brazilian olympian carrying the torch. >> it has to be one of the coolest things i've ever done. >> reporter: 207 delegations will take part in the parade of nations, a moment the athletes say they will soak in. now you're here representing your kin tri, it's not just about yourself and friends and family, it's about the whole country. >> reporter: among the delegations is a team of refugees who will actually be beneath the olympic flag. no country, and no flag to call their own. demonstrating the olympic spirit of this event. some emotional moments that will take place during the opening ceremony tonight. to give you an idea of the timing, we're just a little more than three hours away. are you counting down? we definitely are here in rio. the opening ceremony will be held in less than three hours. nbc 10, the only place to see it. coverage begins at 7:30 tonight. during the olympics, don't miss our nbc 10 special going for

"olympic zone" tomorrow as we profile local athletes in rio. the "olympic zone" tomorrow at 7:30 right here on nbc 10. back here at home, fantastic start to the weekend. but that's expected to change by tomorrow. so let's go to first alert meteorologist sheena parveen. storms saturday, sheena? >> yeah, storms to start off your weekend. if you have plans tonight, we're going to stay dry. you'll notice more clouds around. the rain still back off to our west. that will start to move in for your saturday. so keep that in mind as you start to make your plans. tonight, though, temperatures mid-70s by about 8:30 across the area. partly to mostly cloudy skies. by tomorrow morning, when you wake up, warm and humid. temperatures in about the mid-70s by 7:30. and through the afternoon,

scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area. high temperatures in many spots could get into the low 90s before the storms start to roll through. coming up, we'll take a closer look at the timing of those storms around your entire weekend forecast. if you're heading down to the shore, that's straight ahead. to a story that's been developing all day. the fbi fanned out across philadelphia in a series of raids that took agents to both city hall and the home of the city's biggest union boss. three of the locations the fbi raided today have connections to union leader john dockerty, including his home and pub in south philadelphia. his union's headquarters in spring garden also. they raided the office of bobby heenan. mitch blocker live at city hall right now. we start with rosemary connors in south philly. rosemary? >> reporter: jim, john dockerty seemed calm and collected as he waited outside on the sidewalk, this as investigators were

inside his home for hours today. this is not john dockerty's first encounter with the feds on his property. they were here a decade ago on another investigation. the union calls it a bad rerun. >> nothing in my house has changed in ten years. i'm the most vetted guy in philadelphia. >> reporter: with boxes of bagged evidence and a computer in hand, federal investigators emerge from john dockerty's south philadelphia row home after spending most of the day inside. the fbi will not reveal any details of the investigation. and local 98 representatives say the only information they had is from reports claiming that the feds are looking into the union's finances. >> allegations of financial impropriety is somewhat puzzling, because ibw local 98 is subject to multiple audits throughout the year, and multiple levels of scrutiny. >> reporter: investigators also removed boxes of evidence and a computer from the home next door, where some of dockerty's

family members live. >> i've been under scrutiny my whole life. maybe it's because i win too much. >> reporter: he's been a business manager of the electrical workers union in philadelphia for more than two decades. more recently he also became the business manager of the building trades. considered politically well connected, he once served as a board member of the delaware river port authority and is now an alternate on the board. last year he helped his brother, kevin, win his case for state supreme court justice. under dockerty's leadership, they say the union has helped the campaigns of many politicians, including the mayor and some city council members like bobby heenan. >> the government has a job to do. let them do their job. i'm very comfortable with where we're at right now. once we get this ugly scenario by, everything will be fine. >> reporter: investigators on

scene were very tight-lipped. they would not say what they were looking for inside the home or what they took with them in those evidence bags. reporting live in south philadelphia, i'm rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. >> as federal investigators work the dockerty south philly home, they also gathered evidence at the union's headquarters. investigators were carrying out dozens and dozens of boxes from the ibew hall. agents loaded those boxes into this moving truck. they had descriptions like tax records, pay records and invoices. let's go to city hall as agents are raided bobby heenan's office as well. our coverage continues now with nbc 10's mitch blocker who's live at city hall. mitch? >> reporter: jim, the fbi had been inside heenan's fourth floor office since about 6:00 this morning.

i want to show you some video from a couple of hours ago. this is from about 1:30 this afternoon when the fbi was exiting heenan's office, taking out boxes of evidence as well as some computers. it's still not clear how this raid is connected to others in the city today. but we do know, as you said, the councilman is an electrician and was part of the ibew political family. he was the political director before he was elected back in 2012. there is still no word from heen an or his staff today. mayor kenny did make a brief statement to the media today. >> the fbi went out to get information and i'm sure they'll come up with some conclusion one way or the other. i don't have any information on what they're looking for. >> reporter: the kenny administration said no one from the mayor's office has been contacted by the fbi about this investigation. at least for now. it appears the fbi is solely

focused at least at city hall on the sixth district councilman. >> this may or may not be related, but earlier this year the fbi and pennsylvania attorney general's office began investigating a street fight between johnny dock and a non-union contractor. it appears to show the two walking op north third street. keysy's attorney said his client was beat up because he's not in the union and was working at a construction site. dockerty claimed he acted in self-defense. we should note here there have been no charges filed in connection with any of today's raids. our coverage of this story continues online. logon to nbc10.com for video and photos from scenes from today's raids. now to decision 2016. another poll finds hillary clinton's lead has doubled since the democratic national convention. according to the latest nbc news "wall street journal" poll, clinton leads trump by nine points.

