again. it's the final day of the dnc. today, hillary clinton will take the stage and accept the nomination as president. but first, we have issued a "first alert" because of the threat of severe weather. let's get to bill henley with the "first alert" neighborhood forecast. a closer look at communities across pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. good morning, bill. >> good morning. skies will be clouding up later this afternoon. that's where we'll likely see showers and thunderstorms. upper 70s for wilmington, clay mont at 71, 76 degrees this morning. another warm start. watching the doppler radar. we see showers and storms from kentucky and west virginia that's headed our way today. back into the 90s for philadelphia. the suburbs and the lehigh

valley. for new jersey, afternoon showers and thunderstorms especially in the south. at the shore, you'll see a possibility of storms as well and into delaware, southern and central delaware where it will warm into the 80s. wilmington, 91 degrees this afternoon. i'll go through the forecast hour by hour, for each of the areas in just a few minutes. let's check in with jessica boyington on a thursday morning. >> hey, bill, we're watching an accident scene in montgomery county, hourham. that might tie you up when heading out the door there. here's the vine street expressway around 24th street. no problems tour delays. all lanes open. still with the dnc in town this week we don't have that instruction project under way. westbound to the schuylkill or eastbound 295, no problems. drive times looking okay. 95 into center city, 13 minutes

really endorsed her this evening and called for unity. and so graciously acknowledged the work that senator sanders has done and what he stands for. it's just unity bringing us together. i have to admit, i had tears in my eyes because it was just so moving. >> speeches continue to be the best that i've heard in quite some time. the difference between the republicans and democrats, their is fear, downer. ours is upbeat. we're talking about the future of our country. >> and delegates also said that the president's speech could help bridge the divide between democrats and republicans. and some are criticizing donald trump for urging russia to hack the e-mail. >> take a listen. >> russia, if you're listening, i hope you're able to find the

30,000 e-mails that are missing. >> house speaker paul ryan called on russia to stay out of the u.s. politics, without referring to trump. at the dnc former defense secretary leon panetta held knowledge back. >> donald trump who wants to be president of the united states is asking one of our adversaries to engage in hacking or intelligence efforts against the united states of america to effect an election. >> u.s. intelligence said that it's confident the russians hack computer servers of the democratic national committee. local delegates we spoke with at the convention were quick to criticize trudge for his comments. >> one of them called his remarks treason while another said no one should give him any attention. >> there's for validity in what he says that he grabs attention. i think it's sad he spent so little money and got so much press when he was out there

campaigning. he's not man of substance. and we got to stop giving him that power by always acknowledging what he says. >> you know, today, trump did something that is just inexcusable and unacceptable in this country. he's asking the russians to hack into clinton's e-mail. he's telling a woman to sit down and be quiet. that should not be happening. that is treason in my book. that is sexism in my book and we have come way too far to go back. >> other experts we spoke with call trump a con artist andel say he's willing to say anything for attention. >> and on the trump issue, this internet video is now making the rounds. it mocks trump's campaign slogan. only it reads make russia great again with vladimir putin pictured as his running mate. and now the race to november and

>> announcer: now, your nbc10 "first alert" weather. >> a live view of boathouse row. pretty quiet but later today, storms will be popping up. a "first alert" for delaware, new jersey, philadelphia and the suburbs and tonight for powerful thunderstorms and a flash flood threat with heavy rainfall starting this afternoon. and we see some showers just to our west this morning. more numerous in northern kentucky. they've got a ways to go before they get to us. so, we'll start with some sunshine and it will be another hot one today. 77 degrees in philadelphia. middle 80s at 10:00. near 90 degrees at noon time. clouds increasing, chance of thunderstorms increasing during the later part of the day. for the suburbs, 87 degrees. a pretty good warmup from where we are right now. the storms take shape during the afternoon hours that will keep temperatures in the 80s for the suburbs and lehigh valley. clear skies right now, a little cooler, 69 degrees.

sunshine, nice and bright, near 90 degrees, noon time into the 90s with cloud starting to thicken up during the afternoon hours. we'll be watching for scattered showers there. a better chance we'll see storms developing in new jersey and parts of delaware. 73 in new jersey plenty of sunshine to start with this morning. that mr. provide the heat, the fuel for the storms this afternoon. and at the shore, sunny skies to start with. 77 now, not a lot warmer at 10:00. in the 80s this afternoon with showers and thunderstorms helping to keep temperatures lower during the day today. and delaware, 75 degrees now with clear skies. plenty of sunshine through the morning hours. it's this afternoon that the clouds take over with showers, thunderstorms and some heavy downpours. 10 day on 10 when i am back in a few minutes. right now i'm checking with jessica boyington for your "first alert" traffic. >> thank you, bill. we are watching for the dnc closures and into this week on our majors.

