back to my co-workers. nbc 10 is learning more about the burks county family dead in the murder-suicide. today we're learning the wife was planning on leaving her husband. the couple and three children found dead saturday in their home and lauren mayk joins us with more on the shooting deaths. lauren, what did you find out? >> reporter: jim, today they performed an autopsy on the body of mark short, the husband and father and it is the only requested by the d.a.'s office as part of this investigation. now the coroner's office is referring questions about the results that up a back to the d.a.'s office and i've reached out to the them and we're waiting to hear back and this all some as mark short's family is trying to come to terms with what happened. >> the 8-year-old was going into third grade. the 5-year-old shared a name with his dad and little willow had already been through a heart transplant in her short life.

>> they loved them. i mean, it was family, family, family. >> something went horrifically wrong in the living room of their home on winding brook drive, the children and the mother and father all found shot dead and we talked to family members of mark short trying to come to grips with had a happened. >> always a calm, collected, always helped everybody and would do anything for everybody. so laid back and just said it was a really good guy and you wouldn't think he would do this kind of thing, you know, but in the same he's in right now, you know, you never could tell with people. >> short's family members confirm marital trouble between megan and mark. >> mark was really trying to make it work, and he took them to disney world in february to try to bond the family together and evidently it didn't work because she still wanted to get out of marriage. >> reporter: the district attorney's office has only requested an autopsy of mark short, not megan or the

children, but they have not confirmed who pulled the trigger or what was written in an apparent murder-suicide found at the home. family members say they don't know the details of the note either as they now try to come to terms with what they do know. >> it's just so devastating what has happened. we just don't understand it. >> reporter: now in addition to the autopsy performed here today, the d.a.'s office also said today that they are still doing some forensic analysis of some evidence taken from the short's home. live in reading, lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. from our jersey shore bureau the search is on for the driver responsible for a deadly hit and run. police say a 61-year-old woman was out for a walk this morning in barnagat township. she was on the phone with her husband when she was hit by a large suv that took off. there were no witnesses to the crash, but investigators believe a chevy silverado, tahoe or suburban was involved. new at 6:00, a barber shot

in the face and his friends say it was all over a dispute over a haircut. it happened inside a southwest philadelphia barber shop this afternoon. so far no arrests. jury selection got under way today in the trifle pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane. heebs 10 was there this morning as kane arrived at the courthouse in norristown, month gomery county accused of leaking secret grand jury information and then lying under oath. her trial is expected to last about a week. >> route 70 in burlington county back open tonight after this deadly car crash. two people died in this accident in pemberton township late this afternoon. you see all the damage there from sky force 10. police are still investigating what caused the crash. disturbing new details revealed today in the attack on a delaware teenage their left her dead. a police detective revealed the teen had her fingernails ripped out. that came out today during a hearing to decide whether a 16-year-old charged in the case should be tried as an adult.

>> reporter: i'm jacqueline london live in rio. michael phelps is back in the pool tonight, and he's one of the many athletes here who you'll see with red and blue and purple circles on their shoulders. apparently it is an ancient chinese healing practice. we wanted to learn more about it so we sent nbc 10's tim furlong to the university of delaware to check it out. >> reporter: we're all watching the u.s. relay team winning gold on sunday but hard not to be distracted by the big blemishes all over michael phelps' back. >> i knew exactly what it was. >> reporter: turns out it's a therapy called delaware. >> the university of delaware uses cupping on athletes mick meg an. >> reporter: does this feel good? >> no, it's a little painful, not terrible. >> reporter: cupping is a

here at home, what's going on with the weather? >> well, it's pretty comfortable now. >> yeah. >> comfortable yesterday. it's not going to -- >> it's going to get brutal around here towards the end of the week, and, yeah, got another heat wave on the way. the temperatures now not too bad. 83 degrees in philadelphia. got high clouds. low 80s, new jersey, 84, lehigh valley. had more sunshine in the lehigh valley and you'll see why in a minute. now at the jersey shore we've got a sea breeze today. yesterday we didn't and it was up near 990 degrees. today the sea breeze at 79 and 77 ocean city. ocean is 79. it was up to 80 degrees a few hours ago. that's the first time this summer it got up there. it's now finally warm enough for me to go in the ocean officially and temperature has to get up to 80 degrees in the water. all right. we've got a heat wave coming. heat wave number five. only 85 degrees today and some

of the clouds kept the temperatures down. 88 tomorrow and 92 wednesday and this is when it gets really hot. thursday, friday, saturday, maybe even into sunday as the temperatures get into the mid-90s, it feels like it is 100 degrees. we have these high clouds from philadelphia southward and the rain staying well to the south. that's not coming up this way any time soon. as we go through the hour-by-hour future case you can see -- going to see a lot of sunshine tomorrow. it's going to be a sunnier day than today and then by wednesday morning there could be a few showers developing, and that's just the start of the increase in the humidity as the temperature and the feels-like temperature, so tomorrow the humidity is up a little bit, so it feels a little bit warmer in westchester, 86 and the temperature 185. allentown the same because the humidity is not that high, but

the eagles preseason opener is just three days away, but they will be playing without key starters. jason peters and malcolm jenkins won't play. hopefully they will be able to go next week. jordan matthews won't play either. he's expected to miss a few weeks. hoping to have him for the third preseason game. he has a knee strain after being hit low in practice last week. coach doug pederson brought back the hitting and tackling that andy reid used to have but doug says today no more tackling. >> just got a look at the overall health of the football team and it's not about getting somebody hurt and protecting the guys that are out here and they have been doing an excellent job. the last six days have been tough and i wanted it to be tough on them and by no means are we where we want to be as a football team, but at the same time i think we've made some big strides in the last week. >> preseason opener, sam bradford will start and play a