she's getting 47% of support while trump is at 38%. happening now, donald trump is hitting the campaign trail in iowa. a live look at the rally in des moines where mike pence is speaking at the podium there. earlier today the republican nominee anoungsed his team of economic advisers, mostly consisting of people already helping his campaign. and there are no women on the team. trump's rival hillary clinton said she knows she has work to do to win over americans' trust. the democratic nominee spoke about her e-mail scandal at a gathering in washington, d.c. today. clinton telling the crowd her low personal trustworthiness numbers don't make her feel good, but her performance on the job wins over voters. kathleen cain's criminal trial is set to begin monday with jury selection. that's after pennsylvania supreme court turned down a request from the attorney general to consider her emergency petition. she's accused of leaking secret

grand jury material and lying about it under oath. she's not running for a second term as attorney general but is confident she will be found not guilty. officials are optimistic the upper floors of the justice center will be open. sheriff's deputy paul owens is in critical condition, critical but stable right now at the hospital this afternoon. officials say he was found trapped after his elevator shot through a ceiling near the 13th floor. the other victim, beverly smith, was treated and released from the hospital yesterday. atlantic city international airport getting a makeover. the transportation authority has approved a $7 million project. and that am allow the airport to repave its runways. according to the press of atlantic city, 90% of the funding is coming from an faa grant. some good news for commuters who rely on amtrak. the passenger rail company said

it's cut engine related delays by nearly 25%. 30th street station is where amtrak station operates. they've helped cut down the delays. the acf locomotives were put in service in 2013 to replace an aging fleet. the last of these locomotives being rolled out this month. speaking of transportation, the greater philadelphia area getting a major funding boost. today the delaware valley regional planning commission announced nearly $21 million in funding for projects, goals to ease traffic and improve air quality. among the changes, the navy yard is getting a second shuttle bus. >> these diverse projects will improve the quality of life in our region. >> another project a half mile trail will be built connecting

the septa station and trail system in montgomery county and philadelphia. well, if you've ever wanted to experience philadelphia as a car-free city, now is your chance. mayor kenny announced philly-free streets. on saturday, september 24th, the city will shut down a seven-mile route so philadelphians can walk, bike and play outside. this will last from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 in the afternoon. there will be free family-friendly activities and educational programming. crews were hard at work today putting stone letters right on the front of that building. the museum will tell will complete story of the american revolution through artifacts, artwork and manuscripts. it's set to open to the public in april of next year. a warning for anyone spending time at the jersey shore or beaches today. there is a moderate risk of rip currents for the entire coastline. that kept lifeguards busy

trenton, and then that line continues moving into new jersey, and the southern parts of delaware, close to the beaches by 5:00 p.m. if you're heading to the shore or delaware beaches tomorrow, we're looking at mainly late day thunderstorms. this is not going to be an all-day thing. we'll see them clear up in time for your saturday night. 9:00 p.m. saturday, a lot of the area already seeing clearing skies. that is going to continue for the second half of your weekend with low humidity. sunday is going to be a really nice day. temperatures more like the mid to upper 80s. saturday we could be getting into the low 90s. bethlehem 90 degrees on saturday. lehigh, the storms around lunchtime and clearing up through the afternoon. easton 87 degrees. scattered thunderstorms. westchester, mid to upper 80s. fairmount coming in 92. scattered afternoon storms. as well as new jersey, mostly around 90 degrees. trenton 88.

wheels. it's mobile to get as close to the storm as possible to get you the most accurate information. so it's really all about being on wheels. and glenn says it's all about the angle of the radar beams. >> so the higher the beam goes, the more you're going to go over the storm. you're going to be getting the top of the storm. if you're looking for a tornado, the tornado is right at the bottom. >> reporter: the closer we can get to the storm, the more information we can get about a storm. >> the more information we can get you, the closer we can get you to this, the better. >> reporter: the radar on wheels is ultimately for your safety. when storms hit, general warning information for you and your family is good. >> the more specific we can get about it, the more likely people are to take action. >> so cool. >> yes. >> it's going to be really invaluable when you have the rough weather moving in. you guys have to decide exactly where to send it, so you get the

most information, right? >> the first day that we had it, when we debuted it, it was in gloucester county, the next day it was in berks county. we're moving it where the storms are. glenn was mentioning, a stationary radar is higher up. this truck sits lower, the beam is a little bit lower. in the winter especially, when you're dealing with precip types, snow changing to rain, or sleet, we are able to better tell you even if the radar sees snow, this storm ranger 10 will be able to see if that snow is now changing to rain when it's hitting the ground. this is going to be such a valuable tool especially in the winter when it comes to precip type. i think we're going to have a lot of fun with it this winter and it will really help our forecasts. it's going to be a fantastic tool. >> go to nbc10.com, or tap the free nbc 10 app to see more. this now, dumpster diving is becoming a problem around