watching for those checkpoints. there's a few on 95. that's because that nine-mile stretch of 95 there's a five-ton commercial vehicle restriction. those vehicles are not allowed to access at this time. 95 northbound around the philadelphia international airport, in this general area, 95 southbound around girard avenue one on the vine street expressway eastbound right around 95. no delays there now but this is what they look like. here's the vine street expressway right around third street. so this is police activity stationed there. you can see some lane restrictions, shoulder restrictions. right now, there's not a lot of vine through the area. that always changes later on in your morning commute and evening commute as well. watch for those lane restrictions there, tracy. 12 minutes past 4:00 right now, 77 degrees on this thursday morning. our coverage continues with fire and fence jumping last night. >> check out this tense scene at one of the security gates as an american flag was burned in that next, hear what happened to a

whom climbed the perimeter fence neared wells fargo center. >> we had about seven people chose to go over that fence, despite warnings not to do so. even earlier. there would be potential repercussions, charges. for whatever reason, they chose to do it. multiple officers were there. >> one police officer suffered minor injuries. police made the arrest while president obama was on stage speaking to the delegates. >> well, president obama was the head liner on the night of the dnc, his vice president was the warmup act. >> joe biden fired up the delegates by blasting donald trump saying the nominee was unfit to serve in the white house. >> the man who seeks division and disorder around the world. a man who confuses bluster. we just cannot let that happen

a look at headlines. we have new details in the philadelphia church sex abuse case involving monsignor william lynne. on tuesday, the pennsylvania supreme court granted the roman catholic priest a new trial. he has served three years of his six years. prosecutors helped the archdiocese cover up abuse complaints. new jersey transit now has contracts with all 11 of its rail younes. it approved the contract it's yesterday with locomotives, engineers and conductors. the rail unions had been working without a contract for five years. well, if you don't like snake, you can breathe a big sigh of relief after a 60-pound boa constrictor that was loose,

well, it's been found. the 12-foot long boa has been returned to its owner in south jersey. a paulsboro woman spotted the snake under her steps right next to her dog on tuesday night. it is legal to have a boa constrictor as a pet in new jersey. and we've issued a "first alert" for much of our area today. heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the second half of the day. see how our city already had to deal with severe weather yesterday. you can see from this video from skyforce 10, people in cars surrounded by high water. some people even made the dangerous decision to drive through those puddles. meteorologist bill henley joins us now. severe weather could hit a more widespread area, right? >> yes. especially delaware and including cape may which is looking at thick fog. not everybody is seeing fog but

it's an issue for parts of the area. this morning, it's not pennsylvania. go into new jersey and this is where you see the light fog, especially thick at the shore. wildwood reporting five-mile visibility. and three-mile visibility in delaware. temperatures have cooled down, 77 degrees in philadelphia. south jersey with clouds overhead you'll see some sunshine, the temperatures will warm this morning from the 60s through the 70s and into the 80s and back into the 90s this afternoon. but the evening humidity that's on the way for this afternoon will help fuel the storm development. lumberton 72 degrees along with pemberton. and not a bad start. it's going to be a quick warmup with our morning sunshine into the upper 80s in philadelphia, during the morning hours and at 1:00 in the afternoon, 90 degrees, will feel more like 95 degrees, thanks to the elevated humidity that we're already seeing and fog at the shore.

satellite and radar clear right now but you can see the showers streaming our way. the first scattered light showers are in south central pennsylvania but the heavier storms to the southwest. the hour-by-hour forecast shows we've been pretty quiet this morning. we'll get that morning heating, 11:30 this morning, mostly clear. but watch the showers start to pop up as we go into the early evening hours. that's 2:00 this afternoon. and then some heavy downpours into the later afternoon hours and delaware and south jersey, that's where we're keeping an especially close watch for the potential of severe storms later today. 10 day on 10 back to the 90s but not tomorrow. 86 degrees, the high temperature. it will be in the 80s again for saturday and sunday. by monday, low 80s with a chance of storms especially likely in the morning. then tuesday, even cooler. 78 degrees. but that's where it bottoms out.
