areas, you're dealing with wet roads. the one thing it's doing is really helping to cool those temperatures down. south brunswick seeing the heavy rain here. it's more near pennington and hopewell township that we're watching closely because some of that rain is heavy with lightning around, too. temperature-wise, it is very hot outside, except for the areas that saw the rain. the temperature in coatesville, 79 degrees. philadelphia 94. vineland 92. even mount holly 92. the big concern is how hot it actually feels when you factor in the humidity. philadelphia, feeling like 105. if you're in dover, you feel like 116 right now. vineland feeling like 107. mount holly feeling close to 100 degrees there. so we'll keep the heat and the humidity in the forecast for tonight, and all the way through your weekend. so we still have a first alert out for dangerous heat. philadelphia, pennsylvania suburbs, new jersey and delaware, this will run through sunday. your entire weekend will be hot and humid. both weekend days will be

feeling around 100 to 110 degrees. maybe even a little bit hotter. we'll talk more about your weekend forecast and the next chance for thunderstorms coming up. >> so we don't really need to tell you not to spend long stretches of time outside. tim furlong is joining us live from lewis with a look at how people at least tried to brave the elements today. tim? >> reporter: yeah, jim, for many people, this is the end of their vacation. they wanted to get beach time no matter what. but the water as you come down here, it feels great in lewis right now. all these people still out here. it feels a lot better than it did earlier. the sun is still pretty intense. it feels like you're on the top rack of the oven. >> it's too hot to do anything. of course we came to the beach. >> reporter: on the delaware beaches -- >> a great place to be. >> reporter: -- the water is extra warm, the sand is extra hot. no flip-flops, sprint up to the ice cream store where sales actually go down when the temperature goes up this high. >> quite a few people are coming

up. not as much as a normal day because it's so hot. the ice cream melts really fast. >> reporter: out at the water park, water, water everywhere. a huge bucket will dump on your head. a cooler alternative to the beach today. >> being in the sand, being real hot walking through it. the water park's great, too. >> reporter: not much breeze to help them out today. one of the few days it may not be great to work on a beach, it's that hot. >> drink a lot of water, try to find shade whenever possible. >> reporter: businesses do okay today. fewer people on the sand can mean more people in the shops. the cultured pearl restaurant has one of the best decks on the beach. >> the atmosphere is unbeatable up here. >> reporter: not a great day to have lunch out here. but when the sun goes down, the breeze will pick up and this place will be packed despite the heat. >> it will be fine. there won't be anybody complaining about the weather. >> reporter: nobody complaining right now in lewis, too.

usa. my co-anchor jacqueline london joining us in rio. we didn't see this one coming. >> reporter: no, jim, it's a first for team usa in women's soccer. ever since soccer became an olympic sport, back in 1996, the women have always made it to the finals. that all changed today. let's go and take a look at that video and see what happened. alex morgan tied the game. with just a few minutes remaining. team usa lost in the penalty shootout. two americans missed, meaning they are out. much disappointment for south jersey's carli lloyd. she's already looking ahead. >> i think overall we played well. and it's unfortunate to lose. but you best believe in 2019 and 2020, we're going to be back for the gold. >> reporter: today brings the first day of track and field competition in rio, and the

fastest woman in the world will take part in the 100 meter dash, including english gardner. she will run in her first heat tonight. the semifinals are tomorrow. philadelphia fencer miles chamley watson is headed home with a medal. he beat italy today to capture the bronze. the victory ends an 84-year medal drought in team fencing. when i interviewed watson, i said where's the gold medal tattoo going to go? he won't get the gold, but maybe the bronze will end up somewhere on his canvas. also coming up, my interview with the final five women's gymnastics team. they were incredible to talk to. and something you really want to see intrigued them, coming up in just a few minutes. jim? >> see you in a bit. an unusual twist at home in the perjury trial of pennsylvania's attorney general. today lawyers for kathleen kane closed their case without

calling a single witness. multiple prosecution witnesses testified that kane leaked grand jury information to a reporter, but today kane told the judge she doesn't feel prosecutors made their case saying she didn't think it was necessary to testify. closing arguments are now set for monday. innocent children shot. two 6-year-olds victims of gunfire in different parts of philadelphia within just 48 hours. and this is the face of the most recent victim last night. he is in critical condition right now. tonight philly's top cop wants people to speak up and come forward with information. randy gyllenhaal joining us live from police headquarters on the heartbreaking stories. >> reporter: jim, police are offering up to a $10,000 reward in both of those cases. they say these suspects were firing discriminately last night, dozens of shots, one of them actually had an ak-47. at this point police say they don't have many leads and need help from the public.