philadelphia. we're not talking about turning other people's trash into treasure. the city said you should not be taking a dip in dumpsters after this was filled with fire hydrant water and transformed into a pool. this happened at a weekend block party in fishtown. the department of licenses and inspections said residents are putting themselves at risk by wasting hydrant water. recapping our developing story. we've been following all afternoon fbi raids across philadelphia. three locations connected to the city's biggest union boss, john "doc" dockerty. his home, as well as his union headquarters in spring garden. the fbi also raided the city hall office of bobby heenan. they're not telling what they're investigating, but union reps say there are reports the feds are looking into the union's finances. it began as a row tune traffic stop. in the end it was anything but. somehow this trooper lived to tell the tale.

this dash cam video shows the moment an ohio state trooper was hit by a car during a traffic stop. while the officer had just pulled over a woman for running the red light, the car slammed into the patrol car. the officer and the car the trooper pulled over, fortunately the officer's injuries ended up amazingly being minor. also caught on camera, high-seas rescue off the coast of jacksonville, florida. the coast guard was called to medevac a man with a serious head injury. he fell into a cargo hold. last night the coast guard air lifted him to a hospital where he's now being treated. i'm jacqueline hon done coming to you live from rio. the start of the opening ceremony is about three hours away. doesn't everyone love an opening ceremony? so much anticipation and excitement building up to this

evening. the ceremony has taken five years to produce. it will include 300 dancers, 5,000 volunteers, 12,000 costumes. athletes from 207 delegations will participate in the parade of nations. a moment that is already giving the americans goose bumps. >> everyone says it's so emotional and so cool at the same time. >> i'm sure there's going to be lots of dancing, and maybe drum beats and fun music. >> there's nothing more patriotic than see someone carry our flag and be surrounded by such incredible athletes. >> reporter: whether it's their first opening ceremony, or the fourth, it is still an unbelievable experience for all of those people taking part. there are so many ways you can enjoy the olympic games this year. much further ahead than we were

timing for the storms tomorrow? >> storms tomorrow in the forecast. it depends where you live as far as the timing of it's concerned. right now we're dealing with temperatures in the mid to low 80s. 83 degrees in delaware at the moment. if you're in the lehigh valley, you're dealing with cloud cover. temperatures around 80. lehigh valley is going to be one of the first areas to see the storms tomorrow. and we're still looking at mid-80s in the philadelphia area. so if you're heading out tonight, warm and humid. but no rain just yet. you'll be dry tonight. locally we have the clouds around. the showers and storms still off to our west. those will start to organize a little more and move in tomorrow. here's a look at the timing. 7:00 a.m. in the morning in the philadelphia area, 80 degrees. by the middle of the day, we're getting closer to 90. afternoon storms start to roll in around about 2:00, 4:00 p.m. possibly. if you're in the lehigh valley, you'll see the storms, but a little bit earlier, closer to around lunchtime they'll be starting for you. we'll look at new jersey and

delaware timing for the storms tomorrow coming up. the dangerous summer heat got a lot more dangerous for one philly woman. what happened at her home had her worried about her health so she reached out to harry hairston and "nbc 10 responds." >> her air conditioning died. she said her bedroom felt like a sauna. and the help she needed kept getting delayed. >> i've been very frustrated. >> reporter: she said the second floor of her germantown home has been unbearably hot since late june. that's when the central air conditioning unit she bought from sears broke down. >> it's been over 90 degrees all this time. >> reporter: she said she brought out her warranty and called sears customer service. >> they gave me a repair date of july 15th. >> reporter: but she said after waiting eight hours, the repairman never showed. and when she called customer service again, she was told she'd have to wait two more

weeks for service. >> it was not my fault. i was here. so now i have to go to the back of the line? >> reporter: she pleaded with the supervisor for an earlier appointment. >> i was frustrated. so he said, that sounds like an emergency. so when he recognized that there was an emergency, i thought, oh, this person hears me. and he's going to bump up my visit. he didn't. >> reporter: she says for two more weeks, she slept on the couch on the first floor with the temp was cooler. when the repairman finally showed, he didn't have the part to fix the unit. it would take another two weeks to get it. that's when she called "nbc 10 responds." >> i felt like you could help me like you helped other people. >> reporter: just two days after

injuries, early issue for the eagles this training camp. two key players went down today. there was also good news, too. csn's amy is joining us with those stories. >> jim, you're right. a little good news, a little bad news sometimes. zack and jordan matthews, two of the major targets left practice early today. matthews is dealing with a knee injury. the team believes that is minor. as for the good news, ryan matthews and brandon brooks on the field for the first time this training camp. they did not participate in full practice but they were able to go through individual drills. matthews injured his ankle right before camp. brooks suffered a hamstring injury also before camp. doug peterson was asked about
