11:47 am
as storms take shape, with potentially damaging winds. the radar, the satellite shows the clouds increasing. most of the area is dry, but i'm watching one area of some scattered light showers in southern chester county, a moderate shower just to the west in lancaster county. this is the beginning of the activity we're going to see during the day today. the heaviest storms continue to be in western pennsylvania, but you can see a line extends into maryland, the d.c. area, this is going to develop into shower and thunderstorm activity that poses the greatest threat to the south. flash flooding, damaging winds, most likely in delaware and south jersey. the farther north you go, the less likely you are to see severe weather, but there's still a potential for thunderstorms, with some heavy rainfall. so storms today and it's why we have issued a first alert for our area for today and tonight, for delaware, new jersey, philadelphia, and the suburbs. some of the heaviest rainfall is going to be moving through overnight tonight, and into
11:48 am
tomorrow morning. there's a potential for those strong storms to develop, damaging winds, and bringing flash flooding threat to our area. 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall in a very short period of time. but, it's also going to usher in some cooler temperatures over the next several days. we're in the low 90s today in allentown. 92 in philadelphia. dover, in the 80s, and look at the cooling trend on the way over the next sefrveral days. we'll finally be out of the high heat. it will come at a price and the potential for severe weather. this is 4:00 this afternoon. the first round of showers and thunderstorms moving through delaware and south jersey, and the possibility into philadelphia and the suburbs. then, overnight tonight, heavier rainfall. in fact, late this evening, that's 8:00 this evening, look at the storms just to the west at that hour. they develop with some very heavy rainfall. we could see some strong storms, potential severe weather later this evening. that's 11:00 tonight, for
11:49 am
central and southern delaware, crossing delaware bay into new jersey, and possibly reaching towards philadelphia. again, farther north, less of a threat of storms. those storms move through, but we'll still be tracking some showers and possibly some thunderstorms fist thing tomorrow morning. that's 2:00 in the morning. the storm threat continues into the morning commute tomorrow. so we've got some stormy weather on the way. this weekend, there is a potential for more storms in the area, but there will be some sunshine, too, on saturday. 87 degrees for philadelphia on saturday afternoon. sunshine in the lehigh valley. partly sunny skies for the jersey shore, 78 degrees, right on the beach, on saturday. by sunday, though, clouds are back with a good chance we'll see rain for much of the day. might see some breaks of sunshine, but i'm expecting limited sunshine on sunday, and monday, even cooler, 70s for the jersey shore in delaware with the chance of some showers, possibly some thunderstorms in the area as well, but we'll also get some sunshine on monday.
11:50 am
but definitely an end to the heat wave. your ten-day on 10, there's 92 degrees. then it's 80s for tomorrow, saturday and sunday and into monday, which is the first day of august. still, a chance of showers first thing on monday, then clearing out in the afternoon. a chance of some scattered showers on tuesday, 78 degrees, the high temperature. then it's back into the 80s with sunny skies for wednesday. wednesday will be a beautiful day. morning temperatures in the 60s. the humidity, low during the day on wednesday. by thursday, though, turns a bit warmer. it's a warming trend that has us back into the very low 90s for next friday and saturday. so, the main threat for our area today, not necessarily the heat, even though it's the end of the heat wave, it's the storms for later today, tonight, and into tomorrow morning.

electing people to continue what he calls the political revolution, the day after the presidential election. he says, that starts from schoolboa schoolboards, city councilmen, and on up the ranks. he also thanked his supporters. we talked to some of those supporters, many supporters who say they are not ready to throw their support behind hillary clinton. however, they say, they have no choice but to give her their votes. you'll hear from them coming up later on today. in valley forge, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. >> now you've heard bits and pieces of what president obama said here last night at the dnc. >> we've put together some of the more memorable moments of his speech. take a look. >> there has never been a man or a woman, not me, not bill, nobody more qualified than hillary clinton to serve as president of the united states of america. time and again, you've picked me up. and i hope sometimes i've picked you up, too.
11:56 am