>> so, please, come forward even if you don't want to give your name. >> reporter: a plea for help from philly police after two 6-year-olds were hit by stray gunfire just days apart. the city's police commissioner left shaking his head. >> reckless disregard for the life, and now you have a 6-year-old fighting for his life. >> reporter: brown was the most recent victim, sitting in his godfather's car last night when a gun battle erupted outside. the boy's family says he was hit in the chest with high-powered ammunition. >> somebody needs to speak up and say something. people's children are dying for no reason. >> reporter: three others were wounded in the shootout. police believe two rival groups may have taken a turf war to the streets. one suspect had an ak-47, sending bullets flying into homes and bedrooms. >> over here -- >> reporter: julian williams was nearly caught in the crossfire. >> almost penetrated the brick. a big hole. looks like it was a rifle.

>> reporter: police are now searching for a new model mercury mountain ee the suspects were caught on video leaving the scene. but many on this block now worry they'll come back. >> who's selling these guns to these young people out here. it doesn't make no accepts. this is not a military -- >> reporter: earlier this week, a 6-year-old girl was also hit by stray gunfire. police will be using ballistic evidence to try to figure out if the two cases are connected. meantime, we're expecting a vigil and a protest at the scene of last night's shooting. that starts at 7:00. live at police headquarters, randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. >> it makes you shake your head. donald trump continued his push for pennsylvania today. during a rally in erie, he tried to quash the latest controversy surrounding the comments he made linking president obama and isis. >> so i said, the founder of isis. obviously i'm being sarcastic. then -- but not that sarcastic, to be honest with you.

>> trump's drawing criticism from democrats for saying obama founded the extremist group. trump initially stood by those remarks but today is the first time he said he was actually kidding. trump has reason to focus on western pennsylvania. in the nbc "wall street journal" poll released this week, donald trump is trailing clinton by double digits in the area. as for clinton today, she released her 2015 tax returns. the clintons made $10.5 million. they paid 34.2% in taxes. the clintons have disclosed returns for every year since 1977. for vice presidential nominee tim kaine and his wife, they also released their returns. they paid more than 25.5% in taxes. donald trump has refused to release his returns, citing an ongoing audit. next at 6:00, back to rio, with jacqueline london, going one on five with the final five

when you see the final five in competition, it's easy to think about whether they have enough time to enjoy the small pleasures in life with the weight of the world on their shoulders. and if they can enjoy the small pleasures. i was happy to learn today they do indeed. the best gymnastics team in the world. the final five now sporting their heavy hardware. i met up with team usa. the olympics all-around olympic champion who did it her way. coaches have gotten on you for chatting and giggling during practice. do you think that helps you,

though, your positive energy? >> i guess i have two golds, so you can't deny that it helps me. it's part of my personality. >> reporter: competitors, yes. friends, first. the youngest member of the final five, 16-year-old laurie hernandez from old bridge, new jersey. during competition the other night we saw you say, i've got this, to yourself. does that help you when you talk to yourself and just thinking so positively before you compete? >> yeah. i mean, right before i competed beam, it really hit me, that we were at the olympics and i got a little bit nervous. i kind of just needed to reassure myself and said, you can do it, you've got this. >> reporter: we heard that you love in wawa. >> yeah. >> she told us. >> reporter: really? you've been talking about it? >> oh, yeah. >> reporter: no wawa in rio. are you anxious to get back? >> i'm definitely excited to go back and sneak in a hoagie. >> reporter: but for now,

along the shore, a lot of people at the shore today. some saying that it is very hot, which it certainly is. cape may courthouse 88 degrees. ocean city 82. atlantic city. when you factor in the humidity, it feels even hotter. atlantic city feels like 102 degrees right now. because it's so humid. dover feels like 116. vineland 107. wilmington feels like 104. philadelphia feeling near 100 degrees right now. but it felt hotter earlier today. we're in heat wave number five right now. today we got to 97 degrees in philadelphia. felt as holt as 108. tomorrow 98 degrees. for your saturday, feeling close to 110. sunday, 97, feeling like 106. the heat wave could even continue as we go into the start of next week. more like the low 90s, though. here's a look at the radar. this is where we're still seeing thunderstorm activity right over 295. we'll zoom in right over
