees at 3:00 this afternoon. the suburbs will be in the

it's really gross if it is. >> posner is pictured on the website as an employee at chester memorial hospital. penn would not comment. police in allentown are looking for a gunman who walked up to a barber outside of his shot and shot him dead. he was sitting outside greeting customers when' man asked him for cigarettes and unloaded almost a dozen bullets. his family says he leaves behind a young son and wife. >> his son, family, his wife, you got to go through this. it's big loss. i hope they get justice though. >> police say they're following up on a number of leads. so far, they've made no arrests. police are on the hunt for a

box bandit targeted churches. police in amber, montgomery county leased this picture saying he stole cash from donations boxes at st. anthony's church three times in the last several weeks. according to police, a pastor of a delaware county church caught the same man trying to steal from his church. >> don't like that he's preying on people out there trying to help their communities. police say the man is believed to be in his 40s and was seen to leaving both churches in a new black suv. the philadelphia art museum is jumps on board. the museum held a promotion centered around the virtual features. they offered pay for admission to hunt for pokemon. one man said it's a great marketing tool. >> i feel like if other places start doing stuff like this, just hosting -- i don't even

going to feel like it's topping 100, as you go into the afternoon hours. temperatures right now, 70s in new jersey, and actually 80 degrees right now. still cooling down that will likely come down another couple degrees but we're not going to see a big cooldown because of the humidity and remaining clouds. 74 in pemberton. medford is 75 degrees. middle 70s for lumberton. a warm, muggy start and hot humid afternoon. the ten day on ten, 94 degrees today. 95 again tomorrow. that's why we've issued a "first alert" for today and tomorrow for the heat hazard. then the 90s continue this weekend. lower, 91 degrees for saturday and sunday. up to the 90 degree mark. on monday, might see late day showers and thunderstorms. it's going to be dry, high of 91 degrees. a better chance of seeing wet weather move in for tuesday,
