nbc 10 breaking news. we begin with breaking news in south philadelphia. one woman is dead, six people have been rushed to the hospital after a hit-and-run crash. the woman was walking on the sidewalk with her husband and 2-year-old child when they were

hit. the driver of the car was in a stolen vehicle when he ran the stoplight and crashed into another vehicle which hit the family. the driver took off and ditched the car at 21st and snyder where cops found it empty. a short time later, officers tracked down and arrested the driver. also new at 11:00, the democratic ticket is set. hillary clinton chose tim kaine as her vice presidential running mate. hillary clinton told the world on twitter. she announced her running mate just after 8:00. we have team coverage for reaction on the vp pick and how changes are already in place as the dnc shifts into high gear right here in philadelphia. >> reporter: senator kaine is considered by many people to be a safe pick. he'll likely help hillary win the state of virginia, which is a battleground state, but as the dnc nears, it appears she's put

protesters. >> this is my regular place where i play, five, six days a week. >> reporter: jonathan jones plays at this park often, but with the democratic national convention moving at the wells fargo center, it's forcing people who use fdr park to make other plans next week. >> we just have to find something else to do and get off the roads as well, i guess, so that's going to be a bit of a bummer. >> reporter: during the dnc, several streets will be shut down. like broad street from packer avenue to the navy yard. don't even think about parking near the wells fargo center to take the septa train at at&t station, that lot closed today. >> we'll have to go back to the regional rail or park down at nova care. >> reporter: inside the wells fargo center, it's almost showtime. ready for delegates, including victoria bard from colorado. she's hoping bernie sanders can miraculously win the democratic

police in south jersey are searching for this man. they say he hit a woman outside

the chick fil a restaurant in gloucester township. the woman went to pick up money she had dropped. she saw a man pick up the money and get into a gold mini van. when she went to talk to him, the mini van took off, hitting the victim as it left the parking lot. pennsylvania residents studying at penn state will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets for tuition next year. they voted for the 2.3% increase for campus. along with other smaller hikes for other campuses. they will be paying about $28,000 next year including food and housing. new jersey's democratic legislative leaders have agreed on a new plan to fund transportation projects by boosting the gas and cutting other taxes. it was immediately criticized by chris christie's office. he says he's confident it can
